Stella's POV: it's been a couple days since I got the idea to do girls on fire and once Wendy got on board we started thinking of how we can get girls to want to join the program. Right now me and Wendy are at a local high school to pitch to some girls to join the program

S= any that's why were calling it girls on fire, hell yeah it will be challenging but you show up you put in the blood sweat and the tears and this program could change your life
WS= we'll have a lot of fun too
S= ( looks to the girl that is popping her gum) hey you with the gum you must have a lot of energy to snap gum through my whole presentation this program could be a great way for you to channel that energy ( the school bell rings) all right sign ups are right here
WS= thanks for listening we know the school made you show up but we really appreciate it fun starts next week ( girls leave)
S= that's the third time we've done this pitch and there's still no takers
WS= we might need another approach one a little less intimidating

Wendy leaves once she leaves I hurry up and clean up my stuff and head into work once I get there I go into the locker room to put my stuff away and I run into Kelly and start telling him what happened Today at the presentation

S= intimidating can you believe that
K= it's a great idea for a program I'm sure you'll get signs up
S= well it Better be soon because captain Horton says that if we don't get recruits by the funding deadline next week then he will shut us down and not for nothing but Seager has opinion about everything I mean it must have been tough working with her
K= um nothing I haven't dealt with before ( the bells go off)

Kelly's pov: everything with me and Matt has been good since that one call and me and Stella are doing great. I am so proud of what Stella is doing about making a program for young girls to be junior firefighter I just hope her and Seager get along and also hope they have some sign up soon or the program will be shut down. After Stella tells me how her morning presentation we got a call to a motel fire when we got there only one person survived. A couple hours later I am sitting at the squad table doing my crossword when someone comes up behind me

DL= afternoon
K= help you with something
DL= Darren Lamar Milwaukee PD ( shows his badge) I understand you guys pulled a victim out of a motel fire this morning caucasian male 30
K= that's right but he didn't make it smoke got to him
DL= he was dead before the fire started
K= how did you figured Milwaukee
DL= he was a witness to a homicide I'm working on up north I guess someone didn't want him talking

Once he said all that I thought it was best for chief to hear the full stuff

DL= Anthony Harns 14 years old good kid thought if he played ball well enough he'd go to college but his older brother sucked him into his gang life and a week ago Tuesday was shot and killed outside the Wisconsin center drug deal gone bad
K= damn
DL= black kid gets killed selling drugs nobody cares but I do that was me once. I escaped that life and he had a chance to do the same so I'm working the cases as hard as I can but I was getting nowhere until out of the blue I get a call from brad Whittier form Chicago
K= our victim at the motel fire
DL= he was at the convention center last week some kind of medical equipment show says he has info on Anthony's death, but he doesn't want to talk on the phone something's got him scared. So I told him to check into a motel and wait for me by the time I got here motel's roosted Whittier's dead
K= hey chief can I get a little latitude to get involved in this one
CB= absolutely

Once the chief gave me permission to get involved I tell my squad what is happening and then I go and wait for Seager to get here since I will be working with her on this case

Stella's POV: I keep hoping some young girls start signing up for this program because I want this program to work . A couple hours later I am going though some papers ate the dispatch area when I see that Seager is walking into the firehouse

S= hey
WS= I had an epiphany
S= yeah
WS= I was thinking instead of confronting potential girls on fire face to face what if we put up slip flyers all around their neighborhood
S= those are pretty sharp
WS= right so if a girl walks by catches her eye she'll feel like signing up is her decision no pressure from school or adults
S= I mean it's worth a shot but you know we better get them up fast
WS= I was thinking the same thing
S= great
WS= Be great to get them up today ( hands over the stack of flyers)
S= wait why are you handing me the whole pile
WS= I wish I could help but I just got assigned a new OFI case and it's time sensitive
S= ah all right ( kelly Walks by)
K= you ready
WS= Yea
K= ( kiss Stella cheek) cruz is covering squad the rest of his shift see you at home
S= yeah
K= okay
WS= thank you. ( they walk away)

Of course kelly is working this OFI case with Wendy. So a few hours I have Emily help me put the flyers around the neighborhood as we do I start telling her my thoughts on working with Wendy

S= and you know what else
EF= huh
S= she loves to get the last word in she just drops a comment and then scoots away
EF= oh well you're the queen of last word
S= I know
EF= stapler
S= kelly seems pretty amused about the whole thing he keeps saying that Seager and me will make a great team once we iron out all the kinks oh but if no one comes to the sign up tomorrow then the whole thing is going get shut down anyway
EF= oh these flyers are great I'm sure girls will show up
S= I hope you're right
EF= yeah you always knew you wanted to be a firefighter
S= pretty much yeah right out of high school what about you
EF= um no I had the doctor dream
S= that's right but you're still in the medical profession you're saving lives
EF= yeah the doctor dream was a tough to shake though yeah

We finish putting up the flyers up I just hope some girls decide to sign up. The day I sit outside the firehouse to see if girls will show up to sign up for the program. I am about to give up after a couples of hours of sitting here and nothing when all of sudden a girl walks up

S= hi hey whoa whoa whoa whoa slow down Um uh are you here for girls on fire
KY= am I the only one
S= yeah but hey what's your name
KY= Kylie
S= Kylie okay I'm about to get very real with you I'm killing myself trying to get this program off the ground and I'm working with this girl who is insanely competitive who used to have a thing for my boyfriend I know but it's worth it because I know how awesome this program can be Seager and girls on fire but we will kick ass running it we're firefighters and it's the best job in the world and you should really check it out
KY= okay ( wants the clipboard)
S= okay here you go

I am so happy I have one person sign up maybe she will talk to her friends and convinced them sign up too

Kelly's pov: once Seager get to the firehouse we head to the motel to investigate the crime scene

K= looks like the fire started on this bed
WS= guy was a smoker I'm not calling it arson if it turns out he just dropped his ashes onto the comforter accelerant
K= maybe strange smell here watch out ( lifts up bed
WS= maybe the fire started underneath the bed
K= or the accelerant was poured on top and it soaked through

We collected some advice and them board up the motel room a janitor walks by

WS= hey no one goes in this room okay
MJ= what
K= this is a crime scene now no one goes in until the investigation is complete
MJ= your the boss man

We both go home or go back to work the next day I decide that I should check in with Wendy so I drove to OFI

WS= severide
K= you got em
WS= just came in ( they sit down) sample test positive for ignitable liquid resolute sounds like arson to me
K= they Identify the accelerant
WS= peracetic acid a common antimicrobial disinfectant found In
Both= janitorial supplies
So we head back to the motel to ask figure out what is going on

WS= what's the plan
K= I just want to feel this guy out of we get a bad hit off of him we don't mess around and we call in CPD right away ( Wendy notice something)
WS= hey severide
K= what the hell is thus ( knocking on the door) fire department anyone on there
WS= ( notice that the janitor coming at them with a hammer) severide

I fight with the janitor to get him to drop the hammer

K= drop it, drop it ( he does )
MJ= take it easy tough guy easy just didn't recognizing you that's all I though someone was trying to get into this room
WS= who took the board off
MJ= the wind pulled them loose I was getting ready to fix them
K= the wind right
MJ= I didn't do anything wrong
WS= the thing is Denny what happened in there was murder so excuse us if we're a little on edge
K= what were you up to the day of the fire
MJ= wait what no no no I had nothing to do with this look I can't be getting into any trouble I'm on parole all right
K= the day of the fire you were getting in our way running into the office
MJ= I was trying to get you a master key so you a master key so you wouldn't have to go breaking down our doors that's all
K= all right well you're not in any trouble sorry for coming at you like that( he walks away)

We board the room back up and go home for the night. The next day on shift I go update the chief on what is going on and what I found

K= the medical examiner found no traces of smoke in Brad Whittier's lung me only water looks like the killer drown him in a tub and then torched the place
CB= you send all this to our friend in Milwaukee
K= yeah and Seager's referring the arson to CPD so you'll be glad to hear I'm focused on squad again 100%
CB= this peracetic acid you know what it's used for
K= cleaning supplies we thought it pointed toward the janitor but it
CB= it's also used for sterilizing medical equipment now didn't detective Lamar sat that our victim was in Milwaukee on some kind of medical trade
K= yeah he did Brad Whittier worked for a company called hollette industries
CB= Hollette ( types it into the computer) yes they sell medical supplies now who's more likely to have peracetic acid on hand a gang banger or a medical supplies sales rep
K= so maybe one of Whittier's coworkers is all wrapped up in this and that's who he was so afraid of...look chief I know I just...
CB= go I'll cover you
K= thanks

Once the chief tells me that I can still go work on the case I leave and meet up with Seager and we have some from intelligence go to the victim's work place

BB= we're all still reeling from the news I mean what was brad doing in a motel room in the first place none of it makes any sense
AR= he apparently told a Milwaukee detective he knew something about a murder that happened while your sales team was there for a conference
BB= yes I spoke with detective Lamar but brad never mentioned any of it to us
WS= mr. Roesch your company sells paracetic acid is that right
BB= of course in bulk but what does that have to do with anything
K= that was the accelerant used to set the fire in MR, Whittier's motel room
BB= I don't understand what do you people think happen to brad
AR= Mr. Roesch did any of the members of your sales team the ones that you sent to the conference did any of them have a drug problem to your knowledge
BB= well even if I knew or anything like that the company can't give out that kind of information
AR= we see this a lot businessmen that go on trips out of town sometimes they like to let loose a little go to a strip club do a couple bumps maybe one of your team members wonder away from the conference to buy got into it with. Corner boy and brad saw what went down
BB= this could be all my fault
WS= how is that Mr. Roesch
BB= I asked brad to keep an eye on ray, ray Averett he's had some trouble on the past he's been to rehab but I told brad don't let him out of your sight
K= this Ray Averett is he a big guy red hair
BB= yes why

I point Adam and Wendy to the guy and we start walking over toward him but he runs away so we all run after her and he end up going to the parking garage to make sure he doesn't get away I run away and push a dumpster in front of his car and it work and Adam arrest him so we caught the guy

Stella's POV: it's the day of the class I got everything set up with a little help form Seager now we wait and see if Kylie or any of her friends want to show up

S= i didn't mention it to captain Horton that we only have one girl
WS= that's all we need it's just for starters. I'm glad my flyers actually worked
S= yeah well if I hadn't used my power of persuasion I mean ah who knows I'm it's ten after
WS= you think she's blowing us off
S= I mean she did seem unsure
WS= captain didn't know you'd be joining us today
CH= where are your recruits
S= Kylie
KY= you said it's the best job in the world so I uh brought a few friends hope that's cool
S= oh yeah I figured you would. All right recruits line up let's go let's go all right arms length apart all right let's have some fun

I was so happy she showed up when she did and she also had friends with her she had sole good timing she saved my program

Kelly's pov: I am glad we got the guy who set the fire Right now I am at Molly's having a celebratory beer when the chief show up

CB= hey
K= hey
CB= just got off the phone with detective Lamar from Milwaukee says to uh buy you whatever you're drinking tonight and he said thank you ( pulls out a picture and set it down) you have the mother of that boy a little bit of peace knowing his murder didn't go well unanswered
K= I was just trying to help
CB= you did that and more

Me and the chief enjoy our drinks for the night.
