Junior prom was fast approaching. Kim had started dating a boy named Eric. Ron has adjusted to his new life which consisted of making sure Kim's dangerous missions were not so dangerous, his actual missions, and high school with all that entails. Ron's options for prom were slim. Bonnie was still dating Brick, Kim had Eric, and Monique and Felix seem to be on the verge of starting something. Ron would not have cared if his mom had not been haranguing him to find a date because he needed to be there in case Kim had a mission and he needed to tail her. Ron knew what he had to do. He was going to ask Tara. The two of them have interacted every now and then. Ron has been friendly with the Cheerleaders which was a lot easier after helping Bonnie out. They have also had some of the same classes so they interacted then. He has always enjoyed talking with her. She doesn't have a date yet from what Monique told him when she was grilling him about who he was going to ask.

Ron calmly approached Tara's locker before school started, but what was this nervous feeling. He thinks You have helped destabilize governments. You can ask someone out. Ron made eye contact with Tara and said, "Hi Tara. How are you doing today?" Not the best opening. This can be saved. I hope

Tara looked at him and saw a different Ron. A Ron that wasn't fully comfortable and was wondering why. Curious about his mood she answered, "I'm well, what's up?"

Ron got his courage up and said, "Could I ask you something?"

Tara smiled thinking he is going to ask me to prom. "Sure!"

Ron, "Would you like to go to prom with me?"

Tara hugged Ron and said, "Of course!"

Ron blurted out, "Badical"

As Ron and Tara were basking in excitement, a certain brunette who witnessed this interaction was not happy.

After school, Bonnie was fuming. She took out her phone and called the number she was given a little while back.

On the other end, "Is everything okay?" the voice said

Bonnie, now realizing this was a number to call if she was in trouble, answers, "I am fine, but we need to talk."

The voice answered, "Bonnie, don't scare me like that. We can talk. Let me know where and when."

Bonnie answered, "Sorry, Ron. Meet me at my house as soon as you can."

Ron answered, "Be there in 5 minutes."

Ron made his way over not sure what he did to get this cryptic angry call. As he gets to Bonnie's house he sees her open the door and she says, "Get in here." Bonnie escorts Ron to the living room. Once there she asks, "What is with the sudden interest in Tara? Didn't you tell me you were going to stay away from her?"

Ron answered, "I needed a date to the prom. I enjoy spending time with Tara. I promise I will be a perfect gentleman."

Bonnie probed, "Why did you need a date?"

Ron answered, "I was told I needed to be at the prom and I needed a date."

Bonnie continued, "Who told you?"

Ron answered, "My mom"

Bonnie digging her heels in, "Why did she do that?"

Ron answered again, "You would have to ask her. When I get a direct order, I follow it."

Bonnie fully committed, "Alright let me talk to her"

Ron, completely missing Bonnie's tone, starts laughing. After realizing that laughing was a mistake, by seeing the angry glare on Bonnie's face continued, "She is very busy and she did not divulge the details to me, so she is not going to tell you."

Bonnie kept probing, "What did she tell you?"

Ron placating Bonnie told her, "You need to get a date for the prom. You may have some undercover work to do there."

Bonnie was not satisfied, "What kind of work?"

Ron answered, "I am not sure." Before Bonnie could ask another question, Ron asked, "What is this really about?"

Bonnie getting defensive, "It is about you asking Tara to prom when you said you were not going to date her."

Ron cautiously asked, "Why does that matter?"

Bonnie blurts out, "You shouldn't be dating one of my friends after you kissed me and took care of me during the attempted kidnapping."

Ron replied, "It's not like I could date you"

Bonnie snapped, 'Why not?"

Ron answered, "You are still dating Brick."

An embarrassed Bonnie still trying to recover asks, "Is that why you have been avoiding me?"

Ron answered, "No."

Bonnie demanded, "Then why?"

Ron took a deep breath and said, "Because when I look at you I am reminded of what I did. I am not proud of what I did, but it was the right outcome. I have been told that is normal, but I still am adjusting to the reality of how it changed me. Each day it gets a little bit easier, and even though you are mad and yelling at me today. It is better today than the day before."

Bonnie, not understanding, asked, "They told me what happened, so what did you do that you are not proud of?"

Ron answered, "They told you a story not what happened."

Bonnie demanded, "Then tell me."

Ron said, "Can't"

Bonnie glaring at Ron, "Can't or won't?"

Ron answered, "Can't"

Bonnie fuming, "Why not?"

Ron answered, "Treason. You are not authorized to know what happened. Unless you are the president, part of the intelligence team for the president, run an allied intelligence agency where I have been given premise to debrief or the person running GJ or the president says I can tell you. I can't tell you."

Bonnie said, "Oh"

Ron asked, "Bonnie, do you want something to happen between us? Before you answer, let me make you aware of what my life entails. I have to keep secrets. I will be gone for extended periods of time and not tell you where I am or what I am doing, and when I get back I can't tell you what I did. I may have to pose as someone else's husband. There is a real chance that I leave for a mission and do not come back, and not just because I might have died, but because my cover has been blown, and it is no longer safe for me to be around you. Does this sound like someone you want to be in a relationship with?"

Bonnie realizing what Ron told her, "No, but why are you going with Tara? Why not someone who doesn't like you?"

Ron answered, "I do feel guilty about that, but I like spending time with Tara, and if for some reason I have to leave without an explanation you will be there to help her. Hopefully, I can just be there, be a great dancer, and give her a fun night, but that can't be guaranteed."
