It had been a month since Jasmine had entered the coma. Everyone was still sad and depressed. Aladdin had visited her last week to check up on things. There he was told by the doctor that she wasn't getting worse, but it didn't look like she was getting any better. The princess was at a stand still. The tubes and needles were the only thing keeping her alive at this point. Without them she could die. Aladdin pushed those thoughts aside as he looked at the hospital from Jasmine's balcony and then back at the room. Recently he and the palace staff have taken on the project to restore her room for her. The servants had gotten rid of the soiled sheets and mattress and replaced them. The seamstress was making new outfits for her and his family was helping by redecorating. Unfortunately they also uncovered some awful findings. In the closets they found moldy foods and ripped pieces of clothing. Bags of vomit were found underneath her bed and locks of hair were scattered all over the room. While he did feel somewhat guilty about letting others see Jasmine's personal stuff, what he really wanted was for her to physically see she wasn't alone. There were people out there to help her.

During the meantime he had also signed himself up for therapy with someone. At first he was hurt by the fact that his friends told a complete stranger about his actions. But he knew it needed to be done in order for him to heal as well. Through their meetings the psychologist and him talked about his actions and how much Jasmine's disorder had been affecting him. They even went as far as to talk about his past and stress about being the sultan. To his surprise he was also given some anxiety medication which seemed to work. Overall he was thankful that he went since it gave him someone to vent to about his emotion after having only Jasmine to.

Aladdin took his gaze from the hospital to the peacock fountain that centered her garden. He imagined he and Jasmine hanging out and having fun in the garden. He imagined her smiling and laughing along with him. Then he looked at the sky and imagined them in the sky. He remembered them stargazing in the clouds. He wished things were different. He wished that he never said those things to her and that she was happy. But overall he just wanted Jasmine back. He wanted to see her smile and he wanted to just hug her again and tell her how much he loved her.

Aladdin was taken out of thought when he heard squeaking coming down the hall. He looked behind him and saw Abu. He didn't even have a second to think before Abu jumped in his arms and began to screech at him.

"What what? What's going on Abu?"

Abu began to screech and jump up and down.

"Did you have a nightmare?" Abu shook his head.

Abu jumped up and down and then ran over to Jasmine's blue head piece. When Abu saw that Aladdin wasn't getting it he ran over to her bed and pretended to sleep. And then he woke up and hopped up and down.

"Abu what the heck is going on?"

Just then Iago came flying into the room.

"Aladdin! Aladdin, get yourself dressed and head to the hospital!"

"What why?"He asked, confused.

"Jasmine! She's awake!"

Aladdin felt his heart stop for a moment. It was as if the light at the end of the tunnel finally lit up. When he finally comprehend what was going on he ran out the room. He quickly grabbed a coat from the coat rack and called out for Carpet.

"Jasmine I'm coming babe!" he yelled as he hopped onto Carpet which had just turned the corner.

The ride was short and quick. When they landed Aladdin practically ran into the hospital and almost into the Sultan who was already there waiting for him. The two embraced in a hug and then the two men made their way down the hall and to Jasmine's room. When the two walked in they saw Jasmine alone. She didn't look any different but her eyes were halfway open. Aladdin walked up to her slowly. Though he noticed that she didn't acknowledge him. Was she mad at him for doing this?

"Oh Dearest…" the sultan mumbled. He walked over to her and picked up her hand and placed it on his face. His heart broke when he noticed that Jasmine didn't respond.

"Dearest, are you mad at us?" he asked. Jasmine didn't respond.

"Jasmine what's going on babe?" Aladdin asked. He waved his hand in front of her face to see any change.

"She's not going to respond to you guys. She just woke up and it's usual for people to not respond," a nurse said walking up the princess, "it's likely she will be very confused and not aware of your guy's presence," she said as she waved a flash light in front of her. "She is very tired and I don't think she'll come around any time soon,"

"But she'll come around right?" Aladdin asked, holding her hand.

"It's only a matter of time. We've done the best we can do. It's up to her really,"

"Oh Jas we just got you back and we might lose you again," he said, looking into her eyes. He looked into her exhausted and tired eyes. Even though it was hard to see past them he could tell that she was in pain.

"Hey babe. Can you hear me?" he asked, looking at her.

To his amazement he felt a light squeeze on his hand and he watched as she slightly nodded her head. Then he felt her try to shift off of her back.

"Wait Jas hold on,"

As she weakly tried to sit up she was pushed back by Aladdin.

"Jas rest please,"

Jasmine wanted to tell him that her back hurt. She wanted to tell him that she was sorry. She wanted to tell him why she was there. But she just couldn't.

"Jasmine what's wrong?"

Jasmine tried to move to her back but when she did and Aladdin didn't stop her a tight pressure engulfed her lower portion. She wanted to cry but she couldn't so instead she fell back and moaned.

"Yea I wouldn't do that babe. That urine collector," he pointed toward the bag full of yellow liquid, "is inserted in your bladder. I wouldn't move,"

Jasmine on the verge of passing out, with all her strength turned on her side. Ignoring the pain she let out a loud moan and rubbed her back.

"Jasmine I know you it hurts being here but I need you to understand-"

"My back…" she whimpered, barely above a whisper.

"Oh I get it. Hold on a second," he said as he got onto the bed.

After getting comfortable Aladdin began to rub and massage her back all over. He then felt her become tense and then she let out multiple moans of pleasure. Aladdin couldn't imagine what kind of back pain she was going through. Being in one position for a month must have hurt. Aladdin contemplated telling her about her coma.

"Princess, how are you feeling?" the nurse asked. She handed Jasmine some water but she refused it.

"Her back is hurting," Aladdin told the nurse.

"I'm not surprised it hurts but I am surprised that she's awake,"

Jasmine hearing this stopped moaning and looked at Aladdin. Now her eyes were all the way open.

"What do you mean?" she asked.

Aladdin sighed in defeat and took her hand. He looked into her teary, tired eyes.

"Jasmine, you don't have to believe me. But you've been in a coma for the past month,"

Jasmine froze. She just couldn't comprehend what was going on. So many questions swirled around in her head. 'Why? Why am I just now waking up? What happened to cause this?'

"Jasmine are you ok?"

"What happened?" was all she could manage to say.

"You were weak Jasmine. Your body was too weak to keep going so you entered a coma,"

"No…" she mumbled before taking her hand away from Aladdin.

"No no no! No that can't be! I- I-"

"Jasmine, calm down. You're not thinking straight. It's going to be ok,"

"No this can't be! I- I- NO!" Jasmine was now curled up in a ball. She was hysterically crying and whimpering. The nurse, noticing that Jasmine needed some family time, left the room quietly. Aladdin tugged her hand and tried to calm her down. The whole time a million thoughts were going through Jasmine's head. 'What happened during that time without me? Is Agrabah in shambles? What do people think of me,'

Aladdin didn't know what to say to her. Jasmine's father stroked her hair and told her, "Jasmine, it's ok. You'll get better and-"

"No it's not! I can't believe this happened!? I- I'm the princess. I can't believe myself. How could I let this happen! I- I just wanted to skip a few meals!" she cried looking at Aladdin.

"I know it's hard. But you need to try to calm down," The sultan said.

"I can't! I can't with myself! How could I let myself get this out of hand- OW!" she cried as she tugged on the tube connected to her bladder.

"Don't tug on it," Aladdin warned her.

"I didn't mean to! I just want it gone…" she whimpered.

Aladdin hugged the hysterical Jasmine and began to rub her back all over again.

"Shh I know it hurts,"

"Mhm," she mumbled.

"Dearest, I need you to try to calm down ok," her father finally said.

Jasmine stopped crying and looked over at her father. She hadn't even realized that her father was there.

"I'm sorry father,"

"What are you sorry for?"

"I'm sorry for being a disappointment and for putting you guys through this," she whimpered now looking down.

"Jasmine you don't have to be sorry for anything,"

"But- but I put you guys through pain and sadness all month,"

"You had no idea baby girl,"

"I- I know…"

"So don't worry about it,"

"You're not mad are you?" she asked

"Jasmine, we're not mad at you at all. This just happened because you were too weak," Aladdin told her, holding her hand.

"And then you'll get better and then you'll get out of here," The sultana finished

"I woke up. Isn't that enough?" Jasmine asked.

Her father looked at her and then sighed, "Well that's the first step. You just need to eat and get better I promise,"

"I'll do better if I'm home," she retorted.

"Jasmine, you need to be here in case of an emergency," Aladdin told her.

"But I can't handle anymore of these beds, these tubes, anything,"

"Jasmine…" Aladdin sighed.

"Please… I promise I'll get better,"

"Jasmine you can't keep making promises and not keep them," Aladdin said.

"But- But I'll actually try this time,"

"Dearest this is for the best. You're lucky your even awake and talking right now,"

"How is that lucky?"

"Well most people are confused and are extremely tired when they first wake up," her father explained.

"I'm tired,"

"I understand. I would be to,"

"Can- can I just go home?"

Her father and Aladdin looked at each other. And then her. Jasmine began to tremble and shiver. When she saw them shake their heads, she knew she had no other way to talk herself out of going home. Jasmine in defeat pulled away from their arms and began to cry again.

"Jasmine, please don't cry," her father said, trying to comfort her. Jasmine sat on the bed trembling and crying as her father tried to keep her clam. Aladdin rubbed her back up and down. For the next half hour they watched as Jasmine trembled and cried. Jasmine just wanted it to be over. She hated the hospital and she couldn't imagine another lonely month in this place.

"I don't want to be alone…" she cried.

"You're not going to. We'll visit you-" her father tried to say.

"No you won't! You never visited me during my other hospital visits. And I had to sit all alone all night! How do I know you won't just do the exact same thing?" she asked hysterically.

Her father and Aladdin didn't know what to say. They looked at Jasmine who was trembling and cold.

"Jasmine shh it's going to be ok," Aladdin told her as he wrapped his arms around her. Jasmine grabbed his arms and began to whimper.

"Shh…"

"I want to go home," she mumbled.

"I know you do. But you're not in good health right now,"

"But I wanna go home please!" she cried.

Jasmine cried and whimpered in Aladdin's arms. She knew that no matter what she would be staying in the hospital. No matter how much she cried and begged, it would do absolutely nothing. About a few minutes later Jasmine fell asleep in Aladdin's arms. Aladdin brushed some tears from her eyes and pulled back some of her hair.

"Oh Dearest… soon you'll be better," her father said, holding her hand.

Aladdin and her father looked at each other and then her. Aladdin felt Jasmine go limp fully in his hand. Aladdin slowly pulled his hands off of her.

"I think it's time to go," Aladdin said walking out of the room. Her father looked at her and then walked out of the room following Aladdin.

Aladdin was out on the balcony again. It was around 1 am. No matter how hard he tried he could not for the life of him stop thinking about Jasmine. The image of her being in the bed would not escape his mind. It was hard but Aladdin had to remember that this was real life. It wasn't magic and it would be a long road to recovery. He had wished that she would wake up and everything would be better. But this was real life. There was no Genie magic he could use and at the end of the day it was up to Jasmine to get better. But after seeing how weak she was he didn't even know if that was possible.

"Aladdin?" a scratchy voice called from above.

"Yea Iago,"

"How was everything?" he asked.

"It was hard. She did wake up. But she's not doing well,"

"What's going on? If she's awake, isn't she doing better?" the bird asked, confused. How could someone be awake but not well?

"She's having a hard time accepting that she's been asleep for a month. And she wants to go home now but she's to ill,"

"But- but she's awake," the bird mumbled.

"But she's ill. She's me- mentally ill to,"

"What do you mean by that?" Iago asked.

"I mean that she's anorexic and bulimic. She thinks low of herself and she has a dangerously low amount of self confidence in herself,"

"But what happened? She never used to be like that,"

"Maybe not before but she is now. I think it was the pressure and wanting to be the best she can be that caused to start purging and stuff,"

"I didn't think it could be that bad…"

"Neither did I. I didn't even think it was real to be honest until the doctor told me. I didn't know she had an actual disorder," Aladdin sighed as he remembered the time he walked in on Jasmine.

"How much does she weigh now?"

"In the lower 80's,"

"What!" Iago screeched, almost falling off of the balcony.

"Yeah I know,"

"What does she look like?" Iago asked curiously.

"I don't think she would want me sharing it with you. I don't even know how she would react to seeing her room all clean,"

"It would be pretty ungrateful to not be happy for people to clean out your own room," Iago said.

"Yeah but we did go through her stuff that she probably didn't want people to see,"

"Well it was going to happen some time. Might as well make it now in case she-"

"Iago!" Aladdin interrupted.

"Hey, watch it! I wasn't going to say what you thought I was going to say. I was going to say before she got out of hand and it got worse,"

Aladdin stood there for a moment before returning to the balcony. He looked into the night sky.

"Someday Jasmine will get better,"

"It's only a matter of time," Iago said, flying back onto Aladdin's shoulder.

Aladdin let out a giant sigh, "I seriously can't believe those things I said to her," he mumbled, looking out into the vast sky.

"You weren't thinking,"

"I was thinking. I was thinking about my mother. I was getting flashbacks when I was a kid and watching my mother die a slow painful death from starvation…"

"Oh kid…" Iago sighed hugging him.

"I was imagining Jasmine dying just like my mother did,"

"I understand. It must be hard,"

"I just don't want to lose Jasmine the same way my mother died. I want to live out a long happy life with her. And I know she would want the same,"

"I bet she does. And if we treat her like an actual human being with feelings I bet she'll get better," Iago told him.

The two stood on the balcony for a while. Millions thoughts ran through their minds of what the few weeks would be like. After some time Aladdin pulled back from the railing and sighed.

"Come on Iago it's late,"

"Are we heading to bed?" The bird asked.

"Yeah it's late. We need sleep for tomorrow,"

"What's going tomorrow,"

"We'll I'm planning to go visit her again in the morning,"

"Ok well… I guess I'll head back to my room. Nice talking to you Al,"

Iago then flew off the balcony as Aladdin watched from above as the tiny silhouette of Iago shrank until it finally flew down into a window. Aladdin sighed and then walked into his bedroom. He laid down and then tucked himself into bed. As was resting he looked down and remembered when he would hold her every night and she would fall asleep peacefully in arms. He imagined that he was doing the same thing and she was just as she was before it all started. A time where everything was perfect. As he thought, his eyes grew heavy and soon he was fast asleep.

Meanwhile on the other side of Agrabah Jasmine began to stir awake. The princess didn't know what woke her up but soon it became apparent that the root cause was pain. Pain rippled through her body. In her stomach, head, and back. Her eyes weakly fluttered open only for her to shut them again to try to ease out the pain. On the bed the princess would groan and moan as the pain grew worse. It wasn't the worst pain she had felt but it was enough to wake her up from her slumber. Jasmine wondered why no one was there to comfort her or help her pain but it soon became apparent that no one was in the room. Only her.

At first she was hurt. Why would they leave her when she was in a dire situation? But then she felt bad. There was nowhere else for anyone to sleep and who would be too far to sleep next to someone in a hospital? The only place left was the floor and no one would do that, she thought. They didn't love her that much. And besides what difference would it make? All she would do was scream at them to go away. It's what always would happen when someone would try to comfort her. She would think and she would say so many things she didn't mean. Jasmine thought about the times that her family tried to help her, but she would only push them away. She didn't mean to say those things. She didn't mean to make them feel like they weren't enough. And she especially didn't mean to hurt her family in the way she did.

All she wanted was to be the best princess anyone could have asked for. She wanted to make a difference in the world. She wanted to be just like her mother.

Jasmine began to cry. What would the citizens of Agrabah think of her if they found out that she had been in a coma for a month? What did her family think of her? What did her mother think of her? Were they angry?

Jasmine knew that they weren't angry but the slim chance they could be haunted her mind. They were probably disappointed in her for not being like her mother. Her mother was an icon. She had done a lot for the kingdom such as establishing alliances and helping fix a lot of the economy. You couldn't talk about Agrabah's history without mentioning her at least once. And the thought of her mother giving birth to an heir who died by starving herself broke Jasmine. All she wanted to be was like her mother. She wanted to make a difference after being locked up in the palace for so long. She wanted to make a difference. And the second she had the chance to, she threw it along with her life away.

As much as she tried Jasmine just couldn't comprehend how she had gotten so low. So low to the point where she was being rushed to the emergency room every other day it felt like. She couldn't understand how someone who had a bright future ahead of them could fall so low. Most of all she didn't understand why it was so hard to get better. All she did was stop taking care of herself. At least that's what she thought.

The princess whimpered as the thought of gaining back reputation entered her mind. She wanted to be known for making a difference. But now all she was known for was starving herself to death and bringing her family down with it. The thought of people thinking that she was selfish and ungrateful scared her. Of course she was grateful for the love and support she was getting. She was grateful for the opportunity of growing up without having to worry about basic needs.

Jasmine began to shiver. She wanted to grab the thin blanket that was underneath her but whenever she moved her urine collector tube would pull. Shivering she looked down at the bag that was attached to a hook on the side frame.

"This is stupid," she mumbled, "I don't need any of this. I know how to pee and eat," she cried.

Jasmine closed her eyes as another wave of pain struck her. Once again she had been rushed to the hospital and then was left to rot. She felt like she was a type of science experiment just being kept alive because she was "needed". Every time they would resuscitate her she would always be left with the same thought. Why? Why was she so special that everyone felt like she needed to be alive? Why would they continue to make her suffer even though they knew she was in pain? The thoughts only fueled her idea that no one loved her and they only cared because she was the princess.

Jasmine's eyes began to feel heavy until she could no longer keep them open. The exhaustion of the night had taken over the pain and now all the princess could feel was tiredness and a slight amount of pain every so often. There in a hospital bed she was once again left all alone like she had been for so long.
