Ezra loved his new padawan braid and after learning more about it from Kanan, he wore it with pride. Sabine was finally out of her room and interacting with people. The next few days had been quiet, other than one small mission where the crew took supplies from a rebel hideout and brought it to a poor city in Lothal.

The next day, Sabine was drawing in the common room with Ezra. Every so often, Ezra would grumble and push his hair back.

"What's wrong, Ez?"

"My hair keeps itching me." Sabine wasn't surprised. His hair was almost to his shoulder.

"Well, do you want a haircut?"

"Um...yeah. But don't cut my braid."

"I won't. Let me go get my scissors and brushes." Sabine jumped up to get them. Hera came into the room, looking at the drawings on the table.

"Hey, Ezra, did you make a drawing?"

"Yes. It's us. There's you and me and Kanan and Bine and Zeb and Chopper."

"Wow, nice work. Is that a lightsaber in Kanan's hand?"

"Yes, but Bine doesn't have blue pencils, so I didn't color it because it can't be red." Ezra shivered and then looked down, embarrassed.

"Hey, it's okay to be afraid of things, as long as you don't let the fear consume you."

"What are you afraid of?"

"I'm afraid of the crew getting hurt or sick. On that note, do you remember ever going to the doctor with your parents to get vaccinations?"

"Um...I don't know." Hera knew Ezra probably wouldn't know. If his parents took him to the doctor, Ezra would have been too young to remember.

"Okay, that's fine. So, what are you doing now?"

"Bine's giving me a haircut." Sabine walked back into the common room, carrying scissors, spray, and combs.

"Make sure you clean up when you're done."

"Okay, Hera."

Hera left to go to the cockpit and Sabine sat down and started to comb Ezra's hair.

"How short do you want it?"

"Um...I don't know."

"How about by your chin?"

"Okay."

"Okay, hold still."

Ezra sat as still as any four year old could and something came to his mind.

"What is vaccination?" Ezra asked. Sabine was confused at the question, but she answered anyway.

"It's medicine from the doctor that they put into your body to help prevent diseases."

"How does it get in your body?"

Sabine shivered before answering.

"They use a needle for the injection."

Ezra could hear something in her voice that he had heard in his own many times.

"Are you scared of needles?"

"Why would you say that?"

"Because you talk about them like I talk about red lightsabers." Just the thought made Ezra shiver.

"Well, I am a little scared of them."

"It's okay to be afraid of things as long as you don't let the fear consume you."

"Did Kanan tell you that?" Sabine smiled, knowing that Ezra didn't come up with that sentiment alone.

"No. Mama said so."

"Well, she's right." Sabine made one more snip. "Okay, all done. Why don't you go look in the mirror in the refresher?"

Ezra ran off. Sabine got a broom and started to sweep the hair into a dustpan.

"Thank you, Bine. It's not itchy anymore!" Ezra said, but he paused to scratch his arm. "But now my shirt is itchy."

"That's the old hair that I cut off. Why don't we give you a bath."

"Okay! Can my braid go into the bath?"

"Yes, I made it waterproof. Who knows when the crew might accidentally go swimming."

"I can't swim." Sabine put that into the corner of her mind, making sure to remember that fact and share it with the crew later. It could be really important if they ever went to a water-filled planet.

Hera called for a meeting in the common room the next day.

"Alright, everyone. The mission two days ago was a success. We don't have any missions lined up for a little while. I thought it would be a good time to get vaccinations done. I have work to do on the engine, so Chopper and I are going to stay here."

Sabine shifted uncomfortably in her seat. Sabine usually wasn't afraid of anything. She was tough and didn't let people push her around. But even the thought of needles set her on edge.

"I'll...stay behind and help you Hera," Sabine said.

"Sabine, you're getting vaccinations, too. I know you haven't gotten them in over a year, so you need to get the ones you missed." Sabine's heart sank.

At Sabine's panicked look, Hera's voice softened.

"You'll be fine. This doctor is very reliable, according to Fulcrum."

"But I don't need vaccinations," Sabine said.

"Sabine, these vaccinations will help you. If you get sick, you'll be out of commission for weeks. We don't want that to happen to you." Kanan tried to persuade Sabine, unsure why she was being so hesitant.

Sabine sighed, knowing she was outnumbered and would not get out of this.

"Zeb, you can go with them or stay here, either way. Chopper could use some help with running diagnostics."

Chopper buzzed, contradicting Hera.

Zeb glanced at Sabine, worried.

"I'll go. Definitely don't want to spend the day with that rustbucket."

"Okay, you better get going. The appointment is in half an hour."

When Kanan and Zeb had the speeders ready, Sabine tried to convince herself to stay calm. She'd been in situations a lot worse than this one and she had been fine. Sabine couldn't understand why this one thing made her feel sick and jittery.

"Come on, Sabine," Zeb said from the speeder. Kanan sat on the other, adjusting Ezra in front of him so that the boy could ride safely and comfortably.

Zeb could tell that Sabine was on edge, but he didn't know why. Maybe she was afraid of doctors. But the thought of Sabine being afraid of anything made Zeb doubt his idea.

When Kanan left the cargo bay on the speeder, Zeb hesitated a moment.

"Sabine, are ya okay? You seem on edge."

"I'm all good," Sabine said, though her voice was strained.

"Ya sure?"

"Yes." At Sabine's exasperated tone, Zeb started up the speeder and followed Kanan out.

When the crew got to the office, Kanan went to the front desk to sign Sabine and Ezra in while the other three found seats in the waiting room.

They watched the doctors bustling around and the patients they were sitting with. Sabine picked up a magazine to look at while they waited. Really, she just wanted to distract herself from thinking about needles. She kept telling herself that it was okay and that the vaccinations would only take a few minutes, but when she was called to go into the exam room, she panicked.

"Sabine, that's you," Kanan said. "Do you want me or Zeb to go with you?"

"Um…" Sabine didn't think she could do this alone, but in her moment of panic, she remembered to stay strong. "I'm fine." She made her way into the exam room.

Ezra thought about what Sabine had said about vaccinations.

"Do you like needles?" Ezra asked Zeb while they waited. Kanan sat next to them, watching the people around them with a watchful eye, not listening to their conversation. Hera had warned them that weapons were not allowed at the doctor's office and they had left their weapons with the speeders, but this set Kanan on edge.

"Not really, but they're not too scary."

"They are for 'Bine."

"What?"

"'Bine doesn't like needles. She said so when she gave me a haircut."

Hearing this, Zeb understood what was going on with Sabine.

"Kanan, Sabine's afraid of needles." Kanan glanced up, startled out of his thoughts. Zeb knew that he and Kanan were thinking the same thing. Sabine left alone with something she sees as dangerous was not a good sign.

"I'll go find her. Maybe I can talk her down," Kanan said, but at that moment, Ezra's name was called. Some of Sabine's nervousness seemed to have seeped into Ezra because he looked at Kanan with fear in his eyes.

"You take Ezra, I'll find Sabine." Zeb went over toward the exam rooms. A doctor stepped into his path.

"Who are you with? Do you have an appointment? You'll have to wait your turn."

"No, my friend is in there getting vaccinations and I want to make sure she's alright."

"Our doctors are very well trained, your friend will be fine. We don't allow non-family members into the exam rooms with the patients."

"I'm as good as family to her."

"Sir," But the doctor didn't have time to finish before they heard a thud from the nearest exam room. The doctor ran over to the door and pulled it open. Inside, Sabine was standing, panic still in her face. She had the nurse who was administering the vaccinations pinned to the wall. The nurse looked more panicked than Sabine.

The doctor ran over to the pair and started to tug on Sabine's arms, urging her to let go of the nurse.

"Young lady, you must let this nurse go! I will call for security!"

Zeb stepped into the room.

"If you do that, I will have no choice but to get involved," Zeb growled, warning the doctor.

"This is your friend? How are you possibly from the same family? You look nothing alike." This was definitely the wrong thing to say.

Zeb grabbed the doctor and pinned him against the wall next to the nurse.

"Family is not who you're directly related to. Family is who you choose to be related to."

"What is going on here?" A new voice broke through the room. Kanan stepped into the room, holding Ezra, who had two band-aids on each arm and was liking a lollipop.

"Sir, these two are threatening us. Get help immediately." It took Kanan a few seconds to even process what had happened.

"Zeb, Sabine, what are you two doing?"

"This doctor threatened Sabine," Zeb explained.

"She has needles…" Sabine said.

"Let them go. Now." Kanan demanded.

Zeb and Sabine obliged, although they were angry about it.

"Apologize, now."

"Sorry,"Zeb grumbled.

"I apologize," Sabine said, glaring at the nurse.

"Now sit down and get your vaccinations."

"There is no way that we are helping your family any longer. This office does not allow threats to our employees." The doctor said, rubbing his shoulders where Zeb had held him.

"I think we should just leave, Kanan," Sabine said.

"No, you are getting these vaccinations. Hera would kill me if you came back without them." Kanan handed Ezra to Zeb and beckoned the doctor out of the room. The nurse quickly followed.

After negotiating for a little while, the doctor agreed to give Sabine vaccinations as long as the crew never came back to this office.

Afterwards, the crew left, Zeb's hand aching from allowing Sabine to hold it during her shots. Sabine was pretty shaken up. Although she got the shots, she still hated needles and just the thought of them made her want to faint.

"Sabine, if you were afraid of needles then you should have told us. We would have gone with you. It would have saved us from being banned from that office," Kanan said.

"I'm sorry."

"I know. But Hera won't like this."

"What? You cannot tell Hera. She'll punish us both," Zeb said.

Kanan rolled his eyes. When they got back, Hera asked how it was. Sabine and Zeb's eyes widened.

"It was fine. They both did well, although Sabine got a bit jittery from the needles."

"Was it fine? I wouldn't qualify Zeb and Sabine attacking doctors as fine," Hera said. The crew's eyes widened and Zeb let out a groan. "I know what happened. The doctor contacted me and said that you were banned from ever going back. Zeb and Sabine, I want the Ghost gleaming before we leave the planet."
