Hey guys, it's time for chapter 2! Hopefully I can get the viewership for this story going but it's usually pretty low the first few chapters. We're going to start going through the events of the game now so be ready for it! Please review or comment to give me any tips you think of or if you like the story in general. Here's the chapter!
Ch. 2: The Journey Begins
(Luna's POV)
I left my room and turned right to go into the kitchen. Cal was rummaging through the pantry and trying to decide what he wanted to eat. When he saw me enter the kitchen, he showed me where all the food was, in case I got hungry.
"This is the pantry and Greez said we could have whatever we want. He told me he keeps it stocked up because one of his friends owes him a lot of money and has to pay for all his food. I don't know, something stupid like that."
I giggled and he moved to the fridge.
"Same thing with the fridge so we won't have to worry about going hungry any time soon."
I couldn't help but smile big at him.
"That's a relief. I always had to struggle with how much food I could get while still paying rent. It really sucked."
He gave me a look that said he went through the same thing as well and handed me a bag of white bread.
"Yeah, on Bracca, I swear they were raising the taxes just for me because they knew I couldn't do anything about it. They probably didn't but it felt that way. I'm going to make a sandwich. Do you want one?"
I was about to answer but the growling in my stomach told him everything he needed to know.
"I'll take that as a yes?"
"Yeah, I missed my lunch break earlier," I said with reddened cheeks. How embarrassing... I don't think Cal minded though. He doesn't seem like the type of person that would even care about dumb crap like that. I still felt embarrassed though.
"We have ham, turkey, and chicken. I think I'll go with ham. What about you?"
I thought for a second and shrugged my shoulders.
"I'll just get the same."
He nodded and started making the sandwiches for us. I sat in one of the chairs at the kitchen table and then looked at the cockpit. Greez was doing something with the steering wheel of the ship and Cere was tuning her radio settings to hear what the Empire was saying. Who knows, maybe we could find another Jedi that survived Order 66. I don't want to get my hopes up though.
I looked away from them at the sound of a plate hitting the table in front of me. How did he make that sandwich so fast!? I looked up at him and he looked pleased with himself.
"Wow, that was fast. Thanks, Cal," I said.
"No prob. And over the years I've gotten pretty good with making sandwiches for myself," he said with a chuckle. He sat in the chair next to mine and took a bite out of his sandwich. I smiled and did the same. The sandwich was good! Greez got good quality bread and meat.
"So, you holding up okay?" Cal asked me.
"Yeah, I think I am. I didn't really have any friends on Hosnian Prime and I got all my belongings when I came with you. I feel like this is a new chapter of my life. A brand-new start rather than just worrying about what will happen to me constantly. How are you holding up? I feel like you've asked me all these questions, but I haven't asked them back," I said with a small laugh. He shook his head.
"No, I'm basically on the same page as you. There's literally nothing else that I could do so I might as well embrace my life with Cere and Greez. Don't get me wrong, I don't trust them completely yet, but I also don't think they would do anything to hurt me."
"I wouldn't do anything to hurt you either," I said as a way to strengthen our trust as well. He laughed and finished off his sandwich.
"Luna, you don't look like you could hurt a fly, much less me."
My mouth fell open in shock but then I eventually ended up agreeing with him.
"Hey! Well...Yeah, you're probably right. But back when I did fight, I was actually pretty decent with my lightsaber. My fighting style tends to be more delicate and intricate. My master even taught me to use two lightsabers, but I prefer having just one in my hands."
He seemed interested in what I was saying as he looked at me. Is it sad that I don't find a lot of people that will actually listen to what I'm saying? They usually stare at me and then say a one-word reply before going on with their day. I guess I talk a lot? It used to hurt my feelings a lot but after a while I got used to it. Cal definitely had the potential to become a friend judging by how he's talked and interacted with me. He even bought me an umbrella! That was super considerate and cool of him.
"That sounds like a perfect style for you. I tend to be more aggressive in how I fight. Who was your master? Mine was Jaro Tapal."
I tried to think of who that was until the image of his master's face popped inside my mind. I've only met him once, but I remember him being abnormally tall.
"That style looks like it would fit you too and I think I met him one time at the Jedi Temple. My master was Aayla Secura."
"Oh okay. I never got to meet her but I know of her. She was pretty young to have a Padawan right?"
I never really thought about it, but yeah, she was pretty young to have a Padawan. Then again, so was Master Skywalker so it wasn't something that was unique to her.
"Yeah, I had only been with her for a couple of years but I still felt that deep connection with her...But I'll tell you about what happened that day later if that's okay. Too many bad memories," I said with a sigh. His eyes widened for a second and then he waved his hands in front of him.
"Y-Yeah! No worries! I know it's a sore subject. I have horrible memories from that day as well...How old are you by the way, Luna?" He asked.
"I just turned 18 a couple of weeks ago. I bet we're the same age," I said with a smile, glad that we changed the subject. I wasn't ready to talk to anyone about what happened to my master and I that day. I haven't spoken about it to anyone. Cal smirked back at me and crossed his arms.
"Yep, I'm 18 too! I turned it like a month ago. Happy late birthday!"
That made me laugh. It's been a long ass time since I've heard someone tell me that.
"Thanks, you too. I had a huge party and I got a ton of presents. It was the best day ever. And by that, I mean I had no party, no presents, and it was business as usual at the bar."
Cal gave me a look out of pity and huffed.
"That sucks so much. Mine was pretty much the same. We can have a party next year though! It'll just be the four of us unless we do find another Jedi...I've been thinking about it and where do you think we're going tomorrow? Cere never explained to me the location. She just said that it was a planet that would help us start the rebuilding of the Jedi Order," he said, trying to piece everything together like a puzzle.
"Not sure," I said, also oblivious to where we were actually headed, "I just hope it's not too dangerous."
Jedi were special in that our bodies could take a considerable amount of damage compared to the average person. That didn't stop me from being a little fearful from what was to come. I haven't fought in a long time so I'm not exactly sure how I'll do in a fight against another person or monster. If Cal is with me, I might have a better chance though.
"The way I see it, it can't be more dangerous than what we were dealing with. Being on the edge of our seat for so long, scared that we would get found out and executed. And now, there's two of us. Not to mention Greez and Cere. If we work together, then we can keep each other safe. Safe for the most part anyway," he explained to me. That made me feel a little better about it. I hummed in thought and finally finished my sandwich. I stared at the plate with a few crumbs on it before standing up and grabbing it and Cal's plates.
"I agree. Safety in numbers. And thanks again for the sandwich."
"Right and you're welcome," he replied, also standing up from his seat. I placed the dishes in the sink and saw that there was a scrub brush and dish soap. I might as well clean them real quick. I squirted the soap on the brush and washed both of our dishes. Cal dried them with a towel when I was done and put them back in the cabinet. Look at us, we're already acting like a team!
"You two might want to head for bed soon. Long day tomorrow."
We turned around and saw that Cere was walking towards us, Greez close behind. She was much taller than him so it's like he appeared out of nowhere.
"That's probably a good idea. It's been a long day. Also, we had a sandwich from the kitchen. I hope that was okay, Greez," I said. His dark eyes went big and he waved all of his arms in front of him.
"No, you eat whatever you want, kid! You and Cal are both at that age where you eat a huge amount of food! That's good for me because my buddy owes me a decade worth of food," he said with an evil chuckle straight after. I smiled a little bit and crossed my arms over my chest.
"Cal mentioned that...How did that happen?"
"Oh, you don't want to know. Let's just say what I did for him was so monumental that he owes me at least that much. My first rule of advice, kid, always bid higher than what you originally want so you can either get what you wanted or even more. And in my case, I wanted 10 years of food and asked for 20. But just you wait until I cook my famous 'Greez steaks.' Just ask Cere and the other kid here, they're amazing!" He bragged. I looked at them and Cal was rolling his eyes in amusement and Cere was shaking her head.
"I can't wait," I told him in the sweetest tone of voice. When I decide to be nice to someone, I can be the nicest person they've ever met. I like to think that's one of my unique Jedi skills.
Greez grinned and gave me a thumbs up before heading off to his room for bed. He had set the ship in autopilot so we would be traveling through hyperspace until we reached wherever we were going. Cere watched him go and then shook her head again.
"Be careful about giving him too much credit, Luna. It'll go to his head."
I giggled and moved some hair that had fallen in my eyes.
"Alright, I'll keep that in mind. Before I go to bed, I just wanted to tell you again that I'm so thankful for what you did for me today. I truly can't believe it," I said in all honesty. She touched my arm and then dropped it to her side again.
"Of course, Luna. Jedi should always stick together. I told Cal the same thing yesterday. We're better off with you two here."
I saw Cal smile and bring his hands together out of the side of my eye. I do that sometimes when I don't know what to do with my hands when talking to someone. But what Cere said caught me slightly off guard. She said Jedi like she was one as well. I blinked a couple of times and asked her my question.
"Are you a Jedi too? I thought it was just me and Cal."
She bit her lip and frowned.
"No, I cut myself off from the force years ago. I'll tell you and Cal why one day, but what's important is that you two are still alive. Try to get as much sleep as possible and I or Greez will wake you up when we reach where we're going. Goodnight," she said as she walked past us and disappeared in her room. It was just Cal and I now.
"I hope I didn't make her sad or anything," I said. He sighed and gave me a shrug.
"Nah, I don't think you did. She told me she's accepted the decision for quite some time."
He yawned and stretched his arms out from his body.
"Didn't realize how tired I was until she brought it up," he said in an exhausted tone.
"Me too," I told him as we walked past the kitchen and into the hallway where our rooms were. He opened his door and then stopped to look at me.
"I'll see you tomorrow, Luna. If you need anything or have a question don't be afraid to come tell me about it. I'm right across the hall."
I smiled and felt my cheeks heat up a bit.
"Thank you, Cal, I will. And...I'm glad you found me today. I know I keep thanking you guys but it's true!"
He chuckled and rubbed the back of his head, tufts of his red hair falling in his face.
"I'm glad too. And I know, I was doing the same all day yesterday. Just know that...Knowing that another Padawan survived and is here with me is such a huge relief. And when you agreed to come with me today, I can't even tell you how happy I was. I've felt alone for so long...I just know we'll become great friends, Luna," he said with a big smile. I almost felt like crying. It was such a sweet thing to say.
"I feel the same way, Cal. I already like you better than anyone on Hosnian Prime," I said with a laugh, "I'll talk to you tomorrow, okay?"
He nodded and gave a small wave before closing his bedroom door gently. I stood there for a second and then did the same with my own bedroom door. That was still weird to say...My bedroom. I kept my hand on the door for a few seconds before looking at the bed. I went to the bathroom real quick before slipping under the blankets and setting my head on the pillow.
First impressions?
Way softer and way more comfortable than what I had back at the group home. I turned to my side and watched the blue rays of light pass my window for a moment. I was nervous, but also kind of excited for what we were doing tomorrow.
I closed my eyes and quickly drifted off into sleep.
I opened my eyes at the sound of a quiet knock on the door. Looking at the window, we were still in hyperspace. I yawned and got out of bed, slowly making my way to the door. I opened it and Greez was standing there with his arms on his hips.
"Well, kid, you're a better morning person than Cal over there."
I looked behind him and saw Cal clutching his pillow with his face still drowned in it. I giggled and rubbed my eyes.
"Just barely. Are we about to be at that planet Cere told us about?"
"Yep, we'll arrive in about an hour so go ahead and get ready and eat something before we do."
I nodded and softly closed the door. Not soon after, I heard Greez yelling at Cal to get up again. All he got in return was a groan. I snorted and walked over to my bag. I should probably wear my most fight-ready outfit just in case. It consisted of a regular shirt, jacket, long pants and then boots that went over the pants on my legs. I took a shower and then put the outfit on. Again, it was so nice to not have to worry about someone else needing the shower or bathroom. For my hair, I put it in a ponytail aided with a loose braid. I looked over at my bag and focused on my lightsaber that was sticking out of it. This would be the first day in five years that I've used it. Not gonna lie, it's going to feel weird at first. I grabbed it and clipped it to my belt so it hung close to the side of my thigh. I stepped out of my room and Cal wasn't on his bed clutching his pillow anymore. He must have finally gotten up. I stepped into the kitchen and Cere seemed surprised for a second.
"Wow, you look ready."
I smiled and took a seat at the table.
"These were the only clothes I had that I could fight in. And that's if we're even fighting anything today," I told her.
"You might have to but I don't think it will be anything major where we're going. I know you and Cal will be fine. Oh, we're here," she said. I looked behind her and saw a planet covered in green in the cockpit windows. I looked back at Cere and asked her what the planet's name was.
"Bogano," she replied.
"Bogano?" Cal asked as he walked in from the back of the ship. He still looked really tired, but he appeared ready for the day. He wore a dark blue shirt with a brown-clothed jacket that only covered his chest and parts of his stomach but was attached in the back to his belt. He wore dark pants with brown boots. His lightsaber was clipped to his belt like mine was. He looked good! His clothes fit him well!
"Yes, this is a planet the Empire has no knowledge of. It's not on any database so they don't even know it exists," she told us as Greez landed the ship on the green, swampy planet. She motioned her head at the door hatch and we followed her outside on the planet.
It was swampy for sure.
The ground was either covered with large patches of grass or puddles...or both. There were a few small huts in the distance but it didn't look like anybody lived here. What really caught our eye was the tall tower in the distance. It almost looked like a volcano but you can tell that it was man-made.
"You said the Empire doesn't know this place exists? How do you know about it?" Cal asked the woman. She looked out at the tower and then at us.
"A Jedi I once knew discovered it before the Purge happened. See that vault over there? I believe that it contains the key to aid us in rebuilding the Jedi Order. There's no telling what it is though. I do know that it requires someone strong in the force to pass its test," she told us. Cal and I exchanged glances and finally discovered why she brought us here. She needed us since she cut herself off from the force.
"I know it seems like I just need you for that but we all have a common cause and a common enemy. I believe working together can really make a difference and form an unbreakable trust. Plus, there's someone here you should meet. May the force be with you!"
She walked back up the ramp and it closed behind her. I furrowed my eyebrows at the ship and then at Cal.
"Someone we should meet?"
"I don't even know..." he said. He crouched down and ripped a leaf off one of the plants. He stood back up and the corners of his mouth turned up, "…but we're not in Bracca or Hosnian Prime anymore."
"Yep," I agreed. I then crossed my arms, which I guess is a habit of mine, and smirked at the boy next to me.
"Also, you seem to be a pretty heavy sleeper, Cal," I laughed. He gave me a look but couldn't help but smile.
"Yeah, sorry, I swear I'm always tired. How was your night by the way? I hope you got some sleep," he said, looking slightly concerned. We began walking down the main path to the vault tower as we talked.
"I actually did. I thought maybe that I would have trouble since it was my first night from home but I fell asleep as soon as I got in bed. The bed's really comfortable too! Greez has really good taste in furniture," I said. Cal thought about it for a second and raised his hands.
"I assume so too. I have no idea about fashion or furniture or any of that stuff."
I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Are you sure? The outfit you're wearing fits you perfectly!"
His green eyes widened and his face went red.
"R-really? I've never really thought about it."
"Yes, Cal, you look good!" I said with a grin. Good, not in a flirting sense, but just in general. There's a difference! I could tell what I told him made him happy because his face lit up.
"Well, thanks! You look good too, Luna."
"Thank you, I try," I said with a smirk, brushing my hand through my hair. He rolled his eyes with a snort and we reached a spot of the path where it narrowed and the rest of the path dropped off into a never-ending abyss. Oh geez…I hate heights so much. I looked down into the abyss and it was just a cloudy ocean of nothing. We carefully kept ourselves on the path and saw a few animals jump out of a hole in the ground and then go back in. So there was life here. I hope they're friendly. We reached a spot that looked protected from anything that could potentially attack us and Cal stopped.
"You okay?" I asked him. He seemed nervous for some reason.
"Yeah…Is it okay if I meditate here for a minute?" He asked. The question caught me off guard. I just wasn't expecting him to ask me about something so simple.
"Sure, go ahead. But why here?"
"I've been meaning to tell you, and I told Cere the first day I met her, but ever since the Purge, I've been disconnected from the force. It's like…whenever I meditate I lose control and don't feel safe when I should. I think practicing would really help me," he told me. I looked at him sadly as he told me this. I felt so bad!
"Of course! I know that day really messed with our connection with the force. I think my connection is definitely weakened but I don't lose control when I meditate. Do you want me to watch you as you meditate?"
He nodded and started getting into the meditating position.
"Yeah, if you don't mind. I'd feel safer that way."
"Okay, I will. Take as much time as you need, Cal," I said sympathetically to him. He gave me a weak smile and closed his eyes. He took a deep breath and I could tell he was lost in the force now. I watched him for a minute and noticed the scars on his face again. They were faint but noticeable. He probably got those that day…Ugh, I know I went through the same thing but I feel so bad for people that had to go through the same thing. It looks like he went through it even worse than I did. I slowly put my hand on his shoulder and gave a comforting squeeze. He didn't flinch so he probably didn't even feel it. I sighed and looked up to see a small droid staring at the two of us.
"Huh?"
He made a beeping sound at me and I tried to remember binary, or the droid language. I wasn't proficient in the language but I'm able to understand most of what a droid says to me. The droid said his name was BD-1. What was he doing here?
"Cal, you okay?" I asked as he finally opened his eyes. He was breathing heavily, and I could tell he was extremely uncomfortable. He looked up at me.
"Y-Yeah. That time was...better...But I still need to work on some things."
"We'll work on it until it feels right for you. And while you were meditating, I met someone."
He gave me a puzzled look and then looked down in front of him. The droid lifted its head at us and beeped a set number of sounds again. He was just saying his name again for Cal.
"Hey...BD-1. I'm Cal," he said to the droid.
"Whoa, you speak binary really well, Cal," I commented. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't impressed.
"I had to talk to a lot of droids back in Bracca for my job. You don't speak it?"
"I do, but I'm not exactly fluent in it," I laughed. He gave me a small chuckle and gazed back at the droid. BD-1 beeped in a questioning tone, the lights on his head flickering brightly. He was so cute! I don't think I've ever said that about a droid before.
"Oh, this is Luna. We're looking for...A Jedi...We think," he said, still unsure about who we were looking for. Cere was mysterious with what she wanted us to do. It was almost like she just wanted us to find out rather than flat out telling us.
"Do you know anyone that would meet that criteria?" I asked it...him...I'm just going to refer to BD-1 as him. I'm sure he could be a she but he'll correct me if I'm wrong. He jumped up in excitement and began running to a small electronic console a few feet away from us. He inserted his scomp link into the device and a bridge extended out, allowing us to cross the gap that was previously there. Cal and I looked at each other in both surprise and happiness.
"Wow, thanks, BD-1!" I cooed at him. He jumped up again with joy and ran across the bridge to a wall of vines. We followed him and watched as he climbed up the wall like a monkey. Cal reached his hand out to the vines and clutched it tightly.
"It looks like we can climb it and it'll hold us. You okay with climbing?" He asked.
"Yeah, I should be. I have to remember my Jedi training again. I literally haven't done anything physically demanding in five years, so I'll probably be slower than you. Did you have to on Bracca?" I asked as we began climbing. Yeah, Cal was a much better climber than I was. I wasn't bad though!
"That's okay! And on Bracca, it was like I was risking my life every day," he laughed, "I was a rigger, so I always had to climb across these dangerous platforms. It sucked but the pay was decent, I guess. And it was like going to the gym, so I didn't have to go after I got off," he joked as he reached the top. I smiled and kept moving up the vines more and more. He reached his hand out to me when I got near the top and I took it gladly. He pulled me up with no effort at all. He wasn't lying about his old job being a workout!
"Thank you, my server job seems small in comparison."
"Nah, the planet I ended up on just happened to be more dangerous than Hosnian Prime. You're better than me at a lot of stuff, I bet."
I looked down and wiped some dirt off my pants.
"You're just trying to make me feel better, Cal," I giggled.
"It's true though! As we hang out more, you'll find out I'm trash at so many things."
I shook my head and walked past him with a smile. BD-1 was there waiting for us.
"Yeah right. BD-1, do you know the way to the vault as well?" I asked him sweetly with my hands on my knees. He ran with his tiny legs to a cable that led downward to another platform of land. The only problem was, how were we going to get across the cable? Under the cable was the abyss that would almost certainly kill us if we fell down into it.
"You wouldn't happen to know how we can all get over there, would you?" Cal asked him with his hands on his hips. Cal listened to what BD-1 said and I got most of it.
"Hang on to you?" I asked. How are we going to do that with both of us? BD-1 beeped again, and I went red.
"Me hang onto Cal?"
I looked at the ginger boy next to me and his face was as red as his hair. He shrugged his shoulders at me awkwardly.
"I mean...If you're okay with it then I am."
"S-sure! I mean...Yeah! It's no big deal," I giggled. Cal's nervousness lowered and he smiled. BD-1 hopped to the top of the cable and connected to it. Cal walked over to him and grabbed a hold of his legs. I took a deep breath and joined the two, wrapping my arms around Cal's chest and holding on to the straps of his jacket.
"You good?" Cal chuckled.
"Yep," I replied, feeling silly now that we were actually holding on to each other. I thought it would be awkward, but it was no big deal. I think maybe we were just acting childish.
"Okay, BD, here goes!"
Cal jumped off the edge and BD-1 glided us across the cable in no time. That was awesome! It was such a rush!
"BD-1, you're freaking amazing," I yelled, full of excitement as we landed on the other side of the cable. His robotic eyes beamed at me and he ran to the next place where we needed to go. It's so cool that a droid could have so much expression even though he was just a robot. The next thing we had to do was travel across this bar that led around to another part of the area. Each area, again, was separated by the same ongoing abyss. This, I could do. My Jedi training was slowly coming back to me in flashes. Cal and I jumped up on the bar and balanced ourselves as we walked on it.
"See, you're better than me at balancing yourself," Cal said behind me. I glanced behind me and scoffed at him.
"Cal, you're balancing on the beam the same as I am."
He smiled and closed his eyes.
"I don't know...you look better to me!"
"Cal, you're too much," I said. He chuckled but then his eyes widened. Mine did as well as we reached the end of the bar. The bar ended in front of a room, and we had to drop down and travel across the bar with our hands because the top was blocked off. Our eyes widened because in the room were two worm-like creatures roaming around. BD-1, who was in front of us on the bar, jumped down and bravely attacked the worm. It didn't work out too well. The worm bit one of BD's legs and then started thrashing him around.
"BD!" I yelled as I jumped down and ignited my light saber. I slashed it across the worm's body, and it split in half. Cal jumped down behind me and took the other worm out with his own lightsaber. I took a second to catch my breath because I hadn't used my lightsaber like that in ages. Cal gave me a reassuring look and I nodded before looking around.
"BD-1?"
The droid spoke to us from across the room and we saw that he had run away behind a giant swinging fan. Cal and I walked over to it and then stopped.
"Use the force, Luna. Try slowing it down."
I nodded and brought my hand up. This was a good opportunity to see if my connection with the force was still good. I focused my energy on the fan and shot my hand out. The fan slowed just enough for us to pass through to the little droid. My connection with the force was weakened but very much there. We ran to BD-1 and saw that his leg had been damaged by the worm.
"Oh, you poor thing!" I said to him sadly. I rested my hand on his head and Cal knelt down.
"That was really brave of you, buddy. You okay?"
BD-1 made a hurt-sounding noise and looked down at his leg. The leg looked like it was crushed to the point of no repair. Cal clicked his tongue.
"Here, I can fix it for you," he said. BD's mood changed at the sound of that and he jumped in Cal's arms like a cat would their owner. I smiled and followed the two of them to a workbench that was in this room behind the fan. Why was there a giant fan in front of it!? Ugh, whatever... Cal set BD-1 on the counter and took out a tool from one of his pockets. It had to be something he used during his old job. The tool ignited with sparks and Cal touched up BD's leg in a matter of seconds.
"There. Good as new," he said proudly, putting the tool away. BD-1 hummed as he tested his new leg out. He tapped it on the ground, and it was like it was never damaged!
"Sorry about your scomp link. We'll find a way to fix it somehow," Cal said. BD-1 was just happy he could walk normally again.
"Aww, you like it, don't you, BD! You know, you're pretty cool, Cal. It's like you have a solution for everything!" I yelled in admiration.
"Ha! Thanks, Luna," he said with a grin. He patted BD-1 on the head and the droid's lights flickered again. You could say that he was thanking Cal that way. He jumped off the counter and pressed a switch that made the fan in front of the room stop.
Nice.
He ran out into the main room and we followed him.
"He's full of so much energy," I said.
"You ain't kidding," Cal replied with a smile. There was another small room and then a narrow corridor that led deeper into the building. We chose to investigate the small room first before moving on to the corridor, which was where BD wanted us to go. The only thing in the room was food and supplies. Most of the room appeared empty, however. I turned to leave but Cal stopped me before I could with a tap of my arm.
"Hey, Luna? You see that jar right there?" He asked me. I turned back around and looked at the jar.
"Yeah, why?"
"Do you see a blue mist-like glow coming from it?"
I stared at the jar before shaking my head. It just looked like a regular jar to me.
"No, do you?"
He nodded and held his hand out to it. He made a small grunt and closed his eyes. I watched him, not knowing what he was doing. He opened his eyes again and looked around the room.
"The person who lived here used this room for food and supplies. They would pickle the food first before sealing them in jars. For the supplies, they put as much as they could in here but then ran out after they were attacked by those worm enemies."
I put my hands behind my back and looked at him in thought.
"How do you know that, Cal?"
"I have this special ability to touch objects and learn about their past. That blue mist I was talking about? I can see it and when I touch it, I'll see a flashback of what happened to it. Cere told me it's a skill only a few Jedi have. I was just wondering if you had it too."
"That's neat! No, I don't have anything like that. I probably don't have a special skill..."
"I bet you do! You never know! You'll figure out what it is in no time!" He encouraged me. I smiled and we exited the room. I've learned that Cal has a way of cheering you up whenever you're down. He was just so...optimistic. It was refreshing to say the least after five years of negativity surrounding me.
"I hope so," I muttered, slowly forming a smile. He matched it and we turned to look at the corridor. Cal going in first, he carefully slid himself in the narrow corridor and managed to get to the other side. I did the same and looked back at the slit in the wall. It was a good thing Cal and I had fast metabolisms!
"A bedroom?"
We were now in a circular room that contained a queen-sized bed that looked like it had been slept in judging by how it wasn't made. I couldn't see anything else because it was so dark. Cal and I took our light sabers from our belts and turned them on to light the room up. It was convenient when you needed a flashlight. The only other thing in this room was a container that required a scomp link. Too bad BD's got damaged.
"The Jedi Cere told us to meet probably stays in here," Cal told me.
"Yeah, I think so too."
We examined the room and found another wall of vines that led to the second floor of the building. Having climbed the vines before, I was much faster going up them this time. Cal looked proud when I reached the second floor. I just gave him a funny look and he laughed. That laugh went away when we saw the path forward. The only thing that was of interest in this room was an opening to the next room. The opening was blocked by electrical wires and they were sparking every couple of seconds.
"Well, that's not safe..." I muttered with a frown.
"Hold on, I'll try to find a way around it," Cal said before walking over to it.
"Please be careful," I said to him. I stayed where I was while he tried to figure out a way to get past the wires. He stepped in front of them and inspected them to see if they were dangerous. He raised his hand, which made me nervous, but he didn't touch the wires. He turned his head at a screen next to the wires and moved to touch it. As soon as his fingers grazed the screen, a wave of electricity shot through the entire opening and blew up. The sudden burst of electricity sent Cal flying and he landed on his back with a gasp.
"Cal!" I screamed and ran to him. His eyes were closed but he was still conscious.
"O-Ow..." he groaned in pain. I put my hand on his chest and helped him sit up.
"Are you okay!? Please be alright!"
As I was yelling, BD-1 was next to me, trying to help Cal up as well. Cal groaned again but eventually opened his eyes. He laid his head back into my arm and shut his eyes tightly.
"That hurt so much."
"I'm sorry! Are you okay?" I asked him, my eyes filled with concern. He opened his eyes again and gave me a small nod.
"Y-Yeah, I'll be alright. I didn't know that would happen..." He mumbled with a chuckle. I sighed and moved my hand from his chest to his arm. BD-1 got away from under his body and jumped up beside us. I turned to him and a small green crystal shot up from the top of his head. Cal caught it before it hit the ground and stared at it. He was tough if he could still move after that. I mean, it seriously looked like that burst of electricity hurt a lot.
"A healing stem?" Cal asked as he stared at the miniature crystal.
"You just have to inject that into your shoulder, right?" I asked. I don't think I've ever had to use one. Cal nodded and brought it to his shoulder. He grunted but then got up from the ground.
"That's...better. Thanks BD-1! You're just full of surprises, huh?"
BD-1 beeped happily as I stood up as well.
"I'm glad you're okay. And I'm glad you're with us, BD," I told the tiny robot. In response, he attached himself to my leg and then climbed up to my shoulder. Cal and I laughed and BD jumped to Cal's shoulder.
"I think he likes us too," Cal laughed. I smiled and petted the top of BD's head. He was almost like a pet in the way he interacted with us. With the way he's helped us so far, I'd prefer to have him stay with us from now on.
"Well, in that case, welcome to the team, BD-1!"
And that is the end of the chapter! I knew I said chapters would be around 3k-5k words but this just turned out to be longer, which is fine. I hope you guys are liking it so far! I'll finish all of Bogano in the next chapter and there's no telling how long that's going to be. Please comment or review the story and let me know what you think so far! Would also love it if you followed the story too! With that, I'll see you guys next time!
