Chapter 25: School Transfer

Meanwhile on the other side of the planet when it's daytime at Taipei. We cut to high school where most students are wearing their uniform. Some students are speaking Chinese while other students are learning to speak English.

Boys wearing black coat, white button up long sleeve shirt with ties around their neck, black pants, long black socks, and dress shoes. Girls are wearing their black coat, white button up shirts with ties, black skirts, long white socks, and dress shoes.

All of students are taking classes by finish up their schoolwork or finishing up their test. By then when the clock reaches to three, the bell rang. Most students got up from their desk, gathered their belongings, and they exit to the door. All except one has left the classroom.

There is a certain boy like around 17 years old wearing his school uniform. While he's reading a book, he heard an announcer calling his name.

"Eddie Wu, please report to the principal's office."

He set the book down as he look up at the speaker. His hair grew longer a bit and he's seems to be a slightly similar to his long lost sister. He got up from the desk and took his backpack with him as he left the classroom.

Eddie Wu is all grown like any other students. He walk through the hallway until he to the principal's office. He look at the principal sitting at his desk wearing his uniform with red tie around his neck. He is much more respectful like any gentlemen.

"Hello, Eddie." greeted The principal.

"Hi, mister principal." Eddie greeted. "Is there something wrong?"

"Oh, there's nothing wrong. Have a seat."

Eddie took off his backpack and took a seat.

"Eddie, I look into your records how things are going. You mentioned that you have a sister, do you not?"

"Yes, sir."

"When was the last time you see her?" asked The principal.

Eddie tries to remember what he has last seen his sister. His grandparents told him that he was dropped off at the airport along with his grandparents to send him home to Hong Kong for safety when he was a toddler. As he grows up into eight years old, he remembers when he has last saw his sister at the park with her adopted father.

"I was at Disneyland when I last saw her." Eddie answered.

"Really?"

"Yes, she was with her adopted father."

"Did you tell her your name?"

"No."

"How come?"

"She's only five years old. My grandfather told me that she was adopted."

"And that's why you're here to talk about?"

"Yes sir, he also said that if I see her again when I'm old enough, I have to work hard, and then one day I might visit to Los Angeles."

"You want to go Los Angeles?" The principal raised his left eyebrows.

"I made a promise. With your permission, I would like to transfer school." replied Eddie.

The principal knew that his top student is ready to move on. Eddie's grandfather made a promise to him. Then he started to search the web for school's location in Los Angeles.

"Now that you're old enough, yes, permissions granted."

"You really mean it?"

"Yes, if that's what you want. I have search for any schools in L.A. What location would like to attend to?"

Eddie hasn't thought about it, but then he had an idea where he would like to attend if he's old enough.

"Saint James High School."

Later on, Eddie has already left the building, but with a smile as he happily cheer silently doing his pose. He start running and walk down to the subway station, taking the train to get back his grandparents house where he still lives with.

It won't be long until he got off the train as he made it to his destination. Then he took a taxi to take him straight home as the taxi drove throughout the city. Finally, he was dropped off by the taxi and ran straight home to his grandparents house.

Eddie has been living with them for thirteen years, waiting to see his long lost sister again since their separations. He doesn't understand why he was separated from his sister, but loved his grandparents as long as they took good care of him. He walk through the door where his grandparents are in the kitchen cooking for dinner.

"I'm home!" Eddie hollered.

His grandparents looked at him smiling.

"Eddie! How was school?" His grandfather asked.

"It was okay, I guess." Eddie answered.

"Did you found your girlfriend?" His grandmother asked.

"Grandma, we were just friends."

"Well, you should start dating." His grandmother teased.

The eldest husband chuckled calmly.

"What?" Eddie teased.

"You reminded me back when I was your age. I used to fall in love with her. Then we got married, raise our daughter, and have our grandkids."

Eddie smiled at his grandfather.

"Say uh... can we talk?" Eddie asked.

"About what? Getting married?"

"What? No, no, it's not that. It's something that we talked about."

His grandparents took a glance at each other and then they nodded.

"Eddie, have a seat." said His grandmother.

He set his green backpack down and sat down at the table. His grandparents took a seat as well.

"My boy, we've been talking about how much you wanted to see Marcy. Since you've been old enough, we wanted to give you this." said The elder's husband.

He holds out a small box. Eddie curiously looked at it as he opens the small box which turns out that it was a SD card that was inside the small bag. He was all confused at first.

"What's this?" Eddie asked.

"It's a memory card. Your parents used to take pictures for your memories." His grandmother answered.

"Who gave this to you?"

"A friend."

Eddie looked carefully at the card. He remembers when his parents use to take pictures with him and his little sister. He heard his grandfather speaking to him.

"And there were videos about your parents."

He looked at them skeptical.

"What?"

"It was your mother. She recorded before you were separated."

Eddie was stunned softly. He took a glance at the card and then looked at the elders. They knew that their grandson was gonna be heartbroken, but he remains calm as he let them explain.

"Your mother loved you and your sister, more than anything. She knew what's going to happen if the two of you were in danger because of this."

"I know that upsets you, but you have to understand this." His grandmother added.

Eddie took a deep breathe looking at them.

"Do you know about this?" Eddie asked softly.

"We didn't know until now." His grandfather answered.

The elder's wife reaches her arm to comfort her grandson.

"We loved you, Eddie. We would never hide this from you. You were too young to understand at first, but wanted to show this to you when you're old enough. Do you understand?"

Eddie nodded calmly.

"Yes. I understand, but why didn't you tell me earlier?" Eddie asked.

"Remember you told me what you last saw Marcy at Disneyland? We never broke any promise." His grandfather answered. "That is why we wanted to you to have this."

The elders husband holds out something. Eddie gently took it and looked at it what it turns out to be a passport. He remembers when his grandparents used to have their own passports long ago. When he opens the passport, it reveals that a ticket was on the page like a book holder.

Eddie closely looked at it until he gasp softly. He looked up at his grandparents smiling at him warmly. Eddie could not believe that it's so good to be true.

"Y-you mean?" Eddie stammered a bit.

"Yes Eddie, it is time."

Eddie got off from the table and hugged his grandfather gently. His grandmother join the hug as they all embrace each other. They always knew that this day would come.

"Thank you." He whispered out loud.

"You're welcome."

Later on, Eddie went to his room, but his room changed a lot when he grows up. His wall covered by movie posters. He got some book to read on his bookshelves. He has some action figures of superheroes and giant monsters. He even has own computer on his desk.

He started to pack up. He setup some suitcase and some boxes for his stuff to pack up. He first starts packing up his books and his action figures in each boxes and set it carefully. he took down some posters rolled it up and setup by using rubber bands.

Eddie cleared his desk and put away some stuff in the box. He looked at the picture frame where he used to have it all the time. The way he looked at the photo of him and his baby sister, he smiles warmly at it. He gently set the picture inside the box along with his memories.

Eddie already turned off his computer. He gently put his keyboard, his screen monitor, and some power cords inside the box. The only thing he didn't put something in the box is his PC. Later on, he packed up some clothes in his suitcases, but he only picked out clothes for tomorrow and he can wear his pajamas.

Once he's done packing, he looked round his room where his desk and his bookshelves are empty. The only thing that will be left behind is his desk, his bookshelves, and his bed. He knew that there isn't enough room to take it to the airport. Luckily, his grandfather came in to check on him.

"Is everything okay?" His grandfather asked.

"All packed." Eddie answered. "Man, it took me two hours to packed up."

"You don't have to worry about the airport. I've already contacted an old friend who used to be a pilot."

"Huh. That was easy."

"It sure is. Dinner's almost ready."

"Thanks, grandpa."

"Of course."

His grandfather left the room. Eddie sits down on the bed. He pulled out his phone that he got long ago. He looks to the app where people socialized on the internet. He looks through the page where it shows an icon with a username on it.

He looked to the homepage and it shows his long-lost sister as 13 year old with her friends. He smiles for that moment. Eddie knew that she made some friends. When he first visits to the app, he really wanted to tell her something, but he didn't. Eddie really wanted to follow her homepage, but he didn't.

He was told not to reveal himself when it's too soon. What she says if he told her earlier? What's stopping him from the beginning? He sighed sadly.

"Don't worry Marcy, I'm gonna make it up to you when we're reunited once again."

Meanwhile back at Marcy's house during the middle of the night, everyone went to sleep. In her father's bedroom where Timon is sleeping as a meerkat, but that's when he's having trouble sleeping. Timon shifted himself a bit when he's dreaming about, but his dream however is different.

Inside of his mindscape, he opened his eyes. The meerkat quickly got up as he looks around the field what appears to be a savannah. Dried grass and dead trees. He doesn't remember when it's dry season, but he noticed when something is not right.

But then, as the wind blows with leaves blew away, the sky turned grey when it's getting too dark. Timon must've thought that it's going to get rain, but he didn't realize when storm approaches.

He couldn't risk from getting shocked by the lightning bolt. He looked around to find a shelter until he spotted a small cave. Timon ran towards the hiding spot as he went inside. He sighed in relief.

All of sudden, he didn't notice at first, but he looked at the ground with shadows on him. Once he turns around, he cringed when it's too bright and covered his eyes. He couldn't see what it is.

"What the-"

"Do not be alarmed, little one."

"Huh?! Who said that?!"

"The time has come to look upon the prophecy."

"Wait, prophecy? Who are you?!"

He didn't hear an answer, but as the bright goes higher and higher when he closes his eyes when it's all too bright hoping to brace for himself.

But then, he opened his eyes, quickly bolted up. The meerkat quickly moves his head around the room. He looked at the clock that says "5:00 a.m.", he rubbed his eyes gently.

"Ugh, what a nightmare." Timon groaned.

He got off from the bed as he jumped off to the bathroom. Timon turned on the sink as he washed his face, he turns off the sink, and use his towel to dry himself off. He looked down at his necklace as he gently polished until he started to transform when bright light surrounds all around him.

Once the brightness lowers down, he's now a human, but wearing his white tank top shirt and his red pajama pants. He stretched himself until he heard a crack on his back. He raises his hands to touch his head to fix his neck by cracking himself turning left and then turning right.

Timon put on his black slippers and exit through the door. He walks through the hallway as he marches downstairs passing by some pictures on the wall, but there are some pictures that he added over the years. There was a circle picture frame where it first shows him with Pumbaa as humans and Marcy doing there pose.

Then it shows a square picture frame where it shows Pumbaa as a warthog with Marcy as a toddler sitting on him wearing a Chinese Dragon pajama while Timon is on top of her head holding out a firecracker with title says "Chinese New Year".

Then another one a photo of him and Pumbaa as both humans riding on "Splash Mountain" with Marcy as 10 years old. And finally, another one where it shows Marcy as toddler again holding a brown rabbit at the petting zoo.

Once Timon reach at the bottom, he opens the basement door and walk downstairs. He finally approaches as he looked at the safe, but was covered by black dust cover. He remembers where he put it in for safety. Timon uncovers the dust cover, type the passcodes until it beeps. The wheels turned and opens the door.

He looked what's left inside is the music box. It hasn't been touched for years. Along with an envelope for Marcy, a stick that he used to scratch on his back with the word "The Forbidden Stick" on the note, and some cashes.

"(sighed) Just making sure that it's safe, but I haven't touched it for years. What is it that you want?"

He waited for an answer, but it was too quiet. He knows that the box never talks.

"Just as I thought. Don't come cry to me, because I ain't open it."

Timon close the safe door, turn the wheel to locked up tight, and covered the safe by using black dust cover. He walked back upstairs to get things started and close the door behind him.

What was he dreaming about? Who was that mysterious voice? We'll have to find out as soon as possible. Stay tuned for the next chapter!
