My Protector

I'm protecting you – that's what he'd said, when he'd broken up with Sam McCall. And for a while, she'd believed that Jason's breaking up with her had been for her own good, but with each passing day, Sam realized that by protecting her, he was hurting her.
Jason had even gone as far as kissing Elizabeth Webber, to prove the point. But Sam knew, just by looking into his eyes, that he was missing her just as much as she was missing him. But we can't be together, my life's too dangerous – he'd told her, when she'd said that she couldn't live her life without him, and knew that he couldn't live his without her either.
It had soon becoming too heartbreaking for Sam to bear, so she'd left Port Charles – bearing a secret.
It was supposed to have been goodbye – just one night of loving, before they let each other go. But what they hadn't known was that night would have life altering consequence.
Lila Natasha Morgan – that was their baby girl's name. Sam often wondered what her daughter's life would've been like if Sam had remained in Port Charles. Would she have known her father or would Sam have kept her parentage a secret?
Sam wasn't proud of what she'd done – not telling Jason that he was a father . . . but he didn't want Sam — couldn't have her, not as long as he was in the business. And having a child would only complicate things. Would only make Jason worry more . . . so, this is what would have to be, right?
"Mommy, where we going?" the two-year-old little girl asked, squirming in her mother's lap. Lila had been mesmerized by the lights and sounds of the plane . . . not to mention, the people on the plane. She's a real observer, Sam thought.
"We're going home, pumpkin," said Sam, bouncing her restless daughter on one knee. Lila smiled up at her mother, her curls bouncing with each of her mother's motions.
"See daddy?" asked little Lila Natasha – Natasha, after Sam's mother, Alexis. Though, Sam's last encounter with her newfound mother hadn't been pleasant – Alexis wanting Sam to stay and begin anew with her family – Lila was her granddaughter, and she deserved to be honored for that.
"Maybe, munchkin, maybe," said Sam, thoughtfully. Lila smiled, appeased, and nibbled the cookie that her mother had smuggled onto the plane for her. Would Sam ever be able to tell Jason of her lie?
