The Woman In Me
It was late at night and Elliot Stabler had finally gotten to sleep. Hmmm…sleep. Something that didn't come easy or often for an SVU detective. He had been on medical leave because he didn't pass a psyche exam, so he missed most of the most resent case. But, from what he heard, he was glad he missed it. He did wish he could have been there though, for his partner. She had been pretty shaken by this case and he was afraid it was enough to bring his hard-as-a-rock partner crumbling into little stones.
A knock at the door interrupted his sleep and he groggily looked at his clock. It was flashing big red letters: 2:36. Are you frickin serious? He rolled out of bed and padded to the front door. He looked through the peephole and saw his partner, Olivia Benson. It was her physically, but she didn't look like her normal self. Her hair was a mess, she had no make-up, and her normally chocolate brown eyes were red and puffy and sleepless. So he answered the door.
"Hey, Liv. Is everything okay?"
She drew in a shaky breath. "I wanna say yes. I really do. But this time I can't lie." She looked down at her feet, and blinked. She was fighting to hold back tears, and she was losing. Elliot saw this and immediately wrapped her into a hug. He led them inside and sat down on the couch.
They sat there in silence for what seemed like forever. But it was comfortable silence and neither of them was going to object. Olivia was the first to break the silence.
"Elliot, I just don't know what to do. I can't take it anymore. All the cases. All the victims. I can't do this anymore. I've tried to be strong but I can't anymore. I just can't."
"It's okay Liv, shhh. It's okay. You know you can always come to me. I am always here for you, just like you're always here for me."
I'm not always strong.
And sometimes I'm even wrong.
But I win when I choose.
And I can't stand to lose.
But I can't always be
The rock that you see.
When the nights get too long
And I just can't go on…
"El, it's nice to know that I'm not alone and that I can always turn to someone. I like that feeling. But it would be selfish of me to burden you with all my problems. You have your own problems and I can't expect you to be my knight in shining armor all the time. Than you, Elliot, for everything. But I think I should maybe head home. Sorry to impose like this."
She got up to leave, but Elliot quickly grabbed her hand and pulled her back to him. She looked away from him, avoiding his eyes. But, he made her look at him. "Olivia Marie Benson. Don't you dare think you're imposing. You are my partner and my best friend. You were there for me when Kathy left me. You were there to hold my hand in court when the divorce was finalized. And you are always there for my kids. You are a part of my family and family never turns their back. I love you Olivia Benson. You hear me?" When she nodded her head yes, he planted a small kiss on her lips and it was then that she knew that she was in love with Elliot Stabler.
The woman in me
Needs you to be
The man in my arms
To hold tenderly.
Cause I'm a woman in love.
And it's you I run to.
Yeah the woman in me
Needs the man in you.
When the world wants too much,
And it feels cold and out of touch,
It's a beautiful place
When you kiss my face…
The woman in me
Needs you to be
The man in my arms
To hold tenderly.
Cause I'm a woman in love.
And it's you I run to.
Yeah the woman in me
Needs the man in you.
