~Everything's Not What It Seems~

Alex and Justin are siblings sent to Hogwarts to learn about magic just like their father. There they meet new friends, fall in love, and find out that truly everything is not what it seems.

Alex could hardly believe that almost a year of her being at Hogwarts had passed and the last day of the school year had arrived. All that was left was the dinner to announce the house cup and the next day they would be heading back to New York. Alex was outside the great hall, waiting to see Cedric before dinner. He was running late, so Alex had nothing to do but be in her thoughts.

She couldn't help but think about the year she had at Hogwarts. A lot had changed since the day they found out about their father being alive. After the day she woke up in the hospital, Alex and Justin arranged a call with Jerry and Theresa to tell them that they knew the truth about their father. While Alex understood the reason for their lies, partly as a result of her conversation with Lupin, Justin was not as understanding. The conversation ended without any resolve, though Alex promised them she would continue to send letters every few weeks as they had done that whole year.

Justin and Alex were able to eventually have a real conversation with Max about their real parents and who they were. Max made it clear that he wasn't mad and still considered them his siblings. Alex still wasn't entirely sure if Max understand the whole situation with their dad not being a murderer. He seemed to ask Justin and Alex a few too many questions about how to be a criminal.

While Alex was thrilled to know her father was alive, she was disappointed that they hadn't heard from him since he left. They had received a few gifts by owl, which they knew had come from him, but no messages and no way to communicate. Justin kept assuring Alex that their dad was probably trying to find his mirror so he could talk to them through mom's mirror. Though she knew he was right, it still stung that she didn't get to say goodbye to their dad. It made the wait to see their dad again so much harder for her.

One new development in Alex's life that she was happy for was her godfather. Lupin did owl her and Justin regularly to check in with how they were doing in school and to ask Alex about her adventures with Fred and George. He'd occasionally give them updates on their dad, which relieved both Alex and Justin. While it wasn't much, it assure them that he was safe and alive. While Alex would tell him about her life in New York and what was happening in Hogwarts since he'd left, he would tell her about his life since he'd lost James and Sirius, his travels, and what he was doing since he left Hogwarts. Her favorite part of his letters was when he would recall a memory he had with her mother or father. The letters from Lupin were something that Alex had grown to look forward to.

While Alex wasn't always the biggest fan of school, she couldn't deny she was doing well. Although they no longer had Lupin there to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts, Professor McGonagall had taken over the class for the remainder of the year and was teaching them a lot of new and interesting spells. Alex could tell that Professor Snape wasn't pleased to not be chosen as the temporary replacement, though he would never admit it. And despite everything that happened at the Shrieking Shack, Alex was happy to find that she was still one of Professor Snape'a favorite students. With how things were going in her classes, Alex could proudly say that for once in her life, her grades were not a complete disappointment.

Things were finally starting to feel normal for Alex. Now that they knew that their father was the reason for all the caution, Alex decided to not give a damn anymore. She had been so cautious since she had joined Hogwarts to the point that she was barely enjoying her time there. Now that she knew the truth, Alex didn't care about staying conspicuous. Of course, she was not running around telling everyone that she was the daughter of Sirius Black, but she wasn't hiding in the shadow like before either. In recent weeks, her pranks with Fred and George had increased ten-fold and the three had often found themselves competing against each other to pull the best pranks. She was also spending more time with the other Gryffindors, in attempt to make more friends. More specifically, she was spending more time with Hermione, Ron and Harry. Everything that happened with Sirius had brought Justin and Alex closer to the three. As the summer break approached, they had all promised to keep in touch via owl. They had also already made plans to join the Weasleys and the Diggorys at the Quidditch World Cup at the end of the summer. Alex was especially excited for this because she would get to see Cedric and meet his family for the first time.

"Alex!" She turned around with a frown as her eyes scanned the area. They finally landed on Cedric, who was jogging towards Alex with a bouquet of purple flowers in hand. Alex couldn't help it, she smiled. He stopped before her, extending the flowers in her direction as he looked at her apologetically. "Sorry Alex. I got caught up when I ran into Professor Flitwick. I figured the occasion called for flowers since I made you wait so long."

Alex smiled, accepting the flowers he'd brought for her. She stood up on her toes, planting a quick kiss on his lips. "All is forgiven. Purple flowers are my favorite." She brought the flowers closer to her chest, letting the floral aroma wrap around her. "So... why did you want to meet with me before dinner?"

"Well, I was thinking, since we can't really go on a real date here at Hogwarts, I thought maybe I could ask you to officially be my date to the Quidditch World Cup." Cedric looked at Alex expectantly. She studied him, waiting to hear more but he stayed silent. She frowned at him as his eyes turned to one of slight panic. "What I meant was, maybe we could go off on our own for a romantic stroll of some sort. Maybe make a date out of the whole thing. Once we're in our seats watching the match, it's very likely my focus won't go astray from the match, meaning I may momentarily forget my beautiful girlfriend is there beside me." Alex frowned again. "I'm an idiot. Look, what I am trying to say is that we'll be there for two nights, so we'll have lots of opportunities to slip off on our own. I want to make sure I make time for us to be alone."

Hmmm, alone. That actually doesn't sound half bad. The Quidditch World Cup wasn't the most ideal date... but they could definitely make the best of it. She smirked as she looked at Cedric. "Okay." She nodded

"Really?"

She opened her mouth to respond again but was immediately lifted off the floor by Cedric who started spinning her around as he held her in his arms. She giggled as he cheered happily.

"Cedric, put me down! You're going to drop me!" She giggled as he slowed down. He gently brought her down, keeping his arms wrapped around her waist. They stared at eachother happily, smiles radiating on both their faces. He dipped his head, pressing his lips against hers for a kiss. She automatically wrapped her arms around his neck to keep him in place and deepen the kiss. She closed her eyes, memorizing the way his lips moved against hers, and the scent of his sexy, fresh cologne. She was going to miss him this summer.

Cedric quickly broke the kiss as the sound of footsteps came from behind him. He kept an arm around Alex's waist as he composed himself. Alex looked around him to see Ron and Harry approaching the great hall, both of them averting their eyes awkwardly. Alex turned her boyfriend around to face them, smiling at her friends as if they hadn't just witnessed a very-PDA moment between her and Cedric.

"Hey Ron! Hey Harry! You guys aren't in the great hall with everyone else?"

Ron shook his head as he looked at the couple. "No, we were just finishing up some last-minute packing. We started too late. But we should be getting inside now, and so should you two. Don't want to hold-up dinner!" Ron said quickly before grabbing Harry by the shoulder and pushing him towards the great hall. Harry walked off with him silently.

"We should get inside." Alex turned to Cedric, to find him trying to hold back a laugh. "What?"

"Since when do you do what you should do?" Cedric narrowed his eyes at her

She rolled her eyes at him as she linked an arm with his. "I'm hungry."

Alex took a seat beside Hermione, who was already seated beside Justin at the end of the Gryffindor table. Ron and Harry had taken the seats across from them. She noticed they were whispering amongst each other and had not seen Alex had joined them.

As she scanned the hall, she found that most of the seats were already occupied and even the Professors has taken their seats at the head table. Professor Dumbledore had taken his place at the podium and was scanning the great hall. His eyes fell on Alex and he gave her a nod before clearing his throat to get the attention of the other students.

"Another year completed at Hogwarts in another year of learning and adventures for all of you. We will be saying goodbye to a lot of old faces but soon will be joined by new faces which will grow to become old faces. I am very pleased with the patience of all of you this year, even with our security measures. Nonetheless, we enjoyed this year and I hope we all continue to enjoy our time here at Hogwarts. Before we start the last dinner tonight in the great hall I would like to congratulate the winner of this year's house cup, Gryffindor."

The Gryffindor table burst into a thunder of applause, Justin high-fived Ron and Harry from across the table while Alex looked over to the Hufflepuff table to see Max giving her a thumbs-up. She smiled in return before looking back at Professor Dumbledore. He was looking at their table, clapping happily as he waited for the hall to become quiet again.

"Yes, a good job to the Gryffindors for winning. Enjoy the rest of your day here and I hope to see you all soon again next year except for those who are graduating. For those individuals, I wish you good luck! Enjoy your dinner."

Everyone clapped as Professor Dumbledore stepped away from the podium to join the other professors. The food appeared on the tables as student began to fill up their plates, enjoying their last dinner at Hogwarts for the school year.

Alex followed Max and Justin through the train as they tried to locate an empty compartment for them to occupy for the ride back to London. She smiled as she watched her brothers struggle to carry their own carry-on bags as well as Alex's. They stopped when Justin finally found an empty compartment. He pulled the door open and signaled his siblings inside before beginning to load their bags in the overhead compartments.

Alex seated herself next to the window, frowning as she noticed her brothers had already pulled out activities to occupy themselves for the ride. Justin, a textbook and Max ,his video games. Great, not again. Alex folded her arms in front of her chest in a huff as she stared at the other students rushing towards the train. A few minutes passed of her people-watching before she heard the door to the compartment slide open. She turned and smiled excitedly as Cedric stepped inside, a look of relief on his face.

"Alex. I was worried I wouldn't find you." He took a seat beside her and pulled her in for a quick hug.

Alex pulled away as he took her hands in his own and placed them on his lap. "At least you found me. Where is your stuff?"

He frowned slightly. "It's actually in another compartment. You don't mind if I ride with my friends, do you? If you do mind I will come here."

Damnit. Alex frowned but sighed in defeat. "It's okay. I mean I do mind, but you can go be with your friends."

He looked into her eyes. "You're sure?"

"Yes, I'm sure." She nodded, forcing a smile. He released her hands and took her chin gently, pulling her face towards his lips. He kissed her for a short time before pulling away and standing up "Why'd you stop?" She pouted as she looked up at him.

He smiled before motioning towards her brothers with his eyes. She sighed again in defeat. She was just not gonna win today.

"Hope you have an amazing summer and I can barely wait to see you at the Quidditch World Cup." He gave her a playful smile before turning to her brothers. "Have a good summer Justin, Max."

Her brothers said their goodbyes, waving at Cedric as he exited the compartment. She turned to them to see Max had returned to his video game, but Justin was looking at her, his eyebrow raised as he smirked at her

"No comments! Shut-up!"

"I didn't say anything." Justin put his hand up in surrender. She rolled her eyes at him as he returned his focus to the textbook on his lap.

Alex frowned, realizing she was on her own again for the rest of the ride. She pulled her bag onto her lap, searching for her headphones, when the compartment door slid open. She looked up excitedly, hoping Cedric had changed his mind. She was only slightly disappointed to see it was Harry. Ron and Hermione were standing behind him.

"Do you mind if we join? Everywhere else is full." He looked at Alex expectantly.

"Sure, come on in. We have the space," Alex shrugged.

He nodded and grabbed his bags from the doorway. The three started loading their luggage in the overhead compartments. Harry was the first to finish and took the seat beside her. "Thanks Alex."

"No worries. I'm glad you came." Alex snickered when she noticed the slight blush on his face. He quickly turned towards Ron to ask him a question as the train began to move. Maybe the ride back wouldn't be too bad.
