Chapter 37: One Friend To Another

Meanwhile at Disneyland, Tatiana was even happier since they've arrived after Timon and Pumbaa introduce her to everyone's favorite theme park. Timon already parked the car and clocked in before work under his permission with the manager.

They are now in Main Street after walking through backstage door. She looked around where all visitors are shopping and dining while walking towards to the castle. Children are hugging their favorite characters while the parents took pictures.

"Wow! It's beautiful!" Tatiana amazed.

"Welcome to Disneyland, the Happiest Place On Earth!" Timon announced.

"Where all the magic begins, built by Walt Disney and first open the magic kingdom in 1955. And then a couple of years later, we got a second theme park, known as Disney's California Adventure!" Pumbaa added.

"We got some attractions, entertainments, dining, and shopping." Timon continued.

"Are all magic is real?" Tatiana asked.

"That's right, but nobody knows that it's our little secret." replied Timon.

"So, what do you do while you're at work?"

"Oh, you'll see."

"You'll be in surprise where we have eight themed lands. Right now, were in Main Street U.S.A., then there's Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, New Orleans Square, Critter Country, and Mickey's Toontown." Pumbaa explained.

"Fascinating! How many rides are there?" Tatiana asked.

"A few." Timon answered.

They walk all the way to Adventureland as they have approach at the Jungle Cruise. Once they entered where people entered that has disabilities, the boat approach by the dock. Tatiana was surprised by all this.

"Well, here we are, Jungle Cruise!" said Timon.

"You pilot a boat?" Tatiana asked.

"Yep! I work here for over eight years." Timon answered.

"Is it safe?"

"Don't worry, luv. Most of the attractions have animatronics. No predators, no traps, all of this are one hundred percent safe!"

"Huh, Oswald is right. All of this are animatronics. I've never been on this theme park from my entire life. Except that Wasteland was once my home that has many attractions."

"True, but didn't I tell you that Pumbaa and I were the mascot of Wild About Safety?"

"(gasp) Get out!" Tatiana gasp with excitement.

"It's true! We've been working as mascot for many years. We even got our own websites and DVD's." Pumbaa explained.

"And our partnerships with any sponsors." Timon added.

"So, how'd you do?" Tatiana asked while pulled out her notes and pencil.

"First rule a number, walk. Don't run."

"Walk, don't run. Got it!" Tatiana wrote down some notes.

"For your safety, please keep your hands, arms, feet, and legs inside the vehicle at all times." said Pumbaa.

"Hand, arms, feet, and legs. So, what else."

"Drink plenty of water. You'll get fully hydrated when it comes with hot weather." said Timon offered a bottled water.

Tatiana kindly takes the bottled water and drink it.

"And another thing, don't feed anything to any animals. Like duck for example." said Pumbaa.

They looked at the ducks that eat crumbs of bread that was fed by a guy, but Timon noticed when sterned.

"Hey! Didn't you read the signs? Don't feed the animals!" Timon hollers.

The man apologizes before he left the area. Tatiana was confused at first.

"Well, it's unhealthy to feed bread to ducks." Pumbaa explained.

"Hmm."

Pumbaa go into the boat first, then followed by Timon, and he offered his hand to Tatiana to climb aboard.

"Madame?" said Timon kindly.

The woman in disguise accepts the offer by taking the man in disguise hand and climbed aboard. At least they're both wearing their VIP tags while Timon gives her a tour. He starts the engine and pilot the boat closely to the docking station where guests entered.

"Good morning, everyone and welcome aboard to the Jungle Cruise! Before we get started, for your safety, keep your hands, arms, feet, and legs inside the boat of all time and watch your kids. Then, I would like you to give you big warm welcome to my girlfriend. Give yourselves a big hand." Timon announced.

The passengers were applauding to Tatiana that she's blushing. She felt very touched and smiles warmly at him. She has never seen such humans that are kind to her before. Timon smiled back as he proceeds to cruise along the river.

Meanwhile back at high school, it took few hours for Eddie to fit in like went to science class as he writing down some notes about science and inventory. He remembers where he used to study science back in school.

Then he went to the library to read books about American history for short period before school starts. Later on, he went to biology class to study about plants and animals. Right now, he's been studying with Venus's flytrap on a pot as the fly landed until the flytrap eat it. Eddie was impressed while writing down note.

Finally, when it's lunchtime, Eddie looked at his phone to check the time meaning that he has enough time to see Marcy. He put on his backpack, went for an exit, and walk over to middle school until he arrives outside of school by cafeteria where some students are hanging out. Then he heard his sisters voice.

"Eddie! Over here!"

He looked at Marcy sitting at the table with her friends waving her hand, smiling. He walked over to the table just in time to see his sister, but noticed that there are Anne and Sasha with Darrel and Ivan with 12 year old boy.

He is younger than older kids. He wore a gray t-shirt with a blue collar and an "SJMS" crest embroidered on it, steel blue short, white socks, and red shoes, sitting with his friends while eating his lunch.

"Hey, sis! What's up?" Eddie asked sitting next to Marcy.

"It's going great!" replied Marcy before turned her head at her friends besides the girls. "Guys, this is my brother that I was talking about. He was transferred here from Taiwan to see me."

"Whoa, are you serious?!" Darrel asked.

"Yep! That's me." replied Eddie.

"Cool! I'm Darrel, Darrel Loyalitat. And this is Ivan and KJ."

"Nicknames for Kenji, but you can call me KJ for short." said KJ.

"Nice to meet you, Eddie." said Ivan.

"Nice to meet you, too. She told me a lot of stuff going on about you." replied Eddie while taking his sandwich out.

"Oh, definitely. My favorite hobby is helping out my dad for fixing cars. It was kind of my favorite thing."

"That's cool. I got my own truck, but with a little rusty."

"You are more welcome to come over to my house and tidy up a bit."

"Thanks." Eddie thanked him before eating his sandwich.

"Speaking of hobby, I've been doing tennis which is what I'm good at." said Anne.

"Really?" Eddie asked with his mouthful.

"Yeah, dude. I am the best tennis player of middle school."

"And I'm the captain of the cheerleader of middle school." Sasha added.

"I like to make videos and music just for fun." Darrel added.

"I play Pokémon games." KJ added.

"Wait, you play Pokémon? I play Pokémon too!" said Eddie.

"Really?! No way!"

"Yeah way! I've been collecting and trading cards for eight years."

"Cool!"

Marcy took a glance at Ethan who was holding a tray with plate of sandwich and milk after walk outside from cafeteria. She smiles before she waves her hand.

"Ethan! Over here!" Marcy hollers.

He looked at her waving hand with her friends. He smiles and walk towards to the table.

"Hi, Marcy. Hey, guys." Ethan greeted.

"Hey, Ethan." Anne greeted.

"What's up, man?" said Ivan.

"It was alright." replied Ethan.

He took a glance at Eddie before he asked.

"Friend of yours?"

"Oh! This is Eddie, my older brother." Marcy answered.

"Wait, that's your brother?" Ethan raised his eyebrows

"Hi. Nice to meet you." said Eddie.

Ethan stood froze like a deer. He didn't know that Marcy has a brother. Her older brother. He started to get nervous and felt comfortable around him. He thinks if Marcy's brother finds out about the relationship, he'll be furious.

"Um... uh..."

Eddie noticed that look. Marcy raises her left eyebrow when confused. Even her friends were confused as well.

"You okay, buddy?" Ivan asked.

"Uh...I gotta go!"

Ethan walks back inside the building with a hurry. All seven of them blinked their eyes twice.

"Is he okay?" Eddie confusingly asked.

"Meh, he'll be alright." Sasha answered before eating her sandwich.

"Are you sure? Ethan just ran off of all sudden." said Marcy.

"Yeah, I don't get it." Anne agrees.

"Me neither." KJ added.

Marcy didn't understand why Ethan just ran off. She was trying to introduce her brother to her boyfriend. What went wrong? Then she sighed and resume eating her lunch. Eddie couldn't tell what is up with him. Maybe he'll ever get to talk to him after school.

Later on, they finished up their lunch and still have time to hangout before class starts again. Eddie bids his new friends a farewell after they wave goodbye while Marcy is with him to show her something until they have arrived at the library.

"Is this where you visit every day?" Eddie asked.

"Yep, I come here a lot to read books for studying class like science and biology. I even learned languages from history class." replied Marcy.

"So, what language did you learn?"

"Let's see. Spanish, French, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, and Swahili."

"Whoa! That's a lot of language."

"I know, right?"

Marcy and Eddie have entered the library by walking through an entrance. Marcy is showing him around each section, but they have to hurry before class starts. Eddie is in fiction section to find something that's interest until he spots something.

He pulls out the book and looked at the fantasy novel that talks about the ring. He walked over to the checkout desk where librarian is sitting, checking out the book, and hand it back to him. Eddie shows a novel chapter to Marcy before she smiles.

They exited the library after she picked out a book that she can and head back to school. They stop walking and looked at each other before they split up to return to their school before the bell rang.

"See you after school." said Marcy.

"You too." replied Eddie.

They split up while waving at each other as they ran back to their school. Eddie ran through the main entrance to high school, run through the hallway, and head to the classroom where most students are in the debate club. Eddie took off his backpack and took a seat just in time before the bell rang.

He sighed in relief. Just then when a male teacher arrives wearing his glasses and red bow tie around his neck. He set the paper down on his desk before getting his students attention.

"Hello, and welcome back. Today, we have a new student who was transfer from Taiwan and I like to give you a brand warm welcome to our newest member of the debate team."

They clap their hands at Eddie as applause. He was flattered. Good thing he's been to school from his home country before he immigrates here. They cease their applause as the teacher start talking about the debate.

Eddie listened carefully while writing down his note. He'd enjoy hanging out with his sister along with her friends. Those girls seem kinda nice while the boys look cool, but he couldn't help but notice that this boy, Ethan was staring at him and ran off for no reason.

He shook off for a moment before continuing writing down his note. It won't be long after the bell rang when is school is out for a day. Eddie has gathered his belongings from his locker and close it. Just then, Bailey walked pass him while holding her book. He looked at her smile, but then he noticed something that there was a wet floor.

Without a warning, she steps on the puddle when slip and almost fall with a yelp, but luckily Eddie caught her with his arms on her back. She looked surprise to see Eddie who caught her just in time.

"Glad I caught you." said Eddie.

"Eddie!" Bailey surprised.

"Sorry about that!" The janitor man apologizes while mopping the floor.

"It's okay." replied Eddie.

He pushes her up gently before continuing walking out of school.

"Thanks for saving me." Bailey thanked him.

"No problem."

"So, how day was it?" Bailey asked nicely.

"It was great! I get to see Marcy during lunch. She introduces me to her friends. Anne, Sasha, Darrel, Ivan, and KJ. We talked a lot about our hobby."

"That's great! I knew you enjoyed it. I've known to her friends since kindergarten and then went over to her sixth birthday."

"Yeah, they seem nice and cool, but there's one person who was shy at first."

"Who?"

"Ethan, one of Marcy's friends."

"Oh, him! I remember him all right. Marcy talks a lot about him. I gotta say, he looks kinda cute."

"What makes you say that?"

"I'll tell you why. Did you know that he had a huge crush on her when they were kids?"

Eddie went into blank mode all of sudden.

"Wait, what?"

Bailey realizes that she accidentally spilled the beans in front of him.

"Oh, shoot. I never should have said that out loud." Bailey muttered.

"What do you mean?" Eddie asked curiously.

"If I told you, will you promise not to freak out?"

"Why would I ever do that?"

Bailey quickly took a glance left and right with her eyes before she whispers.

"Marcy already knew that Ethan has a crush on her. They've known each other since kindergarten. She told me last night that they went out for lunch, then the arcade, then went straight home before they split up." Bailey explained.

"So, you're saying that my sister has a boyfriend?" Eddie asked.

"Well, maybe?"

"Hmm. No wonder why he just ran off when I was with her."

"He's very sensitive during school. The only people I know who's bullying him is Maggie. She likes to make fun of everyone including Marcy and Anne. Except for Sasha, who's protecting them from Maggie and other bullies."

"How many bullies are there?"

"I honestly don't know how many they are, but I'm pretty sure that some went to community service, reformatory school, suspended, or expelled."

They have approach at the bike parking rack where it shows red bike that belongs to Bailey. She unlocks the lock with her numbers and then put it away in her pocket.

"You know something? I don't like bullies. They make fun of me when I was a kid. I almost got myself into trouble, but my grandfather told me that I should never pick a fight at school. Then he just signed me up for karate class or Tai Kwan Do for short in order to defend myself. And after that, when they picked on me again, I just... walk away and left alone in peace." Eddie explains his story.

"Wow. That was very nice."

"Uh huh, that's what I do. My grandfather once told me that you should never turn your back on someone."

"Your grandfather seems so nice."

"Thanks, guess I'll see you tomorrow then?"

"Of course. You know, I was thinking if I could invite you and your sister to come over for dinner. My mom is planning to make some spaghetti."

"Really?" Eddie asked.

"Sure, if it's up to your parents. I mean, adopted parents. Whenever you like."

Eddie hasn't thought about it at first, but since he first visits last night to talk to the orphanage caretaker about his sister. If Marcy is Bailey's best friend, then he could be his friend too.

"That would be nice. I'll see what I can do to ask my- I mean her parents first." said Eddie.

"Great! Here's my phone number."

Bailey pulled out her small note that she wrote down and hand it to Eddie. He looked at her number and smile.

"Thanks."

"You're welcome. I'll see you tonight."

"Alright, take care."

"You too."

Bailey got on her bike and paddles away from him as the teen went straight home. Eddie was staring at her until she left. He looked at the phone number again before putting away in his pocket. He looked at his phone to check the time and head out to pick up his sister.

Back at middle school, Marcy has gathered up her belongings from her locker with her friends. Sasha has a lot of cheer practice to do before she snuck off. Darrel took his bike home to see his family. Ivan was picked up by his dad. Same goes for KJ.

Anne and Marcy are the only ones that just got out from school. Marcy is reading the novel while Anne is keeping an eye on her in case she wanders off before hurting herself. They have approach at the bike parking rack so that Anne can get her bike out. But then, they heard a raspy voice.

"Hey, Boobchuy!"

They turn around and saw Maggie who was standing there with a smug. Anne does not like being called that name.

"It's Boonchuy, Maggie. What do you want?" Anne asked sternly.

"Where's your boyfriend?" Maggie teased.

"He's not my boyfriend. I only did this just give you a back off."

"Oh yeah? What about MarCry? Is she your girlfriend, too?"

"NO! She's not! We're just friends! Right Marcy?"

"Right, just friends." replied Marcy.

"What are you gonna do? Call your daddy?" Maggie mocked them.

"HEY!"

Maggie went stunned. Anne and Marcy turn around and saw Eddie who was just walk fast towards her until he approaches them. He doesn't look too happy if anyone messes with Marcy or her best friend.

"Pick on someone your own size!" said Eddie sternly.

"Oh yeah! Says who?"

"Her own brother!"

Maggie went stunned. They could hear some middle school students that went gasp, whispering, and muttering. She was shocked that Eddie is Marcy's older brother. Maggie looked at Anne who went smirked while crossing her arm. Marcy smiles showing her teeth grinning. And then Eddie just smirked putting his fist on his hips.

"You got problem with that?" Eddie asked raising his right eyebrow.

"Uh...No! Of course not! You know what? I'm just gonna go. Don't want any trouble, man. I'm out of here." replied Maggie before she walks away with embarrass.

All students were surprised that Maggie just back down. They'll never going to forget that who's in charge and then they just walk away with impress. Eddie looked at his both Marcy and Anne smiling.

"You okay, sis?" Eddie asked.

"We're fine. Thank you." Marcy chimed.

"Thanks a lot, Eddie." said Anne.

"No problem. I just got a few words with Bailey when we got out. Does she always pick on you a lot?"

"Oh, definitely. She's the worst! She always picks on me and make fun of my family's traditions." replied Anne.

"Well, that sucks. I don't like any bullies."

"Yeah, totally agree."

"So, what kind of tradition?"

"I'm a Thai-American. My parents moved here from Thai before I was born. They own a restaurant called 'Thai Go', where I used to work with."

"Your parents runs the whole restaurant by themselves?"

"Yep."

"That's cool." Then Eddie looked at Marcy. "So, you ready to go?"

"You bet I am!" replied Marcy.

"I should be get going too. My mom needs me for something." said Anne.

"Okay, see you tomorrow!"

"Bye, Anne." Eddie waved.

"See you later, guys." replied Anne before she paddles off.

Marcy and Eddie walk over to the truck where he parked. They got inside, put on their seatbelt, and he turn the ignition when the engine starts.

"So, any plans for today?" Eddie asked.

"Yep! Just hanging out with my best brother." replied Marcy.

"Thanks, sis."

"Of course."

Eddie pulled up from the parking lot and drove away as they exit from the parking lot. When they pass by from somewhere, they didn't notice that they were being watch which it turns out that it was that same person who used to bully these girls and then he's working for his boss.

He's been watching them this whole time sitting in his car. He pulled out his old cellphone to contact until he hear someone picking up the phone. He was expecting to hear his boss annoyed, but he can hear his calm voice.

"Yes?"

"Boss, I have found the girl... with her older brother."

Uh oh! It appears that this person has found Marcy and Eddie, but we'll have to wait and see what happens next. Stay tuned for the next chapter!
