FIVE MONTHS AGO - LOS ANGELES, CA
Hank Summers passes back and forth in his motel room as he stares at his phone waiting to hear from Buffy, just impatiently waiting to hear that Buffy had gotten Christopher to his parent's house.
That was the only place he would be safe.
The head of the Summers household couldn't help but hate himself, if he had just believed his parents all those years ago if he had believed Buffy and had told his parents who she was they would have been able to help them all.
But no he didn't believe in creatures of the dark or spirits, and his Hunter Parents hadn't exactly been pleased when he called them all crazy, and none of them were pleased when he thought his own daughter was crazy almost 10 years ago.
However, now he knew the truth, what happened to Dawn, it matched the story he was told by an old family friend over 20 years ago. His daughter, his parents were all right and he had been too blindsided to believe any of it, which had cost him the life of his youngest daughter.
Buffy and Chris were all he had left and he had to make sure they were safe.
While Chris would be safe with his parents...he knew Buffy wouldn't stop till she found the demon that killed her sister. She had already changed so much in the past month, she was angry and distant...and there was only one person he knew that could help her.
Someone who probably would never want to speak to him but he was out of options now.
As his phone begins ringing he sighs in relief as he spots his daughter's name pops up on the screen "Are you safe?"
"Yeah just got here. Grandma's putting Chris to bed, Grandpa's pouring the booze and reloading my car with weapons. It's fun."
Hank sorts at that, Buffy barely knew her grandparents but he had a feeling she and her grandfather were going to get along just fine.
"Okay...call me when you find the next lead and Buffy..."
"I know...Bye, dad." With that, the blonde hangs up and Hank sighs in worry before sitting down on the squeaky bed and staring down at his phone not at all looking forward to the call he was about to make, but he had a feeling something bad was going to happen to him, now that Christopher was safe he needed to make sure Buffy would be too.
Twirling his phone in his hand for a few minutes he sucks it up before dialing a number he hadn't used in 10 years.
"What do you want Hank? You lock your daughter in another institution?"
Hank winces at that, yes he made a mistake but he was so sure his parents' stories were nothing by urban myths and that Buffy was just seeing things, he had been wrong he knew that now "Dawn's dead."
There is silence on the other end of the line for a long minute before the man sighs "I'm sorry, Hank."
"It was the demon, John." Hank finally fesses up, he was so sure of it, the way Buffy described seeing Dawn on the ceiling before she burst into flames, it was just like the story John told him about what happened to Mary. Down to every last detail, it was the same.
"How do you know?"
"Buffy was there. She got the baby out in time but she couldn't get to Dawn. She's dropped Christopher off with my parents but she's going after the demon John. She may be a Vampire Slayer but she needs help and she won't take it."
Sighing he runs a hand over his head before inhaling tightly, he didn't how he knew but he just knew he wouldn't be around to help "I think someone's after me, John. And I know after what happened last time you don't owe me anything but...she won't stop and I need you to look out for her. Take care of her."
And with Hank hangs up before smashing his phone onto the ground he needed to get back on the move, whoever was after him it wouldn't be long before they tracked him down again.
Grabbing his bag his moves out of his room only for his eyes to widen as a blonde woman with short hair smirks up at him, her eyes flashing black.
"Hi, Hank. I think we need to have a little chat."
BROOKLYN, NYC – TWO AND A HALF MONTHS AGO
Buffy climbs out of her grandfather's blue jeep her platform boots clicking against the pavement as she circles around the car and opens the boot. She had to admit since learning her grandparents were previous hunters she never ran out of weapons, she was pretty sure her grandfather Stewart was living vicariously through her as he wasn't hunting anymore, apparently learning his granddaughter was The Slayer was greater than the birth of his son. Grabbing her brunette wig and her sunglasses she places them on before reaching for the darts, since she was about to break into a police cell she couldn't exactly get all slicy dicey with her scythe, and these darts were filled with some weird mojo thing that meant you're sleeping the sleep for at least 12 hours, the scythe would have to wait for the demon they currently had locked up in one of their holding cells.
This was the first time in 3 months that she had any link to this demon that killed Dawn.
Loading them into the gun she couldn't help but groan, she hated guns but it was the quickest way to get in right now. Hooking the scythe onto her side holster she grabs her leather jacket and begins making her way into the police station.
Walking over to the desk she presses the bell before smiling at the officer with her sweet innocent little girl smile.
The office smiles at her brightly "What can I do for you, sweetie?"
The blonde tilts her head before smiling "Just checking this is where Sarah Tumor is being kept right?"
"I'm sorry ma'am I can't answer that."
"I'll take that as a yes." The blonde says with a smirk before she pulling out her gun aiming it at the officer "Sleep tight." She says sweetly before firing and the second the dart hits him he stumbles backward and his eyes flutter close before he finally collapses straight to the ground. The blonde's eyes widen and she couldn't help but whistle "Damn that's quick." She whispers before pulling off her jacket and heading through the metal detector. As she begins reloading her gun with another dart she whistles at the two officers stood in the middle of the room. "Seriously guys the alarm is going off? Still nothing? Wow, no wonder I've never been arrested." She snarks before firing the dart at one of the guards, as he drops the blonde steps forwards and swings her leg out knocking the other cop's coffee out of his hands before leaping up and kicking him across the face sending him crashing straight to the ground.
Reaching into her pocket she reaches for the knock-out gas bomb "Meeting's over." She yells before throwing the bomb into one of the meeting rooms before reloading her gun shooting straight away as another officer runs at her. Spinning around she kicks another cop in the gut as she reloads her gun, as he stumbles she shoots him in the face before raising her gun blocking a cop's arm as he runs at her, wrapping her arm around his neck she launches him through the air sending him flying through the air before he goes crashing to the ground.
Walking down the hall she waves as she spots more and more cops moving towards her "This is going to be fun." She breaths before firing the first shot at one of the guards, as she reloads she kicks a guard in the kneecap before leaping up and swinging her leg around at another guard.
Ducking under the arm of another guard she stands back up and drives the but of the gun into his nose before grabbing his tie only to groan as it pulls right off "A clip-on?" She questions "You're a grown man?!"
Rolling her eyes she swings the gun smashing him across the face sending him crashing into an office off to the left.
Reloading her gun she fires as she spots another cop coming at her, when she misses she groans in annoyance before cartwheeling towards him, her left leg slamming right into his face sending him flying down the stairs.
Sighing in annoyance she roads the gun only for her eyes to widen as she spots a real gun in her face using her gun she blocks just as he fires and the bullet goes right past her head. Swinging her leg at his knee she grabs his wrist squeezing it tightly causing him to drop the gun right into her palm "These things? Useless." She tells him before bending the metal in half, ignoring his horrified look she uses the dented gun and slams it across his face knocking him out cold.
Walking over his body she heads straight into one of the main offices aiming her gun at the officers "What cell is Sarah Tumor in?"
When no one answers her the blonde rolls her eyes before bending down and lifting up a desk and launching it across the room, smirking she turns to the now terrified cops "Should we try that again?"
"Cell 6!" One of the elder cops in blue cries his voice shaking heavily, the blonde turns watching him for a long moment before stepping closer to him and taking the key card off his suit "I like you. You're helpful. Bye now."
With that the blonde leaves the room and heads towards the cells, using the key to unlock the door she heads in before sighing as the next door wouldn't open. Groaning the blond turns to the electric board next to it, sighing she groans in annoyance she had a feeling this was not going to go well but she didn't have time for this. Punching her hand through the board she rips out the wires, turning her head she smiles brightly as the door clicks open "I enjoy being a girl." She breathes happily before stepping into the cell room only for her enjoyment to quickly fade as the sprinklers begin malfunctioning covering her in water.
"Great." She breaths "Buffy let's just rip out everything and not think. Brilliant idea Buff." She huffs before sighing and ignoring all the yelling guys in the other cells as she walks over to cell 6 where the red-headed demon was sat in her human form "Hi Sarah. Long time no see. Loving the red hair. Very redneck chic."
"Slayer." The demon hisses her eyes flashing black "What do you want?"
"You know what I want. Where's the demon?"
The redhead laughs loudly before revealing a shiv in her hands "He'll find you." And with that, she drives the blade into her neck, ripping open her own throat.
"No!" Buffy screams as she grabs onto the metal bars and yanks the door off before running over to the demon and grabbing her, she could not die right now, she needed her information, this was the only lead she had, 3 months of work and if she dies that was it, she was back to square one!
"No, no, no!" She stammers as she tries to stop the bleeding but the demon merely laughs before she opens her mouth and black smoke spills out of her mouth.
"No!" The blonde screams in frustration before she stands and punches the wall, this could not be happening, how could her life get any worse?
As though the universe just loved the screw with her the blonde freezes as she hears every other cell in the room unlock, turning around her eyes widen as she spots five men walking out of their cells, "Maybe my life can get worse." She whispers before walking out into the middle of the cell room.
Today could just not get any worse.
"Hey, pretty lady."
Buffy turns towards the criminal speaking to her and slams the gun into his gut before he could get his hands on her, as he stumbles she swings the gun at his kneecap sending him crashing straight to the ground.
Spinning around she swings the gun again swinging it up at another criminal as he runs at her sending him flying through the air and slamming into one of the cell doors before landing on the wet floor.
Launching her gun at another one of the men she quickly ducks as one of the men runs at her, grabbing his arm she twists it before spinning them around, as he stumbles slightly she holds onto his arm and leaps in a front tuck over his arm before throwing him to the ground.
Spinning around on the floor she climbs onto her knees before flipping the black hair out of her face and swinging her leg around knocking the feet out of the next guy from under him.
As he drops the blonde grabs her gun which was by her feet and swings it at his face.
Spinning around she stands and ducks behind an open cell door before grabbing onto the door and slamming it into the next guy's face as he stumbles she leaps onto the door and uses it to swing herself towards him, bringing her knee to his face she then presses her foot on his shoulder and uses the momentum to leap through the air tackling the final guy to the wet floor.
Standing up the now drenched Slayer sighs before her eyes widen as she hears cops running down the hall towards the cell block "Oh no." She breaths before running to the back of the room, yanking the chain off the exit, she tosses the chain to the ground before running into the evidence room.
Slamming the door shut behind her she panics as she hears more guards heading her way, she had a feeling they were machine gun-friendly.
However, before she could panic a black jeep crashes through the wall from the street and Buffy jumps slightly. Grabbing the scythe from her holster she moves to launch it only for her eyes to widen as she spots a face she hadn't seen since she was 15, the first hunter she had ever met. The last time she saw him he was punching her dad in the face.
"John?" She breathes "John Winchester?"
John smiles at the blonde as he climbs out of his car, she looked very different from her old self, gone were the colorful skirts and dresses, instead, she was in black leather trousers and a white tank top with a really bad brunette wig on her head.
However, she had scars on her knuckles and blood on the white shirt, so it was safe to say this was not the same terrified little girl anymore.
"Hey, Kiddo."
Pausing his eyes widen as he spots heavily armed guards moving into the room "Get in the car!" He yells at her as he climbs back in, the blonde turns her head wincing at the sight of the guards moving into the room, running over to the jeep she leaps into the car, and as she yanks off the brunette wig revealing her long blonde hair she turns to John in shock "What are you doing here?" She asks as they speed down the road away from the police station.
John chuckles in amusement as he glances at the blonde "You and I have something in common kid. We need to have a little chat."
