Sam's Ode to Love and War

We fired our shots, one after another!

The enemy was relentless.

Hundreds, thousands of them, like pawns they were!

Eager to reach us, they were shot down

And new pawns took their places

All dying to capture the infamous SG-1

For their "God".

Suddenly, my CO stiffened

And stalked off silently,

His form crouched behind our makeshift wall.

I followed, still firing at the Jaffa, trying to contemplate

Why the Colonel ceased his fire.

Then as he moved out from the protection

Of our feeble wall,

A ball of fire hit his chest

And our leader was thrown off his feet.

He lay there, motionless, and

My heart cried out as a demon clutched it,

Laughing at my total terror.

"COLONEL!" I shouted.

As I was finally able

To shoot my way to his side,

The demon's grasp vanished with a squeal

For the Colonel slapped his hand to his head,

Spurting out curses that even I

Had not heard.

And he grinned at me toothily and said

"These new vest plates work swell, huh Carter?"

And I was brutally torn between

Killing him torturously

And kissing him crazily.

And neither one fitted into standard military protocol.

Damn.
