A/N: Hello again! First of all, thank you to those of you who favorited, followed, and commented on this story!

In answer to a few of the questions I've gotten, I want to clarify that Ezra is 4 and Sabine is 13 in this story. I know that in the real show, Ezra is only a few years younger than Sabine, but I wanted to write Ezra younger in this story. I am also going along with the show's Kanan/Hera relationship, but Sabine and Ezra are siblings in this story, so there will be no Ezrabine (only lots of sibling fluff!).

Lastly, I wanted to thank you all for reading! Enjoy!

Hera successfully kept Ezra busy the rest of the day. She taught him a bit more about how to fly a ship and then Sabine watched him for a little while Hera talked to Fulcrum.

At dinner, Hera made sure Ezra was sitting and eating with Sabine and Zeb at the table before going to get Kanan.

"Kanan, come eat dinner with us," Hera said, after knocking and letting herself in. Kanan sat on the floor, meditating. He felt Hera's presence and came out of his stupor.

"Is Ezra there?"

"He is, but I think he'll be okay with you coming in, just...leave your lightsaber here." Kanan put down his two halves of lightsaber and followed Hera toward the common area.

"Hey, I was thinking about talking to Ezra about lightsabers and explaining to him about the old jedi. Do you think that's a good idea?"

"Well, let's see how Ezra reacts to you first, but I think that would help him calm down a bit. He's bound to see you use the thing again, he has to understand that you aren't gonna hurt him."

"Has Tseebo sent you the videos of Ezra's past, yet?"

"No, but does that really surprise you? We should probably contact him again soon so we can get those," Hera said.

The door to the common room opened and Kanan cautiously walked in after Hera. Ezra was so focused on his food that he didn't notice Kanan at first. Kanan got some food for himself before sitting down across from Ezra.

Ezra looked up into the eyes of his master. Kanan saw fear in the child's eyes, but Ezra didn't attempt to run away. That was a good sign. Kanan tried to connect with Ezra through the force, slowly nudging Ezra's mind, like he did in meditation.

Ezra felt Kanan's force, but it wasn't scary like he expected it to be. Kanan's force sent a calmness over him and he relaxed into the familiar feeling.

Hera, seeing Ezra's relaxed state, started up a conversation. It didn't take long before Sabine and Zeb were arguing over something or other. For some reason, this playful banter was calming to Ezra, and he leaned into Hera's side.

"Someone's tired, huh?"

"No. I wanna watch holovids with S'Bine before I havta go to bed."

"You can, but you need to put on your pajamas and brush your teeth first." Hera was preparing for Ezra to fall asleep during the movie like he usually did.

"And, Ezra. I want to talk with you before you go to bed," Kanan said. Ezra looked at him with fear in his eyes. This was not a good sign. The last time Ezra was alone in a room with someone with a lightsaber, he had been yelled at, beat, and cut. Ezra shrank lower in his seat, hoping Kanan didn't expect him to talk with him alone.

"I know that I scared you earlier, and I'm very sorry about that. Will you talk with me?"

Ezra gripped onto Hera. The thought of being alone with Kanan when he could still hurt him didn't sound like a good idea to Ezra.

"How about if Hera stays? You can at least trust Hera." Kanan hated the thought that Ezra didn't trust him, but he would try his best to fix this. Hera settled in, putting an arm around Ezra.

"I'll stay here with you two, how does that sound?"

Ezra nodded, shyly. Hera gave Sabine and Zeb a look and they left without complaint. Chopper whired after them, threatening Kanan that he better not scare Ezra again.

"First of all, I want to tell you that I would never hurt you, Ezra. I know it might take a little while for you to understand that because of your past experiences, but I would do anything to protect you. My jedi weapon might look like those bad guys's weapons, but a lightsaber can be used for good or bad. Jedi use the weapon to help people and Sith, or bad guys, use it to harm people. The bad guys usually have red lightsabers and the good guys usually have blue or green lightsabers. There used to be many more Jedi, but now we are almost extinct. That's a lesson for another day. Right now, I just wanted you to understand that the lightsaber is not a bad thing when it is used by the right people. It can help protect people. But if it scares you, I'll try to be careful not to use it around you."

Kanan looked at Ezra for understanding.

"You won't hurt me with it?"

"Of course not. Only bad people do that. Do you think I'm a bad person?"

"No."

"I promise I will never hurt you or anyone on this crew. With or without my lightsaber."

"Um…"

"What is it?"

"Do I get a liesaber? I'm a Jedi!"

"Well, usually we don't give younglings weapons like that, but I can look into getting you a training saber. Younglings at the temple trained with lightsabers that can't hurt people. When I was young, I started on a practice lightsaber."

"But I wan a real one, like you. Then I can protect myself."

"And when you're old enough, you can get one. Anyway, you have all of us to protect you. Hera, Me, Sabine, Zeb, even Chopper would protect you if we need to. Does all of this make sense?"

"Ya," Ezra said, not leaning on Hera anymore, but coming up to hug Kanan. Kanan smiled.

"Okay, ready to get your PJ's on?"

"Ya! S'Bine said that she wants to watch a show that has Jawas in it. What's a Jawa?"

"Well, I guess you're just gonna have to wait and see!" Kanan said, leading Ezra toward his room. Hera smiled after them.
