Chapter 35: Eddie Moves In

During that sunset at the warehouse, thugs like bad guys are working in progress that is illegal. But for now, they're doing some pokers like card games winning a bet. And as for their boss, Xuán who's been sitting in his office for a while.

For eight years, he's been searching for this girl whether someone says it's true, but still no sign of her. He's mainly focus on researching for history, but it's not for history class, but an ancient relic that's been discovered in the lost city of the jungle.

He flip pages for more information, but then one of his henchmen shows up wearing black and grey clothes. He just stood right in front of the desk where Xuán is sitting. Then his boss looks at him.

"What is it?" Xuan asked.

"Sir, we were unable to find the location for the lost city. We've searched every museum in different countries."

"Well, you're gonna have to search again. My master grows impatient." Xuan looks annoyed.

"It's not that sir, but the police were everywhere in this city."

"Then it's the mobs problem. Not mine. Need I remind you when you were young? You always picked on the little girls until you let this man threatens you to back off and just run off."

Turns out that this man was once a bully until he grows up like around 20-year-old as he shuddered when sweaty. Xuán stands up, walks slowly around his desk.

"You know, you remind me something. Your father used to work with, but then he was caught right-handed, after got crash into garbage, then he was arrested, thrown into jail. and never to be seen again. So, you just volunteered, wanted revenge, and it's that what you wanted?"

"Yes."

"And do you know why you're here?"

Xuán is waiting for an answer. This man was nervous if he fails to realize, but he answered instead.

"To get my revenge for what they did. I was expelled because of them."

"At what cost?"

"Everything."

Xuán raise his hand, patted on this man's cheek.

"Smart lad. Now go back out there until you find that kid. She's the only one who is smarter than you."

A young male nodded and left the office. Xuán knows him well. The boy's father got arrested for multiple crimes that he di and he was sentence behind bars for very long time. Then he got himself expelled and join Xuán for revenge.

He picked up a dagger that looks rusted and fiddles with it as he talks to himself. When it comes to power hungry bad guys, they will stop at nothing until they got what they wanted. What does this man want with this girl or the lost city? The question is who?

"You can't hide with your new families forever. Once I get the information, I will deliver to my master to find the missing piece, and then... all of China will bow..."

Then Xuán throws a dagger on the map that lands on China that's been hanging on the wall.

"To the Wu Clans."

Later that night back at home, the whole family has already unloaded Eddie's stuff out from the truck and put everything away in his new room where it used to be guest room. They setup his bed, put away some books on the shelves, and putting clothes away in the drawers.

"So, this is where I get to sleep. In my room." said Eddie.

"Yep, it's a good thing that we setup beds and bookshelves in case anyone come for a visit." Pumbaa answered.

"Wow! Are you into some robot collection?" Marcy astonished when looking at the figure.

"Yep, Gundam is my favorite. They're from Japan where I ordered online." replied Eddie.

"Cool!"

Marcy has never seen such collectible item like this before. Once she set the robot figure down gently, she went gasps and picks up the book that collect cards.

"No way! Are those Pokémon Trading Card?!" Marcy gasps.

"Oh, yeah. I collect some trading cards and trade some for my friends."

"Are you kidding?! I collect trading cards too!"

"Really?!"

"Yeah! Come on, I'll show you!"

Marcy set the book down as they walk to her room leaving the adults behind putting away his clothes. Once the teens entered her room, Eddie looked around and smiled that his sisters room looks perfect. He was surprised that she got her computer on her desk and lights hanging on the ceiling.

"Welcome to my room! My dad and my uncle made this for me before I was adopted. I got lot of books to read, or games to play with, and some cards to collect." said Marcy.

"That looks very nice." replied Eddie.

"Uh huh, and check this out! Boom!"

Marcy shows her trading card book. Eddie was dumbfounded.

"You kidding me?"

"Nope! I've collected some cards for years and trading with my friends. And speaking of friends, I wanted to show you something on my picture."

Marcy set the book down and picked up her picture frame from her desk to show this to her brother.

"These are my friends! I met them when we were kindergarten while I was an orphan. This is Anne, my best friend that I first met. And this is Sasha, she stood up against these bullies. And that's Darrel, my dungeon buddy. And then there's Ivan, who loves cars. And finally, this is Ethan." Marcy introduces from the photo.

"Huh, you made lots of friends?" Eddie asked.

"Sure do, well... before I met them, I never made a few friends back when I was an orphan, but the only friend I ever had is Bailey. She used to by roommate who looks after me when I was a baby."

Eddie blinked his eyes. He remembers when he first met Bailey from a few hours ago.

"Well, just to let you know, I stop by at the orphanage where you adopted to find you." said Eddie.

"Really?" Marcy blinked.

"Yeah, and Bailey says hi."

Marcy smiles softly at him. Then she set her picture frame down on her desk.

"How was she?" Marcy asked kindly.

"She's doing good. Looking after her little brother. I have no clue how you were there all this time." replied Eddie.

"Well, I didn't know that you're with your grandparents. Our grandparents. I'm starting to wonder where have you been all this time."

"Guilty as charge."

Eddie took a glance at the small picture frame on her nightstand. He picked it up gently, looking at the photo of him with his baby sister and his parents. He smiles softly at first, remembers what he used to look after. Marcy noticed that too when smiled.

"You hold on to these?" Eddie asked softly.

"Yes, it was our mother who gave it Mrs. Padilla, then she gives it to me when I was five." replied Marcy.

Eddie pulled his wallet out to take out the photo and show this to Marcy. The way she looked at the photo of herself with her pacifier carrying by her big brother in front of the cherry blossom. She grows soft.

"Remember where we used to play in the garden back home?" Eddie asked.

"Yeah. I think I do."

"I remember when you tried to play in the pond."

"Wait, I did that?"

"(chuckles) It's pretty cute when you tried to swim, but I have to look after you until mom noticed this took pictures of us."

"Oh ho, Eddie." Marcy giggles.

"(sigh) I wish we could stay like this forever."

Eddie dropped his smile. He set the small picture frame back down gently and sat down on his sister's bed. Marcy noticed his face. She has never seen him looked sad like this before.

"Remember when we were separated by our parents?" Eddie asked softly

"Back when we were little?" Marcy added when take a seat next to him.

"Yeah, our grandparents told me when I was older. It was that night when everything's change..."

(Flashback Starts)

"Twelve years ago, when we first visit to Los Angeles, our parents were planning to move here after he had an interview. It was meant to be our future. For all of us."

We cut to flash back in a year of 2006, where it shows a silver car driving in early night. Eddie's father is driving fast to find his wife desperately while Eddie as four years old sitting in the back holding his backpack.

"Our dad took me to a new school while you with our mom shopping buy us some new clothes and toys, but then he tried to call her, but she hasn't answered since that happened."

The husband of the family has no idea where his wife could be. He dropped her off somewhere in downtown when she went to shopping for her baby girl, but the rumor has it is when it's nighttime, it could be dangerous.

"Daddy? Where are we going?" Eddie asked.

"Is something important, but I called your grandparents to meet us at the airport."

"Why?"

"I don't know."

Young Eddie doesn't like where he's going. By then, they have arrived at the airport where his grandparents are waiting for him at the main entrance. He got out from the car talking to the elders.

"Hey, I came as fast I could." said Mr. Wu.

"Where's our daughter?" Eddie's grandfather asked.

"I tried to call her, but she wouldn't answer."

Suddenly, his phone ranged. He pulled his mobile phone out from his pocket and answered it.

"Honey?"

Then he heard his wife on the phone.

"Oh, thank goodness. Are you okay?"

Eddie looks out the window, but doesn't understand what his father is saying. He took a glance at the toddler before replying to his wife, but the toddler couldn't hear him.

Then his father hangs up the phone, open the door so that the boy can climbed out with his backpack. The husband of the family kneeled to his son to talk to him.

"Daddy, what's going on?"

"Eddie, I need you to listen to me carefully. Your mother and your sister is at the orphanage. I need you to stay here with your grandparents until I get back."

"I wanna go with you!"

"No, son! It's too dangerous! I can't take that risk!"

"Please don't go!"

Eddie throws his arms around his father when starts to cry. Then he hugs him back to comfort him. His grandparents cling on to each other softly. They knew that their son-in-law has to retrieve their daughter and come straight back here. Eddie's father let go of the embrace and looked at his son crying.

"Hey, it's gonna be okay. I want you to promised me one thing."

He took off his Yin and Yang necklace and put on around the boy's neck.

"That necklace was once belong to my father, and his father before him, and now it belongs to you. It will guide you and will protect you and our family at all cost. No matter what happens, stay strong. Do you understand?"

Eddie nodded, but with tears. His father gives him a quick hug, then he kisses his son's forehead, and then he stands up to see his parents-in-law who's been tearing a bit and they embraced together for a moment.

"Please bring back our daughter safety." Eddie's grandfather whispered.

Then they let go of their embrace, looking at their last look.

"I promise, I'll be back with her, and look after my son until I get back." said Mr. Wu.

"Please, be careful." said Eddie's grandmother.

"I will!"

He ran back to the car and put on his seatbelt. Before he starts driving, he took a final glance at his son holding with his mother-in-law with sad face. The father couldn't bear enough to see his son's crying. He smiles softly at him to comfort him.

"I promise I'll be back, son. I'll always love you."

Then he closes the window and drove off to find his wife and his daughter. Eddie was staring at the car until he left the area. The boy hugged his grandma crying as the eldest couples gave him a warm hug. Eddie will never forget the day when he was last seen his father.

(Flashback ends)

We cut back into presents when Eddie was looking at his Yin and Yang's necklace that he's been polish. Marcy grew sad a bit after he's telling her a story about what happen.

"When he promised me that he'll be back with our mom, but then... there was a car crash from that incident. They died in a crash after you were dropped off at the orphanage."

Marcy laid her hand on her chest. She remembers when her former caretaker told her everything in case she's too young to understand before her adoption.

"When he said... that he'll be back. He promised us. He promised me. It turns out that he didn't. I don't know what's going in our family, but..."

Eddie paused. He tried not to broke into tears in front of his sister. Marcy noticed that he's trying not to cry. She laid her right hand on her older brother's left shoulder. He looked at her eyes softly.

"I am so sorry. I should've stayed with our mom... to be with you."

"It wasn't your fault. Neither does our dad. Our old dad. I know what's like to be left alone when I was an orphan, but when my life change, I have my new family, my best friends, and you. You could get be part of our family too. You don't have to be alone anymore. You're with us now. As a family." said Marcy filling her speech.

Eddie smiles softly at her. He wiped his small tears with by his hand.

"Thanks, sis."

"No problem, big brother."

They warmly hugged each other. Eddie is feeling a lot better now. Marcy is the only girl that can comfort her. Just then, they heard her adopted father goes 'ahem' and they looked at Timon peering at the doorway.

"Uh, sorry to interrupt, but the pizzas here. I ordered online while you were talking alone." said Timon.

"It's okay, but thanks." replied Marcy.

"Is everything okay, hun?"

"Yeah, we were just... talking."

"Okay, so come on down and we can watch movie together."

"Okay, dad."

He nodded and left the room. Both Marcy and Eddie got off from her bed.

"So, what movie are watching?" Eddie asked.

"We were planning to do "Marvel Movie Marathon" while Captain Marvel comes out in theaters this week, and I told him that the next Avengers movie doesn't come out until April when it's time." Marcy answered.

"Wait, you have Marvel Movies?"

"Oh yeah, we got plenty of movies just for all of us."

"Well, I got a few too, but mines are from China. At least I switched it to English."

"Cool! Anyway, we're going to watch Disney movie since our mom just got here."

"Wait, were they married already?"

"Not yet, but I'll tell you everything when it's time."

"Whatever you say, Marcy."

They left her room as they walk downstairs to get some pizzas.

Later on, the movie just started when the adults sitting the couch while Marcy and Eddie sitting on the floor, eating their pizzas and drinking their water and sodas. Timon is sit next in between Tatiana and Pumbaa.

During the final battle on TV, an evil fairy has been teleported all the way to the castle to confront the prince riding the horse that's been startling. They all knew what's going to happen next while Eddie is watching carefully as he remembers.

"Now, shall you deal with me, O' Prince. And all the powers of hell!"

Then out of explosion as the evil fairy laughs while transforming into a fire breathing dragon. Marcy could easily recognize, but for Eddie starts to think of something.

"Did you know, that the dragon appeared in "The Good Witch Azura" that was really based on?" said Marcy.

"Who's Azura?" Eddie asked.

"Oh, it was a novel fantasy series that just came out when I was little and then the movie just came out. It was my favorite."

"Ah, gotcha."

While they were watching, on TV it shows the prince tries to escape from the fire that the dragon breathes and he climbs on the cliff to swing his sword the against dragon as she climbs up, snapping and then she breathes fire causing the prince to drop the shield while cackles. Just then, the three good fairies use their magic sparkles on the sword.

"Sword of Truth, fly swift and sure, that evil die and good endure!"

Before the dragon attempt to strike, but the prince hurls the sword to her chest, stabbing the heart while she screams in agony. Just as the dragon fell, the prince dodge before she fell to her death, leave nothing but her robe as her body disappears with all that's left with the sword. If the fairy dies, the dark magic disappears and vanish into thin air.

"Well, that's intense." Eddie remarks.

"I know, right. Due to her characteristic populations, they decided to revive her to be in live action movie called "The Decedents". It talks about all of heroes and villains from fairy tales that have children." Marcy explained.

"Wait, I think I've seen it before. That was actually good movie."

"(gasp) Here comes the best part!" Tatiana whispered when chimes.

They looked at the TV screen where it shows the prince walks up to the tower as he step closer to share a true loves kiss with the princess that's been asleep until she woke up when the spell was broken.

"(sigh) I love this movie." Tatiana sighed happily.

"Me too." said Timon.

"Did you know that the movie just came out four years later after Disneyland was open from 1955?" said Pumbaa.

"Yeah, that's what I heard of."

"Oh! That reminds me!" said Eddie.

"What is it, Eddie?" Marcy asked.

"There's something that I never get a chance to tell you, but when was your first visit to Disneyland?"

"It was like a few days after they adopted me when I was five. They just gave me the best surprise trip ever." replied Marcy.

"Very nice, but you want to know something?"

"Hmm?"

"When I went first visit with my grandparents when they gave me a surprise trip in just one day. And when I didn't notice that there was a little girl who bumped into me until I started to remember who she is." Eddie explained.

"Who?"

Eddie then gave her a smirk just for an answer. Marcy doesn't understand this at first, but then she started to remember slowly during her first visit.

"Hmm, in case I'm unfamiliar with, can you describe her what you last saw?"

"Well, she wears green overall dress, light yellow shirt, and Minnie ears headband. She also has an olive skin and a black hair." Eddie answered.

"Green overall dress, light yellow shirt, and Minnie ears headband. Heh, sounds like our little girl when we raised her." said Timon taking his drink.

But then, his eyes just went wide open, then he spits water out of shock.

"Our little girl?! Wait..." Timon paused as he looked at him stunned. "THAT WAS YOU?!"

"Surprise?" Eddie shrugged nervously.

"OH! MY! GOSH! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!" Marcy exclaimed when stunned.

"Not kidding!" Eddie laughed.

"OMIGOSH! OMIGOSH! OMIGOSH!"

Marcy put her hands on top of her head while standing up, finally realize that this boy was all familiar. Timon and Pumbaa took a glanced at each other when completely shocked while Tatiana was all confused.

"What's going on?" Tatiana confused.

"All this time! That boy I rammed by accident after we got off from Star Tours! It was you all this time! WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME BEFORE?!" Marcy freaked out, but with smiling.

"I really would've told you early, but I couldn't." Eddie answered, but calmly after standing up.

"Yeah, but why?!"

"I tried to tell my grandparents that you're here all this time. I didn't know that you were adopted, but until now."

"Hold on, you mean to tell me when Marcy bumped you when she ran off from us and didn't even think without telling us?!" Timon asked when raising his voice, a bit.

"Look, it wasn't like that! All I know is what my grandparents told me that you three have a happy life and it took eight years to waited out until I get older." said Eddie.

"Why didn't you just call her on the phone?" Pumbaa asked.

"I would, but I didn't even have your phone number."

"Wait, do you have your phone?" Marcy asked curious.

"Yes, I do." Eddie answered.

Eddie pulled out his phone and handed to her. Marcy looks through his contact and setup his phone number on her contacts.

"Done!" Marcy chimes.

"See? Problem solves! Who's next?"

"Pardon me, but I'm curious. If you two bumped each other when you were little, did you even tell your name?" Tatiana asked.

"Even if I would, no one will believe me except my grandparents." Eddie answered.

"It's alright, Eddie. We didn't know it was you." said Marcy.

"Are you sure?"

"I'm positive."

Just then when Pumbaa yawns.

"Oh boy, it's getting late." said Pumbaa.

"Yeah, we should get some rest, and since you are welcome here, you go to school tomorrow just to attend." said Timon.

"No need, I've already applied here before I was transferred from Hong Kong." said Eddie.

"Wait, are you going to the same school with me?" Marcy asked.

"Yep, I'm going with you to Saint James Middle School." Eddie answered.

"YAY! My brother is going to school with me!" Marcy hugged her brother.

"(chuckled) Well, that's the plan."

"Glad, you liked it here. Welcome to our family, son." said Timon kindly.

"Group hug!" Pumbaa chimes.

Timon, Pumbaa, and Tatiana got off from the couch as they joined a big group hug on Marcy on and Eddie. It was their first family warm hug.

"Oh! Almost forgot! Before we go to bed, who wants to take selfie with me?!" said Marcy hold out her phone.

"We do!" They all said together in unison.

"Alright, say 'cheese'!"

"CHEESE!"

Marcy raised her phone up high in selfie mode until she takes a picture. Then she looks at her phone smiling at the photo of herself with Eddie and her adopted family.

"Yes! Our first selfie with Eddie and my mom." said Marcy softly.

"Aw, come here." said Tatiana cooed at her giving her a hug.

"I love you, guys!"

"We love you too, pumpkin." replied Timon.

"Well, goodnight!"

"Good night!" They all said together in unison.

When Marcy ran upstairs to get ready for bed, they looked at Eddie warmly.

"Thanks for coming back for her, kid." said Timon softly.

"No problem, and thank you for taking care of Marcy. She means a lot to me." replied Eddie.

As the two shake their hands, Timon took a glance at his girlfriend before he starts to lift her up with a yelp.

"Oh! Timmy!" Tatiana exclaimed when smiles.

"C'mon princess, let's get our first beauty sleep." replied Timon.

They both giggled as they ran upstairs to the master bedroom until they closed the door. All that's left is Eddie and Pumbaa standing in the living room.

"Well, uh... I'll get this placed cleaned up." said Pumbaa before starts cleaning.

Later on, after Marcy got out from the bathroom with her pajamas after brushing her teeth. She stops for moment when she looked at her brother getting ready for bed while wearing his white tank top shirt and grey pants. She walks over to his room just to say goodnight him.

"Hey, Eddie?"

"What's up?"

"Just wanted to say thank you, for coming back for me."

"You're welcome. I'm just so glad that we get to see each other again."

"Yeah, tomorrow's gonna be a great day."

"Yeah, it sure is."

"Well, goodnight."

"Sleep tight."

"Don't let the bed bugs bite."

Marcy turns off the light from his room before closing the door. Eddie was staring at the door warmly, then he looked at his necklace when polishing, and then cling on gently as he sighed softly when starting to pray.

"Mom, dad, wherever you up there, I'm here now with Marcy. She's so happy to see me, but we missed you so much. I wish you're here to see us all grown up. We loved you... from the bottom of our heart."

Eddie lies down on the pillow and covered himself with his blanket and drifted into sleep peacefully. We looked outside from the house as the shooting star over pass as their wish finally come true.
