Breakfast and Conversation

When Harry came downstairs for breakfast it was to discover a very excited Daisy who was all but bouncing in her chair as she announced that Eggsy was in a really, REALLY good mood. Which was lovely to hear of course, though it did lead to some laughter and blushing on Eggsy's part when Harry learned that as a result of that good mood Eggsy had gone a little overboard when it came to the food preparations. As in they could have invited a few more people to dine with them and still had leftovers thanks to the Full English currently waiting to be devoured.

Which was why Daisy was acting like she'd had a great deal of sugar and needed more, Harry surmised as he looked over the offering spread out across their table. It was all there from the sausages, bacon and eggs to the baked beans. The only things missing were the blood pudding and mushrooms, as none of them were terrible fond of either food item.

"Thank goodness I worked up an appetite." Harry blurted out without thinking, a role reversal occurring immediately as it was his turn to flush while Eggsy burst out into delighted laughter, the boy's entire torso shaking with amusement.

"Yeah. We got ta keep our strength up, don't we?" Eggsy finally managed to choke out with a grin.

"Among other things, yes."

Damn. He'd forgotten the 'no sexual innuendos around Daisy' rule.

Naturally Eggsy didn't mind, the boy's grin growing that much wider.

"Right. Well we better start eating all this before it goes-"

The doorbell rang.

"Oh for-it's Sunday morning. Whoever that is is fresh out of luck. Ignore it."

Turning his head in the direction of the front door Harry gave it a fierce scowl. He was a gentleman, yes, but there were lines that should not be crossed. Bothering someone this early in the morning on the weekend was one of them.

"I'll get it. Could be one of the neighbors needin sugar or somethin."

Possible, Harry supposed, though he would have thought most of said neighbors were well-mannered enough not to bother someone at this ungodly hour. But the point was mote since Eggsy was already on his way out of the room anyway, leaving Harry with a very impatient Daisy who wanted to eat but knew that she had to wait until Eggsy was back and they were all served.

Harry could sympathize with her as he started to fill up his plate, the variety of choices giving him enough pause that he'd barely put anything on said plate before he heard two separate pairs of feet approaching. And he immediately recognized the tread of their 'guest'.

"Of course it's you."

"I came to drop off Eggsy's containers." Was Merlin's oh so innocent response, the Scotsman utterly without shame as he followed Eggsy into the dining room. "Good morning by the way. You're looking well."

Rolling his eyes Harry watched Merlin stroll over to take a seat while Eggsy shook his head at the both of them while stating that he was going to put the containers away and get Merlin a plate and such. They were to behave until he got back.

"I'm not the one showing up unannounced and uninvited to our table." Harry muttered under his breath, wishing for Merlin to hear him rather than Eggsy.

"For your information the lad invited me to join you. He said he'd made too much as it is. Which obviously he did." Merlin's eyes moved over the table's contents lovingly, his gluttony on full display.

"He only invited you because it would have been rude to do otherwise. Which is why you came this early in the first place. You should be ashamed of yourself." Harry pointed the prongs of his fork in Merlin's direction for emphasis. "You're just lucky that he did make too much."

"Which also means that my showing up is fortuitous as one should never waste food." Merlin shot back as he took his seat across from Daisy, who gave him a distracted wave. "And good morning to you, Lass. Did ya have a good rest then?"

Daisy nodded without looking in Merlin's direction. She was too busy watching the door Eggsy had disappeared through, willing him to appear faster so that she could eat.

Not offended in the least, Merlin chuckled. "Right. Food first."

"She tends to be a glutton at mealtimes. Just like someone else I know."

"Then I'm in good company, am I not?"

It was tempting to start eating right in front of Merlin, just to make a point, but there was Daisy to consider. Especially since she might very well unleash a tantrum of epic toddler proportions if he was to eat before she did. And that being the case Harry distracted himself by asking Merlin if there was anything he needed to be apprised of workwise.

Nothing of importance as it turned out, Merlin's summation of the previous day's events carrying them over until Eggsy returned with a plate and such in one hand for Merlin, the other hand holding the plate he'd already prepared for Daisy.

Showing a keen awareness of just how on edge Daisy was after having to wait so long for her food Eggsy went to her first to hand over her plate. Reminding her to eat slowly Eggsy shook his head over the way she dug right in and then turned around to share a look with Harry.

Smiling back Harry stated that given the feast Eggsy had prepared it was hard to blame her.

Face lighting up with pleasure Eggsy stated that Harry was always saying that as he walked around the table to hand the plate laden with utensils and a cup over to Merlin, who accepted them with eager thanks.

"No problem. Eat up, then."

Turning back around Eggsy walked around the table once more, passing by Harry's chair a little closer this time around. Which Harry couldn't help but notice and react to as he met Eggsy's gaze again, memories of the night before in both of their eyes before they remembered that there were other people in the room.

But of course Merlin noticed. And smirked at him.

Though the smirk didn't last long as Merlin pulled out his phone out and seemed to look something up. "Damn. Kay won the pool."

Of course there'd been a pool.

Eggsy just laughed, oh so innocently asking Merlin what pool he was referring to.

"Not the one in the basement, I can tell you that."

"We gots a pool?"

Turning his attention to Daisy Harry smiled at her. "Not the sort of pool you can swim in, I'm afraid."

Daisy's bottom lip popped out in a pout.

"Here now, none of that. Time ta eat your brekkie, kiddo." Taking his seat beside her Eggsy gave Daisy a wink and then turned his attention to filling up his own plate before Merlin took it all.

Having already filled his plate Harry mused over the question of how old she would have to be before Daisy would be big enough to fit into a wetsuit so that she could possibly swim with him in the basement if she really wanted to. Just how small did they make wetsuits? Would she even want to wear one given how much it would have to cover her to ensure that she didn't freeze? It was a question he'd have to pose to Eggsy given that his perception of 'cold' was quite different thanks to his selkie heritage.

Eggsy could join him though. If he wanted to. Something to think about for the future.

Setting that aside for later Harry was tempted to ask Merlin just who had been in the pool and what the odds had been, but thought better of it. He probably didn't want to know how little they'd thought of his self-control where Eggsy was concerned. For that matter...the idea of them betting on his sex life was mortifying.

His facial expression must have been quite amusing given the reaction he got from Merlin.

He hoped the Scot choked at some point. Or not since that would require either himself or Eggsy to give the arse mouth to mouth resuscitation. He'd prefer to avoid that. Not to mention it would likely be disturbing for Daisy on a number of levels.

Darn.

)

They had just finished eating, with food still left uneaten on the table despite Daisy and Merlin's best efforts to decimate everything, when Merlin announced that there was another reason he'd dropped by besides wanting to return Eggsy's containers after the delish lunch he'd prepared for him the day before. The obvious reason was that Merlin was a gluttonous freeloader who would have stolen Eggsy from Harry by now if he wasn't well aware that Harry would kill him for trying...but the serious expression that came over the Scot's face suggested that he might actually have something important to tell them.

"Didn't want to ruin anyone's appetite by bringing it up before." Merlin added, before anyone could ask him that very question. "And I promised Eggsy I'd keep him in the loop."

"It's about that-Lamont guy?" Eggsy asked.

Oh shite.

"Possibly." Merlin gave a pointed look in Daisy's direction.

"Right. I'll put this stuff away while you two get her cleaned up and distract her with coloring or somethin. I'll be quick as I can."

"No rush." Pushing back his chair Merlin got to his feet with a reassuring look on his face. "If it was as bad as you're imagining I would have said something earlier."

Not looking convinced and who could blame him, Eggsy got out of his own chair and started packing things up much more quickly than he would have normally.

Harry was tempted to go over and try to soothe him, but he wasn't all that great at it and getting Daisy cleaned up and occupied would probably be more beneficial in the long run. He was also tempted to demand answers from Merlin now, he could always repeat it for Eggsy later, but Eggsy would likely take offense and Harry wasn't about to shoot himself in his own foot. Particularly if he had to impose safety measures Eggsy was going to hate in the near future.

So he came around the table and picked Daisy up and into his arms instead, Daisy smiling at him while wearing ketchup all around her mouth and sporting dirty fingers that she held up to show him. She almost seemed proud of them.

"Right. A good wash for you, young lady."

Giggling, Daisy was willing to cooperate so long as Mr. Fox came too.

Since there was no way she was going to be holding her favorite stuffie until she was cleaned Harry nimbly tossed the stuffed animal to Merlin to carry before they proceeded to the nearby bath to clean his girl up and make her presentable. At least she hadn't dirtied her clothes.

In short order they had her scrubbed clean, Daisy opting for coloring when she was given a choice between that and playing with her toys. Well aside from Mr. Fox of course, who was situated beside her as she sprawled out on the floor with her coloring book, fat crayons scribbling away with enthusiasm while Harry and Merlin watched her from their nearby seats.

"Should I be worried?" Harry kept his voice low and for Merlin's ears only.

"You've made it clear to the word that the boy is yours. And now he is in all the ways that matter. It would be suicide to touch him."

"I have a lot of enemies."

"And Kingsman behind you."

True. But there were always those who refused to believe that they could be beaten. That they weren't above the law because they'd been gifted with abilities regular humans didn't possess.

"You know I'd never let any harm come ta our elf."

"Our elf?" Harry repeated, pretending to be irked by the Scot's possessive phrasing.

"I do become their guardian if something were to happen to you." Merlin reminded him with a smirk.

"I'm rethinking that decision now."

"Oh? And who would you trust them with? Bors?"

Imagining how that would go distracted them both long enough for Eggsy to finish up in the kitchen, or at least enough that Eggsy felt comfortable leaving the rest for later. He came jogging into the room with a fake smile on his face, swooping down to run a casual hand over his sister's curly head before walking over to take a seat beside Harry, his attention immediately shifting over to Merlin with expecting eyes.

"Right to it then. Bedivere let me know that Samantha has been asking about you, Harry. And Eggsy."

"Who's Samantha?"

Harry sighed, this being a twist he had very much hoped to avoid. "Samantha Bannon is Lamont's sire. She's also one of the most respected and feared vampires in the United Kingdom. She's as well known for her cunning and intelligence as she is for siring 'children' who she should have just fed on and left for dead."

"Harsh." Eggsy's smirk said he wasn't insulted on Samantha's behalf.

"He's not exaggerating, Lad. Not a one of them is worth spit, really."

"Sadly for her that is the case." Harry agreed. "And her lack of 'children' who don't annoy or regularly incur the wrath of the Magical World has led to her finding other ways to maintain her status in the vampire community. Which is why it's not a good thing that she's showing interest in you."

"Or you."

"She knows not to cross me." Harry stated firmly, holding Eggsy's gaze. "And even if she's found out what you are I can't see her putting her life at risk to have you. Lamont's interest in you has likely just piqued her interest. Especially in connection to me."

"Bedivere stated in his report that he made it clear to her that she should drop the subject and stay far away from Eggsy."

Eggsy's eyes narrowed in speculation. "This one of the blokes I ain't met yet that you work with?"

Merlin nodded. "He is. And he is very much looking forward to meeting you."

Given that Bedivere was not only around his age, but very happily married with three children, Harry assumed that the Kingsman agent had heard about Eggsy's cooking prowess. The man had certainly stated his displeasure when he'd found out just how good the food he'd missed out on had been at Addison's party. Above and beyond the amusing affect a small child had on Bors.

The sound Eggsy made interrupted Harry's musings, the very pointed, 'you need to explain' look his-Eggsy was giving him puzzling Harry only for a moment before his brain connected the dots.

Right.

"Tomorrow you and Daisy will come to work with me. There are some forms you'll have to fill out and then...then I can give you a more detailed explanation as to why Samantha would hesitate to cross myself and the individuals who work with me. And some other things I've neglected to mention."

"I've been readin between the lines for a while now, Harry. But yeah, ta quote another Arthur I wouldn't mind some specificity."

"It's a good idea. Both the paperwork and him being there. You'll need to start training him."

"Training him?" Harry did not like the sound of that. That sounded like Merlin thought Eggsy needed Kingsman level training in order to survive.

"Harry, his Air Gift isn't much alone, but if you teach him how to synch and draw power from you he'll have an ace up his sleeve that no one will expect. Now that you two are so close, well se-" Merlin glanced in Daisy's direction guilty, spelling out the word with a flush to his cheeks. "S E X is very powerful magic all on its own. Especially if you share your magic during it. The two of you, your magic was highly compatible before. It will only be stronger now."

For a moment all Harry could think of was that this was not how he'd wanted their first morning after to go. Then he had to silently admit to himself that Merlin was raising some excellent points.

Definitely intrigued now, Eggsy asked Harry how much stronger his Air Gift could be if he borrowed some of Harry's power.

"Given our compatibility and the nature of our-relationship, I would imagine that with some training your power would-well we'll have to wait and see. I don't want to speculate. But I am extremely powerful, Eggsy. And our bond was considerable before..."

That earned him another smirk, though Harry's eyes detected a hint of color in the younger man's cheeks.

"Right. I'll reserve a training room for the two of you, and Daisy can hang out with me."

"You're going to babysit a toddler?"

"I helped Eggsy watch her while you were gone."

Fighting back a smirk of his own Harry was onboard with the idea. Especially if he could somehow find a way to slip Daisy a great deal of sugar without Eggsy finding out. It would serve his friend right for so arrogantly assuming that watching a toddler alone was easy. It bloody well wasn't.

But no, training Eggsy was important and needed to be done as soon as possible. That meant that having Merlin interrupt them constantly with Daisy related questions, or bringing Daisy herself to them because she was too much for the man to handle, would be problematic and counterproductive.

"So you'll be teachin me personally?"

Reacting to the mischievous tone of Eggsy's words Harry had to shake his head over where Eggsy's thoughts had gone.

Though he rather liked letting his mind wander in that direction too.
