Charlie came out of her box after another successful day at Freddy's. She made her over to the stage, where Freddy, Bonnie and Chica stood waiting. Suddenly, a scream came echoing from the office down the halls. The puppet became conscious of the security cameras added after the murders, knowing that someone was watching them at all times.

"Hi, Charlie!" Freddy said with a smile.

"Hi, Gabe, or, uh, Freddy," Charlie replied, fumbling over her words, "What…name, I guess, do you guys prefer? Would you want to be Gabe or Freddy?"

Freddy put a hand to his chin in thought. "Well, I'm Gabe, but…I don't really know how much of me is actually in here. Honestly I feel more like I'm Freddy than Gabe. So, Freddy works for me, I suppose."

Charlie turned to Bonnie and Chica. "And what about you two?"

"I'd say that about sums it up," Chica said.

"Yeah."

"Alright, that's cleared up," Charlie said, then glanced at Pirate's Cove before adding, "How's Fritz, err, Foxy doing?"

"Not great," Freddy said, "He's been moping behind those curtains since his nasty fall. I heard the techs say his parts were all intact, but his suit's been damaged around the legs. He can't really go on stage, and they aren't willing to spend the money to get a new suit. So now they've just put up an out of order sign and left him to rot."

"Not another one," Charlie moaned, glancing at the door leading to the backstage.

"Charlie, are you okay?" Chica asked.

"Do you guys think I did the right thing? You know, with Cassidy?" The three animatronics shared looks with each other, clearly hesitant to share their thoughts on the matter.

"Well, we don't really know why you didn't put her in another body," Freddy said, "Wasn't there a new animatronic planned to be revealed? A dog or something?"

"I thought so, but it was shelved," Charlie sighed, "I just…I didn't want her to be stuck in that room, unable to do anything. And now Fritz is in the situation I wanted to avoid Cassidy suffering."

"Is there anything you could have put her in?" Bonnie asked.

"Not really. I mean, after Foxy's incident, they're getting a backup endoskeleton, just in case, but…I don't know." Charlie slid down against the wall onto the floor. "Maybe I should have just let you guys move on."

"Why didn't you?" Chica asked.

"You deserved a second chance at life. Not that this life is all that similar to what you had, but…" Charlie trailed off as Freddy placed a hand on her shoulder.

"You were given a no-win situation, and tried to get the best outcome you could," the bear said, "You did as much as you could."

"I suppose."

"Maybe we can take your mind off it by cheering up Fritz," Freddy suggested, "How does that sound?"

Charlie looked up at the bear, whose warm smile melted away her worries, at least for the moment. "You know, you're a pretty great leader," she said.

"I have experience."

"Who's talking, Gabe or Freddy?"

"Doesn't really matter. We both have some."

"Hey, Fritz?" Chica called into the curtains, which concealed the pirate fox's den, "Foxy, are you there?" No response came from the curtains.

"Fritz, are you okay?" Bonnie asked, moving closer to the curtains, "May we come in?"

Freddy stepped up to the curtains and gripped them tight. "Up and at 'em, Fritz!" he said, throwing the curtains aside, "We're here to lift your…" Foxy was nowhere to be seen. "…spirits."

"Where'd he go?" Chica asked.

"I don't know," Charlie said.

Suddenly the guard inside the office screamed again, but this outburst was different. The original was a mildly startled yelp, but this one dripped with fear and agony. The four animatronics ran towards the source of the noise. As they reached the office, they found the night guard clutching at his right eye as he cowered before Foxy.

"Fr-Foxy, stop!" Charlie cried, careful not to reveal the fact that the animatronics were possessed, "What are you doing?" Foxy turned around to look at his friends, his eyes a black void with white pinpricks for pupils. Seeing an opportunity to escape, the guard ran out the other door, causing Foxy to glare at the other animatronics before giving chase.

Charlie jumped onto Foxy, trying to hold him back. The fox threw her off before turning his hook on her. His swing at her was only stopped because Freddy grabbed his arm. Chica and Bonnie quickly joined the bear's efforts to restrain Foxy, allowing Charlie to check on the guard.

"Are you okay?" she asked.

"Stay the hell back, you monsters!" he screamed, "I'm getting out of here, and then I'm gonna make sure you bastards become scrap metal!"

Kill him. A deep voice echoed in the puppet's head, causing her to look around for the source. He's going to destroy your friends, and your work to give them a "second chance at life" will go to waste. Keep that from happening by any means necessary.

Charlie knew that the voice's suggestions were wrong, but she no longer had control over her body. She advanced towards the panicked night guard, who weakly backed away, and wrapped her arms around his neck. His hands moved to pry himself free from her grip, revealing the right eye that he had covered to have been gouged out by Foxy, but she simply squeezed the man's throat tighter. His struggle was meaningless, and his hands fell limply to his sides as Charlie lowered him to the floor.

The puppet blinked, slowly becoming aware of her actions and trying to shake the man awake, but he wasn't asleep. His remaining good eye stared blankly at her, his gaze piercing through her like an arrow. He was dead. She killed him. They killed him.

She had to hide the body, hide the evidence that could scrap them all. Where could she put it where no one would find it? The suits, the voice whispered in her ear, Put him in one of the suits. Once more in a trance, Charlie dragged the corpse through the dining area to the backstage.

She brought the dead man over to a suit for Freddy, leaning over to see what was inside. The body was filled with crossbeams, wires, and countless sharp metal objects, perfect to dispose of the body. She aligned the guard's feet to place them inside the suit before pressing down once. The metal devices presented resistance, so she shoved down on the body harder, and harder, until the metal gave way, or more accurately, the body did.

Charlie sluggishly took the head of the Freddy suit and pressed it down onto the man's skull, sliding it into place with enough effort. She floated back to admire her work, taking note of the strange, squishy marble on the floor next to the suit. Red liquid dripped out of the mouth and eye holes, creating a puddle that slowly engulfed the orb on the floor. Charlie looked down at her own body to see that it was covered by the same red liquid.

She snapped out of it once more, realization slowly dawning on her. She floated out of the room as fast as she could, unable to stay to understand what just happened. As she tried to retreat into her box, she was stopped by the other animatronics.

"Charlie! There you are!" Chica said, "We were worried something ha—" Her eyes widened in horror, as did those of her friends, and they all backed away from the puppet. She opened her beak to finish her thought, but the words failed to escape her voice box.

"What…did you do?" Freddy asked, anger barely masked in his voice.

"I killed him," Charlie said softly, trying not to let her own mind register the fact.

"Why?" Bonnie asked, "I thought you, of all people, wouldn't want to kill anyone. You know, 'cause you were murdered?"

"I wasn't in control!"

"Tell me about it."

"No, I mean someone else was in control of my body!" Charlie pleaded, "There was a voice, a whisper. Something in my head. It told me to kill him, and the next thing I knew, he was dead with my arms around his neck. Then it told me to hide it in the suits, and then…" She trailed off, unable to stomach the sight she had woken up to.

"And then, what?" Freddy asked, still glaring at the puppet.

"You can see for yourself, but I highly suggest that you don't." Charlie looked down at herself, her fabric still stained crimson. "You can probably get a good idea just from what I look like."

"It does line up with what I went through," Foxy said, scratching his chin with his hook, "Although, I didn't hear any voices. I just fell asleep and woke up with you three restraining me."

"How could something take you over?" Bonnie said, jabbing a finger into Charlie's chest, "You who is oh-so-powerful? You who gave us our new lives? Maybe you took over Foxy and used that experience to fake your own possession, just to string us along to do your bidding."

"Freddy?" Chica's voice created a lull in the accusations. Foxy, Bonnie, and Charlie all turned to see the bear twitching, his eyes dim white dots floating in a void. Bonnie immediately turned back to the puppet.

"You think this changes things?" he asked, advancing on Charlie, "You think you can trick us into believing you can't control two bodies at once? There's no one here to take the blame. No one to hide behind. And you know what? I think that guard deserves some avenging."

"Bonnie, stop!" Chica cried. The bunny grabbed Charlie and slammed her against the nearest wall. "Jeremy, please!" Bonnie faltered, turning to look back at his friend.

"Go on, Jeremy, my brave gentleman," a new voice, a woman's voice, echoed through the room, mixed in with the deep voice that had infiltrated Charlie's mind, "Come to my aid once again and repay dear Charlie for her inconsiderate behavior. You know you want to." Bonnie's eyes widened as he stumbled backwards away from the puppet.

"Mmmmm. Disappointing," the voice said. It had no body to its name, and yet the disgust in her voice seeped in from the cracks in the walls. "There was a time you would have indulged my every request. That time has passed, it would seem. What a shame." A golden bear passed through the walls separating the backstage from the main room, shaking her head in mock sorrow. "I know how you felt about me."

"Cassidy?" was all Bonnie managed to spit out. His knees began to wobble until he let them give and he fell onto the floor. The yellow suit shifted its tiny white dots onto Charlie, ignoring her former friend's shock. The dots she had for eyes seemed to grow in intensity the longer they were locked on the puppet.

"And you," she growled, her words becoming the deep voice that had whispered in her ear, "You thought you could just leave me in that suit, to wither and rot? You promised us bodies. You promised me a body. And you broke that promise. You abandoned me."

"Cassidy, she feels horrible about it," Chica said, "She thought that she could put you in a new character, but then—"

"SHUT UP!" Cassidy roared. Freddy moved forward and knocked the chicken onto the ground, before throwing himself onto the ground before the golden bear removed her influence. "I don't give a damn about what her plan was. She thought it was okay to let me rot, and for that, she suffers."

"Cassidy, please. I'm sorry," Charlie begged, but Cassidy held up a paw to silence her.

"But that can wait for later," the golden bear said, shifting her gaze to her former friends, "As of now, I'm offering you four a choice: join me to find the bastard who did this to us and make him pay, or surrender your free will to me and I'll do it myself."

"Would Charlie's incident be an indication of how you intend to make them pay?" Freddy asked, "Because I don't think we're interested."

"Your choice, I suppose," Cassidy sighed, "You won't remember a thing. But they will die at your hands."

"We can fight you," Chica said, "You can't control us if we don't let you."

"Yes, I can," Cassidy said as she disappeared into the night, "I'd love to talk more with you, but unfortunately, your day is about to start."

Suddenly, all four animatronics adopted Cassidy's eyes and began to return to their positions. Charlie tried to stop them, but exhaustion began to set in, an experience she hadn't had since her death. Her body once again belonged to Cassidy, and she floated back to her box. The moment she was inside, her autonomy returned, and she tried to escape, but Cassidy waited outside the box.

"Sweet dreams," she whispered as she closed the box, sealing Charlie into her dark prison.

Charlie had no idea how long Cassidy's reign of terror had gone on. The repeated deaths had eventually closed the pizzeria, but the restaurant didn't stay down for long. Freddy and the gang were replaced, however, with new models. They were shiny with rosy cheeks, almost reminding Charlie of herself. But Freddy Fazbear and his pals weren't the only ones who came back.

"Good job, Chica," Cassidy said, following the animatronic into the main area, "But if you try to defy me again, I will tear you limb from limb." Her voice no longer had the female voice to it, only the deep one that they heard when she took control of them.

"I don't…don't know what you're talking about," the chicken said, her arms sprouting wires instead of hands, a result of the older animatronics aborted upgrades, "All I saw was Freddy."

"DO NOT LIE TO ME, CHICA!" Cassidy roared, "I know that you're using that Freddy head as an excuse to resist me!"

"I'm not! And if I was, go ahead and take me apart! Then you can't use me to kill innocent people!"

"Of course, you're right," Cassidy said, "Perhaps you'd feel differently if I wanted to scrap Toy Chica."

"Don't you dare, you…jerk!" Chica said, moving in front of her replacement.

"Come on, now, Chica. Use your words."

"Fine, I won't fight you! Just leave her alone."

"Deal," Cassidy said, vanishing into the night.

Charlie retreated into her box. Cassidy's rule had gone on long enough. But she was too strong for Charlie to engage head-on. She needed a chance for her to take the golden bear by surprise.

Charlie's opportunity came in the middle of the summer. Cassidy was recuperating after expending all of her energy trying once again to kill the guard who left the messages on the phone. Usually this would offer a few days of respite from the vengeful spirit. This time, it would offer so much more.

Charlie waved her hand, summoning Cassidy to her box. The golden bear dropped to the ground, barely able to maintain her form. She was weak, unable to take control of the puppet. She would regret being so foolish.

"What…what do you want?" Cassidy managed.

"Oh my, is something wrong, Cassidy?" Charlie asked mockingly.

"Piss off, you bitch." Charlie was hoping the bear would unleash her arsenal of curse words.

"I'm sorry to hear that, because we here at Freddy Fazbear's do not tolerate the usage of profanity on the premises," Charlie said, beginning to concentrate on her end goal, "Frankly, most of what you do here is against the rules. We've overlooked it in the past, but now, I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to leave."

Cassidy attempted to lunge at the puppet, but she found herself unable to move. She locked her white specks onto Charlie as she began to fade.

"I wish it didn't have to come to this, Cassidy," Charlie said, "You've forced my hand. This time, I hope you'll simply decide to move on."

Cassidy pooled together all of her strength to form her last words. "Go to hell, you f—" Her act of defiance left her without the strength to remain, and her presence in the pizzeria disappeared before she could finish. The restless spirit wasn't the only one whose strength had left them, as Charlie collapsed limply onto the floor.

"What's going on out—" Freddy asked, appearing from the hallway to check on the commotion. His eyes fell onto the motionless puppet. "Charlie!" he cried, rushing over to her, followed by the other three animatronics.

"Charlie, are you okay?" Chica asked.

"I'm not sure," the puppet managed, "I had to use up most of my power to seal her away. But she's gone. Cassidy's gone."

"Just rest," Freddy said, carrying her over to her box, "You'll be okay. We're all going to be okay now, thanks to you."

Charlie gave a small smile. She was hesitant before to close her eyes. She didn't want to leave her friends defenseless. They weren't defenseless, not with Gabe in charge.

Charlie leaned back against her box and embraced the dark slumber.

Fortunately for her, it didn't take long to recover, just a week. Cassidy was gone, which meant they could do whatever they wanted in the night. What's more, the restaurant looked like it wouldn't be closing anytime soon. Everything was right with the world.

And then Marcus showed up.

"Thanks, Charlie," Marcus muttered, "You really know how to make a guy feel wanted." He glanced at his watch, finding that the small device read 5:55. "Shit," he hissed, drawing the stun gun as stood up and turned around. There was nothing behind him.

"Like I said, you don't have to worry," Charlie said.

"You told me all this to distract me, didn't you?"

"What makes you say that?"

"You could have told me a short version of why everyone's possessed, instead of some long ass story that took all night to tell."

"As far as I'm concerned, it did exactly what I wanted it to do: keep you from taking everyone apart." Charlie gestured to the door. "Goodnight, Marcus. Time for you to leave."

"You sneaky bitch," Marcus replied, unable to hide his impressed smirk.

"I appreciate the sentiment. Now get out."

Hello to those who read this! I'm gonna be honest, I had a hard time finishing this chapter. I guess I just kinda ran out of steam. Which brings me to an unfortunate announcement. I'm going to be taking a break from this story. Don't worry, though, because I won't be abandoning it forever, nor will I be leaving the vacuum created by this hiatus unfilled. I have a few different ideas that I will be working on, and hopefully they will be done pretty soon. It might not be FNaF, though. Hang in there, everyone! Hopefully, I'll get something up soon. Happy Halloween!
