Chance Chapter Three

A green jeep pulled to a stop outside of the Duke Farm.

Inside the jeep was Mandie Maxell and Russel Duke, who had come to take their son Bo back to Flordia with them.

Luke, who had heard the jeep pull to a stop, got up and went over to the window overlooking the whole yard.

"Bo, I think they're here." Luke said as he gazed at the couple outside.

Bo rose up from his seat and joined Luke at the window.

Bo didn't say anything, he just stared at the people as they got into a conversation with Uncle Jesse, who had come outside to 'welcome' them to the farm.

"Uncle Jesse's sure given em' what fer'." Bo said to Luke as he watched Jesse getting mad and gesturing at everything as he yelled at the couple.

"Yeah, he's sure steamin' like a hot hamburger." Luke replied as they heard Jesse roar, "LEAVE TH' BOY OUT'A THIS!"

Bo and Luke exchanged glances before they turned and headed out the door.

--------------------------------------------------------------

The front door burst open and Bo and Luke walked out and stood beside their uncle.

Mandie and Russel looked at the newcomers and quickly guessed which one was Bo.

"Hello, son. It's great to finally see you, honey." Mandie said.

"Not ta seem rude or nothin' but, what in the blue blazes are ya doin' here?" Bo asked.

"Bo Duke! That is no way ta talk to yer mother!" Russel yelled.

"Excuse me if I don't believe she's ma mother, mister!" Bo replied angerily.

"Son, I don't rightly care what you believe, but th' truth is I am yer mother, and you will obey me!" Mandie said.

"Over ma dead body!" Bo replied as he turned and trotted off to the General Lee, with Luke hot on his heels.

"Bo, where ya goin'?" Luke asked.

"I don't know. Somewhere that's not here!" Bo replied as he prepared to slide into the driver's seat.

"Well, least let me drive, cuz. You're in no mood ta be tearin around on them back roads." Luke said.

Bo knew that Luke was telling the truth, so he slid over to the passanger seat and waited as Luke slid into the driver's seat and started the car.

"BO DUKE, DON'T YOU DARE!" Russel roared at them just as Luke smashed the pedal to the floor and roared off in the General.

"Honey, do something!" Mandie said worriedly as she clutched at Russel's arm.

"We'll catch em'." Russel assured her.

Jesse, however was wearing a smug grin on his face.

"Sure ya will. Ain't nobody can catch them boy's when they're in the General Lee!"

"Is that so brother? Well I guess 'nobody' had this with em'." Russel said as he withdrew a gun that was fully loaded.

Jesse's face paled as the gun gleamed in the sunlight.

With a smile on his face, Russel turned and headed towards the jeep.

"Much abliged, Jesse." He said as he hopped in, started the engine and roared off, in hot pursuit of Bo and Luke.
