Description: This is another one-shot, written one night while I was listening to "Eyes Like Yours" by Shakira. Random idea, random fic.
Disclaimer: I neither own the song that inspired me to write this, nor do I own Inuyasha. Pity…the things I could do if I did! Muhahaha!
Summary: Time is running out fast…will they get there in time? One-shot, Inuyasha/Kagome.
Eyes Like Yours
Kagome braked sharply against the cold, hard mountain ground, desperately looking this way and that. A grey sky laughed down upon the panicking girl, pitying the bloodstains soaked into her clothes and hair.
And I have seen, darker than ebony…'Where is he?' she thought, scanning the region again as she began to run, the impossibility of her mission crushing the breath from her insides.
And now it seems that I without your eyes could never be…Kagome quickened pace, ignoring the shouts of Shippo, Sango and Miroku far behind her. Nothing else mattered; Inuyasha had to be found.
"Time is running out for him, girl." Naraku's voice echoed within the walls of her skull, tightening the vice around her heart. "If you ever want to see your precious half-breed again, I suggest you run. FAST!"
'Just hold on Inuyasha!' Kagome panted, tearing around crumbling corners with break-neck speed. 'Just hold on until I can find you!'
Looking for someone comparing to you…She no longer knew or cared where her feet were taking her, she simply ran, pulled by the Tetsusaiga's sheath that she was holding in a death grip.
A ship that sunk in the desert…Kagome stopped short at the edge of a rift, her heart tearing at her chest. She looked down at the leather sheath in her hands and closed her eyes.
'Take me to him!'Wind whipped around her body as she flew towards a target she prayed still had a heartbeat. She kept her eyes tightly shut, holding onto the pulsing sheath with all her strength. Miroku's cries of distress grew faint; she was close to him.
There is nothing that I wouldn't give…Kagome felt nothing but the icy wind, numbing her body, combined with the sickening feeling that she would be too late.
She opened her eyes just in time to see the ground flying towards her face and hear several of her ribs crack. She didn't care; she had found him.
'Inuyasha…'
The bleeding hanyou raised his head; his beautiful silver hair caked with dust and his own blood.
'Kagome…'
She threw herself at him, clinging to his broken body, blind to the pain in her own.
'You were gone…I thought I'd never see you again!'
'You almost didn't.' he said heavily, using what little strength he had left to wrap his arms around her, blinking wearily at the door to the cave he had almost been sealed in for all eternity. 'Naraku's seal was about to close.'
'Inuyasha, why are you saying this?' she sobbed, raising her eyes to meet his.
'Because even if I had been trapped here, I would have found a way back to you.'
Kagome froze, transfixed be the softness in his warm topaz eyes, the cries of their approaching friends falling on deaf ears.
Tearing down windows and doors, and I could not find eyes like yours.
