"Alex, there you are! I was starting to think you disappeared again." Justin held up his egg in excitement as his sister approached. "You missed the party!"

"Something tells me that a party in the Gryffindor common rooms isn't something I'll be too upset I missed." Alex rolled her eyes before taking a seat on the couch beside Ron.

"Where were you anyway?" Hermione asked as she lifted her gaze from the book on her lap.

"Hiding away for some much needed time alone. Until Max showed up anyway. He and I spent the afternoon catching up."

"When did you leave the arena? Not even Professor Dumbledore realized you were gone." Justin asked.

"Right after Harry finished his challenge. Professor Snape knew I left. Dumbledore did end up leaving me under Snape's supervision through the whole thing. Thankfully he wasn't too crabby." Alex shrugged.

"What did you think of my finale Alex?" Justin smiled proudly. "I'd like to think it was quite impressive. Not as impressive as Harry of course, but still impressive. How many people can say they battled a dragon for sport?" Justin looked at his sister expectantly.

"Really good..." Alex responded slowly. "I don't think I could have been even close to as impressive as you were." She smiled at her brother. He smiled in response before turning to Hermione and Harry to discuss the eggs Harry and Justin both held in their laps.

"You bloody missed the whole thing, didn't you?" Ron whispered besides her.

"Shhhh. They don't need to know that." Alex narrowed her eyes at him.

"You know... I heard a rumor about you." Ron said hesitantly, keeping his voice low.

"Oh?" Alex looked at him curiously. "What did you hear?"

"Rumor has it, you were outside talking to Adam Good after the first challenge. People are starting to think you and Diggory are no longer together."

Alex frowned at Ron. "I had a run-in with Adam Good as I was leaving the arena. That's it."

"That's good. I heard Good has sort of a reputation. You best be avoiding him." Ron paused, staring at Alex hesitantly.

"What?"

"You think you could get me Krum and Good's autograph?"

Alex laughed. "That's really what you wanted all along, isn't it?"l That was really the first time I met him... but if I see him again, I'll try and get you an autograph...9! one condition."

Ron smiled. "Name it."

"I want something to hold over Percy so Fred, George and I can sneak out of the common rooms without worrying about our prefect informing Professor McGonagall. If I get anything from Fred and George, your brother will find out and snitch to your parents. But he would never be able to guess it came from you. I need something that Fred and George don't know about so Percy can't track it back to them."

Ron's smile dropped as he looked at Alex hesitantly. "That's not a fair trade."

"Take it or leave it." Alex smirked.

"Fine." Ron frowned. "I'll see what I can do. But you have to get me the autograph. Otherwise the deal is off." Ron extended his hand towards Alex, narrowing his eyes at her. Alex nodded, taking his extended hand happily.

"You got yourself a deal." She whispered back.

"And what exactly are you two whispering about?" Hermione asked, looking at the two suspiciously.

"Nothing." Alex and Ron said simultaneously. Alex shot a look at Ron.

"Alex, you better not be planning another prank. And dragging Ron into this one." Justin looked at his sister with a frown.

"Stop worrying. I would never involve a rookie in my pranking plans. Fred and George would never allow it anyway." Alex smiled at her brother.

"I'd be more concerned but I need to figure out this stupid egg. Opening it doesn't seem to be the right thing... we figured that out the hard way." Justin looked at the egg in his hand with a frown. "I wonder if the other champions have figured it out yet."

"Even if they have, it's not like they would help us." Harry commented.

"Cedric might. I gave him a heads up about the dragons." Justin responded before apologetically glancing towards his sister.

"Maybe you have to heat it up or something? Like you know... cook the egg." Alex suggested, quickly changing the subject. She wasn't quite ready to have her current dilemma with Cedric broadcasted across the Gryffindor common rooms. There were enough rumors going around about their relationship at that moment anyway.

"We better get to bed. It's getting late and we still have class tomorrow." Hermione said as she closed her book.

"I guess we'll figure this out another day." Justin said, staring at the egg with a frown. "Hopefully."

"Settle down students, settle down!" Professor McGonagall called out to the Gryffindors seated around her. It had been two weeks since the first challenge of the Triwizard Tournament. Each of the house heads were given the task of preparing their students for an upcoming event. As the students began to quiet down she motioned for Filch to join her by the record player. "The Yule Ball has been a tradition of the Triwizard Tournament since it's inception."

"A dance? That's the big announcement that I had to wake up early for." Alex complained at a low whisper to Fred and George. They were standing against the wall behind the other students. The room was divided with boys on one side and girls on the other, but Alex ignored the division, choosing to stand beside her two best friends.

"What kind of trouble can you make out we'll get into at this thing?" Fred whispered, winking at Alex. Alex turned her attention towards him as Professor McGonagall continued to speak.

"I wish. Snape said that he'd give me detention with Filch for the rest of the year if I attempted to pull any prank at this stupid tournament. I probably wouldn't care if the detention was with literally anyone else." Alex frowned. "The possibilities would have been endless."

"Interesting how he only barred you from causing trouble at any events related to the Triwizard tournament." George smirked. "The possibilities really are endless."

"Hmm, I didn't think about it that way."

"Mr. Weasley, will you join me please?"

The three quickly turned their heads as they watched an uncomfortable Ron stare up at their Professor. She stared at him expectantly before he stood up and made his way to the front of the class.

"Now put your hand on my waist."

Ron's eyes widened as George whistled beside Alex. Professor McGonagall grabbed his hand and placed it on her waist.

"Mr. Filch, will you please."

As the music started to play, Professor McGonagall led Ron around the room with her in a dance.

"This is brilliant." Fred snickered.

"You're never going to let him forget this, are you?" Alex smiled as she looked at the twins.

"Never."

"Alright students, get up and find yourself a partner." Professor McGonagall called out as she continued to lead Ron around the dance floor.

Alex watched in amusement as all the girls on the other end stood up and took a few steps forward towards the dance floor. They stood and stared at the boys expectantly, while most of the boys averted their gazes. Justin was the first to get up, walking to the other end to extend his hand towards Ginny before pulling her to the dance floor to join Ron and Professor McGonagall. Neville followed suit, pulling one of the Patel twins with him. Alex looked towards Harry, seeing him glancing back at her hesitantly. She looked away from him before their eyes could meet, turning her attention to the twins.

"So which one of you is volunteering to be my dance partner?"

"Someone is suddenly eager to get on the dance floor." Fred smirked at his brother.

"Do me this one favor." Alex lowered her voice. "I'm not trying to get partnered up with anyone else here."

"What about Harry?"

"Shut it. Especially not Harry." Alex glanced in Harry's direction, relieved to see him chatting with Sheamus.

"I'll do it." George offered, extending his hand towards her as he gave her a weird look.

Alex took his hand in relief as Fred stared at the two skeptically. She followed as he lead her onto the dance floor. George used his free hand to direct Alex's free hand onto his shoulder before placing his hand on her hip. As he began moving them on the dance floor gracefully, she stared at him in disbelief.

"What is this?"

"Dancing." George smirked.

"Why are you good at it?"

"Mum had Percy, Fred and me take a class a few summers ago." He shrugged. "Why are you evading Harry. Thought you two were mates?"

"Can't I want to dance with one of my best friends?" George stared at Alex blankly. "You! My best friends are you and Fred." Alex frowned at him.

"I know that... but doesn't explain why you won't dance with him. I guess I'll believe you this time." George responded in boredom. "You'll be needing the practice for the ball anyway."

"I don't plan to dance at the ball."

"As if you have a choice." George laughed. He paused when he saw the confused expression on her face. "You don't know, do you?

Alex shook her head. "Know what?"

George smirked. "This is going to be interesting."

"What am I missing?" She demanded.

"Champions and their dates lead this dance at the start of the ball." George smiled wider.

"Wait, you mean-"

He nodded.

Alex groaned. "Splendid."
