Tyrannosaur Escape

Three days have passed since the attack by the Pterodactyl. Vikki had managed to survive the encounter and in her victory she had gained not only food, but the skin of the dinosaur made suitable material to use to craft for her newly made quiver.

The Quiver took over a day to make. Vikki had to remember how to craft using the skin of an animal. One of the many lessons she took during her survival training was that if one finds themselves trapped either beyond enemy lines or in a location where one would be stuck for days or even more they would need to learn how to use the environment and anything that was within to their use.

In one instance how to use an animal's skin for crafting materials from clothing to any other necessary use. What she needed right now was a quiver to hold more arrows in. Within the day after she had taken down her attacker it was clear to her she couldn't simply carry a lot of arrows in hand when she would explore.

With enough food to sustain her for now she spent the day cutting a good amount of the skin of the Pterodactyl and stretched out the skin laying it upon a boulder to dry out the skin. After the day she spent a few hours tying a small bit of the skin together with vines. It was right difficult to tie it together without a needle and thread. What she had to do was make big enough holes in both ends of the skin and tied them together. It was a long and rather frustrating process.

Vikki pricked her fingers many times always cursing out as low as she could if she could avoid screaming to not attract any unnecessary attention then it would be a good idea. But after her days work she now had a makeshift quiver capable of holding at least over five arrows which would be more than suitable for now to have a defense against anymore attackers and to hunt for food.

The Day after that Vikki set upon her search for a possible Portal. She left the lake area where she made her camp at to search the surrounding lands of anything that could have a Portal or at least a clue to one.

She climbed hills to moving through woods and taking quick swims across low current rivers. She could see how massive the world was around her. Everywhere she looked dinosaurs were all over. Most of them were grazing about or moving to a new location. Most of the dinosaurs she saw hardly bothered with her. If any of them came close to her some would take a moment to sniff at her to see if she was a threat. Vikki made no threating gestures to any passing dinosaur as if she could avoid being hostile it would be the wise thing to do.

The Herbivores were rather friendly just like the stegosaurus she encountered where she made camp at. As long as she didn't appear as a threat to them they never bothered with her only with some curious sniffs. She even got the chance to pet a few of them which made them flinch from touch, but her gentle hand showed she meant no harm.

As fun as it was to mingle with some friendly prehistoric reptiles Vikki stayed on the task at hand. She had to find a way out of this world. As beautiful as it was danger lurked all over. The Encounter she had with the Pterodactyl made it clear for her that the longer she stays in that world the more likely she may end up a meal for a hungry predator. There was a reason why this world remained untouched as it was. Unless there was an army here it was far too dangerous to set up any kind of establishment.

Vikki continued her search staying within a three-mile radius of where she made her camp. With so much of the world to explore and with little to no way to document the lands and even map it out all she could do was keep an eye on anything specific that would make a suitable land mark to find her way back.

For the next twos there was no long. With the radius she had stuck to there was no sign of any portal. All portals would stand out easily with their glowing auras of color swirling like a soft running whirlpool. If there was one around it would easily be spotted, and they usually were against a wall of any kind. She searched along any rocky wall or hill she could see and found nothing.

It was disheartening as finding a portal would be much more difficult than originally anticipated. Back in her world portals were almost everywhere but since the end of the great war most of them were destroyed to prevent anyone from leaving the world and coming back from the other world they knew about with something that could be turned into a weapon of mass destruction and with the last few portals that were left they were under the careful watch of her father's army but that was until she encountered Bridgette and the portals that led to different worlds were under her control.

Back at her camp after another unsuccessful day Vikki sat by her hut sitting on the log crafting more arrows as she stared out into the lake. The Waterfall made a small looking rainbow appear off the splashes near the bottom. It was a lovely looking sight and the tiny lake made it a very suitable place to take a relaxing swim in.

Sometimes a herbivore or a group of dinosaurs would come walking through pasture and take some time to drink and bathe in the lake. Vikki would take cover in her hut just to be out of sight. Some Dinosaurs could get curious if they knew this part of the land was occupied by another.

This time however Vikki watched as a tall brachiosaur came walking by causing the ground to shake each time it took a step. The Green haired woman watched in awe as the towering dinosaur that stood like a living mountain as it went up to the lake and drunk from it.

"Wouldn't I give to have my camera." Vikki chuckled to herself. "I don't think I'll ever get use to this sight." Vikki rather did enjoy looking upon the magnificent creatures that were extinct in her world. If she discovered this world and wasn't banished to it as she was this certainly would have made her career since the great war.

She continued to craft a couple of more arrows as the brachiosaur finishing his drink before leaving the lake leaving, Vikki alone again. She looked upon a small stand she made seeing how she had only a small pile of meat left from the Pterodactyl that she had covered with many leaves to avoid anything from seeing it. Right now, that was the best food she had, and she was hungry.

The Sun was already going down by the time she had gotten a fire going and put a few pieces of meat upon the stick she used the turn over the fire pit she made. She spent a few minutes cooking the meat roasting them over an open fire until they were cooked to how she wanted them.

Vikki moaned at the taste of the cooked meat. It was without seasoning and it had been setting in place covered with leaves but cooking the meat made it very tasty all the same. Not a gourmet meal but it had filled her up from the days work at finding a portal.

But as she ate she thought about her loved ones back home. By now they have noticed she was missing. They would be looking for that was for certain but there was no way for them to find her. She was in an undocumented world. The Portal to it was unknown and the one that led to it that she was forced into was destroyed. There was no way for them to follow her even if they picked up a trail she could have left when she left her home.

"Stupid…so stupid!" Vikki growled as she tossed a piece of meat she was eating that was too hard to chew far across the field. Her enemy exploited her. Tricked her into that clever trap and exiled her. She was so gullible and desperate for a story that she should have known it was too good to be true. Her banishment was on her just as much as it was for her enemy for doing it.

"Hopefully tomorrow may find some kind of clue." Vikki hoped as she finished up the last of her meal and kicked dirt in the fire to put it out. The Sun was nearly all the way down and soon enough night would befall. There was little she could do out in night and from the beginning she knew it would be a bad idea to search at night. With only a torch to act as her light and with so many predators about it was far too risky.

Vikki crawled into her shelter taking one last look outside. The Moon was starting to rise over a near night sky as bugs began to chirp about with only roars from distant dinosaurs.

"Well good night." Vikki told herself as if she was speaking from another person. Already she was becoming quite lonely. It had been a few days since she was exiled but without someone to at least keep her company it was boring and rather sad. She could only rely on herself and couldn't even have someone to talk to.

Vikki laid her head down a small bed of leaves that acted as her pillow with her bow within arm's reach and the quiver she made with arrows in them leaning on the side of the wall. She soon fell asleep having a full belly and worked up to near exhaustion in her search for a portal. By tomorrow when she woke she would continue the search into other areas.

BOOM! BOOM! Vikki woke with a startle as the ground shook beneath her so much that she almost bounced. She was about to crawl out of the hut to see what was going on. But right when she rubbed her eyes she found out she was not alone in this area. There was something outside her hut and it wasn't something she wanted to see.

A Tyrannosaurus Rex was stalking the land looking for a meal. It had stopped at the lake to drink when the morning sun rose in the distance. But then something caught its nostrils. A Smell that was quite enticing. It turned its head over to where an odd-looking pile of ash laid with a strange looking bed of leaves were close to it.

It walked over to the spot where the scent was coming from. It leaned its great head down to the fire pit but then his nostrils picked up another scene. Just a few feet away there were leaves draped over something. It moved its snout over moved the leaves aside and found a little amount of meat. Immediately the Rex scooped up the bits of meat with its tongue and didn't even have to chew it and swallowed the last of the meat, Vikki had. It was about to move but then another scene caught its nose. It was a living being and it was close and coming from the large pile of leaves near it.

"Oh no!" Vikki gulped as she moved as far to the side as she could grabbing her bow and quiver of arrows putting them over her shoulders to keep out of sight of the T-Rex that had seemingly picked up the scent of her meat and now has caught her scene.

The Muzzle of the Rex came close to the entrance of the hut where it moved into it. Vikki shuddered in fear as she could see the massive teeth between the jaws of the Rex just a foot away from her. It didn't see her, but no doubt knew she was there. If she didn't do anything right now then all the Rex had to do was move its muzzle to its left and the moment it felt a living being within the hut it would easily snatch her up and feast on her.

She had to think of something. Her Arrows would definitely not kill the behemoth but if she could somehow distract it and make a good run to the woods nearby which had a small volcanic land just beyond it and it was the only area left for her to explore from the radius she made for herself when she spent the last couple days searching.

Vikki knew what she was about to do was both a great risk and possibly very foolish, but she had no other options at this moment. Very slowly she took out one of her arrows from her quiver taking a deep breath. There was no going back from this. She gripped the arrow hard turning over so that the head of the arrow faced down and she stabbed the Rex right above its upper jaw.

Right at the second the T-Rex threw its head upwards completely shattering Vikki's hut as it roared in pain by the sudden stabbing of something sharp. Right when the hut was destroyed around her Vikki made a dash for the woods running past the Rex as it stomped in fury and threw its head down on its left side rubbing the ground where the arrow was lodged into it breaking it apart leaving only the arrowhead pierced in.

It heard something behind it turning about to see a two-legged creature with green fur on its head running away. It roared in anger believing that creature was the one responsible for its pain and took off after it.

Vikki panted hard running as fast as she could taking a look behind her seeing that the T-Rex was in fury over what she had done. It was chasing after her and thanks to her distraction she was a good distance from it, but the T-Rex was already gaining on her. With its massive size it was easily catching up to her roaring more as it sought to make a meal out of her.

"What to do?! What to do?!" Vikki panicked as she run through the woods moving past trees and desperately trying not trip for if she fell then that would be her end. The Tree's around her did little to stop the massive predator as it pushed aside and stomped the trees down determined to get at its prey.

Vikki saw what looked to be a clearing that showed the volcanic land just ahead. She ran out into the clearing to see she was standing on a cliff that had a long drop down into a wasteland that was the volcanic area she saw. It looked rather steep with only a few long branches sticking out from the side of the rocky wall. She was trapped!

"Oh, god!" She panicked realizing there was only two ways off this cliff. She would either stay and be eaten or she would have to jump.

She looked back to see the Tyrannosaurus was just upon her. Its jaws were wide open ready snap at her the moment it got out from the woods. Vikki took a breath of courage and leapt over the edge just as the Rex snapped its jaws barely missing, Vikki by the tip of her hair as she went over the edge.

Vikki didn't even scream as she began to plummet down, but she reached out and grabbed one of the branches sticking out from the rocky grunting in pain as her weight nearly caused her to let go. She kicked her legs as she dangled in the air for the moment before she swung her legs up and wrapping them around the branch effectively locking herself onto the branch.

She looked up to see the T-Rex looking down at her as it tried to lean down after her, but she was too far down for its jaws to reach. If Vikki was standing on the branch it would have been able to take her head, but she stayed where was trying desperately to hold onto the branch.

The T-Rex roared down at Vikki in great anger as drool dripped from its maw some of it landing on, Vikki's face.

"Eww! Gross!" She gagged trying to resist the urge to wipe it off her face as she needed every part of her to hold onto the branch. With its prey out of reach and impossible to get the T-Rex raised its head back from the edge of the cliff and walked away its thundering footsteps fading out from each step.

"What a relieve!" Vikki sighed as adrenaline was high in her. She had not felt that tense since the previous dinosaur attack. It was amazing! She managed to get away from the T-Rex. But now she was now hanging on a branch off the side of a cliff.

"Better get from this!" She told herself grunting as she carefully crawled over the side of the wall. She let go of the branch with one hand and reached for a hanging rock. Once she had hold she took her left foot off the branch and placed it upon the side of the cliff where her toes and half her foot could stand. She did the same with her right foot and once it was planted she released her other arm from the branch and grabbed on the side of the mountain.

Vikki didn't wish to go back up for it was too dangerous with that T-Rex about so the best option at the moment was to go down.

She had down a lot of hiking on trails, hills and even mountains before and did some climbing before but that was when she was in full gear filled with safety straps and ropes now she was moving ever so carefully down the side of a cliff with only her feet and hands. One misstep could mean she would fall to the ground and break nearly every bone in her body if she fell from a high height.

The young woman breathed heavily as she was very afraid for her life. She couldn't tell what would be worse. To be eaten alive or fall to her death? She tried not to think about that and repositioned herself downward taking everything one step at a time.

Step by step she hugged the side of the cliff moving downward not even bothering to look down. She just kept herself as close to the wall as she could not wanting to imagine the consequence if she made a misstep.

She took another step but then something pricked her foot. "Yah!" She yelped in pain accidently pushing herself off the wall. In that moment she thought she had lost her life. She imagined falling to a painful end. She then felt the ground collide beneath her almost knocking the wind out of her and though she was slightly sore nothing felt broken.

"What the?" She said to look up to see where she stood on the edge was only a couple of feet from the ground. Vikki laughed in realization that she actually made to the bottom and in one piece. She was so thankful that she only fell when she was that close.

Getting back on her feet she turned around and saw where she was. She was standing in a dead land where the closest vegetation and foliage was either back up from where she climbed and in the far distance that had to be a few miles across a dead land with a volcano in it with a few rivers of lava going in different directions with hills scattered all over and the sky around was darkened by smoke and the air was rather thick and humid.

"No way am I going back up there!" Vikki stated as climbing back up the wall was too risky. She would have to go across this wasteland if she wanted to get back to the green areas.

Wiping some sweat from her brow she knew what she had to do here. "So much for a decent start to the day." She sighed in defeat and began her journey into the wasteland already feeling the intense heat come from it and only hoped she would get out of it just as quick as was getting away from the hungry T-Rex.
