This next chapter is titled:
#41: The One Night At Giovanni's Incident (Part 2)
2:00 am
The three Team Rocket members stay huddled behind their desks pouring over the various video feeds of Giovanni's Pokemon Museum. The night so far has been pretty uneventful.
"So how many Pokemon animatronics does this museum hold anyways?" Meowth asks.
"Well, from what the cameras are showing, there appears to be at least four-dozen of them on display. However, there are three of them that appear to stand out from the rest," Jessie comments.
"Oh? Which ones?" Meowth questions in curiosity.
Singling out three particular camera feeds, Jessie proceeds to point out the three animatronics that caught her interest.
Camera Feed #1: Torchic, sitting near an open air duct.
Camera Feed #2: Gurdurr, standing on the corner of a hallway intersection leading to their security office.
Camera Feed #3: Pikachu, sitting in a glass display case in the center of the museum.
"While the Pokemon themselves don't seem to be out of the ordinary, I found out that these three were supposedly the ones who attacked Team Plasma some time ago when they were doing this security job," Jessie continues.
"Where did you learn about that?" James asks, turning toward her with an eyebrow raised.
"From a newspaper article regarding the incident. Here, take a look," Jessie responds, pulling out her mobile device and opening a web link to the news story. Both James and Meowth learn over to look.
[Team Plasma Members Horribly Mauled By Torchic, Gurdurr, Pikachu]
"You don't really believe any of that, do you?" James says to Jessie.
"Of course I do! Look, I don't care what anyone says, something bad is going to happen to us if we don't stay vigilant and cautious this time around!" Jessie responds irritably. "And furthermore, these incidents took place before 6:00 am. If we can survive until then, then we can leave out of here alive."
"Look, I'm sure we'll be okay. This office has reinforced doors and vents, there's nothing to worry about," James reassures her.
"Uh…fellas?" Meowth says with unease, pointing toward a small indicator on their security software.
[Passage Controls: 0% Battery Life]
"What?! How can that be possible?! The battery controlling the doors and vents are already dead? But we haven't been messing with them at all!" Jessie proclaims.
"Call me crazy, but I think keeping all of the entryways shut for the past two ours is the reason why the battery drained so quickly," Meowth suggests.
"Oh great! Now we have no protection for when those animatronics come and assault us!" Jessies responds, starting to get more nervous at the thought.
"Okay, okay, how about this. I will go out and walk around the vicinity and prove that these animatronics won't spring to life and attack me. Will that calm your nerves, Jessie?" James offers her, not sounding too heroic himself.
Jessie reluctantly nods.
"Okay, but be careful. It's dangerous to go alone, take this," Jessie adds, giving James a few Pokeballs to use for defense.
Armed and ready to put these silly rumors to rest, James exits the security office and heads down the hall. In the meantime, both Jessie and Meowth turn their attention to the video feed of the hallway. They observe James carefully making his way down the dimly lit hall, stopping to inspect the large Gurdurr animatronic that stood idle at the hallway's intersection. After finding nothing of interest, he continues down the hall.
Suddenly, Gurdurr began twitching, and then soon turned its head toward his direction. Both Jessie and Meowth's jaws hit the desk at what they were witnessing. Gurdurr then steps off of his platform and began jogging down the hall after James.
"See?! I knew it! Those things really did go after Team Plasma, and now they're going to destroy us!" Jessie yelps in hysteria.
"We gotta warn James! Isn't there an intercom system we could use to call out to him?!" Meowth suggests, hastily looking about the room for a microphone.
"I don't think there is, and stupid James, he left his phone here!" Jessie responds.
With both Gurdurr and James out of sight from the hallway, Meowth began flipping through feed after feed trying to find where they both were currently located.
But it was too late.
Near the rear of the building, they watch in horror as James is jumped by Gurdurr from behind, and shoved into its open mouth until nothing was left of James except his feet dangling out of its mouth. The animatronic then ceases to move from that point.
4:00 am
Two hours has progressed since the loss of their partner James. The two Team Rocket members that remained clutched each other tightly, frantically keeping tabs on the two potentially problematic animatronic that have yet to spring to life. As a precaution, they had barricaded the office entrance since the security gates were no longer functioning due to lack of battery power.
Then, the next animatronic began to act suspiciously.
"Jessie, look!" Meowth blurts out, showing the video feed of Torchic leaving its spot and entering into the open air ducts it sat next too.
"Nooo! I bet its coming straight for us here in the office! How are we going to stop it?!" Jessie responds tensely.
"Well I'm not letting that stupid bird take us both out. I'm going into the air ducts to take it out myself!" Meowth vows, hopping down from his chair and proceeding toward the grate where the ducts connected.
"Meowth, don't!" Jessie shrieks, but Meowth was already gone.
Nabbing the security screen, Jessie began flipping through the video feeds until she found Meowth navigating through the maze-like ducts. As he neared the duct's main intersection, Jessie sees the Torchic waiting around the corner for Meowth.
FWOOOMF!
…And to her horror, witnesses Meowth be barbecued alive by the Torchic's Flame Burst attack. How and why a supposed animatronic Pokemon was equipped with realistic attack attributes was beyond her. But more pressing was the fact that, upon flipping to the feed where the remaining Pikachu animatronic stood, was already out of its glass case and nowhere to be seen in the area.
5:59 am
Jessie had spent the remainder of the night hiding under her desk, praying for 6:00 am to come. You would think that not hearing or seeing any further movements of the Pikachu around the building would calm her nerves, but the fact of being alone and in total silence made it all the more nerve-wracking.
Then it finally happened…
DIIIING! DIIIING!
6:00 am had arrived.
Jessie looks up from being in the fetal position as a wide smile of relief and excitement began to flow about her.
"I…I did it…! I survived! I wasn't killed by those murderous Pokemon! Heheheh...hahahaha!" Jessie began saying to no one in particular, almost laughing to the point of insanity.
Hopping to her feet, she grabs her things and approaches the door, removing the objects used as a barricade. She then stops and pulls out her phone, remembering an important task she needed to take care of.
"I need to contact the boss and tell him what happened to James and Meowth, she says," her phone in hand as she turns it on.
Her eyes immediately fixate on the clock on her phone's main screen.
(5:00 am)
She had forgotten, it was Daylight Savings. The clocks were digitally updated to be set back one hour that night, but were not reflected on the outdated clocks mounted on the office wall.
Jessie turns white as a ghost when she hears the pitter-patter of little feet approaching the office from the hall. She turns around…
RAAAAAWWWRRRRRRR!
…as Jessie is jumped by the ear-piercing screech of the small Pikachu animatronic, its eyes sunken in and razor sharp teeth exposed as it began mutilating Jessie without mercy.
That does it for this saga! A new set of themed misadventures await for our trio!
Please review and stay tuned to the next!
