Ah, Trinity. The place for your local small-town heroes. You have your sorcerers, seers, enchanters, warriors, and the most deadly ones. Wizards. The word 'wizards' made enchanter Jonah Kinlock's mouth sour. Especially since he had to go to school with them. Partially one wizard by the name of Rowan DeVries. Jonah groaned. It was only first period and he wanted to go home, but couldn't. Besides, Natalie Diaz, Rudy Severino, Allison Shaw, and Mose Butterfield were expecting him for mandatory band practice. Even though he wasn't in the band. He was a part of Fault Tolerant (the band name), though he never liked the outcomes of being in a band. What happened to the music? Business, that's what. As he went into homeroom, he tried to sit, only to have his seat pulled from under him, He landed with an 'oomph' and glared behind him. Rowan smiling innocently. His hands sparkling from magic. Jonah wanted to punch him but couldn't. He didn't want a suspension. Rowan was only a couple years older on him. Why pick on a Junior?

"Dammit, Rowan, why can't you pick on someone your own age? Oh, wait...you can't!"

Rowan growls and comes close to him, pinning him to the ground, his hot hands too much for Jonah. "I'm only held back to see my favorite person..."

"Mandrake?", Jonah jokes.

Rowan sighs and goes to his seat.

As Nat came into the room, she frowns. Looking at Jonah.

Oh, sure, Nat. Like this was MY fault.

"Jonah, sometimes I wonder why you can't try to play nice.", says Natalie, helping Jonah up into his seat.

"You should be talking. Mrs. I Like To Yell Every Five Seconds."

"Rudy wants to do his own solos like an idiot."

"You sorcerers are all alike. Arrogent and jealous."

Natalie glares at him then laughs. "Good one, Kinlock.", she says, punching his arm, making him growl. Rowan whistles over at Nat and winks at her. Natalie comes over to pull his ear but Gabriel Mandrake, the homeroom teacher AND a sorcerer, came into the room, and sighs.

"Why can't you kids play nice?"

Natalie waves her arms. "That's what I told JONAH."

Jonah turns to her. "Dude...!"

Natalie mouths an apology. Mandrake shakes his head, scratching his close-cropped hair.

"Anyway, we have a new student-"

Rudy and Allison run into the classroom, both tired from perspiration.

"Mister Severino! Miss Shaw! Explain why you two are late...!"

Allison was the first to talk. "Can it, Mandrake! We're only a few minutes late!"

Rudy added, "Yea! Besides, Allison was too busy flirting with Fitch!"

"Hey! No I wasn't! And he's JASON."

"Fitch and Jason both look alike."

"No, they don't!"

"Hey!"

Allison and Rudy glanced at Mandrake, who was hopping mad. "Can we discuss this at a later point..?"

"Yes, Mister Mandrake.", they said in unison before sitting with Nat and Jonah, who couldn't help but laugh in silence.

"Jason and Fitch both look alike with their hair.", says Jonah.

"THANK you!", says Rudy. "And Jonah NEVER agrees with me in crap!"

Mandrake glares at Rudy but sighs. "Anyway, we have a new student to Trinity High. She's a sorcerer, so be nice. Jonah."

Jonah dropped his jaw and sneers. Natalie smiles and Allison laughs with Rudy. Rowan strokes his chin with interest.

Mandrake beckons out the door, and a caramel girl with her messy dark hair into a bun came in shyly. She looks at everyone, but her eyes stayed on Jonah, making him blush.

"Kids, this is Emma Greenwood. Be nice as she is still getting accustomed to Ohio.", says Mandrake.

Rudy rose his hand. "Where are you from?"

"Memphis.", says Emma quietly.

Allison, Nat and Rudy all looked at each other. Jonah already knew what they were thinking.

"No.", says Jonah.

"You don't-"

"Allison, I'm not stupid. We have too many people in the band. No more takers!"

Emma shyly sits up front, glancing back at them. Jonah was confused. Sorcerers weren't supposed to be shy, were they? But, she was different...and Jonah liked it. As Gabriel was going through the attendance list, Natalie taps on Emma's shoulder.

"You play?"

"Back in Memphis, I play some guitar."

"Interesting...", she says with a smirk.

"No, Nat," says Jonah. "No more players."

"Players?", asks Emma, curiously.

"Nat's looking for new recruits in our band, but no!"

"Ignore Jonah. He's fun-numb.", jokes Allison.

"I'm not! I jus think this is a bad idea-"

"Shut it, Jonah.", says Rudy. "C'mon, Em. JOIN us."

"I don't know...", says Emma. "I'm still getting around Trinity."

"So what?", says Nat. "It's a small damn town. What's to know?"

Jonah rolls his eyes and blows a piece of black hair from his face.

Nat turns to Emma, "So? Will you?"

Emma looks at them then at Jonah, who was scowling. "M-maybe. I still have to unpack. When's your next practice?"

"After class.", says Allison, smirking.

"Well. See you guys after class then."
