Michelangelo yawned as he woke up from his guest bed. "Nice. My first nap in a foreign country." The rest of his brothers woke up after him.
"It's a good thing we slept when we did." Donatello said. "Different country means different time zone, so we need to get used to our sleeping habits before Splinter decides to take us back to New York."
"I ain't in no hurry." Raphael said. "I mean, these are the first humans we've ever revealed ourselves to. Not only are they cool with us, but they're ninja like us."
"Yeah. It is a nice change of pace." Leonardo agreed.
"So what's on the schedule?" Mikey asked. "I've always wanted to try out one of those sushi restaurants."
"Mikey, just because Kiriya and the girls accept us, it doesn't mean the rest of Japan will." Leo said. "In any case, let's head over to Splinter and Kiriya to see what we'll to today."
Besides the turtles, Ikaruga was the first to arrive. Asuka arrived a few minutes later before getting caught by surprise by Katsuragi's groping. Hinabi came next and Yagyu appeared out of nowhere by the window.
"Is this how it normally is every morning?" Leo asked.
"Basically." Ikaruga said. "Though, it's been a bit wild ever since Yagyu and Hibari joined the class."
Suddenly, a smoke bomb exploded filling the room. When it cleared quickly, Splinter and Kiriya stood before the kids.
"Still a fan of smoke bombs, I see." Splinter said.
"Oh, come on. You jumped in with me." Kiriya pointed out. "All right, everyone. Listen. As you know, Splinter's sons are new to Hanzo Academy, yet, they have had their own training for the past 15 years."
"The problem is," Splinter said, "While Hanzo has school-funded equipment for its training, I had to rely on scrap material found in the sewers. So, our training is no doubt different. So we're going to see just how different we are."
"How?" Asuka asked.
"The girls and the turtles will have a sparring session. One on one against each other." Kiriya proposed.
"Sounds awesome." Katsuragi said.
"Um, I hate to break it to you," Donnie said, "But your math is wrong. There are five girls and only us four turtles."
"Not to worry." Kiriya said. "Hibari, you're exempt.
"Awwww. But it sounded fun." Hibari frowned.
"It's the only way to make this one on one." Splinter said. "Now, Donatello, I think you should go first."
"Sure thing, sensei."
"And Ikaruga, as class representative, I'd like you to go first as well." Kiriya said.
"Very well." Ikaruga agreed.
"So wait." Michelangelo said. "Are we fighting here? Because I don't wanna break your nice furniture with my chucks."
"First of all, weapons will not be allowed. This will be hand-to-hand combat. Don't want anyone to get hurt. Consider it practice in case you won't ever have your weapons." Splinter said.
"And secondly, we have our own gymnasium for ninja practice." Kiriya said. "Now, everyone get ready."
Everyone met in the gym room. Ikaruga and Donatello met up at the center while everyone else waited at the side.
"Just so you know," Donatello said, "I don't have much practice without my staff. So at least try to…"
"HAJIME!"
"Wha… AH!" Donatello asked before getting kicked by Ikaruga. The fight commenced as Donatello landed on his hands and kicked back.
While watching the two fight, Splinter and Kiriya continued their talk.
"Your son is quite skilled. Though he is leaving himself wide open."
"Yes. One of Donatello's flaws is the fact that he always thinks too much. He prefers to use science instead of belief. Still, his quick thinking is quite a gift. What about her?"
"Ikaruga? Well, she's a gifted shinobi. Then again, it doesn't seem like she has many options."
"What do you mean?"
"Ikaruga's family is a proud, rich family of shinobi. They want their daughter to live up to their legacy since her brother can't do it himself."
"Sounds cold."
"That's the way things are. Ikaruga will do anything to please her family, even if she doesn't enjoy it. Still, she's proud since she's here since she met the others."
In the end of the bout, Donatello ended up on his back while Ikaruga stood above him.
"I think this ends it." She said.
"Help. I'm a turtle and I can't get up."
Ikaruga gave a quite chuckle before helping Donnie up on his feet.
"All right." Kiriya said. "Next up, you go, Yagyu."
"You as well, Michelangelo." Splinter said.
The girl in the eyepatch and the turtle with the orange bandana exchanges spots with Ikaruga and Donnie.
"Do your best, Yagyu!" Hibari cheered.
"I will."
"Oh, you're gonna fall flat on your back, girl." Mikey taunted.
"Mikey, you're embarrassing us in front of the Japanese chicks." Raphael said. "Just fight."
Yagyu went straight for the offensive while Michelangelo sometimes dodged and countered with his own unforeseen moves. Sometimes, Mikey's moves looked like dance moves.
"This turtle seems a bit… special." Kiriya commented.
"Yes." Splinter agreed. "Arguably, Michelangelo may be the most immature of the four. He likes to play childish games and make jokes, but he brings an unpredictable variable to his fighting style, so what makes him unique makes him his own kind of ninja."
"Sounds like he'll get along well with Hibari, if Yagyu allows it."
"How so?"
"Well, Yagyu and Hibari share a sister-like bond, partly because Hibari has a resemblance to Yagyu's actual sister who died mere weeks before they met. Yagyu goes out of her way to protect Hibari, but that usually tends to hold the latter back on her training. Unless something is done, Hibari's always going to be afraid of danger."
"Sounds like quite a pickle."
"That's one way of saying it."
Michelangelo was about to deliver one last kick from above, but Yagyu quickly dodged it and countered with her own kick that knocked him away.
"That's it!" Kiriya called.
"Are you all right, Michelangelo?" Splinter asked.
"Well, my face hurts, my shell hurts, even my bandana hurts."
"He's all right." Splinter said.
Mikey sat down next to Donnie. "Man, those girls are really kicking our butts."
"You mean they're kicking YOUR butts." Raph said. "No offense, but you two are kinda the lesser students. Me and Leo should win our matches easily."
"Is that so, Raphael?" Splinter asked. "In that case, you go next."
"As for your opponent," Kiriya said, "Let's go with… Katsuragi."
"Oh, yeah!" Katsuragi cheered. She went to the center of the gym across from Raphael. "Ready to get thrown down, red?"
"Ready to throw you down, blondie." Raph said raising his fists.
The two attacked with various attacks; Raphael with brute punches and Katsuragi with swift kicks. Half of the time, the two would grapple.
"Well, Raphael does seem to be tougher than his brothers." Kiriya commented.
"Should be. He works hard more than anyone." Splinter said. "Although, his temper does tend to get out of hand. And the fact that I made Leonardo the leader instead of him tends to get on his nerves. Still, he certainly likes the fighting part of being a ninja."
"Sounds like Katsuragi in a sense. She loves fighting as much as she likes groping the other girls. She enjoys it, although I worry that her smile might be masking her pain."
"What pain?"
"Katsuragi's parents were trained shinobi. But one day, they failed a mission, and according to shinobi law, that should be punished with death."
"Yes. I remember that rule. Never agreed to it myself."
"Well, neither did they. Instead of taking their punishment, Katsuragi's parents disappeared and hid themselves away. No one knows where they are, not even their own daughter that they left behind. Since then, Katsuragi has worked to become a great ninja and restore her parents' honor so she can finally reunite with them."
"Hmm. I can't help but wonder what my sons would do if that happened to me."
Raphael was about to deliver the finishing strike, but Katsuragi dodged it. She countered by kissing him on the cheek. He was so stunned by it, it gave her the opportunity to kick him to defeat.
"That's the match." Kiriya declared.
"Hold on!" Raph shouted. "Violation! Violation!"
"What? No one said anything about a cheek-kiss." Katsuragi chuckled. "Still, you were my most fun opponent yet."
Raphael sighed as he got back up. "Yeah, I suppose you're pretty good too."
"Last match." Splinter said. "And it's going to be Leonardo versus Asuka."
"Got it." Leo said as he joined Asuka in the center.
"We're doing pretty good." Katsuragi commented. "Hey, guys, after Asuka wins, we'll make up for your loss with lunch!"
"What makes you think Asuka will win?" Donatello asked. "Leo's got as much of a chance as she does."
"Only one way to be sure." Ikaruga said.
As the two ninja started the match, they moved well against each other. Each blow, each block, each trick was used pretty well to their masters' eyes.
"Ah, Leonardo. So far, he's the most promising student yet." Splinter said. "What about Asuka? What's her story?"
"Well, believe it or not, her grandfather is Master Hanzo."
"The founder of the academy? You're kidding."
"No joke. Right now, the old man's working a sushi restaurant in the city, but Asuka takes after him in a lot of ways. She's hoping she would live up to be just like him when she grows up."
"Didn't Hanzo like peeping at girls?"
"Well, not exactly like him."
At the end of the bout, both ninja wouldn't move. Leo and Asuka were both exhausted and couldn't lift their arms.
"Call it a draw?" Leo asked.
"Sounds good." Asuka agreed.
"What?" Raph asked. "No! We need one win over them!"
"Raphael!" Splinter said. "Do not despair. Like I said, these girls trained differently than I trained you. Besides, you did not have your weapons. You need to be as adept with your hands as you are with your weapons. There must be perfect balance."
"I'm sure Thanos thought the same thing." Mikey joked.
"I'm advising you to have a stable style, not kill half the universe." Splinter said.
"Well, we still kicked your shells." Katsuragi bragged. Suddenly, Splinter appeared behind her and pinched her behind her ear making her wince. "Ah! But the most important thing is that you boys did your best! Good job, guys!" Splinter let go giving a mischievous snicker.
"Well, you said you'd treat us to lunch." Donnie said.
"Ooh! Do they have pizza in Japan?" Mikey asked.
"Well, I do know this good pizza restaurant in town, but they don't deliver." Hibari said.
"No prob." Leo said. "You can pick up the pizza and meet us at a nearby rooftop so we can still have it fresh as can be."
"Is that all right, Splinter?" Kiriya asked.
"Hmm. Well, they have been getting better at their daytime stealth. But be careful, my sons."
"We will, sensei." Leo said.
"All right." Asuka said. "Pizza it is!"
As promised, the girls picked up four boxes of pizza and brought them on top of the next door building. The turtles waited there for a few minutes, so they were ecstatic when they arrived.
"Ah. Thanks, girls." Leo said.
"Finally, ninja pizza!" Mikey exclaimed as he took a slice from an open box.
"Ninja pizza?" Yagyu asked.
"Pizza that vanish quickly without trace."
Ikaruga cleared her throat and pulled out a stack of square, white paper. "I brought napkins."
"What for?" all the turtles asked at once before gorging themselves on the pies. Ikaruga sighed and put them back in her pocket.
"So I've got a question." Asuka said. "This 'ooze' that transformed you guys. Where did it come from?"
"Don't know." Donnie answered. "We never quite figured it out. I've analyzed our mutated blood plenty of times, and I never got any leads from it."
"That must get frustrating." Katsuragi said. "You boys are five and a half feet tall, and you don't know how that happened."
"I admit, it keeps me up at night." Leo said.
"I once thought that one day, we'd suddenly mutate further into atrocious turtle monsters like in the comics." Mikey said. "That'd be cool."
"Mikey, quit being you for one second." Raph said.
"You're just mad 'cause I whooped your shell." Katsuragi said. Raphael growled at that.
"Please, behave." Ikaruga said.
"Oh, come on. Loosen up." Katsuragi said. "I know. What you need is a massage!" She immediately got ahold of the class rep's breasts and played with them making her yelp in embarrassment.
"Cut it out!"
"Not until…"
Suddenly, a flash appeared in the sky. Everyone stopped when the entire sky and surrounding buildings turned a shade of red.
"What's going on?" Leo asked. "What is this?"
"It can't be." Ikaruga said escaping Katsuragi's grasp. "It's a shinobi barrier."
"A what now?" Donnie asked.
"It's a technique for shinobi to use so they can do their work while shielding our actions from the eyes of the public." Yagyu explained as she gripped her umbrella.
"That's a thing?" Raph asked. "Why didn't Splinter teach us this?"
"You don't understand." Asuka said. "A barrier is only used if the ninja who cast it intends to battle other ninja."
"What? You mean…" Leo asked as he gripped his katanas.
"Yeah." Asuka answered pulling out her blades. "Someone's picking a fight with us."
Suddenly, several ladies appeared as they crawled up from the side of the building. They looked like teenage girls, but they wore bizarre costumes. Their attires were canine, almost wolf-like even.
"So.. you ladies from New Jersey?" Leo asked.
"They're shinobi." Ikaruga said.
"Man, they're scary." Hibari quivered.
One of the wolf girls emerged from the crowd and started swinging around a pair of nunchucks.
"Ah." Mikey said with a grin. "A fellow chucker, eh?" He pulled out his own nunchucks and swung them around. Mikey and the shinobi exchanged tricks with their weapons until Mikey ended it by casually spinning his nunchucks around his finger. "Keep practicing."
While he did that, Donnie caught them by surprise with his bo staff. The rest of the ninja joined in on the battle on the rooftop. Since the barrier was up, none of the bystanders would be able to see them.
A few wolves went to strike at Leo, but the turtle managed to deflect their claws and monkey flip them over the edge of the roof. Raphael immobilized them by pinning their hands to the roof with his sais. It gave him the chance to continuously punch them in the face.
Michelangelo fell on his back with a devilish grin. "Hey, Donnie! Wheel of Fortune, dude!"
Donatello grabbed Mikey's feet and spun him around. He spun across the rooftop clashing and swinging his weapons at the wolves. When he stopped however, a new character appeared.
Some of the wolves moved away making room for one new shinobi. This particular girl was incredibly large, and instead of a wolf, she had on a bear costume.
"I guess they're not game show fans." Donnie said.
"And I thought everybody loved Vanna." Mikey said.
"You boys handle the big one." Ikaruga instructed. "We'll handle the rest." She joined her friends in fighting the wolf girls.
"Oh, sure. Leave us with the big bear." Donnie said.
"Well, you know what they say," Raph said, "The bigger they are…" He jumped to dropkick the bear girl, but his attack had no effect. He dropped to the ground in front of her.
"…The more bones they break." Leo added.
The bear girl picked Raph up and held him in a bearhug (ironically). Raph grunted and struggled to escape. Thankfully, his brothers helped him out. Donnie swung his staff at the shinobi's face while Mikey crouched behind her feet. She stumbled giving Raph the chance to break free and hit her with a headbutt. Leo finished it with one last kick that dropped their enemy flat on her back and unconscious.
Meanwhile, the Hanzo girls had already finished their job. Asuka finished the last wolf girl when the red field dissipated and everything went back to normal.
"Now, would someone mind telling me what's going on here?" Raph asked.
"What's with the wolves and the giant bear woman?" Donnie asked
"Yeah. She looked like YOUR MOM, DUDE!" Mikey laughed.
Donnie sighed. "Yeah, that would make her your mom too, doofus."
Suddenly, the wolves and bear shinobi blew up in a cloud of white smoke. And in their places were several figures shaped like people, but made of wood.
"Wait a minute." Ikaruga said as she bent to examine. "These are puppets."
"You mean someone was controlling them?" Leo asked.
"How?" Raph asked. "I'm pretty sure I didn't see any strings on them when we were kicking their butts."
"They're not stringed puppets." Katsuragi said. "There's a ninja art that allows one to remotely control any puppet they either create or claim. But that kind of art is advanced. None of us could do it."
"So someone else siced these giant dolls on us?" Donnie asked. "Who? Why?"
"We don't know." Asuka answered. "But I think this is the beginning of something big."
"Oh, this is scary." Hibari whimpered.
"Mmm." Said a girl from afar as she gazed through her binoculars. She was staring at Hibari with an interested grin. She had on a black schoolgirl uniform with a matching miniskirt. She also had fancy-brushed hair with a pink ribbon tying it together. "I like the pink-haired one. The way she trembles, I think she'll make a very good doll."
"That's what you're focusing on, Haruka?" asked the small girl with a matching uniform. She had long, black hair and a black eyepatch over her eye. "Not the giant turtles with shinobi skills?"
"Easy, Mirai." The one called Haruka said. "I can be interested in two things at once. And the way they handled all my dolls is quite impressive. I think I'll take one of those turtles as a doll. But which one?"
"I have to say, I am quite shocked at seeing turtles like that." Said another girl. She had green hair, but displayed no expression on her face. It was like a permanent face of indifference.
"You could at least look curious, Hikage." Said another girl. She had long, white hair and a porcelain-shined face.
"Would if I could, Yomi." Hikage said.
"Well, we certainly didn't prepare for this, but at least we got something out of this." Yomi said. "Though, I would've preferred if that spoiled princess got what she deserved."
"You'll have your chance at her, Yomi." Said the fifth girl. She had long, black hair tied to a ponytail and tanned skin. "We all will. But right now, we should head back to Hebijo and report this to the headmaster."
"You sure he'll take this well, Homura?" Mirai asked. "You know what happened to the last people who failed to deliver results to him."
"I'm aware." Homura said. "But we shouldn't worry. After all, we're the elite students at Hebijo Academy."
Author's Note: I originally intended for this to be two separate chapters, but I couldn't stop myself from combining them. Also, I would really appreciate it if someone gave me an idea for what to do next in my story. Perhaps them knowing the Hanzo girls better while dealing with the Hebijo girls or maybe even them meeting Daidoji already. If you've got an idea for future chapters, you can either request it in the comments or you can PM me.
Any and all comments are welcome.
