AN: And so, begins the fourth chapter of the story! It's time to see just what Danny has been up to these past seven years. Let's see just what kind of a life he's made for himself, shall we?
Disclaimer: I still don't own Danny Phantom or any of the other franchises used in this story!
An Imperial Discovery Part 1
The empire beyond the Veil was a truly beautiful place. It resembled Feudal Japan in terms of architectural structure, though it incorporated elements from the many cultures that called the empire home and those who allied themselves with it. All was peaceful as the sun began to rise over the horizon and the citizens began to wake up and start their day while the night owls rested for their evening activities. Business owners were getting ready to open their shops, parents were waking their children to get them ready for school, and many a grown-up was getting ready to go to work.
Sunlight filtered into a large, ornate yet modest bedroom in the emperor's palace. As it was still early, the emperor was still asleep and did not appreciate the light of the sun hitting his face. He groaned as he tried to shield his face with one of his arms, only to find that he couldn't move them. Slowly opening his eyes, the emperor glared out the window at the star that grants the planet life.
'One day, you wretched star, ONE day… I shall find a way to defeat you!' he thought to himself in his groggy state.
Now that we get a good look at the emperor, we can see that he has a familiar, if somewhat longer, head of black hair with a white streak in it, and icy blue eyes.
That's right, it's Danny Fenton all grown up! And the years have been really good to him!
Thanks to his years of rigorous training with various masters of combat when he first arrived in the lands beyond the Veil, Danny's really bulked up. But unlike Dash and the Jocks back in high school, Danny's muscles were built for fighting instead of showing off. Though you can only tell because of the blanket outlining his now strong adult frame.
He spent his first three years beyond the Veil training and growing strong enough to end what had once been constant war throughout the land. He's seen soldiers fall, lost good friends in battle, and even almost died himself in the final battle to unite the lands and end the war. From his masters he learned swordsmanship, how to access and manipulate two inner energies known as Ki and Chakra, became strong in the Force and, unbelievably, built his own Lightsaber. He even learned how to bend the elements of fire and lightning, refined his martial arts abilities, and even gained access to his spirit energy, or reiryoku, to fight off threats on a spiritual level. And that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to his powers and skills!
After he was strong enough, Danny began a four-year campaign to end the war which was being fueled by a demonic warlord. A true malevolent spirit from a time not his own. It was the spirit of the Japanese Sengoku Warlord, Nobunaga Oda!
SURPRISE, BITCHES, IT'S… ghost samurai!
After many battles and uniting most of the lands, gaining many allies and a massive army of his own, Danny took the battle to Nobunaga as the final battle against the ghostly samurai warlord and his army of the undead. It was a long and grueling battle. Many of the soldiers ended up dying in the line of duty, ready and willing to die for Danny, whom they had already considered their ruler. All he would need to do was exorcise Nobunaga's spirit and bring about peace, and they'd make it official.
Daniel Fenton: the boy who'd come through the veil with nothing but a motorcycle and the clothes on his back… who'd seen his fellow warriors die… who wanted nothing more than to end the pointless loss of lives… he fought valiantly as he went head-to-head with Nobunaga. The spirit was strong, but Danny was fueled by the righteous goal of ending the war and allowing the lands to be at peace, as well as the righteous fury he felt due to so many warriors dying because of Nobunaga's sick machinations. One good stab where Nobunaga's heart would be using his spiritual weapon…
And it was finally over!
Nobunaga's malevolent spirit was dragged back to hell where he would suffer eternal damnation for his sins, and his undead army decayed to dust! With the war over, everyone who had been fighting had finally felt something that none of them had felt in many years… pure, unrelenting joy!
Everyone cheered and laughed, brothers and sisters in arms hugged each other and celebrated the end of a millennia long war! Finally, after so long, they could be at peace with each other. And after that last battle, it was decided that Danny would be crowned the emperor of the Unified Veil Empire, as the people had come to call their new society. At first, Danny tried to turn down the position and crown stating that he wasn't fit to lead an empire, and that he had no knowledge of how to do so without everything falling apart as quickly as it formed.
But his mentors stated that if he could lead an army of men and women into battle and unify the once warring countries of the empire, then he was more than capable of leading an empire. Besides that, he wasn't going to be alone. He would have his mentors, the Saiyan warrior Goku, or Kakarot as some called him, the Seventh Hokage Naruto Uzumaki, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, Monkey D. Luffy; King of the Pirates, Firelord Zuko, and the Soul Reaper known as Ichigo Kurosaki acting as an advisory board to help him with the big decisions and helping him manage the empire until Danny was fully capable and confident in himself to rule on his own.
Well, technically he's not alone because during his war campaign he made some rather… shall we say… special connections.
Danny was interrupted from his thoughts of destroying the sun when two sleepy groans that were undoubtedly female were heard. He smiled as he looked to his sides to see two beautiful young women asleep and clutching his arms. These were two of his wives, all of whom married him willingly.
The lady on the left was a fair-skinned beauty with long, dark pink hair that fell past her shoulders, and was currently in a braid to keep it out of the way as she slept. On his right was a rather enchanting woman with dark bronze skin, long silver hair, and three solid, sharp purple triangle marks on her face. On on her forehead and one on each side of her face.
These two are Tayuya and Urd, two of Danny's wives and empresses to the Unified Veil Empire.
Danny smiled lovingly at the two as they slept, still wondering what he did to deserve the love of the women he calls his wives. And still quite surprised that Tayuya, Urd, and Danny's other wives agreed to share him like they did. Since he wasn't really a ladies' man back when he was in middle school and high school, Danny still had some self-confidence issues when it came to the opposite sex. But they were minor now, as his lovely wives had managed to tear down the walls of doubt that he had built around himself and helped forge an armor of self-esteem and confidence that really helped reveal the brilliant young man that Danny is.
A knock at the door alerted Danny to the presence of someone.
"Enter!" Danny said.
The door opened to reveal one of Danny's generals, Captain Soi-Fon, the leader of the Stealth Force. She and her squad were tasked with preserving the security of the empire from the shadows, which was fine by them as stealth and assassinations were her squad's specialty. Soi-Fon herself is a relatively short, petite young woman with long black hair done up in twin ponytails that reach the small of her back, fair skin, and brown eyes. She's currently wearing a set of black samurai style robes that are the uniform of the Shinigami.
"My Lord. A thousand pardons for disturbing you so early." Soi-Fon said as she bowed. "I bring news from the border. A group of people has come through the Veil and crossed into imperial territory."
If Danny wasn't fully awake before, he certainly was now.
"How many?" he asked.
"I apologize, my lord, but they were traveling in an armored vehicle of sorts. And the driver was speeding through like a complete and utter maniac, so we couldn't tell." Soi-Fon replied, not liking the results of that particular experience. "I did, however, have some of my men follow them from the shadows using the Flash-Step. We won't lose them again if I have anything to say about it."
Danny's eyes narrowed slightly at the report that Soi-Fon had given him. There's only one armored vehicle he knows of with someone who drives like that. And it's someone who he knows well. He sighed and straightened up as he popped his back.
"Good thinking, Soi-Fon. Have your men be ready to apprehend these intruders as quickly as possible. If these people are who I think they are, I'm going to want them brought to the palace to see what they want. But be sure that you take precautionary measures when doing so." Danny ordered.
The petite woman snapped to attention and gave a quick salute before leaving the emperor's bed chambers to carry out her task.
"So, the fuckers from your old home finally grew some balls and decided to come here, did they?"
Danny wasn't at all surprised by Tayuya's use of crass language. He learned early on that she had something of a sailor's mouth and was pretty damn proud of it. Since dating Danny and later marrying him, however, she's been cutting back on her cursing. But what can she say? Old habits die hard. He looked into his now wide-awake wife's beautiful brown eyes as she sat up revealing that she was wearing a simple red nightgown while Urd was wearing a purple silk pajama shirt and pants. Both ladies looked concerned for their husband, knowing that he's been trying not to let his negative feelings towards his old home and those who drove him away come to the surface. But they knew that all that would do was give him terrible emotional health.
Danny just smiled and gave both of his wives a loving kiss on the lips as he got up, revealing his masculine upper body as he was sleeping without a shirt on. If one were to compare Danny to his skinny fourteen-year-old self, they'd say that he got jacked! And they would not be wrong. Thanks to years of training and fighting, Danny's body looked as though it had been sculpted from the finest marble by the most famous artists. His arms were thick and strong as shown by how his biceps and triceps rippled and flexed under his skin, his pectorals were hard as diamond, and he had an eight pack that looked like you could grind meat on it easily!
But along with those muscles were numerous scars. All of them obtained from fighting in a war for four straight years. Sure, there had been the occasional ceasefire or two, but he was mostly fighting if he wasn't making alliances and establishing peaceful relations with the many countries of the lands beyond the Veil. Truly, he was a seasoned veteran.
"You certainly have a way with words, Tayuya." Danny said as he walked to his closet.
"Are you going to be okay, Love?" Urd asked.
Danny paused and replied with "Honestly, I don't know. I've been trying to mentally and emotionally prepare myself for this day since I first left, but seeing them all again for the first time in seven years? I have no idea what to feel right now."
Both ladies got up and walked over to their husband before embracing him, knowing that he needed the emotional support at the moment. He held them both in his strong arms, basking in the love and warmth of his wives and forever grateful for them and their fellow wives & empresses. They helped to heal most of his emotional wounds, and even though some remain they are not as deep as they were before.
"Well, whatever happens, know that we're all here for you, Danny. We won't let them do anything to hurt you ever again." Urd said as she planted a kiss on his cheek.
"Yeah! And if they try anything, I'll introduce them to my Doki and see how they like having a bite taken out of their souls!" exclaimed Tayuya.
Danny couldn't help but laugh at that remark.
"You ladies always know what to say to cheer me up." Danny said with a big smile. "Come on, let's get ready for the day. The council will be convening today, and we're expected to be there."
Tayuya groaned and asked "Do we have to be there? Those meetings are always so boooooring!"
Urd giggled at her sister-wife's behavior, knowing that she had a very short attention span when it came to anything political. She didn't really have to complain much since her old occupation had her dealing with politics in some form or other, but like Tayuya she also didn't like having to go to meetings with the council. But at least they weren't like the corrupt councils that certain places had that were full of greedy politicians who only cared about fattening their own wallets and increasing their own power.
Danny chuckled as Tayuya gave him the dreaded puppy-dog eyes.
"You know that those eyes don't work on me, Tayuya. Besides, it'll be good to see our old friends again." Danny said.
Tayuya pouted at her failed attempt to get out of going to the meeting but knew that her husband was right about one thing. It would be nice to see their friends again. But hopefully this meeting would be over quickly, and she could go back to doing what she loves the most. Playing her flute out in the palace garden.
The two lovely ladies reluctantly released their grip on Danny and went to get ready for the day, starting with washing up.
They're certainly glad that the architects who designed and built the palace included hot springs. Those would be perfect for waking up and relaxing a little bit before the meeting.
With Vlad & Company...
"Vladdie, I don't mean to sound like I doubt you or anything, but are you sure this is going to work?" Jack asked.
About twenty minutes ago, Jack had managed to find a parking space in the capitol of the empire and quickly... and I emphasize 'quickly'... parked the RV. Once everyone staggered out and regained their bearings, with Jazz threatening to knock her father's teeth out if he kept driving like a drunk monkey on cocaine, they made their way to what looked like an immigration center. Vlad had explained to them that the first phase of the plan was to infiltrate the empire using fake IDs that he provided for them all, stating that they had been made by the most professional hackers money can buy. And trust me when I say that money is certainly no issue for Vlad due to him still being a very successful businessman.
Sam had to admit that, upon first glance, the IDs and passports provided looked completely legit. Even Tucker couldn't find anything incriminating in them, and he's the most tech savvy individual of the group, besides maybe some of the GIW agents who, for camouflage purposes, were no longer dressed as government agents. Instead, they had all changed into civilian attire at a nearby clothing store stating that they had just gotten out of a formal event and didn't have time to change, so they needed to borrow the changing room for a moment. Amazingly enough, the employees gave them the okay.
Vlad simply smiled and waved off his former friend's (now most hated enemy's) concern about the plan.
"Of course, I'm sure, Jack. We have nothing to worry about. Now, come along. It looks like it's our turn." Vlad replied confidently.
There were some members of the group, namely the remnants of Team Phantom and Valerie, who had their doubts, but they followed along anyway as the evil Halfa made his way up to the registration counter.
"Hello there! May I help you, nya?" asked the receptionist...
Who was a woman who had fully functional cat ears and a tail! Needless to say, this threw everyone in the group for a loop as they had no idea such things could exist in the mortal realm. Jack had to fiercely fight down his usual instincts to whip out a weapon while screaming 'GHOST!' at the top of his lungs, and fortunately managed to win that fight. Vlad was the first to recover and quickly put up his kindly businessman persona.
"Why yes, you may. You see, my entourage and I have come here hoping to immigrate to the empire for better lives. And we were also hoping to meet the emperor himself, if it's not too much trouble." Vlad said.
"Well, I'm not sure if or when you'll be able to meet with the emperor, as he is a very busy man, but I'm certain that immigration should be no problem, nya. I'll just need to see some identification." said the receptionist.
Vlad nodded as he and the rest of the group handed her their fake IDs and passports. She gave them to another worker who took them to the back where he ran them through a specially made security scanner. These scanners were capable of identifying the validity of any ID, regardless of how well they were made and how thorough the hackers who made them were. As the scanner flashed 'FALSE' for every ID and passport scanned, the employee gave the receptionist a barely noticeable shake of the head to show that the information was fake, and she quickly pressed a button under her desk.
"Okay, you're all set." she said as she handed them back the paperwork. "You'll all be staying at the Western Springs Hotel. Arrangements have already been made. If you'll just head out to your vehicle, a driver will be by shortly to guide you there."
Vlad thanked her before telling Jack that he (Vlad) would drive. Once they were out of hearing range, the receptionist dropped her smile as her ears went flat against her head. She'd been sensing some bad aura from most of that group, especially from that Vlad person. She looked to the shadows of a nearby open janitor's closet.
"Did you hear all of that, Captain?" she asked.
Stepping out of the shadows as if she had melded perfectly with them, Soi-Fon had a smirk on her face like the cat that ate the canary.
"Western Springs Hotel. Got it. You're an excellent member of the Stealth Force, Yumi. Your ability to hide in plain sight and gather information like you do is so good, it's scary. I like that." she said to her Lieutenant.
Her old Lieutenant, a fat, big-lipped, near bald man named Omeada, had been one of the casualties in the war. But he was a casualty that nobody mourned for. He was weak, cowardly, and disrespected Danny's authority every chance he got! And nobody approved of that, especially since all of Omaeda's plans always ended up blowing up in his face. Sometimes literally! He died in an earlier fight between Danny's army and a small army of Nobunaga loyalists who had taken one of the countries as a hostage. He ran into a tree before being overrun by the more powerful and well-armed loyalists while he was trying to get away from the battle. His body was near unrecognizable by the time his remains had been found. The Head Captain of the Shinigami, Genryusai Yamamoto, noticed Yumi's particular set of skills and how well she carried on with her life with such a positive attitude despite the discrimination she faced as a Neko, not to mention her fighting abilities as he's witnessed her skills with her Zanpakuto's released state, so he and the rest of the captains promoted her at Danny's reccomendation in order to boost the morale of the army's human/beast hybrids and mythical creatures.
She's the first foot soldier among the Omitsukido to ever skip past the other ranks and become a Lieutenant! And she was damn proud of it!
"Thanks, Captain. I just hope to get a shot at them before we bring them before Emperor Daniel for questioning, nya.~" Yumi said, ears perking up as she was giddy with anticipation.
"And you will, Lieutenant, in time. Just be patient. We'll strike tonight and bring them to the holding cells before bringing them to Emperor Daniel in the morning. Once we go to apprehend them, you can punch as many of them in the face as you like." Soi-Fon said, the grin never leaving her face.
Yumi saluted before going back to her undercover work as a receptionist, which was also her actual second job as she needed the extra money for this house she was looking to buy and move into, while Soi-Fon melded back into the shadows to tail her quarry. Things were certainly going to get a lot more interesting, that's for sure.
