Hearts Desire CH. 3: New Start
Three months had passed since Kagome returned to her time. For some reason, Kagome clung onto the false hope that she was wrong and over-reacting. That he'd follow suit after her either immediately or within a couple of weeks but he never came. During that time, she cried for him, she cursed him, wished she had never met him and realized her body was constantly fighting against her, yearning for his touch. The Higurashi family had been walking on egg shells since she returned home because no one knew when she would lash out or loose it crying. A couple of weeks after she had returned home, she walked into the Kitchen to see her family eating Inuyashas favorite "Ninja" food and lost it. She had absolutely no control, sobbing and yelling at them. Before any of them could speak to calm her down, her light purple aura brightly encased her, making them all freeze and stare in fear.
They weren't scared 'OF' her. They had never really witnessed her abilities or her capabilities. Those of which she never really understood herself. Attending school regularly and focusing on catching up and redoing every test possible, massively raised her grades to near perfect. School seemed like the only thing she could focus on, other than thinking about the past three years. In a couple of months, she'd have her whole life ahead of her. It was no longer time to dwell on the past and what could be.
To help her move on, she bagged up anything that had a memory of the feudal period and anything that reminded her of Inuyasha. Sadly, that included getting rid of all of her school uniforms. All of them were blood stained or torn in various areas from the many fights she had been in hunting for the jewel shards. Even her several pairs of shoes had to go as worn and tore up as they were. Fortunately, being a senior allowed her to pick a different type of uniform so she'd never have to put the old one on again. The new uniform had a red plaid skirt with hints of black and thin lines of white, with a matching tie. Her shirt was a plain white button up. Unfortunately, she believed the Superintendent purposely ordered the skirts to be much smaller than the old ones. If she bent over, her butt popped out. Her white shirt was so thin that if it rained, it'd be translucent and she couldn't even button the top of her shirt all the way, softly exposing her breasts. Purposely, she kept her tie covering the skin of her breasts the best she could. The weather was beginning to get chilly so she opted for her black thigh high sweater boots to try and keep warm in.
To Kagome, this was the closing of one book and the beginning of another. Which meant a fresh start and a new her. She loved the idea of changing her appearance because she'd never have to feel like she was just Kikyos reincarnation again. She added crimson red to her hair from mid length down, giving a black to red ombre effect and curled her hair so it would be thick and wavy. Adding a bit of a neutral brown eye shadow, black winged eyeliner and some clear gloss made her squeal with delight. She looked really good and just felt new even though something just felt like it was missing.
Before she was late for school, she ran down the stairs to meet her friends outside. On the way, she stopped. "Bye Mom! Bye Grandpa! Love you!" She smiled and then darted out the front door. Both Mrs. Higurashi and Mr. Higurashi froze and turned to stare at each other. "Do you think Kagome's okay?" Mrs. Higurashi asked. "I told you to add hot sauce to the chili last night to expel the demon from Kagome. Now it's happy because it finally took her over!" Mr. Higurashi cried dramatically. Mrs. Higurashi raised an eyebrow. "Dad... I told you she was heartbroken over Inuyasha. She still hasn't talked to any of us about it but it seems she's coming to terms with it well but I worry that it's too well."
"Then go catch her! I'll call the school and give them an excuse. I found a new one called Chlamydia!" Mr. Higurashi shouted, walking towards the phone. "Dad! No! Leave her be!" Mrs. Higurashi exclaimed as she jumped to grab the phone from his reach. "Do you even know what Chlamydia is?" She asked. "Well, uh..." Mr. Higurashi lifted his hand to his chin and thought to himself. "It's like the common cold but as bad as the flu." He finally answered, proud with his response. Mrs. Higurashi leant in his ear and whispered, telling him what it was. His eyes grew large and his mouth dropped open. "Oh my... How dare that unfilial child do that! I'm going to punish her like she's never been punished before! What a dishonor to her family!" Mr. Higurashi yelled as he went to scramble out the door. Mrs. Higurashi caught him and stared at him in disbelief. "Dad! You were trying to use that as an excuse to keep Kagome home!" She shouted. "Who? Me? I would never do anything so disgraceful." He muttered as he walked off to tend to his shrine.
Outside, Kagome found her friends and Hojo waiting for her. They all gasped when they saw her. "Oh my god! Kagome! You're gorgeous!" Her friends squealed, running to her, hugging her tightly. She laughed trying to break free. "Guys, come on. We're going to be late." Hojo stood there staring in disbelief. Yuka grinned seeing Hojo's face. "You good Hojo? You look like the cats got your tongue." She laughed out loud, snapping Hojo back to attention. "Ye-...Yes! I-I-I stopped by because my parents wanted to make sure Kagome got these protein shakes to help stay focused and healthy." He began to stutter, flustered that he was caught off guard. The girls laughed and they all began to leave the front of Kagomes House. Out of the corner of her eye, Kagome caught sight of the shrine of the well. Turning her head to look, she stopped as the others walked ahead, just staring. It almost felt like something was trying to pull her back but she couldn't sense anything demonic. "Kagomeeee! You coming?" Ayumi smiled, waving to get her attention. Quickly, Kagome shook her head and snapped out of her daze. She's completely avoided the well this entire time, she decided she'd have to be careful from here on out and avoid it at all costs.
Back in Feudal Japan
For months now, Shippo paced back and forth in front of the well, impatiently. At different times, he just felt defeated and would hit the ground crying for Kagome when he thought no one was around. She had been like a mother to him, always putting him first or jumping to defend him. He never imagined what life would be like without her because he always felt like she'd always be there. He absolutely refused to leave Kaede's village because he wanted to be there when she returned, especially since Inuyasha had left again. Someone had to be there to protect her and he was going to do it.
The day she left, he watched as it seemed like Inuyasha and Kagome had another fight as usual but this time it was different. When Kagome screamed, her face was full of fear. She seemed like she was literally scared of Inuyasha but usually, she just told him to sit when he bothered her. Her face was covered in tears and she had quickly scooted against the wall of the well as if she was trying to stay at a distance from him. Shippo had been in such shock hearing the blood curdling scream come from her that he couldn't pull together to ask Inuyasha what had even happened.
Inuyasha had just froze with his mouth open as if he didn't even know what was going on. After Kagome faded from the well, Inuyasha stepped off the edge of the well and kept his head down. Shippo didn't think Inuyasha even realized the looks Miroku and Sango shot at him, accusing. Later that same night, the three of them, Including Kaede, heard a loud clash from Kaede's hut and ran into the forest only to find Inuyasha. He stood there, head down with his demon features coming out even though Tessaiga was still on his side. Probably the only reason he was still coherent. His face shined with the moon light reflecting off of his tears. He crammed the well with as many trees he could fit but that wasn't good enough. Even with them standing there, Inuyasha had withdrawn his Tessaiga, getting ready to completely destroy the well. "Inuyasha! NO! Stop!" They all yelled, running in front of him to guard the well.
"She made her choice. I left her by herself and she decided without me!" He yelled, baring his teeth. "Inuyasha, you have to stop. You know yourself she ALWAYS comes back. No matter how mad she's been at you, she has always come back for you! She loves you and you're an idiot if you STILL can't see it!" Miroku yelled out, trying to talk sense into him. The corner of Inuyashas mouth peaked up into a grin. "You're such a bastard. You saw how she looked at me. She was scared. I could hear her heart pounding in her chest and I could smell it. I am nothing but a no-good dirty half demon anyways." Inuyasha chuckled. "Inuyasha, if you want to destroy the well, you have to kill us first. You may have given up on her but we haven't and we never will. I don't care if it's 50 years for now. I am warning you; we will fight." Sango said, tightly holding onto her hiraikotsu. "Sango, I was trying to calm him down and avoid a fight. Now you're encouraging a heart broken demon raging Inuyasha to kill us, you're really not helping the situation." Miroku sharply grumbled under his breath. Inuyasha could hear everything. "Oh, I'm going to destroy the well and you'll be doing me a favor putting me out of my misery!" Inuyasha yelled, raising his sword.
"FOX FIRE!" Shippos voice echoed, running and jumping in front of Inuyasha, sending blue flames hurdling him. Instinctively, Inuyasha raised his hand and swiped at Shippo, sending him flying into a tree. "NO! SHIPPO!" Sango and Miroku yelled in panic. "Stay here! I'll get Shippo!" Miroku yelled, darting over to shippo, only feet away from Inuyasha. Miroku grabbed up Shippo, cradling the hurt little fox demon and had no time to move out of the way when Inuyashas claws came down.
The smell of blood permeated the air. "Hiraikotsu!" Sango screamed, throwing her weapon as hard as she could at Inuyasha. She ran as fast as she could to the other two while Inuyashas attention had been on her weapon. Easily, he knocked it out of the air and went in for a third strike with his claws extended but locked eyes with Shippo, causing him to freeze. "No Inuyasha, please stop! I want Kagome to come back, I want everything like it was before!" Shippo cried, weakly. Inuyashas demonic features began to quickly fade, bringing him back to his senses. He hurt Shippo.. Little Shippo. But the blood in the air wasn't shippos. Inuyashas gaze dropped to Miroku. Miroku was holding his shoulder. His claws slashed Miroku's shoulder blade, saving Shippo. The next thing they knew, Inuyasha had disappeared.
After staying silent the whole time, watching everything unfold, Kaede Walked up to the three of them. "Today, ye have witnessed history repeat itself as it happened with Kikyo over 50 years ago. It twas not greed that had driven Inuyasha to steal the jewel. It twas a broken heart and feelings of betrayal and he just realized what happened himself."
Since that night, Inuyasha had been nowhere to be found. Sango and Miroku had looked everywhere for him but he never wanted to be found and Sesshomaru had gotten offended when they asked him to help track him. Shippo did manage to clean out the well with the help of the forest guardian Royakan. The only thing he could do was wait.
Back in the Modern Era
Kagome made it home only to find the house empty. Her mother left a note saying her and grandpa had to went on a trip out of town and wouldn't make it back until later in the evening. Sota left a note saying he was spending the weekend at his friend's house. Her friends were all busy so it just left her home alone. Something she didn't want because she knew exactly where her mind would wonder. Although, now that she had the house to herself, she had all access to the liquor cabinet.
Running upstairs to her room, she slammed the door shut and turned her radio on. Finally, having the freedom to explore what was going on with her body, she tossed her head back and took a few big gulps of her grandfather's sake. She started feeling the effects of the alcohol, making her feel warm and fuzzy. Standing up, she pulled her panties off from under her skirt and kicked them across the room. Going in for another chug from the bottle, she danced around the room. Jumping backwards, she plopped on her bed, landing on her back only slightly spilling the sweet liquid from the bottle.
Anytime she thought about Inuyasha, there was this warm sensation down between her legs. It didn't matter how much she disliked him. It felt good but like it was wanting something. She set her feet flat on her mattress, her knees bent upwards. Taking another good swig for courage, she slid her free hand down to her vagina. It was warm and tacky feeling. Losing train of thought, she always thought Inuyasha would end up being the one exploring down there, not her. Then she froze. In her head, she pictured Inuyasha shirtless, grinning like a Cheshire cat, moving his face between her legs. Kagome lost her breath for a moment as a wave of pleasure radiated between her legs. She followed it with her hand, noticing it got very wet compared to moments ago. Sliding her fingers between her folds, she found the top of her bud. A slight touch sent a shiver down her spine. Slowly, she rubbed herself back and forth, sharply inhaling every time her hand touched that sensitive area.
She couldn't tell if the alcohol was making her feel hot or if touching herself was. She was so zoned out, she didn't hear her bedroom door open.
