Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto or Danganronpa.
AN: Welcome back?
Man, it definitely feel like a decade has gone by since I last posted…..terrible joke, I know. But I'm sticking with it.
But welcome, welcome! To my first chapter of the new decade! We're going three months into the new year and we ain't dead yet. No nuclear fallout in sight! So that's good at least.
Once again, I'm not dead. I think it should be obvious by this point that I simply get bouts of laziness every now and then. I've basically been doing nothing for the past three months. Okay, not totally true. I have been trying to wrap my head around this paper I'm supposed to write. I just have no motivation for it since it's about art history. Never would have I imagined that something could make history boring. Once again, art proved me wrong!
Yeah, I'm no art fan. I was the weird kid in kindergarten who ate his crayons rather than color anything. Respect to all the artists out there, though.
Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah, new chapter. And the waifu wars. And the 1k favorite milestone.
Thanks for that. I really mean it. I've said it before, but I only started writing this because I thought Naruto interacting with the Danganronpa characters sounded fun. That, and I always thought the concepts in Naruto meshed well with those in Danganronpa.
The romance, though…..man, I've seen it all. Some people want a harem end, others want it single pairing. Some prefer Sonia, or Mikan, or Mahiru. Heck, there are even Chiaki supporters even though I haven't really done anything romantic between them yet. And I can already see someone being like, "did he say yet? So something is coming! YEEEESSSSS."
So funny.
Some even think there might be some "boy-boy" action…..yeah, I get some messages.
Can you imagine it? Naruto and Nekomaru…..okay, bad mental picture. My point is that I'm definitely going to disappoint at least one person when it comes to this.
I'm looking forward to that too!
But yeah, still not dead. Just lazing about. When I do decide to quit, you'll know.
For now, the show must go on! I present to you the first chapter of the decade!
Enjoy.
Chapter 39:
Announcement
Chisa stood outside the classroom, her face determined. She hugged her student roster close to her chest, almost as if she was using it to give herself moral support. Above her hung the sign 1-B.
This was the place.
She had been mentally preparing herself for this moment for a couple of weeks now, but she was still no less nervous than before. Not that she also wasn't excited of course! Because she was. Very much so. This was going to be her first step into something bigger. It wasn't just about her job as a teacher. This was going to change the whole school, no for the entire world! Surely this was where everything was going to begin anew.
This was where her and Munakata's dream would finally take shape!
At least, that was the hope in her heart.
All that said, Chisa was also very much looking forward to her start as a teacher, even if it was only going to be her cover during her stay at Hope's Peak Academy. She was thrilled at the idea of getting to meet the Ultimates of this generation. Sure, she was only a few years older than them, but she still felt like she could them help them in whatever struggles they were facing. That was her duty, as their senpai! And also their teacher!
That's why she was so excited! It might only be her cover and not her priority, but Chisa was still going to do her best.
But as happy as she was, Chisa also couldn't help but feel a bit confused. This was because, a couple of days ago, Munakata had called her out of the blue to tell her to be careful around the class she was going to be assigned to.
What did that mean? Excellent question!
Chisa didn't have a clue either!
She had asked Munakata to explain himself. What was she supposed to do with a warning like that? She needed more information. Annoyingly, he had only been vague with his answer, a rarity for him.
How vexing.
'Silly Kyosuke. He's always worrying about everything.'
She loved him, but that aspect of him could drive her crazy sometimes.
Chisa appreciated the gesture nonetheless. But again, she just wished she had more information to go off. Just what was she looking out for exactly? Hope's Peak Academy was changing, and for the worst, but these students had nothing to do with that. At least, she didn't think they did.
What was Munakata so worried about then? What could have put him on edge like that?
The only thing Chisa could think of was Tengan's visit last month. That had been the only noteworthy thing to have happened as of late. But that couldn't possibly be it, right? Sure, Tengan's true allegiance was a mystery, but he and Munakata were on good terms…...relatively speaking. Besides, how could the old man's visit correlate with the class she now in charge of?
Chisa was truly at a loss.
But enough about that! She could worry about Munakata's vague warning another time! Right now she had a bigger wall to conquer. Her first introduction to class 77-B! Chisa was positive that she was going to get along with them, but that didn't mean she could let her guard down.
Well, whether they liked it or not, Chisa was positive they were going to be the best of friends! Munakata had helped her put a special journal together. It continued all the relevant information they had on the Ultimates of class 1-B. They had more information on some of the students than others, but Chisa would make do with it. Even now, the little book rested within her pocket, acting as another comforting clutch for her. It made her feel like Munakata was standing right beside her, cheering her on.
Ha, what a funny image that was. Chisa knew Munakata would never do something like that. He wasn't the type to outwardly show his enthusiasm. Nevertheless, she knew he was still supporting her, and that was enough for her.
There was no way she was going to let him down. That was a promise!
With those thoughts firmly in her head, Chisa took a deep breath in before opening the door with vigor.
"Good morning!"
Hiyoko was having a grand old time as she poked Kazuichi and Teruteru with one of her pencils. The two boys were in their seats, but they were also passed out. Or well, more like knocked out. Their faces were stuck in what appeared to be expressions of horror. Well, Kazuichi's was.
Teruteru's face was more contorted into…..pleasure?
Hiyoko would rather not think about that and was just happy to pick on them like this. Still, she was curious.
"What the heck happened to them?"
Some of the others were curious as well. All they knew was that Naruto had shown up to the classroom, carrying both boys on his back like they were sack of potatoes. A blushing Mikan had been with him as well, which also made Hiyoko a bit suspicious. Nothing good ever came about when the perverted nurse was involved.
Speaking of the nurse.
"B-Be careful with them!" Mikan implored the dancer as she tried to stop Hiyoko from poking either boy. "They could be in critical condition!"
Critical condition?
"Oh please." Hiyoko let out a very crude snort, but it was warranted. "These two idiots run off their perversion. There's no way they could die so easily."
Mikan wanted to deny that, but she was still too embarrassed from getting caught sleeping in the same bed with Naruto again to put too much of a defense on the boys' behalf.
"And besides, you know why they're like this, don't you?" Hiyoko turned her attention to the nurse, which just made Mikan squeak as she tried to look for an escape. Unfortunately, there was none.
"Spill it. What did Big Bro do to them?"
And why? Naruto didn't resort to physical violence unless he had to, and Hiyoko wanted to know why.
"I do not think you have to go that far." Sonia tried to play the mediator here, as she could see that Mikan wasn't comfortable with Hiyoko's line of questioning. "You can just ask Naruto later, right?"
"But like, is it that big a deal?" Ibuki had to wonder. "They were probably being idiots again, and Naruto-chan assassinated them with one move! Like pow-chow!"
The Ultimate Musician tried to model one of Naruto's punches, but it only looked silly when she did it.
And also positively cute.
Sonia smiled a little. "I don't believe Naruto would be so violent…."
"Assassination move!?" Akane perked up at this. "Did that bastard come up with a new move and didn't tell me about it!? I bet he and old man Nidai have been training in secret again! Why those two…..!"
Mahiru rolled her eyes. "Don't be silly. Naruto still hasn't recovered from his injury, remember? I doubt Tsumiki-san would let him train in his condition."
Mikan nodded fervently at that, glad that they had moved on to a new topic…..sort of.
"Whatever." Huffing, Hiyoko returned to her seat as she looked over to the side of the classroom where Naruto, Byakuya, Fuyuhiko, and Nagito were. The four boys appeared to be in the middle of something, but Hiyoko couldn't hear them since they were talking among themselves.
How annoying.
Then there was Chiaki, who was wrapped in another one of her games while Nekomaru seemed to be dozing off. How very unlike him!
Peko looked to be keeping a careful ear to Naruto's conversation with the others, and Gundham was simply too preoccupied with his hamsters to take note of his surroundings.
Really, all things considered, this was just another typical morning for them.
"T'ch, you can't be serious." With the four boys, Fuyuhiko was scowling as he crossed his arms. "That guy still doesn't want to come out?"
Byakuya, with a hand on his glasses, looked down. He also seemed troubled. "I'm afraid not. He's been more open to Tsumiki, so there is progress. But it appears as though he's still not comfortable with the idea of coming to class."
"Then force him out." The yakuza heir smirked. "I say just smoke out the dorm. That'll make him wanna get some fresh air."
Naruto was afraid to ask if Fuyuhiko meant actual smoke or something far more dangerous, so he didn't dwell on it.
"That's no good. The school festival will start soon, and if he doesn't know his part….."
Honestly, Naruto was sort of in the same boat as Fuyuhiko. To him, going in and dragging Ryota out seemed like the best course of action.
Byakuya disagreed. "I said I would handle this. I know your methods are different from mine, Naruto, but still. I want you to trust me. It's….hard to describe, but I feel like I need to do this on my own."
So that's how he was gonna play it, huh.
Sighing, Naruto nodded. "Alright. You know him better than any of us, so I suppose that's only fair. It's gonna suck if he misses out on the festival, though. It's gonna be awesome!"
Nagito looked amused. "You say that, Uzumaki-kun, but it's not like we know what we're doing yet, correct?"
"Maybe, but Sonia told me that Japanese school festivals always have like events in them! Like what Ibuki did when we had the pet adoption, only every class has to do their own thing!"
That sounded like fun, right? At least he and Sonia thought so, since neither had participated in something like a school festival before.
"So it's that broad who's been filling your head with dumb ideas, huh." Fuyuhiko smirked a little. "You two spending more time together or what?"
Blushing, Naruto quickly looked away. "I don't know what you mean. We're just having our extra lessons like usual."
There was nothing special about that.
"So that's what you're calling them? I thought-"
"Shut up, Fuyuhiko, before I stab you with one of my kunai. And you know I always carry one with me."
The threat only made Fuyuhiko's smirk grow, while Byakuya and Nagito looked at the two with open curiosity.
"What are you talking about?" Byakuya asked, finding Naruto's reaction to be out of place.
Humming, Nagito said, "Is there something going on between Uzumaki-kun and Miss Sonia? Perhaps…."
"I-It's nothing!" Naruto resisted the urge to glare at the now laughing Fuyuhiko. "Fuyuhiko just says some dumb stuff sometimes. He's been hanging around Kazuichi too much."
Now that was a low blow.
"H'mph, whatever." Fuyuhiko decided to give Naruto one last parting shot. "Just make sure the nurse doesn't start feeling jealous."
Unfortunately for Fuyuhiko, his words went right over Naruto's head.
"Jealous? Who? Mikan? Why would she be jealous? What are you even talking about? That sort of comment still doesn't make sense. Now you're starting to sound like Kazuichi. You've definitely been hanging around him too much!"
Even Nagito and Byakuya had to shake their heads at the blond's response.
One day he would learn. Maybe.
But when he did, would hell freeze over?
Their conversation was cut short when the door to the classroom was suddenly opened, and an unfamiliar face peeked through.
"Good morning!"
"Good morning!" Right away, Sonia greeted the unfamiliar woman. It was just common courtesy, even if she didn't know who she was.
'Oh my, would you look at this.' Chisa was just barely able to hide her surprise as she walked over to the podium, closing the door behind her. 'It looks like everyone is already here.'
What an amazing surprise! While not looking forward to it, she had half-suspected to see more than half the class missing. It's just how it was, with the stupid rules Hope's Peak Academy chose to uphold. It had been that way with her class too, back in the day.
But seeing everyone here….it was already making Chisa feel excited all over again!
"What the hell?" It was Fuyuhiko who voiced his confusion first. "Who the fuck are you supposed to be?"
All the others sweatdropped at Fuyuhiko's bluntness. They were used to it, but they had sort of forgotten that he was that way with strangers too.
"Um, I think what he means is….who are you and why are you here?" Mahiru asked, being more pleasant with her line of questioning.
Never change, Mahiru.
Smiling, Chisa was happy to answer. "Starting today, I'm your new teacher, Yukizome Chisa. It's nice to meet you all!"
Wait, what? New teacher!?
"Well, well." Hiyoko snickered. "Looks like we got a new plaything here. Breaking her seems like it could be fun. Maybe we can even sell her organs for a nice price!"
If Teruteru wasn't still knocked out, he would have enjoyed hearing that.
"That's just morbid," Peko muttered, with Mikan silently agreeing.
"Just wait a second!" Naruto stepped in here, looking confused. "We already have a teacher. So why are you-?"
"But can you really call that drunk a teacher?" Hiyoko wondered, cutting him off.
Naruto would have pulled on her ponytail if he was close to her. How could she say something like that!? Naruto agreed with her, sure, but she didn't have to badmouth Koichi in front of a stranger. They could do that to his face!
"Yeah, that's right." Fuyuhiko looked annoyed. "Where the hell is that drunk? He's our homeroom teacher."
"Oh, I'll be taking over for him starting today." Chisa clasped her hands with a beaming smile. "He's currently vomiting and trying to recover from a terrible hangover in the headmaster's office."
Naruto deadpanned. Again? He regretted sticking up for the man now.
Sonia smiled. "I shall extol your virtues!"
Ibuki laughed. "Ibuki still has no idea what that means!"
"Sounds iffy to me." Nekomaru crossed his arms over his massive chest, having awoken from his nap when he heard the door opening. "Getting a new teacher like this. It's random, wouldn't you say."
Gundham was of the same mind. "H'mph, is the world trying to close in on me at last? There's some demonic power at work here. It is the only explanation!"
What the heck did that even mean!?
"It's nothing special really." Chisa was still smiling. "The school just feels like Kizakura-sensei's skills are better suited elsewhere."
Wasn't the man some kind of scout for the school? Naruto honestly didn't remember. He just knew Koichi was a funny drunk, if not a little irritating from time to time.
"That's why I am now your new homeroom teacher!" Technically, Chisa was the assistant homeroom teacher, but for all intents and purposes she was now the only homeroom teacher. She already knew she was going to be getting little help from Koichi, if any, and honestly that suited her just fine. It would her job a lot easier.
The sixteen Ultimates didn't really know what to make of this as they took their seats. They regarded their new teacher with some amount of suspicion, still trying to wrap their heads around this sudden development.
Well, Naruto already knew where his mind was. He didn't like this at all! Like Nekomaru had said, it just felt random. Why the heck would the headmaster approve of something like this?
'That guy is doing stuff on his own.'
It was annoying, but it was a good reminder that just because the headmaster had shared some information with him didn't automatically mean that they were the best of friends.
Maybe Naruto was getting ahead of himself here. Maybe there was no secret motive for this sudden change of teachers. Maybe it was just because Koichi sucked.
Just maybe….but Naruto still wasn't convinced. All that stuff with the school's secret project had made him start to question everything about the school, and this was no exception.
"This is a wonderful turnout!" Chisa exclaimed as she watched her new students take their seats with eagerness. "I can already tell that you have wonderful relationships!"
Erm…..thanks?
"We can get started right away! This is shaping out to be a day full of hope!"
Nagito had to laugh warmly at this. "Ahahaha, but of course, sensei. This classroom is always full of hope. It's so powerful you can't help but be blinded by it!"
Nagito, shut up right now!
The luckster's words were too weird even for Chisa it seemed, as the bright teacher went tongue-tied for a second or so. Thankfully, she recovered just as quickly.
"R-Right! Well, let's get class started!"
Hajime felt second-wave embarrassment as the new transfer student walked over to her desk. As luck would have it, she was sitting right next to him.
Curse his luck!
What was her name again? Hajime had already forgotten. He had been too busy gawking at the rest of her introduction to remember. And could you blame him? Just who said something like that!?
'Whatever. It's not my problem.'
That was Hajime's personal motto. There was no need to get involved in anything troublesome if he could help it. He already had his own problems to worry about. No need to get mixed up with someone like her. She was bound to only bring him more headaches, he was sure.
That was how the rest of homeroom was meant to go. With peace and quiet. And really, for the most part it did. However, just like with this morning, it didn't seem like things were going to stay that way as just before homeroom ended there was a sudden announcement through the intercom. Only this announcement wasn't like the usual ones they got.
"Hello, and good morning all. This is Murasame Sōshun, and I am Ultimate Student Council President."
Woah, what? The Ultimate Student Council President? What the heck was he doing addressing the Reserve Course? Sure, he was technically their student council president too, but as far as Hajime knew the guy had never bothered to speak to them before. And their teacher was even letting them hear out the announcement!
'Could this be…..'
What happened earlier today. Was there more to it?
As Hajime thought this, he noticed Sato squirming in her seat from the corner of his eyes.
"You probably weren't expecting to hear from me today, but as you were made aware earlier this morning, there is a special event coming up. Right before we depart for summer vacation, we will be hosting Hope's Peak Academy's very first summer festival. It is my sincere hope that both Reserve Course and Main Course students can come together to make this event worthwhile. For every one of us to have a smile and say that we had a good time. There will be more information handed out later in the week, so you'll know what to expect. In the meantime, I hope each class will start thinking about what they want to do for the festival."
Hajime was not surprised to see the class start to murmur among themselves. If he had anyone to turn to, he would probably be doing the same.
"Huh? What the heck is this?" The blonde transfer student scoffed as she tapped her desk impatiently with her finger. "Is the student council president trying to throw these losers a bone or something? Pathetic."
Oh yeah, Hajime was happy he had ignored her.
But the announcement wasn't finished yet.
"I'm sure many are wondering just what you will get out of participating in this event. It is by no means mandatory, after all. For that, we have decided to implement a special system, just for the festival. You will be learning more about this in the days to come as well. But to be blunt, you can almost think of it as a point system. You will soon learn just how you can earn these points, but it goes without saying that this can only be done through participating in the festival. It will be a school-wide battle royale!"
The whole school? Did that mean-!
"Indeed, both Reserve Course and Main Course students will be competing against each other. Only one class can come out on top. And the class that holds the most points by the end of the festival will receive a special prize. I do not say that lightly. It is a prize put together by the student council and headmaster. It is worth anyone's time."
Hajime had to admit: this was starting to sound interesting. Even the blonde girl was now paying close attention.
'This prize….'
What on earth could it be?
"That is all for now. More information will become available as the week progresses. I wish everyone good luck. But most of all, I wish everyone a happy time. Let's make this next month an interesting one. For all of our hopes!"
The intercom went silent after that, and Hajime half-expected everyone to start murmuring again or something like that. Instead, there was only silence. It wasn't an uncomfortable one, though. Hajime really couldn't put it into words, what this feeling was. But he was sharing in that feeling with the rest of his classmates.
He just knew that his heart was starting to beat fast in uncontrollable excitement.
Chisa's mouth was almost wide open in awe. She probably hadn't looked this dumbfounded since Juzo had decided to join Munakata's company after winning the World Championship. It wasn't a good look to share with her new students, but she couldn't help it!
What the heck was going on around here!? She hadn't heard about any of this!
From his seat, Naruto was smirking with his arms crossed. "That guy….."
It looked like it wasn't just the headmaster that had planned something in secret. Murasame was going all out too.
"Oh wow, incredible!" Sonia's eyes were sparkling, and her nostrils were flaring in what could only be described as child-like excitement. "I knew you and the student council president were planning something, but you did not tell me it was this, Naruto!"
Mahiru's face was full of surprise. "Actually, I don't think this was just Naruto's idea….."
Naruto nodded. "Mahiru is right. Even I'm surprised too. It was my idea to plan a school festival, but I was still trying to think of a way to get everyone to want to join in. We can't make it mandatory because of the school rules. Looks like the school prez was able to come up with something before I did."
The Uzumaki had to hand it to the guy. It was a good plan. It wasn't perfect of course, and it was a huge gamble. But it was also the best they could hope for.
Fuyuhiko chuckled. "That guy looks like a pussy, but at least now we know why he's the student council president."
He had to have balls too.
Mahiru rolled her eyes. "Language."
There were ladies present.
"Ahahahaha, it sounds interesting!" Nekomaru burst out of his seat, the electricity around his eyes flaring up along with his enthusiasm. "It's just like a sports tournament!"
"Or a game tournament." Chiaki almost swooned at the idea.
"Heh, the prize might even be food!" Akane had to share in with Chiaki and Nekomaru's enthusiasm.
Teruteru twirled his fingers together. "I feel like I've missed something here….."
He had just woke up, after all!
From the back of the room, Kazuichi wanted to say the same thing. But his head hurt too much for him to even try to speak right now. Just what had happened? The last thing he remembered was going to the nurse's office with Teruteru to check to see if Naruto was there. After all, he couldn't let the bastard have some alone time with Mikan. He would probably jump the nurse and have his way with her, and she would totally let him do it too!
But then…..after that, it was all blank.
Why couldn't he remember!?
Kazuichi's temporary amnesia aside, the rest of the Ultimates looked excited by what was coming up next. It was like another new adventure!
This left Chisa feeling like the outsider here as she stared at Naruto for a moment.
"You….this was your idea?"
"Huh?" Naruto was caught a bit off-guard by her question. He scratched his cheek as he said, "Not fully, no. Like I said, it was the prez who came up with the points thing. I don't know when he talked to the headmaster, but he sure works fast."
Naruto still didn't really get the whole "student council" thing, but even he was able to see that Sōshun was living up to his title.
A thought was slowly forming in the back of his Chisa's mind, but she still needed to be sure.
"You're working with the student council?"
"Something like that, yeah."
"Why?"
Why? Why what?
"I don't really get your question…" What was the big deal? Was there something wrong?
"Ah!" Catching herself, Chisa laughed, but it was clearly different from before. Everyone could tell it was forced. "Sorry about that! I didn't mean to startle you. I just didn't think the school would be doing something like this."
"H'mph, it's not the school," Byakuya corrected her. "It's us. The students. We're the ones who are deciding to host this event. Although I suppose you could argue that we are the school."
"Pfft-ahahaha! What's up with that, Byakuya-chan!" Ibuki had to laugh. "You basically agreed with sensei's point!"
Oh yeah….he had.
Funny.
"It definitely sounds interesting." Crossing her arms, Chisa closed her eyes as she gave the matter another thought. "There was never a school festival when I went here. I didn't expect to hear that the first day I came back."
Hold up, what?
"When you came here?" Mahiru's eyes widened. "You're our senpai!"
Smiling, Chisa threw up her hand into a peace sign. "Ehehe, indeed! I'm an alumni of Hope's Peak Academy! Nice to meet you! Again!"
"Hmm, that does make sense." Nagito cupped his chin in thought. "The school wouldn't trust anyone else with the symbols of hope."
"Oh jeez." Hiyoko groaned. "He's being all weird again. Can someone slap him? I can't reach him from over here."
"Ah, my apologies." As always, Nagito sounded very sincere. "I spoke out loud again, didn't I?"
"Just forget it." Naruto waved it off. "We have more important things to talk about!"
Fuyuhiko already had an idea about what those "important things" were. "You want us to talk about what we're gonna do for the festival, don't you?"
Even though it had just been announced...
"Yep! You heard the prez! The sooner the better! And every class is gonna be doing something, so that means our class has to be the best!"
"H'mph, don't get ahead of yourself, you fiend," Gundham said, his eyes closed. "It is highly unlikely that every class will decide to participate, even with the trap you and that mortal set up. Not everyone is as eager as you."
"That's Gundham-chan talk for 'our class is the best cause we're so close!'" Ibuki winked at the boy. "Ibuki's got you cover, Gundham-chan! She knows what you wanted to say, and we love you too!"
"You insolent fool! You don't know a thing! How dare you presume to know my thoughts? I should smite you where you stand!"
Aww, and he was blushing too.
"While Gundham has a point, we still can't be too careful. Besides, what's the harm?" Naruto said.
Peko smiled. "It does sound like it could be fun. I have never participated in a school event before."
"H'mph, whatever." Fuyuhiko wasn't going to argue against it.
"Ahem." It was here that Chisa made her presence known against as she cleared her throat to get their attention. "While I appreciate your enthusiasm, we still have a lot of work to do before that!"
They did?
Walking over to one of the windows, Chisa looked put off when she noticed all the dust that had gathered there. The rest of the classroom wasn't any better either. It was the one of the first thing she had noticed when she stepped inside.
"We need to get this classroom in top shape! It's a total mess!"
Ah. The teens looked at one another. They had never really paid too much attention to the classroom before. It wasn't like they spent much time in here anyhow, other than in the mornings and when they played games with Chiaki on that huge TV Kazuichi had put together.
"Cleaning?" Hiyoko almost threw herself on her desk in disgust. "That sounds boooooring!"
"Ugh, my head still hurts," Kazuichi complained. "I don't really wanna do something that tedious, you know? Why don't we just-eek!"
He almost wet himself when he found his desk suddenly being impaled by two small swords. What were those called again? Wait, no! More importantly, WHAT THE FUCK!?
The air around Chisa shifted as she shot Kazuichi a terrifying smile.
"Kindly do it, please."
She was saying please, but Kazuichi had a feeling he didn't have a choice in the matter!
Naruto and Peko had different reactions to Kazuichi, mainly that while Kazuichi was ready to go number two on his desk, the two were impressed with Chisa's quick movements. Right away Naruto saw that she was faster than Peko, although not by much. She did have Nekomaru and Akane beat, though.
What an interesting teacher!
"Alright, alright! I get it!" Kazuichi was near in tears as he tried to get away from the sharp weapons. "You don't have to threaten me!"
"Alright!" Feeling jovial again, Chisa turned to the rest of the class as she suddenly donned a cute apron over her business skirt. "Let's get started!"
As the former Ultimate Housekeeper, she was going to make sure this room was up to her standards.
It was almost as if her enthusiasm rubbed off on them, because the Ultimates started to feel pumped up too. And for cleaning too!
Oh well, no reason to refuse. Time to get to it.
What did they call this again? Spring cleaning? Or something.
Naruto was already used to cleaning his apartment back in the Leaf, so this wasn't a big deal for him. And now that he was actively looking, he was able to see just how dirty their classroom had become over the past two months.
"Mhmm, I can't wait for her to threaten me next~"
Sadly, it seemed like some of them were a little bit too excited.
Naruto sighed. They had split up into groups in order to get this done as quickly as possible. He was with Nagito and Teruteru, and as one could guess it was the latter that was causing problems. But what else was new.
"Teruteru, zip up your pants."
No one needed to see that.
"Ah, you're so shy, Uzumaki-kun~"
No, he wasn't.
Hmm…..maybe he should have punched the cook harder, then he would have stayed unconscious for the remainder of the day. What a missed opportunity.
"Ahahaha, I think she's a wonderful teacher," Nagito said, smiling. "We need to make sure this classroom is clean enough for you Ultimates."
Riiiiiight.
"I must say, this festival does sound very intriguing." Yay, Teruteru had zipped up his pants! "You should have told me you were planning something like this sooner, Uzumaki-kun! I do not enjoy being kept in the dark like this."
"Sorry, sorry."
"You don't sound sincere at all!"
Moving on!
"You guys must have some ideas, right? About what you want to do for the school festival."
Naruto was open to hearing any ideas he could get.
Teruteru hummed in thought. "Well, in middle school, all I used to do was try to peep into all the girl's changing rooms whenever they-"
"So you have any ideas, Nagito?"
"Ugh!" The Ultimate Cook shuddered in barely restrained pleasure. "Ignoring me like this. You're always so rough with me, Uzumaki-kun!"
Goddammit.
Ignoring the mess that was Teruteru, Nagito considered Naruto's question. But then he just laughed.
"I'm sorry to say, but I've never participated in a school festival before. No one really wanted my help, you see. So I'm not sure what we can do."
Jeez, how depressing.
"Well, try to think of something. I can't be the only one with good ideas around here!"
His ideas were the best, sure, but this was going to be a team effort.
"Oh, I have one!"
Oh god no. Not Teruteru!
"I don't really understand this point system, but I'm sure the student council president will just give us all the points we want if we host a swimsuit competition! And with all the beautiful angels we have in this class, we are bound to attract all the attention. What do you say!?"
Naruto deadpanned. "Yeah, just see if you can convince the girls. I dare you."
At this point, Naruto was convinced Teruteru was asking for an early death. There was no other possible explanation for his actions.
"Oh, Uzumaki-kun." Teruteru patted the blond on the back. "Don't you understand the kind of power you have? If you asked them, I'm sure they would do it! And then that prize is ours!"
Yep, a total idiot.
"Do you live in another reality, Teruteru? Is that it?"
As if he could ever convince any of the girls to do something like that. Pfft, how ludicrous.
"But Hanamura-kun isn't far off," Nagito said, catching their attention. "Tsumiki-san and Miss Sonia would agree right away. Mioda-san too, if I'm being honest. If only because she could use it to mess with you. Saionji-san would take a bit more convincing, but if you ask her enough times she is bound to say yes. Then you would just have to bribe Owari-san with food and she would do it. Then you would just have to be sincere with Pekoyama-san and Koizumi-san, and I'm sure they'd agree. Really, the only one who might turn you down is Nanami-san, and that's because the whole thing would be too much of a hassle for her. Probably. But if you ask her nice enough, she might do it. I think."
Naruto and Teruteru just stared at the luckster with wide eyes, which made Nagito confused.
"Hmm? Is something wrong?"
He didn't say anything weird again, did he? Ah, he was so embarrassed with himself!
Naruto could only shake his head.
"Nagito…you scare me sometimes."
Oh….was that a good thing? Nagito wasn't too sure, but Naruto didn't seem angry so he just smiled.
Well then, it was still a work in progress! But they were bound to come up with something good.
Probably.
"Huh, so that's what's going on." Yusuke took another look at the poster in his hands before tossing to the floor.
That had been quite an announcement just now. It was the first one Yusuke had heard since the year started. As far as he was aware, the student council wasn't supposed to be this active. He was sort of intrigued by this turn of events now, as much as he hated to admit it.
Just how had that idiot gotten in touch with the student council in the first place?
Jun either didn't care or didn't notice the littering of his lab as he was already hunched over his work station.
"Stupid blond. Messing with my stuff. If he touched anything, I swear I'll..."
The Ultimate Physicist was muttering all sorts of obscenities that just made Yusuke want to shake his head.
That stupid ninja had really gotten to the guy.
"What are you going to do?" Yusuke wanted to say he didn't know why he was asking something like that, but he again had to admit to being curious. Of course, he would never admit it out loud. That would be crazy.
"That guy is probably thinking of making you join."
"I have no interest in such petty squabbles." Jun scoffed at the idea of participating in a summer festival. He was far too busy for that! "The prize is most likely money, and I already have plenty of it for my research. I don't need anymore."
Jun wasn't driven for monetary reasons anyhow. He acknowledged that he did need money to fulfill his ambitions, and he would go out of his way to obtain the necessary amount. But that was it. He didn't care about being rich, and he probably never would.
"That guy doesn't make any sense. I have no idea what he's trying to accomplish by messing with me, but I won't give him that satisfaction!" Jun felt like punching something. "Maybe I should install some traps in here. Like a machine gun on the ceiling! That's bound to stop that idiot. Mhmm, yes. Not a bad idea."
Was Jun going down the mad scientist route now? That would be funny.
That being said, Yusuke had a feeling things wouldn't go the way Jun was hoping.
And thinking like that also annoyed the Ultimate Neurologist to no end.
"Ehehehe, so that was whiskers' plan! I see now. His text makes sense now. I see what he wants us to do."
"Ah."
"Come on, Yoi-chan! Look alive! This is where we show whiskers what we got! You too, Seiko-chan! We're gonna have to put our heads together to come out on top!"
"E-Eh?" Seiko didn't look comfortable with the idea, but since they were already in the chemistry lab there was no place for her to run away to. Though she would admit that was she interested in all of this, now that she knew Naruto was behind it.
"N-Naruto-san planned this?"
"Basically." Ruruka pouted. "He wouldn't explain anything to me when I asked him, though. Just that he wanted us to include this one guy in our class."
Seiko wouldn't know anything about that. Other than Ruruka and Izayoi, she didn't know anyone in their class. She never attended any of her classes in the first place, and she doubted anyone there would be interested in being friends with her.
"Well, the details don't matter~" Ruruka winked. "We're going to make sure our class comes out on top of this. Even if we have to force everyone else to show up! That'll show whiskers."
Seiko wanted to point out how Naruto was just using Ruruka to stir up more excitement for the school festival, but when she saw how genuinely happy her childhood friend looked she decided not to say anything. Even if that meant more trouble for her in the end.
Seiko was too nice for her own good.
Izayoi was just happy to munch on Ruruka's sweets in silence.
How dewicious.
"Mhmm, yes that's it! This place is looking alive now!" Chisa couldn't contain her excitement this time as she happily slammed her hands down on the podium. Her eyes were sparkling just as much as Sonia's. "You guys did an excellent job!"
The classroom was finally in peak condition! Not a speck of dust to be seen, just the way Chisa liked it.
"Ahahaha, I did try my best!" Nagito said with his smile in place. "Cleaning is like one of the few things I'm actually good at."
"Aww, don't be so modest, Nagito-chan! Besides, with Ibuki here, it was bound to go perfect!"
"Ugh, shut up all of you." Hiyoko was practically sprawled on her desk, looking half-dead. "It isn't even noon yet, and I already feel tired."
Naruto poked her cheek, much to her embarrassment.
"You really should start more exercising you know. It might do you some good."
"S-Shut up!" She tried to smack his hand away, but the blond was too fast for her. His laugh just made her blush more.
"It's not like she did much of anything anyway!" Kazuichi complained. "I saw her! She just left all her work to Tsumiki!"
"You mean how you tried to pass your work over to Tanaka?" Fuyuhiko drawled out. "You two are practically the same. Lazy bastards."
"Come at me!"
"I'll fucking cut you."
"So much energy!" Sonia gushed.
"H'mph, I think more manual labor would do them some good," Byakuya said, smiling a little. "At least then they can truly act dead.
Sonia smiled too. "Yes, this is certainly youth!"
How!?
"Ibuki agrees!"
Of course she did.
"You guys are so loud, I swear," Mahiru sighed.
"Mhmm, this is good." Chisa was more than pleased by what she was seeing as she watched her new precious students interact. This place was a lot more warm than she would have imagined.
These kids…..they were so intriguing. So very different from how things had been for her.
And it just made her feel enlivened all over again.
"This is a nice pace, but it's no time to feel tired!" Chisa exclaimed. "Our day is only beginning! We have to make sure your hopes keep growing! Understand!"
"Our hopes?" Nagito had to instantly smile at this. "That sounds wonderful!"
Of course he would be the one to agree.
It was a typical first meeting, between teacher and students. Nothing spectacular had happened. But straight away, while there was some reservation still present, both sides felt a comforting feeling from the other.
You could say it was a match made in heaven. And just in time too, as there was another big event just right around the corner.
What was this summer going to bring?
Hopefully more hope, is what Nagito thought with another hope-filled smile.
You could say this is part two of last time's chapter. Only it came months later. But better late than never.
Once again, thank you for all the support. This story really has blown up. Makes me kinda nervous.
I guess it's perfect too, as Imma get pretty ambitious with this next section of the story. So many pay offs. I'm looking forward to it.
Hope it was enjoyable.
Till next time.
