Chapter Five

Bo and Luke cheered when they saw the two cars collide.

"That was so sweet." Bo chuckled as he faced front.

Luke smiled at his cousin's happiness as he continued to drive down the road.

Luke, for one, didn't want to see his cousin unhappy, and if making sure Russel and Mandie Duke had a bad day, then Luke would help his cousin wreck his 'parent's' day in any way shape or form.

"So, ya don't remember em'?" Luke asked after a moment of silence.

Bo looked at his cousin, debating on whether to tell him anything or not, but desided on speaking to Luke, since Luke also shared his deepest feelings with Bo.

"No. All I got was this picture from Uncle Jesse." Bo said, reaching into his pocket for the picture he always carried with him.

The picture was one of Mandie, his mother, holding him in a hospital bed, before she turned him over to Jesse.

"So, what're ya gonna do?" Luke asked.

"Don't know. But I know fer sure that I ain't gonna go with them!" Bo replied.

Luke smiled as he turned the General onto a dirt road and headed towards town.

-----------------------

Mandie and Russel were sitting on a bench in the park, waiting for Cooter Davenport to repair their jeep.

After Rosco had contacted the mechanic to come tow them to his shop, Cooter had looked over the damage, and gave them an estimate on how much it was going to cost and how long it was going to take to repair.

Now, the two Duke's were sitting on the bench, waiting for the word to come get their jeep, all the while, they were planning on what to do to get Bo out of the Duke farm.

"Now hon' remind me again why we want Bo." Mandie said to her husband as she watched all the people walking by.

"Honey, remember the local gossip? Bo Duke is the hottest car driver in Hazzard. We're going to need him to race in two months at the NASCAR race in Atlanta. He's almost for sure to win!" Russel said.

"Well, if you would have told him that from the start, he might not'a gotten so angry with ya." Mandie said.

"What? An' him thinkin' that he's actually gonna get a career in the NASCAR circuit? I don't think so. This is a one time thing." Russel replied.

"Well, what are ya plannin' on doing to get Bo ta leave with us?" Mandie asked.

"If young Bo don't wanna do things the easy way, we'll make it hard. We're gonna give em' a choice. Leave with us, or we kill Jesse." Russel said.

"Isn't that a little overkill for a race?" Mandie asked.

"No, because I want that prize money so bad it's eatin' away at my heart." Russel said.

While they were talking an orange stock car raced along the streets and went whizzing by them.

"Isn't that the General?" Mandie asked.

"It sure is." Russel said as he followed the Duke's pride and joy with his eyes.

"If Bo don't wanna leave, we'll make his life an absolute hell." Russel said.

"How?" Mandie asked as she stood up.

"We'll attack those he's closest to." Russel said,as if that was the obvious answer.

"That would be Luke, Jesse and Daisy." Mandie said as she looked at her husband.

Russel smiled at her and said, "Exactly. Bo don't come with us, then they die."

"It's the perfect plan." Mandie said as she hugged him.
