. Holiday History
It's something that's easy to forget. Despite how much nicer than, say, everyone, she is, Olette is 'one of the guys'. She'll sigh and lecture you, but in the end you can still copy her homework. And she'll say it's impolite to spy, but she's right there with you when Seifer kicks your ass. At the same time, he never hurts her. She is left out of your stupid rivalry with Seifer, because it's not like it's her fault he's such a jerk. Or that you're a total idiot.
So it's almost Christmas, but it doesn't really show. Sure, there's snow, but you're not really interested in that, because it's perpetually falling and melting in the heat of the sunset. So it's almost Christmas, and Olette has stopped dragging you on shopping trips - in fact, she gets upset if you ask to come with. Because she's Christmas shopping, of course. She tells you the history of the holiday one day - and admits that she's really more into the idea of Winter Solstice than Christmas.
You couldn't care less, really, and tell her as much. That's probably why you don't get your present for another two months or so after Christmas or Winter Solstice or whatever. That doesn't bother you very much, 'cause you can hold out on her present too, okay? So sure, you didn't have a present for her until a day before she gave you your's, but she doesn't need to know that, right?
You get the feeling she knows, but it doesn't matter, because it's almost Valentines day and she's telling you Merry Christmas, and you reply that it's Winter Solstice, because fuck making sense.
She laughs and tells you the history of Valentines Day, but you're really not interested in that at all. You refrain from telling her, and instead ask what kind of chocolates she likes, because, again, fuck making sense, you're going to buy her chocolates on Valentines Day.
