A/N: Okay I decided to do this based on a challenge on a forum a long time ago. To write a story with Disney version but have a little of the REAL story sprinkled here and there. Well after reading the about the real story (which at time insists on being the true story), and having seen the Disney version and the New World movie I think I can give it a shot.
Today in this movie three characters joining the cast.
Reboot Dante (DMC)
V (DMC5)
Aisling (The Secret of Kells).
I noticed that these three characters in a way have connection to Pocahontas. So I thought it would make for an interesting multi-crossover story.
Funny enough of all the Disney fan theory's about Pocahontas, there is one that is not too well known. Four of the settlers two of which are John Smith and Thomas actually represent the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse to a certain extent. Usually that happens in story of exploration and colonization. The first Stargate movie to the Avatar movies (With the next one coming I'm sure they will expand on it). Anyway in my mythos for this story the same concept will be represented here. With Dante, V and Aisling and Thomas as the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (in their own way).
So anyway – Rated T for most parts and M for Mature. Violence. Blood. Language. Sexual Content Blah blah blah … and worst of all: NO GOLD! (Why am I not surprised?)
Nah, it'll be fine.
Chapter 1
It was a beautiful day in London. The sky was blue. There was not a cloud in the sky. Seagulls flew overhead as a line of men prepared to board a ship for the new world. However, there was one man who was not in line with the others. A cloaked figure peered out of a nearby alleyway as he was reading his book.
His name is Valenthough most call himV is, the youngest of the Sons of Sparda and Eva. Nearby was Dante the eldest is the watching from the same alley way. And lastly but not least was Aisling, a girl of the ancient fairy-like race known as the Tuatha de Danann.
"Are you sure you still want to do this?" V asked.
The reason for this question is twofold. two weeks back Dante, Aisling and Valen decided to experience old English around the time the English would sail to the new world. Using V's ability to go back in time they arrived smack dab in the countryside of jolly ol' England in 1607.
They barrowed clothes so they have fitting attire and not stick out like a sore thumb. Aisling transformed into a green eyed white cat followed them after them from a distance as an expert lookout. After a while of exploring Dante and V came across a guy who was stopping in the local tavern, man who has seen a lot of adventures – goes by the name of John Smith. And in a short time he was going on his biggest assignment yet. The New World.
Dante and Valen was amazed to me guy who would go to the New World in this very year. However this chance meeting wasn't to last; for suddenly the tavern was attacked by demon that ripped into everyone faster than you can say 'Hail Mary! Full of Grace'. This disturbance force Aisling to drop her disguise and join the boy in the fight.
Dante, Aisling and Valen defeat the creatures quickly and discovered the truth of this attack. V identified the creatures as the rarely seen cosmic entity known to ride the Time Flow seeking prey to hunt; practically those who are famous in history for deeds or events.
In which case John Smith is supposed to travel to the New World, but now to their shock that he is dead history will be changed. However, considering reality is not being destroyed by some temporal nuclear tidal wave or whatnot, means that perhaps there still maybe a chance to fix everything. How was not clear at the time. But, if not taken seriously, would bring about drastic consequences for them and everyone, now and in the future. Before they left they buried him on a hill under a large oak tree.
He shook his head. "No." Dante sighed. He was starting to regret this plan. But it was already too late, they was already here.
"Well then now all we do now is act and play our parts. There are no small parts – only small parts." V said as he gestured with his sliver cane.
"I am not that small." Dante retorted.
"Though Vergil claims to be bigger than both of us." V quipped.
"Yet to be proven in a court of law." Dante quip back.
"They're starting to load the ship. Let's go!" Aisling urged and took the form of a green eyed white cat.
Now along V they walked out of an alley with rebellion on his back and his knapsack over his shoulder. They two stride past the sailors saying goodbye to their families. Since Dante is impersonating John is impersonating keep the timeline to together he wills no doubt to do everything he can to convince everyone he meets that he is John Smith.
Meanwhile, two men stood on the deck talking to each other as they noticed an old friend and captain walking towards the ship.
"Hey, look. Is that Smith?" asked the red-haired man named Lon next to him. The black-haired man named Ben smirked at his brother's question.
"That's him, all right. The old sea dog." the Ben slapped his brother on the back.
However, their conversation didn't go unheard. A red head youth named Thomas listened to the men in disbelief.
"Smith? As in Captain John Smith?! As in the Captain John Smith!" Thomas couldn't believe what he was seeing!
He'd had heard so many incredible stories and tales about the man in question. He couldn't believe his he coming aboard this very ship.
"Are you coming on this voyage, too?" Lon asked.
"Course, he is, you half-wit. Ben said, smacking his brother on the back of the head. "You can't fight Indians without John Smith."
"That's right. I'm not about to let you boys have all the fun. Again." Dante as shouted from the cannon he jumped on as it is hoisted onto the ship.
"Hey John, you alright you look a little pale around the gills and fin." Lon asked.
"Aye, what happened John? See a ghost?" Ben laughed.
Dante smirked and decided to humor. "I have, actually. When I was seeing a baker's daughter recently. He came in covered in flour, and when he saw what me and her were doing he chased me out of town with a rolling pin."
"Aye, Now that sounds like one that will definitely turn you pale as ghost." Ben said.
Just then a fancy black carriage with a color scheme fit for a villain pulled by two scary black horses came to a halt in front of the docks.
A large elegantly dressed prideful man stepped out of the carriage and wave to the crowd behind the wall of soldiers that framed the path up the ship. This is Governor Ratcliff He was to make his mark on history.
Following behind him followed a gentleman dressed in yellow holding a pillow with a small dog on it. The pug seemed to wave like the royalty of England as it was carried away. Soon the ship began to set sail and the men aboard waved to the crowd. Dante Aisling and V went to the front of the ship and to the stare at the vast ocean that lead to the New World.
It wasn't long before the crew began to sing a song as they work about the ship.
In sixteen hundred seven,
We sail the open sea.
For glory, God, and gold.
And the Virginia Company
For the New World is like heaven.
And we'll all be rich and free.
Or so we have been told.
By the Virginia Company
For glory, God and gold
And the Virginia Company
On the beaches of Virginny
There's diamonds like debris.
There, silver rivers flow and gold you pick right off a tree.
With a nugget for my Winnie
And another one for me
And all the rest will go to the Virginia Company.
To glory, God and gold.
AND THE VIRGINIA COMPANYYY!
Yes, everything seems to be going fine and looks like there won't be any problems. But that's wishful thinking. Dante has been on many types of ships in the past. From wind power sailing ships to engine powered battleships on the open sea to starships in deep space. It is never easy to keep these ships going. It's all gritting the teeth and plowing through. But the challenge and danger of it all is what makes it fun.
About halfway to the new world the ship was caught in a massive storm. Lightning flashes, thunder booms and the waves were so massive they could probably surf them like surfers do trying to escape the undertow. Aisling was at the front of the ship draped in a hooded clock holding onto the rope as the windblown her hair backwards as the ship started to go down slop of the wave. Her green eyes widened and water stream over her as she saw the rollercoaster they were all in for.
On the men hauled ass and rope to get the sails closed and tied off. Wave after wave hit the ship and the deck knocking the crewmen off their feet. Still they quickly got up and return to their task. V was below deck with the crew that handles the hand pumps to flush the water out for inside the ship. Thomas worked to get the cannons tied off but the one he was working on snapped as the ship rocked in the opposite direction. Thomas mustered all his strength to grab the cannon and keep it from going no further, but he help right now!
"JOHN!" Thomas shouted at the top of his lungs. "The cannons are breaking loose!"
High above on the mast Dante and the others were tying the canvas up while trying to keep themselves from falling off into the sea. Dante almost didn't respond to his personas name being called (Sometimes one has to remind themselves that they are the person they are impersonating.) Dante wasted no time and sprung into action and landed on deck.
"Reef the topsails! Hurry! Steady on your course." Dante shouted to the other sailors.
He reached Thomas and grabbed the cannon. "It's alright, kid. We'll get her tied off. Just hang on."
Dante Thomas worked tirelessly to get the canons tied off as the cold water of the sea drenched them over and over again.
"Say your prayers, men!" Someone shouted above them.
Up and down the ship rocked and they were now reach the climax of this Monstro of a storm.
"Valen, make the rocking stop! I'm getting seasick." Griffon said before then suddenly vomits somewhere in V mind.
V smiles and he works the pump. "It may be that the gulfs will wash us down: It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles, and see the great Achilles, whom we knew."
On back on deck a wave smashed against the ship.
"Kid, watch out!" Dante shouted as the wave came crashing over the side. But it was too late. The wave dragged Thomas over the side of and into the dark waters below.
"Man overboard!" Someone shouted in the crow's nest.
"HELP!" Thomas pleaded and the ship sailed on
"Stay your course! He's lost!" Ben shouted.
Dante was not having any of it. "Fuck this!" said Dante as he tied a rope around his waist. "Pull the pins!"
"Aye, sir!" said a crew member who did just that.
The rope still attached to him Dante ran toward the edge and leaped high into the air as lightning flashed around him, as he dove into the water to rescue Thomas. He used his Angelic powers to boost him through the water to reach him quicker.
"Smith! Smith! Are you crazy?"
Dante Sparda, he was indeed crazy enough to try save someone in an impossible situation.
"Hang on kid I got you!"
The rope snapped and the Ben and Lon rushed and finally grabbed it. Aisling came in from behind and all of them began to heave and pull to rope as Dante held on both Thomas and rope tightly until they reached the bottom of the ship.
"Come on lads, pull! PUT YOUR BACKS INTO IT!" Ben shouted.
Dante ran up the back of the ship until he reached the railing and brought Thomas up before himself. Ben, Lon and Aisling grabbed the two and heaved them aboard. Upon hitting the deck Thomas coughed and sputtered, trying his best to expel the seawater from his lungs.
"Ah, the lucky lad!" Ben said, draping Thomas in a blanket. and giving Thomas a few more pats on the back to help him cough more seawater up.
"Well, that was best bath I had in days, and I needed." Dante chuckled wringing out Thomas' hat before putt back on his with a good pat.
"Well done, Smith," said Ben's brother Lon.
Aisling had already shifted back into a white cat and came over to rub up against Dante before going over to Thomas and sniffing him to see if he was alright.
Thomas smiled at the green eyed cat and gave it a nice rub, to which Aisling purred in enjoyment.
"Are you alright, big brother?" Valen walked over to see if he was all okay.
"Of course I am, I mean when someone's in danger you rush and save them, regardless of your personal safely." Dante then looked up at his new friends behind him. "I mean, you'd all do the same for me, right?" he asked.
"Yes, yes."
"Oh! Sure, sure."
"Of course, we would! "
"Absolutely!"
"Yeah, we would."
Dante rolled his eyes. "Well, that's good to know."
"Of whom it maybe said that: Every morn brought for a noble chance. And every chance brought forth a noble knight, deserves our gratitude." Valen quotes a famous verse that ironically, hasn't been said yet.
And speaking of gratitude; the storm finally was beginning let up with one last lightning flash up the arrival of Governor Ratcliff holding his pug, both having an unamused expression while Wiggins, Ratcliff's servant, looked on with genuine concern.
"Trouble on deck?" Ratcliff asked dryly.
"G-Governor Ratcliffe!" Thomas gasped as he and Dante got to their feet.
Dante was not too fond of Governor Ratcliffe at all. Oh sure, he 's meet a fair share of prideful types before. But Dante as a feeling that the governor probably wouldn't have cared if anyone drowned if it meant getting to the New World faster.
"Oh, nothing, just Thomas fell overboard." Dante said and a serious tone.
Ratcliff found 'John Smith' looking quite different from what he heard about him; Younger with silver-hair but experience in his eyes. Regardless appearances matter not, what matters to Ratcliff are the results. "Thank heavens, he's been successfully retrieved," Ratcliff said with a glare of satisfaction. "Well done, Smith."
Thomas sighed with relief upon hearing the good news.
"Of course." Dante said.
He found it ironic that Ratcliffe would care about the men under his command men when during the storm he was safely relaxing in his cabin. Ratcliff walkeddown the steps to the middle of the ship deliver a quick word of encouragement the crew.
"Don't lose heart, men. It won't be long before we reach the New World and remember what awaits us there ... Freedom ..."
"Arf!" Percy barked.
"Prosperity ..."
"Arf! Arf!" Percy barked again.
"The adventure of our lives. You're the finest crew England has to offer, and nothing, not wind nor rain, nor a thousand bloodthirsty savages, shall stand in our way! Carry on, men!"
Ratcliffe turned to head back into his cabin. Wiggins, followed after him, carrying an umbrella above his head and lantern in his hand. "A stirring oration, sir. I'm sure the men were most exhilaraaaated!" He shouted as the umbrella was almost pulled out of his hand. He manages to get it back in order when Ratcliffe turned around.
"Let us hope so. I'll need those witless peasants to dig up my gold, won't I?" He asked his pet pug. The little dog gave a wicked grin as his answer.
As things quieted back on deck and everything returned to smooth sailing again Dante helped Thomas with tying down the cannons.
"So kid what is your name?" Dante asked.
"It's Thomas, sir." Thomas said.
"While nice to me you, Thomas." Dante said with a slap of the back.
"I can't wait to see the new world!" Thomas said eagerly as he helped Dante tie the cannons down.
"Yeah … I still can't believe it myself." Dante said as it finally dawn on him.
"Its gonna be great, John. I'm gonna get a pile of gold, build me a big house. And if any Indian tries to stop me … I'll blast him!"
Dante nods his head in understanding. Thomas has big dreams and yet thinks he can take on the world. Before Limbo fell into the real world and before he meets Kat and Vergil, Dante had similar thoughts on what he can carve out of life that didn't involve the demons. Basically all heart, no brains.
Dante pulled the cannon and Thomas pushed.
"You just worry about that fortune of yours. Leave the natives to me." Dante reminded.
"You think they'll give us trouble?" Lon asked.
"Not as much trouble as Smith will give them." Said Ben taking a feather and a mop and pretending to be a native Dante has nothing against the Native Americans past, present or future. he does not harm innocent people who had done him no wrong.
Now when it comes soldiers and warriors, that's a different story. But like warrior he's faced who takes up a weapon and charges at him, he will defend himself. With style! Dante quickly slice off the top of the mop and stabs wine barrel and wine flowed out like blood into the awaiting tankards of the men.
Dante gestures to Thomas to follow while the men began to sing about killing Indians (or injuns … or engines, who can keep up with it anymore).
We'll kill ourselves an injun.
Or maybe two or three
we're stalwart men and bold.
Of the Virginia Company
Thomas followed Dante up into the crow's nest. At the top they lean out of the dark horizon and equally dark waters before them.
"What do you suppose the New World will look like?" Thomas asked.
Back in his own time, Dante has had lots of adventure of many new, brave and strange worlds. But those tales have yet to be told.
"Like all the others, I suppose. I've seen hundreds of New Worlds, Thomas. And do you know what they all have in common?" Dante asked.
"What?"
"They're all new."
"Oh."
Thomas then felt something rubbing up against his shin and looks down to see a cat from before. How she even got up here was surprising to Thomas. He reached down and picked her up and carried her. Aisling just made herself comfortable in his arms.
"I see my friend likes you, Thomas." Dante said with a smile.
"Does she have a name?" Thomas asked.
"Her name is Aisling."
Thomas smiles at Aisling. "Hello Aisling."
Aisling blinks and purrs deeply and reached up with her paw and gentle boops Thomas' nose.
"As to how new this New World … we will just have to see, won't we?"
Indeed, the New World would lead to the adventure of a lifetime as well as something he never would have seen coming.
While trying to read a book, V put wax in his ears to block out the sound of the crew as they begun to sing loudly again.
To glory, God and gold.
AND THE VIRGINIA COMPANYYY!
Meanwhile far across the Ocean in the New World awaits; this vast strange land was know by many names. To the Norsemen, they called it Vinland for the lush green and bountifulness to be found within. The New World, home to the mighty First Nations; and this land is both Motherland to those born and Fatherland to their ancestors who came before. Some say there are more than just the Natives roaming the land, but one would have to be brave seek such things, won't they?"
The native Algonquin tribe rested near the eastern cost but had a thick deep forests and rivers surrounding them. On one of these rivers that lead into the heart of the tribe
Their chieftain, the Great Powhatan and his warriors were returning to the village. He wants to surprise his people with his return. But scout saw and blew a couch horn to alert the next scout who ran through a herd of deer and blew the horn to alert the village. Above cornfield the next scout blew the horn alerting a group of women below as they rushed excitedly to the river to see their brothers, husbands, fathers and cousins return safely. And with them the entire village was arouse to the drums that echoed throughout the land as the people sang in their own native language.
Hega hega Ya-hi-ye hega
Ya-hi-ye-ne-he Hega
Hega hega Ya-hi-ye hega
Ya-hi-ye-ne-he Hega
Steady as the beating drum
Singing to the cedar flute
Seasons go and seasons come
Bring the corn and bear the fruit
By the waters sweet and clean
Where the mighty sturgeon lives
Plant the squash and reap the bean
All the earth our Mother gives
O, Great Spirit, hear our song
Help us keep the ancient ways
Keep the sacred fires strong
Walk in balance all our days
Seasons go and seasons come
Steady as the beating drum
Plum to seed to bud to plum
Steady as the beating drum
Ya-hi-ye hega
Ya-hi-ye-ne-he hega
The chief of the natives, the great noble Powhatan stepped out of the boat as he watched the women greet their husbands, brothers, fathers and cousins. He smiled as he greeted by the village shaman Kekata bows himself to the earth as he addressed the rest of his people.
"Ka-ma wingapo Powhatan." Kekata said.
"Ay-man-ay-cho Kekata. It's good to be home." Powhatan smiled back before he addressed the rest of his people. "Chesk-cham-ay! The Massawomecks are defeated! With the help of our brothers, our villages are safe again."
The people cheer in triumph. "Your return has brought much joy to the village." Kekata said. "Look at all the smiling faces. There would be a great feast tonight."
Powhatan nods and looks around the crowd for a particual someone. "Yes. But there's one smiling face I don't see." Where is my daughter?"
"Ah, you know Pocahontas. She has her mother's spirit. She goes wherever the wind takes her." Kekata said chuckling.
Powhatan and Kekata watched the wind gather the leaves into a swirl and carry them through the forest and up towards the nearest and highest waterfall. And the very top stand on a ledge stood young lady of nineteen stood on looking out at the world as the wind and leaves rushed around her.
This was Powhatan's daughter. She born with the name Amonute, then later in life was named Matoaka, but the world will come to know her by her nickname given to her by her own people: Pocahontas.
This is her story. One can say if anything in this tale is true or false, no matter. Regardless the tale of Pocahontas is one that needs to be told, learn and remembered.
"Pocahontas!" Pocahontas looked down to see her younger friend, Nakoma in a canoe below the waterfall. "Father's back. Come down here!"
A green and red humming bird flies up next to Pocahontas. "He's back, Flit." Pocahontas said. She ran down the path past a lounging ever-hungry raccoon eating berries. "Come on Meko."
Pocahontas then got a crazy idea and turned around, instead of taking the path down why don't she take the style express way. She ran at top speed and jumped off the cliff.
"Not that … way." Nakoma was shocked for a moment.
Pocahontas felt the wind rush past her as she went into a swan dive into the water below.
"Show off." Nakoma said rolling her eyes.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk." Flit uttered.
Meko then leaps of the cliff like Pocahontas. His eyes were closed in the beginning but when he opened them he saw just how far down it the water truly was. In his panic, Flit flies down to him and mange to catch up to Meko. He scolds him but Meko grabs flit to see if he can slow his decent. Yeah, because that's smart.
Meko screams echo as he and Flit impacts the water in a cannonball fashion.
"Pocahontas?" Pocahontas? Are you all right? You'd better be all right because I'm not coming in after YOOOU! ..." the canoe unexpectedly tipped over and under the canoe in the air pocket Nakoma sees it is none other than Pocahontas. "Don't you think we're getting a little old for these games?" Nakoma said looking annoyed at her friend.
Pocahontas spit water in her face as they splashed each other under the boat. Meanwhile, flit popped her head out of the water clearly annoyed at Meko's actions. As Meko attempted to climb the boat he saw that his tale made a perfect bullseye!
However, he missed impaling his nose in the boat.
"Help me turn this thing over." Nakoma said.
When Flit heard that he panicked and tried to get free. But it was turned over before he could. Nakoma, Pocahontas and Meko got into the boat. Pocahontas began to wring her long hair out.
"What were you doing up there?" Nakoma said.
"Thinking." Pocahontas answered as Meko shook out his fur between them. "Meko!"
"About the dream again?" Nakoma asked. "Have you figured it out yet?"
"I know it means something, I just don't know what." Pocahontas said honestly.
"Maybe I should." She said. Meko noticed the water bubbling and cooed to Pocahontas. she pulled the hummingbird free. "Come on, Flit. Quit playing around. We have to get back." She said.
Meko pressed Flit's chest causing the bird to squirt water from its beak.
