Chapter Six

Bo and Luke arrived back at the ranch to see Jesse pacing the yard worriedly.

"Uncle Jesse!" Bo called out once Luke had brought the General to a halt.

"There ya are, Bo!" Jesse said as he walked over to them.

Bo looked at Uncle Jesse slightly confused until Uncle Jesse explained, "When you and Luke tore out'a here, and Russel went after ya..."

"It's alright Uncle Jesse. Luke ditched em' awhile back." Bo said as he placed a hand on his uncle's shoulder.

"Do ya have any idea why they want me ta go with em'?" Bo asked.

"No, but bein' Russel' it could be anything!" Jesse said as he ushered the boy's inside the house.

Once inside the house, both boy's took a seat at the table.

"What're we gonna do Uncle Jesse? I don't wanna go with em', but I also don't wanna see you, Luke or Daisy get hurt." Bo said.

"I appreciate that son, but we Duke's stick together, and when one of em's in trouble, we help him out, no matter what. If you wanna stay here, then you can stay here, and no amount of threatin' can make me change my mind!" Jesse said.

Bo smiled and hugged his uncle as he said, "Thanks, Uncle Jesse."

The sound of a car, pulled the Duke's out of their family time, and when the words' "BO DUKE, GET YER BUTT OUT HERE!" was heard, all of the Duke's grew angry.

"You give me th' go ahead cuz' and I'll send em' back where they came from!" Luke said as he stood by his newly aquired bow and arrow set.

"Not jus' yet, cuz'. Let's see if they'll listen ta reason." Bo suggested as he headed for the door.

"Reason? They don't have the brains that God gave a turkey, so I doubt that they'll listen ta reason." Luke said.

Bo shrugged his shoulders, opened the door and stepped out of the house.

"Young man, get you're butt over here now!" Russel ordered as he pointed a finger at Bo.

Bo rolled his eyes, not wanting to show respect to these people as he took his time walking over to them.

"Bo, honey, you're father's just stressed right now. The reason we want you ta come with us, is because we want you ta race for us in the NASCAR circuit in Atlanta." Mandie said.

In any other time and place, Bo would be intrested, but the past few hours rang out in his mind.

"Sorry ma'am, but I think he is way beyond stressed. No man, in his right mind would try to kill me or my cousin!" Bo said angrily.

By this time Russel was shaking with rage.

Quickly he reached into his pocket and withdrew his gun and pointed it at Bo.

"Alright Bo, I'm through be'in nice. Either you come with me now or you get shot right here and now!" Russel said as he cocked the gun.

"Ya can't shoot me!" Bo said defiently as he stood straight and tall before Russel.

"Ya know somethin', you're absolutly right." Russel said as he pointed the gun and Luke, who had come out of the house, and fired.

"NO!" Bo yelled as he turned and watched his cousin drop to the ground with blood splattering on his shirt.

Before Bo could rush to help his cousin, Russel reached out and grabbed Bo's wrist.

"LET ME GO!" Bo screamed as he struggled in Russel's grip.

"Like hell I will!" Russel said as he punched Bo in the face hard enough to knock the young Duke down.

Meanwhile, Jesse had heard the shot and had come running out to see Luke drop to the ground and Russel hit Bo.

Jesse was unsure of who to help, but since Luke was closer, he went over to help the young man and could only watch as Russel loaded Bo's limp form into his jeep and drove off with his wife.
