Our exploits take us to a war-stricken land in:
#47: Death By Final Fantasy VI Intro
Finding themselves in yet another unfamiliar territory far from where they began, our unfortunate heroes trudge through the cold blizzard-like terrain in giant mechas known as Magitek Armors.
"Hey James, there's the town..." says Jessie to James, who shared the mech with Meowth.
Team Rocket saw themselves overlooking the edge of a tall icy cliffside. Along with them was a green-haired young women in her own mecha, who went by the name of Terra. She didn't speak much, as she was being mind controlled via a device on her head. Their orders from their new temporary boss, Emperor Gestahl, was to seek out and retrieve an ancient Esper within the mining town of Narshe and were ordered to take Terra with them as backup.
"It's hard to believe an Esper has been found intact in there 1000 years after the War of the Magi..." James's voice trails off.
"What's an Esper anyways?" Meowth asks.
"Some sort of ancient creature who harnesses magic powers," Jessie responds. "At least, that's what mission briefing had stated."
"So in other words...a very powerful Legendary Pokemon-like creature?" Meowth says.
"I guess so. If this mission is a success we can make use of it so that we can defend ourselves from future dangers. Think it's still alive?" James questions.
"Probably, judging by the urgency of our orders," Jessie responds. "And this woman, this...sorcerer. Why's she here? I heard she fried 50 of the Emperor's Magitek armored soldiers in less than 3 minutes!"
"Not to worry. The Slave Crown on her head robs her of all conscious thought. She'll follow our orders." James responds, turning to Terra who stares blankly back at them.
"Very well. Alright, we'll approach from the east," Jessie orders. "Move out!"
When they had reached the city gates, they saw that the coal town was very quiet. No signs of life around as of yet.
"It's too quiet around here, so let's put her on point. No sense taking any risks." James suggests.
As all three mechas step deeper into the town they were approached by a pair of charging guards with an attack dog.
"Machine-riding, self-important swine! Take this!" the town guards yell in unison as they charge toward Team Rocket and Terra.
The girl, Terra, wastes no time in pressing a ton of buttons an pulling levers on her mecha, unleashing a flurry of lasers, missiles, and biological weapons upon the town's resistance. Team Rocket had their mouths gaped open in shock to see such destruction come from just a single person, watching Terra mow down continuous waves of people as they approach the mountains in the distance.
"Glad she's on our side..." Meowth whispers under his breath.
Finally, the team reaches their goal: Narshe's Mines.
"According to our source, the frozen Esper was found in a new mine shaft. Hopefully its this one, its getting pretty cold out here..." James says, as he and the others trudge inside and through the narrow and winding cavern hallways, leading to a boarded-up gate at its rear.
"I'll handle this, everyone stand back!" Jessie proclaims. She charges ahead of the group, slamming right through the gate with the loud clatter of broken wood boards hitting the walls and the floor.
The group continues down further into the shaft, stopping when they come upon a large, frozen block of ice. Contained in it was a massive bird-like creature, its wings spread and its yellow beak open as if in the middle of a screech. It had rainbow wings and sharp talons.
"This is the frozen Esper!" Jessie says excitedly. "Now we can haul this thing back and get paid!"
Suddenly, Terra approaches the creature.
"Hey, what's the matter?!" James says to her in suspicion. "Do you know something we don't?"
Terra did not reply, seemingly ignoring him.
"Impossible." Jessie responds. "She's just a..." she starts, before she and James's mechas started to glow a bright blue.
"Where's that light coming from? IIIEEEEEE!" James yells, and suddenly, his body and Meowth's was vaporized into nothing along with the mecha.
Jessie widens her eyes and felt like her own body was about explode from massive pressure.
"Hey, James...where are you? What...What's happening to us?!" Jessie cries out.
Seconds later, Jessie evaporates into nothingness as well.
Only Terra remained with the Esper, and all recollection of Team Rocket accompanying her in this expedition had been lost within the mines.
Well, at least Team Rocket is lucky to not have lived to meet Kefka. Please review and stay tuned to the next!
