Forgotten Memories

--A poem depicting the hidden pain and love of Madame Giry--

(Usually, I'm not a huge fan of Erik/Mme. Giry romances, but Ifigured I could give it a shot, since I think Mme. Giry is great character to write about and wanted to try something from her third-person POV. So, pleaseleave a review and let me know what you think!)

Memories cloaked by an excellent facade

The hopeless romance still lingering in her eyes

Forced to ignore her endless longings

Towards the man all others on earth despised

Her fantasies forgotten by cruel reality

Realizing her love could never be returned

Her true feelings hidden by her austere appearance, so

No one would know that for his love, she so yearned

Her life, as she knew it, was changed forever

When she saved the poor boy from his hideous fate

The world forgot him, but she never could

Her love, his only light in the dark world of hate

Care and concern for the young boy she attended

Soon blossomed into something strange and new

Two secret friends the world had long forgotten

Both finding the love they sought, so long overdue

In the dark, secret world beneath the Opera

She served the musician with his distorted face

Quickly engulfed in his strange, sweet world

She was lost without a trace

As they grew, and his love faded over time

Her broken heart was clear for anyone to see

Still remaining his connection to the outside world

His broken savior she continued to be

Knowing she meant nothing to him

The eternal pain consumed her day by day

To the outside world, she was only his mysterious messenger

Sent to ensure the infamous Phantom had his way

Continuing to serve him, she delivered his notes

Whilst no one knew of her hidden sadness

Her pain hidden behind stern words and strict expressions

Secretly hoping her longing wouldn't drive her to madness

She watched his love develop for his young Angel of Music

This innocent beauty she had raised as her own

And she could only hope that behind her pained expressions,

Her secret jealousy for the virtuous singer wasn't known

All the world saw her as only the mysterious ballet mistress

Showing no emotion, her feelings and heart only cold

Until privately, she revealed her true feelings

In the long forgotten memories aching to be told

No one ever saw the clear pain she felt

No one knew of the hurt she never let show

No one realized of her love for the Phantom of the Opera

And now, no one but you will ever know...
