Disclaimer:
Tennis no Oujisama/The Prince of Tennis belongs to Konomi-sensei. This poem is vaguely AU. To better understand this poem (and know who the characters are), you have to have watched/read the Rikkai Dai Arc. I only own this idea. Thank you.
Gentleman; Trickster
Genteel, polite, reserved;
Sly, offensive, wild
White and Black:
The Gentleman and the Trickster
He smiles, he charms
He smirks, he bewitches
Like the meeting of snow and fire
Resistance is futile
Nonexistent
When he says, "It's good to see that you're fine."
"It's no fun if you go down easily," he will mirror.
Water and Ice:
The Playmaker; the Strategist
A bullet from far; a soundless crumble
A dagger through crimson; glassy eyes stare back
The Gentleman reveals a grin
The Trickster observes in silence
Before their grey whirls away
My first poem in about... a year. My first poem on D1 (hope manga readers coiuld tell). My first ever anything on Rikkai Dai. This was written for school actually (hence I took a little more liberty with characterisation to make it a more effective paradox). It's a wonder how I manage to incoporate fanfic ideas and the likes into school. This is not the first time I've done something like this (ie. base narratives on anime), but it is the first time with a poem. Because I don't write poems if I can help it. Imagery is all fine and dandy with me, but they get lost in transition from brain signals to hand movement when dealing with poetry.
A huge THANK YOU togivingground of LiveJournalfor providing me with help on nailing the characterisation for Yagyuu and Niou as well as pospraiser01 of LJfor that greatessay on D1! But mostly, I have to thank my cousin for borrowing Tenipuri manga Vol. 24 as that's where I found out about the dynamics of manga!D1 firsthand and the all-important Switch. Which resulted in the inspiration for this poem (and me falling in love with the Platinum Pair). Thank you Konomi-sensei too for giving us such wonderful characters to use!
