"So they didn't even hear you out? They just assumed you were the one who killed Peter Pettigrew and caused the death of Mom and Harry's parents?" Justin asked in disbelief. "What kind of judicial system does the Wizarding world have?"

"Dad. I just don't understand one thing." Justin looked at his sister, to see her frowning as she looked at their dad. "Why did no one know about you and mom being married?"

Sirius sighed, running a hand through his hair. "You have to know, we hated keeping our marriage a secret. As you may know from your mother's journals, your mother and I were just friends at school, our relationship was kept entirely private for the first two years we were together. I didn't know your mother my first year at Hogwarts. She wasn't in any of my classes. Your mother was a Ravenclaw. She was quite secretive and kept to herself. No one seemed to want to get to know her because she had a very powerful, brother, a half brother actually. The first time I saw her was towards the end of my second year. She was in the courtyard reading and she looked up just as I looked at her and our eyes met. I felt something instantly but I was young, only thirteen so I thought nothing of it and moved on. A year passed and I rarely every saw her, didn't really think of her either, that was until the first day of our fourth year." Sirius paused, smiling as he thought about that day.

"I was running late for the train so by the time I arrived, everything had filled up. I couldn't find Remus or James anywhere and was exhausted as it was. I came upon a compartment that was occupied by one person alone, your mother. I asked if I could join her, and she was surprised but she allowed it. I began to talk to her, and while she was closed off at first, as time went by she opened up more and I got to know her. By the end of the train ride we were teasing each other like old friends. When we arrived at Hogwarts, I asked her if she would like to meet up again to chat. She agreed, but only under the conditions that we met secretly. I agreed to her condition and so began our secret meetings. By Halloween we started seeing each other and by Christmas, I new I was madly in love with her."

"That's so romantic! Secret love is so romantic!" Alex gushed.

"That it was. It was that Christmas that I gave your mother the mirror you are using to talk to me. I confessed my love for her during one of our late night mirror conversations. We continued our relationship, in secret of course, until our fifth year. In our fifth year we decided it would be best we tell her brother about our relationship. When we told him, he wasn't surprised. He told us he had noticed how friendly we had become in the past year and had figured we had been secretly dating for some time. Guess we were not as conspicuous as we thought." Sirius laughed.

"With her brother's approval out of the way, I was hoping to introduce Arianna to my own friends. James had gotten quite smitten with Lily so she was spending a lot more time with the Marauders, and I wanted the same for Arianna. She didn't have many of her own friends and I wanted her to feel welcome by my friends truly when I told them about our relationship. I introduced your mother as my girlfriend to Lily first. We begged her not to tell anyone else, which she obliged for the time being. They became fast friends, and in no time the best of friends. And because of this Arianna started spending more time with the Marauders. By the end of our sixth year, she and Lily were practically honorary Marauders. We continued to date in secret though. Your mother didn't like the attention she already got due to her brother, and didn't want to worsen it by dating a Black. I didn't complain, I loved your mother and would wait forever if I had to. By the end of our seventh year, we still hadn't told anyone besides Lily about our relationship. I knew I wanted to marry your mother when we left Hogwarts, so with her brother's permission, I proposed and she said yes."

"So you and mom dated for over three years and no one knew?" Justin asked in disbelief.

Sirius nodded. "Yes, no one but Lily and your uncle. After your mother said yes, we told Lily about our engagement. She was thrilled but advised us to tell Remus, James and Peter. I told James and Remus first. We went to Hogsmeade for Butterbeer a few days after your mother said yes and I couldn't keep it to myself any longer. They were angry at first that we had hidden our relationship from them for so long, but were thrilled. Apparently they had been secretly plotting to get us married for months so they wouldn't have to deal with another man joining their friend circle if Arianna started dating." Sirius laughed.

"We were planning to reveal our intention to get married and have a grand wedding, but that's when we found out about the prophecy and how our children were involved. We decided it wouldn't be safe if anyone knew of our marriage, so we married secretly. James, Remus, Peter, Lily, and Arianna's brothers were the only ones in attendance."

"What about Professor Dumbledore?" Alex asked, looking at her dad in confusion. "Lupin told me he was at your wedding too."

"I didn't know Remus had told you about that." Sirius looked at them in surprise. "I suppose you'd find out sooner or later..."

"Find our what?" Justin asked.

"Albus Dumbledore is your mother's older half-brother."

Alex burst into laughter beside Justin. Justin and Sirius both stared at her strangely. "Good one dad. Dumbledore is our uncle?" Alex continued to laugh, wiping the tears from her eyes.

"I'm not kidding Alex. He's actually your uncle."

"But mom's last name was Silvestre!" Alex almost yelled.

"Yes, Silvestre was her mother's Maiden name. Arianna hated the attention that came with the last name 'Dumbledore' so she used the last name 'Silvestre' instead. She even dyed her blonde hair brown so that she didn't look so much like a Dumbledore. Your mother loved her family but she hated the attention it attracted."

"Wait… if we had uncles, then why were we sent to live with your cousin?"

"New York was safer and farther away. Albus knew that if he raised you two, you'd be targeted by his own enemies. He didn't want anyone to know you two were Arianna's children as much as I didn't."

"That makes sense I guess. But wow, we're related to one of the strongest wizards in the world." Alex looked a little dazed as she thought about this.

"For now I want you two to keep this to yourselves. Don't go off and tell your friends." Sirius gave them both warning looks.

"But why?" Alex complained. "Why be related to such a cool wizard if you can't even brag about it!"

"I am not ready for you two to be in the spotlight. I cannot lose my only family. Harry is already at so much risk and I can't let it be the same for you two. You three are important, as long as you can keep your identity hidden and stick by Harry's side, you all will be safe."

Justin could tell Alex was already thinking up a way to oppose their dad's request. Before she could say anything, Justin decided to answer on both their behalf. "Okay dad. We won't tell anyone."

"But-" Justin narrowed his eyes at his sister. She shot him a glare before turning back to their dad. "But I want to speak to Professor Dumbledore. If he is really our uncle, he deserves to at least know that we know it!"

Sirius sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Fine, you may speak to him in private, but no one else. Do not tell anyone, not even Harry."

Alex smiled, nodding happily. "Of course! We won't tell anyone... for now."

"Alex." Sirius looked at his daughter disapprovingly.

She only shrugged. "It's bound to come out to a few friends by accident. I won't promise to tell no one when I know I will eventually. I can only promise I won't tell anyone I don't trust."

Sirius sighed. "I can accept that."

"I didn't expect all this. Wow." Justin commented.

A yawn escaped from his sister, which she tried to hide with a cough. Justin looked at her in amusement.

"I think someone's tired. Maybe we can continue this another day?" Sirius smirked as he looked at his daughter.

"No, but I want to keep talking to you dad." Alex frowned

"Alex, it's getting late. We have all summer to talk. Go sleep. I need to have a chat with Remus tonight anyway."

"Fine. But next time you guys can't get started without me!" Alex shot a glare at her brother. Justin put his hands up in defense.

"Deal." Sirius smiled. "I love you both. Goodnight."

"Love you too dad! Goodnight!" Alex waved into the mirror. She turned to Justin and rolled her eyes. "Goodnight to you too Justin." Justin watched as his sister stood up and made her way out of his bedroom, he didn't return his attention to the mirror until he heard the door to Alex's bedroom close at the end of the hall.

"Take care of her. Make sure she doesn't get into too much trouble. Goodnight my son." Sirius waved into the mirror as his image began to fade.

"Goodnight dad." Justin smiled to himself.

Alex laid in her bed, the exhaustion in her body apparent while her brain was in overdrive. She was still trying to process everything their father had told them. And more importantly, process the fact that their uncle was the Albus Dumbledore. Alex smirked, as she considered the limits she could test in the coming school year. Where to begin? Her scheming was momentarily interrupted by a knock on her door. Alex sat up as the door opened and Max appeared in the doorway.

"What's up Maximan?" Alex gave him a playful grin as he walked over to her bed and plopped down beside her.

"Nothing much, just wanted to see what you were up to. I just finished writing a letter to this girl from school and now I have nothing to do." Alex look at him excitedly when he said this. She stared at him expectantly, waiting to hear more but he said nothing as he stared back at her in confusions. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

Alex sighed, shaking her head at her little brother. He really is a special child. She'll just let him figure it out on his own. "Nevermind."

"I just saw you come out of Justin's room. Is he in a better mood?"

"I think so." Alex smiled. "We talked to our dad."

"I thought you said your dad is Sirius Black. When did he get out of jail?" Max stared at her in confusion.

"Max, you've known he's been out of jail a while." Alex looked at her brother expectantly, when he didn't respond she rolled her eyes and continued. "He told us about what happened the night our mom died. And about how they met. He also told us we have an uncle on our mom's side... well two uncles, but he only told us about one of them."

"That's cool…" Max looked at her with a forced grin. Alex could tell something was on his mind

"Max, you okay?"

"Are you guys... I mean, you guys aren't leaving now, right?" Oh.

Alex shook her head. "Of course not. I mean, I want for us to be with our dad one day, but it's not safe now. And even if I did go live with my dad, you do know that Justin and I will always be your brother and sister, right?" Alex looked at Max reassuringly. Max smiled and threw his arms around her shoulders.

"Thanks Alex."

"Don't mention it." She laughed, hugging him back.

"So… is your dad doing any scheming that requires henchmen by any chance?" Max looked at her curiously as he pulled away from their embrace. Alex shot a glare at him, causing him to stand up off her bed and back away with his arms up in defense. "You can get back to me later, after you talk to him. For now... I should go…"

Alex pointed towards the door. "Goodnight Max."
