Disclaimer: Yeah, yeah, we all know the song and dance: Not mine.
Bobby's new partner was due in tomorrow. Alexandra Eames, not the first woman he'd been paired with and probably not the last. With it being Valentine's day Bobby decided to try a different approach, 'kill them with kindness' was the phrase that came to mind. He had bought a rose and sat it on the empty desk in front of his own. On a slip of paper next to it he had simply written 'Detective Eames, here's to what I hope will be a lasting partnership.' When she saw the flower sitting there she gave her new partner a light smile.
'Well that's definitely a different reaction. Usually they scowl at me wondering how long before I go off on them.' Bobby thought to him self as Deakins called them into his office. Things had been going well and Eames was still there six months later. This was a good thing. Not the longest a partner had lasted, but not far behind.
Bobby had checked and double checked the date. Tomorrow was February 14th, and Eames was still with him. That was a record. He decided this called for celebration so after he bought the coffee he stopped at a flower vender and bought two roses. Since this was the second Valentine's Day they would be together. Along with the coffee and flowers Bobby again placed a note. 'Thanks' it said in his strong steady handwriting. She would understand. Walking into the squad room several minutes later Alex spotted the flowers and coffee. She smiled at him settling in for a day full of paperwork.
At their three year 'anniversary' Alex had beaten him into the office. She did a little internal victory dance as she placed the long, thin, carefully wrapped box on his desk with a note of her own 'Wear this out to dinner with me?' Bobby wasn't far behind her with three roses and a box of his own. Upon opening her gift Alex was pleasantly surprised to find a simple gold box chain bracelet with a charm hanging delicately off of it. As she looked up to thank him she saw Bobby removing the tie he had worn in replacing it with the one she had bought him.
For their five year anniversary Bobby surprised Alex with Breakfast in bed. On the tray were six roses a small black box and yet another note. 'Just say yes, and make me the happiest man on earth?' Granted it wasn't the most eloquent proposal but it was fitting for them.
The seventh year brought more flowers, these for a different reason. Bobby was on his second trip from the SUV to the apartment and that was just in gifts. Alex had gone up with their son to get him settled into his nursery.
End. Yeah I know it's all kinds of Cheesy and Clichéd. But it just came to me.
