073. Light

Disclaimer: I love the Young Wizards series. Everyone should read it. And because I didn't write it (Diane Duane did), this isn't just meaningless drivel.

Author's note: I never, ever thought that I would write something like this in this universe. I'm not sure what to make of it. Part of my modified 100 fic challenge.

She was bright noon, a light that shone through all the darkness in the world. The fire of entropy might burn her, as it would eventually burn everything, but she had the certainty that it would only burn away what she could afford to lose.

She did not worry about burning out. She used to, when she first felt her power diminishing. But Nita told her she was just settling into a less impressive but more versatile power, the way a fire burns down into coals.

The funny thing was Dairine still believed Nita knew what she was talking about.
