Good Morning, Darlings!
All mistakes are on me.
Chapter Forty-One: Edward
December 9, 2022
London, England
"Is that them?" Despite the fact that I know the answer, I glance at the couple Bella is staring at.
I shake my head. "No, their flight only just landed." I remind her. She nods.
"Is that them?"
I ignore her.
She's doing it just to annoy me now, I can tell.
Bella elbows me lightly, and I glance down at her. "Not too late to jump a flight to Spain," she points out.
I shake my head. "Are you thinking about it?" I ask, slightly amused. I'm excited to see my parents, and I think Bella is too, though I know my mom overwhelms Bella pretty quickly.
Bella smirks and reaches up to her stomach. Under her coat is the sweetest bump in the world. I can't leave it alone. Now that I can see our child growing, I'm utterly obsessed.
"Are you kidding?" Bella asks, pulling me out of my thoughts. I look up at her. "Your mom isn't going to let me do jack. It'll be awesome."
I bark out a laugh and roll my eyes. "Like you don't already get me to do all your shit for you," I grunt.
Bella hums. "I like having the full set."
I snort and pull an arm around her shoulders. "You know that means mom won't let you do anything at all, right? You'll be up the wall in an hour."
Bella shrugs.
"We'll see."
I glance down at her, curious. I wonder if this is her way of saying she misses our family.
The last few days have been pretty pleasant. Bella got so much more out of our Friendsgiving than she expected—hell, we all did. It was just what we all needed, and we've been riding the high of it for a while.
I glance down at my wife who is eagerly looking at the arrivals board. Maybe she's still a little high.
It's not that she doesn't love my parents. I think she does, in her own way, but they aren't close and my mom is a lot. Bella gets overwhelmed by them in less than an hour. I wonder if pregnancy brain is making her forget.
"You good?" I ask her. She looks up at me.
"I'm great," she says, flashing me a bright smile. I can't detect any sort of sarcasm but that's usually when she's applying it the most. My eyes squint as I focus on her, trying like hell to read her strange mood.
She turns back to the arrivals board, silent.
Either she's genuinely excited about my parents coming to town, or she has one hell of a prank planned.
Either way, I'm suddenly a little nervous.
