Disclaimer: I don't own Red Dwarf...No - I don't - I really don't!

Okay... Well this fic is what happens when you combine a baybay hyperness filled day, with bordem and a whim to write: I wanted to write something Red Dwarfy but not sure what - Decided on a Cat one shot, so I opened a Word doc and just started writing without any idea of what I was going to put next... And this is the result, Also ended up as been set in dimension 666. (Cat/Kira universe).

The Frozen Woman

Cat opened his eyes and yawned a satisfying yawn that came from over 8 hours sleep, which was a blessing really since loads of monsters and smeg kept trying to kill them – totally ruined his sleeping timetable.

Cat sat up and ran a hand through his hair, slicking it back neatly as he did so.

He then stood up and after spending an obligatory 2 hours preparation and preening time; he jumped neatly into the supply pipe and left his secret room.

After a few minutes he reached his destination and removed the grate from in front of him. He dropped down neatly onto the corridor in front of Rimmer & Lister's bunk room and walked in with a confident smile on his face.

"Hey buds!" He smiled, but after receiving no reply from the darkened room he frowned.

"Lights." He said after a moment. He looked round but no one was there. He turned and saw the screen flashing saying he had a message.

"Play." Cat said as he sat down on Rimmer's bunk with a sigh.

"Hey Cat – Me, Kryten, Rimmer and Holly have taken one of the Blue Midgets down to this planet we saw on the scanner scope. We tried to find you but you were in the supply pipes again out of Holly's sight. You really should tell us where you den is – Still, your loss, will be back in a day or so."

Cat sighed and then shrugged at Lister's message. He wondered what to do. He could eat, have another nap, watch 'The Flintstones'.

Cat suddenly looked up as a thought popped up in his mind. He walked back out to the corridor, climbed into the air ducts and went back to his den.

Once there he went to a small chest and opened it. Inside there were a lot of Kira's things, mainly clothes, various CDs & books.

Cat searched around for a bit then picked out an old tatty Catherine Cookson novel, one he had read many times, and slipped it into his pocket next to his nail file kit.

Then he gracefully swung himself back into the air ducts and made his way to the cargo bays.

Once there he looked along the rows of Starbugs, then gingerly made his way to Starbug 1. He climbed up the steps and past the midsection and up the metal steps that led to the sleeping quarters and stasis booths.

He walked up to the stasis booth Kira was in and looked at her with gentle eyes.

"He babe, sorry it hasn't been a while since I've been to see you… But I'm here now – And I brought one of your favourite books." He added as he fished the novel out of his pocket and held it up to the frozen woman.

Cat sighed and slid down the wall opposite the booth till he was sat on the floor, his arms wrapped round his knees, and his head resting against the wall as he looked up at the woman he loved.

He wondered about the mass of dust spoiling his suit, but he just shrugged and opened the Catherine Cookson novel.

He flicked through the pages for a bit, then when he found the bookmark left in from last time he began to read aloud to the unhearing Kira as he tried to resist a silent tear from falling…

The End
