Bit leads the liger onto the battlefield, a ravine, with his head held high and his heart filled with hope. The liger roared with its slightly metallic voice; seemingly challenging the night air into battle. Birds scurried and small mammals ran to escape the giant golden paws as it started to walk purposely forward. Bit squeezed the liger's controls tighter as the screen flashed its proximity alert. "Buddy," Bit said quietly "We're coming up to the contact zone now." The liger growled in agreement, its orange armour glinting in the filtered moonlight. It continued to walk forwards, each step seemed laboured to try and stop the noise that was inevitable. Then it happened.
Alarms sounded outside the cockpit. Lights flashed on. Loudspeakers, once silent, spewed forth instructions to sleepy pilots. Weaponry such as anti-zoid cannons and air-to-ground missile silos mounted on the hills rose out of their bunkered positions and waited to get accurate targets. The comms crackled as Jamie yelled "Bit! Your tripped the Fibre on the base camp! They're alerted!"
"No Jamie, that's not possible" Bit retorted
"Deal with it Bit. We need to dispatch of this quickly if we are to succeed in this mission" Brad butted in as the comm. screen slipped into a trio.
"Do you want covering fire?" Leena almost seemed itching to cause mayhem.
"No" Bit said, "We need to get closer or there's no hope of finding anything. It'll be like a needle in a proverbial haystack"
"Then I'll just have to get closer," Jamie said as he brought the Raynos further down towards the treetops. A small dish extruded from the underside of the zoid as it started its set pattern. Small ionic disturbance cannons rose from the ground, firing a volley of shots at the speeding zoid. Jamie grunted and passed out as the zoid passed the speed of sound. It juddered as the control surfaces pointed upwards, pushing the zoid into a deep roll.
Hellcats and several Di-bison emerged from the hangers, their computers slowly booting into combat modes. Leena seemed anxious almost as the cannons slowly rose. She bit her lip as the first barrage of shots was fired. If only Bit let her fireā¦
Bit almost grinned sadistically as the liger once again roared a challenge to the zoids.
