~Everything's Not What It Seems~

Alex and Justin are siblings sent to Hogwarts to learn about magic just like their father. There they meet new friends, fall in love, and find out that truly everything is not what it seems.

Max was frustrated. It seemed like the new school year was nowhere close to what he had expected. Max had some hope that things would be different that year, now that he knew the truth about Alex and Justin. But ever since the three siblings had returned to Hogwarts, Max had no idea what was going on in the lives of his brother and sister. After hearing the news of his sister's sudden disappearance and subsequent reappearance, Max only wanted to see his sister. He had hoped to see Alex at breakfast that morning, but was disappointed to find her usual spot at the Hogwarts table empty. All he wanted to was a moment with his sister. Just to see how she was doing, for himself. None of her friends or even her boyfriend were any help with telling him of her whereabouts.

Max sighed to himself as he continued down the hall towards his next class. As he rounded another corner, his eyes fell on a familiar set of blond hair walking slowly ahead of him. Recognizing who it was, he quickly sped up his pace to catch up. "Mikayla!"

As he got closer to her, she turned around. Her eyes searched the hall in confusion until they landed on Max. She smiled as she fully turned herself to face him. "Oh, why hello Max."

"Hey! I barely see you these days! I'm glad I caught you. How have you been?" He smiled at her as he stopped in front of her. Even though he'd only known her a few days, he'd missed her energetic smiles. She'd barely glanced in his direction the past few days.

"I've been good. I've just busy been getting settled in." She shrugged, her eyes going to the floor. "Where's your girlfriend?"

Max stared at her in confusion. Girlfriend? Since when did he have a girlfriend? "Mikayla… last time I checked, I didn't have a girlfriend."

Her head shot up and she made eye contact with him again. "You don't?"

"No… none that I know of." He scratched his head and tried to think. He was pretty sure that if he was dating someone, he would remember.

"Oh..." Mikayla stared at him dumbly, a small smile forming on her lips. She tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear as her eyes met his. "Well, that's good information to know. Anyway, I need to head over to the library to pick up some books. Do you maybe want to join Luna and I in the courtyard after lunch?"

"Hell yeah! Luna promised to tell me more stories about the Nargles!" Max replied excitedly. "And, well... it would be cool to hang out with you too." He smiled at her sincerely.

"Great. Then I will see you later." She smiled warmly in response.

"Definitely." Max nodded as she turned and walked down the hall. Maybe this year wasn't going to be too bad...

Finally, relaxation. No one was in the common room since it was sunny enough to be outside, which is where everyone chose to be. There was no homework to worry about since classes were canceled on Friday. And of course, Alex was no longer angry with him. Life was... mostly good… He tried to forget about the first challenge of the Triwzard Tournament, which was scheduled for the next day. And the interviews... Tomorrow was going to be interesting.

"You nervous?" Justin looked up as Ginny approached him and situated herself in the vacant seat beside him on the sofa.

"Come here." He opened his arms to her so she could snuggle into his chest. He wound his arms tightly around her, letting his body relax.

"I worry for you. Tomorrow is a big day."

"I know, but I'll get through it without a scratch. For you and for Alex too."

Ginny tilted her head up so she could look at him from their embrace. "I know you'll do great Justin. Just don't hurt yourself too much. The others champions are more advanced with magic than you and Harry are. You both are at a bit of a disadvantage."

"I know, but I'm sure we'll think up something." He smiled at her before planting a light kiss on her forehead.

"Oh, I almost forgot the real reason I came here to see you. Hagrid is looking for you and Harry. He said that he wanted to see you two at his hut after curfew... and said to bring Harry's invisibility cloak." Ginny pulled away from him, giving him a apologetic look.

"It's okay." Justin shrugged. "Did he happen to mention what he needed us for?"

"I think he mentioned the Triwizard Tournament?" She shrugged as they both stood up.

He quickly pecked her on the lips. "Then I had better get going. Thank you Ginny!"

"Good luck!" She waved at him as he headed towards the exit.

~~~~~
"Hagrid, what's this about?" Justin frowned at Hagrid as he handed Harry and him their third cup of tea.
"My apologies lads, I expected it sooner."
"Expected what?" Harry asked the questions before he could.
"Never mind, yer two come with me, it's the right time."
"Right time for what?" Justin stood up and looked at Hagrid in frustration.
They had enough to worry about with the first challenge only a few hours away. Why Hagrid thought sipping tea with him an hour after curfew would help, Justin didn't know. He just wanted to get this over with so he could get back into the castle before anyone noticed they were missing.
Hagrid shook his head and motioned for them to follow him. "Trust me Justin, yer won't regret this."
"I'm already regretting this." He mumbled under his breath. He looked at Harry who only shrugged in response before following Hagrid out of the hut. Why not? He already wasted an hours here anyway.
Justin and Harry followed Hagrid as he led them deep into the Forbidden Forest. Justin started to consider maybe they were going to be spider chow, recalling Ron once mentioning Hagrid's friendship with massive spiders that lived in these forests. He was relieved when they finally arrived near a clearing, no spiders in sight.
"This is why I brought yer two here. Look." He whispered as he turned and pointed towards the clearing.
Harry and Justin exchanged a look before moving forward to look at what they'd been brought to see. Justin gasped as his eyes fell on a large cage, occupied by a creature he recognized from his textbook. A creature he hoped to never see in person.
"Dragons?"
"That young man over there is Charlie, one of Ron's elder brothers." Hagrid said as he pointed to a redhead that looked like a matured version of the twins.
"I can't believe it. Dragons? They can't really expect us to face a dragon, can they?" Harry looked at Justin with worry.
"This is the Triwizard Tournament, yer lads can face anything." Hagrid said as he looked between them with a serious expression. "I've showed yer two enough, now get back to yer beds before yer get caught."
There was no way he was sleeping after learning of this news.
"Thanks Hagrid."
"Yes, thank you." He nodded. At least he had time to process this bit of information now so he didn't have a panic attack before the actual challenge.
"Don't mention it. I mean it, I could lose meh job."
"We won't." They nodded before following him back through the Forbidden Forest.
