Life was insane when you thought about it, Draco thought as he opened the envelope. He knew what the reply would be, yet there was a spark of hope that it might not be no.

He had applied to teach Potions at Hogwarts, with zero experience, and zero everything else, minus a reputation. He was a Malfoy, after all.

So here he was, quivering with the suspense he was giving himself. Draco breathed deeply, closing his eyes, and pulled the parchment out of the envelope.

Dear Mr. Malfoy, it read in dark green ink. Okay, good. McGonagall had remembered his name.

We are pleased to accept your offer. Draco's pulse skyrocketed and he practically fainted. Life was officially insane.

Please be present on the 31st of August.

Sincerely, Prof. Minerva McGonagall,

Headmistress

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Draco sat back, with a hand on his forehead. Phew. Well, that was a shocker. Another leaf of parchment floated to the floor, and he picked it up. Oh, Christ, a teacher's list. Well, nobody he really knew…brilliant! He wouldn't have to socialize.

Draco Malfoy was an aloof, cold-hearted person. He didn't know that this year, all of that was about to change.

A/N – clichéd, I know…but this is going to have a few twists, foreseen by the author.
