After dropping the "supplies" (which happened to be some machine guns) off to the receiver (who happened to be another pirate), the crew received enough credits to keep them set for a while. Though none of the rebels felt great about setting pirates up with guns, they consoled themselves with the fact that they didn't know all the details of the mission beforehand and they were still stealing from the empire, so they were hindering the bigger threat.

After going to the nearest planet to pick up some items and fuel, the crew heard from Fulcrum about stealing some information from an Empire base on Lothal.

"Well, Ezra, it looks like we're going back to your planet again," Kanan said, sitting next to Ezra at the table. Ezra was using some of Sabine's colored pencils to draw on a spare sheet of paper.

"Why?"

"Well, the Empire has some battle plans that we need to steal."

"Okay." Kanan laughed at how easily Ezra acknowledged the rebel's dangerous work. But it wasn't surprising since his parents did the same types of things. "Kanan, can we...um... medate again?" Ezra asked.

"You mean meditate?"

"Ya. After we meditated" Ezra said the word slowly, making sure to pronounce it right, "my head felt better."

"That's great! I'd love to meditate some more." At that moment, there was a roar from the hallway and Chopper came whirring into the common room. Kanan could tell that the droid set Ezra's nerves on edge. Zeb came running after the droid, angry that he was woken up.

"That droid won't give me a break." Zeb went over and kicked Chopper over so he couldn't get back up. Chopper spouted out some foul language and threats at Zeb. Ezra gripped onto Kanan's arm, confusing Kanan. Ezra couldn't possibly know what Chopper was saying. He was probably just rattled by all the noise and violence.

"Stop it, you two. Zeb, go back to bed. Chopper, leave him alone." Chopper grumbled that he didn't take orders from Kanan.

"Fine, then I'll go get Hera." Since the pilot was plotting out a course and needed some time to focus, the whole crew knew to give her some space.

Chopper grumbled that he would let Zeb sleep, but he made it clear that Kanan had nothing to do with his decision.

"Come on, Ezra, let's go to my room. It's quieter there." The two meditated for about two hours and before they knew it, they were interrupted by Hera calling them to dinner.

"What were you doing with Kanan, Ezra?" Hera asked, interested what kind of Jedi training they were doing.

"We meditated and now my head feels better. And I am more connected with the force," Ezra said, repeating what Kanan had told him.

"That's right. And we can continue to meditate and grow your Jedi force signature," Kanan added.

"What does that mean?" Sabine asked.

"Well, Ezra's been influenced by the … let's call it the 'bad' side of the force. When we meditate, I connect him with the good side of the force so that the bad training gets out of his head. After it's gone, we can start some Jedi training. But for now, through meditation, I'm connecting him to the good side of the force, and he's growing in his abilities to focus and feel the force around him at the same time."

"Am I the only one who's more confused now?" Zeb asked. The crew shook their heads, besides Kanan and Ezra.

"Hey, Ezra. The crew and I have been thinking things over and we want you to move into a real room. Zeb has a bunk bed in his room, so we think you two can share a room. How does that sound?" Hera asked.

"Just a warning, I snore," Zeb said.

Ezra thought this over. The past few nights, without the crew knowing, Ezra had woken up scared that he was back with the imperials. He would wake up and look around and after a while he would calm down. But the silence still reminded him of being alone in his cell for hours. Even when he convinced himself he was with Kanan, Hera, Sabine, and Zeb, Ezra still worried the droid or something else would come and get him. Even though Zeb was still a little scary, Ezra wanted to bunk with him. Zeb could protect him, he snored so the room wouldn't be silent, and he would now have a room, meaning that the crew wanted him to stay longer.

"Yes, I want to!" Ezra said, excited. Hera was glad that Ezra was so enthusiastic about it.

"Okay, we can move all your things in there after dinner."

Once it was Ezra's bed time, Hera and Kanan helped him get comfortable on the top bunk. They hugged him good night, then tucked him in. Hera even read him a story from a datapad. After they left him to go to sleep, they met with Sabine and Zeb in the common room.

The two stopped talking when Hera and Kanan entered.

"I think we need to talk about Ezra," Zeb said when the pair sat down.

Hera sighed. "I know it will be weird to have him sleeping in your room, and I'm sorry about this, but there really is no other option."

"No, Hera, not about that. It's about Ezra staying here. I know ya contacted Fulcrum about 'im finding a safe place to stay, but I feel like Ezra's already a part of this crew. Kanan's taken him as his apprentice,"

"Padawan," Kanan interrupted.

"Fine. As his Padawan. Hera's you've been teachin' him ta fly. And Sabine said she likes 'im, too. I just think that we need ta discuss how this is gonna work long term," Zeb finished.

"What do you mean?" Hera asked.

"Well, at some point, we're going to have to teach Ezra how to read and write. Do we know how to do that?" Sabine asked. Hera and Kanan were shocked that they hadn't thought of that.

"Well, the Jedi taught me, I don't remember how they did it," Kanan said.

"My mother taught me when I was young," Hera said.

"I went to a school," Zeb said.

"Actually, I might know how to teach him…" Sabine said, shyly answering her own question. "At the...imperial academy, I um...taught some very young recruits how to read. That was one of the only duties that I slightly enjoyed," Sabine said, her voice full of regret.

"Hey, none of us blame you for your past," Kanan said.

"Ya. What does it matter that there are a few more illiterate imperials out there," Zeb said.

"Hey, I was successful in teaching them!" Sabine said, laughing.

"Well, then you can help teach Ezra when it's time. That would be great. Along with Jedi training and pilot lessons, Ezra will have lots to do every day," Hera said.

"Well, if you all get to teach 'im things, can I teach 'im how to shoot?" Zeb asked.

"He's too young for that!" Hera said and Kanan nodded in agreeance.

"What? He's too young for shooting lessons but not for flying a ship? He's a baby rebel! His father got him an energy sling shot when he was three! He needs ta learn how ta get a decent shot," Zeb said.

"I don't want him shooting anything!" Kanan said.

"I don't want him to become aggressive and violent from learning how to shoot at such a young age!" Hera added.

"How about teaching him self-defence," Sabine suggested. "That way he's learning how to fight and protect himself at the same time."

Hera and Kanan considered this. With a shared look, they nodded.

"You can teach him some self-defence," Hera said.

Suddenly there was a thump from Zeb's bedroom. The crew looked at one another and then ran to the now shared room.

Ezra was on the floor, dazed from his fall off the top bunk and still half asleep. Hera ran over to him and picked him up.

"What happened, hon?"

"Um...I fell," Ezra said, tears starting to form in his eyes. Hera rubbed his back to calm him down. Luckily, Ezra had landed with his arms protecting his head, so he didn't get a bump, but Ezra was afraid to go on the top bunk again.

Zeb walked up to the boy, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Um, you can take the bottom bunk it ya want. I'll make sure the top bunk behaves and doesn' fling me off, too." Ezra smiled, got up from Hera's lap, and gripped Zeb around the legs in a hug.

"Thanks, Zeb."

"No problem, kid."
