An Unexpected Discovery
Vikki had long trekked through the jungle since she escaped the volcanic lands. She found a river where her eager thirst was quickly clenched and never had she been so grateful to drink water. Having been through such an arid wasteland that could not have even a drop of water in it she would never take the sight of water for granted again.
A Quick swim through the cool waters helped clean her off from the ash that stuck to her skin when she had traveled through the volcanic grounds. The Day was humid, but nothing would ever compare to the lands she barely got through without a singe.
That would be a story to tell if she could ever find her way home. How she was in nothing but a plain raggedy bikini and without footwear and yet she managed to avoid falling into lava pits and had to hop over rocks across a river to get through it. No one would surely believe her but with her being gone from home for so long someone would have to at least acknowledge her for some truths.
After fulfilling her thirst and taken the much-needed bath she continued on through the jungle. Dinosaurs were everywhere she looked. She made sure to keep herself hidden if she saw a Pterodactyl after the one that attack back where she made her first camp she would not take another chance.
It was rather foolish of her now that she had come to think about it to have camped in open ground like that. She may have a food supply and water, but it was grounds that anything could come through. It should have been obvious that it was only a matter of time before a Predator would come by.
First a winged beaked menace tried to dive bomb her then something far worse came. A Tyrannosaurus nearly made a meal out of her. It easily destroyed her shelter and almost ate her. Barely getting away as she did made, Vikki rethink of what she had to do if she was going to make camp again.
Surely she was going to need to find grounds with a nearby water source and where food could be gained but this time she needed somewhere a Dinosaur would not be likely to find her. But in this world that would be a challenge in itself.
Vikki did not really know where she was going. With no compass or any kind of knowledge of the land there was little she could do to navigate. It was simple to understand the land better when she had a base camp to return to after a day's exploration. But without any place that could be a temporary home she only believed the best option she had was to keep going as straight as possible.
The Green haired woman continued to move on. She avoided any confrontation with any dinosaur she saw. Sometimes she would stop for a moment to catch her breath and would look at a grazing or wondering herd through the trees or when she had to pass through a valley or meadow she would gaze upon the towering reptilian giants nothing could compare to the sight of the prehistoric beings. How she wished she had her camera to take a near endless amount of each dinosaur she saw.
While she continued her trek, she kept a firm eye out for a Portal. That was her main focus. A Portal could lead her back to her world or at least anywhere else that was far better than being trapped in a world where danger lurked in every direction.
The Risk of carnivores wanting to eat her and even the herbivores could either stomp on her or take defensive actions against her if she was deemed a threat. This world was not for anyone to live in but thinking back to land she went through perhaps that was not entirely accurate.
She saw signs of civilization at least partial signs. Someone in that land looked to be mining for resources. Which meant if there was a mine then they would take their claims from their excavation to somewhere.
That would be a good sign for Vikki which meant she was not alone in this world. But she didn't know who or what was living in this world other than dinosaurs. How was the civilization here if there truly was one? Were they open and welcoming or hostile to those that not of their own?
These questions went through Vikki's mind. It would be great to find someone in this world. Someone that could help her, but would it be worth the risk of reveling herself to them if she happens to find any sign of intelligent life? This World was unknown and filled to the brink with dangers. Who's to say the civilization here would be any different?
"What am I going to do?" Vikki asked herself as she moved through a less dense part of the jungle. The Sun was starting to go down in the distance. In a few hours it would be dusk. She would have to find a place to rest for the night but where would she make a shelter that would be a better safe haven than the last one?
"Curse you, Bridgette!" She snarled with hate in her voice. That old enemy of hers was the cause of her hardship. She should have had killed her when she had the chance years ago. But now she was trapped in this world because of her. She degraded her with the outfit she wears as her only piece of clothing. She had banished her while gloating over her future plans of taking over the other worlds beforehand.
Vikki had to escape this place. If she died there then all the evidence of the impending attacks would die with her. Or if she was in this world for too long then everything would be gone and under the control of her enemy. Then it would not matter if she was trapped in the Prehistoric world or not. Her enemy would have it all and Vikki would have nothing then.
Her determination renewed she carried on. She would search throughout every minute of the day till the night will come to find a portal. Even if a portal would take her somewhere else she would still have a better chance of getting home than by staying in a world were her life always was hanging by a thread.
Vikki thought back on the apparent civilization that could exist in this world. "Maybe if I appeal to them and show I am not a threat maybe they would help me?" She told herself. "But what if they are cannibalistic and savage?"
She shuddered at the thought. The dinosaurs themselves were dangerous enough but if any intelligent life was in this world anything was possible. They could be of good or bad natured. If she provokes a tribe, clan or anything that had more than one person residing they could try to kill her.
"Come on, Vikki! Make up you mind why don't you?!" She scoffed at herself coming to a stop and laid back against a tree to rest. She had walked for hours and only had a few drinks of water from rivers and ponds since her escape from the Volcanic land.
"Going to need to find some food then I better think of what to do for a shelter." She said but then a loud screech came from the jungle. She immediately got to her feet pulling out an arrow from her quiver and readied it in her bow.
She looked around keeping her eyes and ears sharp. The same screech was heard, and it sounded close. Vikki nearly dropped her bow to put her hands over her ears as the noise sounded like nails over a chalkboard and it made her skin crawl.
Then another sound was heard. It sounded like yelling. From close by just outside the jungle Vikki heard the sound of what could be described as a woman's voice. She heard the shouts of someone in the midst of a fight. Having been through many battles before Vikki knew the difference between the sound of someone in terror or distress to someone that was in a fight and staying strong through it.
She ran towards the sound of the noise past a few trees. Her instinct told her that she had to help whoever was that sounded like she was in a hard fight. Being a practical soldier herself it was trained into her mind that she must always help those in need from civilian to soldier it was a duty to uphold.
But as she continued to run to where the battle was taking place continuing to hear those horrid screeches and cries and the shouts of the female in the midst of a fight this did concern Vikki. Her theory on civilization in this world would possibly be accurate but how would this person react to her or any others when they see her?
She was getting very close as she left the tree's moved up to a small hill where the battle was taking place just over it. If Vikki could help in someway then perhaps it would show her good will and maybe prove she is not hostile to them and would kindly ask for their assistance. Either way she was going to help whoever sounded was in trouble.
Once Vikki got on to the top of the hill what she saw on the other side was beyond anything she expected to see. Upon the ground just below a short drop laid three dead velociraptors. They laid in piles of blood that came stab wounds to their heads and bodies. But there were more of them running around in the area.
Some broke from the others and attacked lone individual at the center. The Figure looked female considering how it had a small brown top wrapped around its chest and the lower area consisted of brown furred skirt that wrapped around lower body just shortly above her knees with one side hanging low.
She had a variety of sashes around lower arms and one on her left upper arm. And she seemed to have some kind of coverings on her feet that only covered the middle part of both of them. But amazed Vikki was that this woman was not human at all. Judging by her head and the tanned fur around her body she seemed to be a lioness. Or a Lioness to be corrected.
But that couldn't be right at all. Lions were animals. Feral creatures of nature. Yet this one she was looking at just out of view of the Lioness was walking like a human and fighting as one. The Lioness was holding a spear and snarling at the attacking raptors as each one tried to lunge at her.
She would jump or roll out of the way just before they could sink their teeth and claws on her. But there were many raptors around her. She swung her spear and thrusted it out at anyone of them that got close. Some she managed to stab causing them to back off but there not leaving her alone.
With so many raptors relentlessly prowling over the Lioness it would only be a matter of time before she could face a grisly end. Vikki didn't know how she would approach this. This Lioness was indeed someone of intelligent nature. That race had to be part of a civilization here or at least something of it. But how would she react if she made her appearance to her? Being human, she wouldn't know what she would do but right now the lioness was under attack and maybe if Vikki could help it may win her over to at least giving her some information.
Making up her mind Vikki quickly ran back to grab her quiver. She would need every arrow for this as the Raptors were nearly a dozen in number. She thought this was crazy but what other choice did she have? She needed any kind of help at this point and if some Lioness that walked on two legs and fought like a soldier could help her somehow then she would have to do this.
Hurrying back on the hill she found the Lioness had killed two more raptors, but the rest of the pack was still not backing down despite their losses. The Lioness still looked like she was still capable of fighting, but Vikki couldn't take a chance. All it would take is one strike or a hard bite from any of the attacking dinosaurs and she would be finished. She had to make her move.
As quiet as she could she carefully walked down the steep slope of the hill and crawled behind a boulder. She readied the arrow she had from before and waited. She watched the fight and was continuously impressed with Lioness's skill. She didn't seem like no private fresh out of boot camp. She had some scars over her body indicating she had seen many fights be it she won them or not she was seasoned in combat. Perhaps it was how she was standing against an entire pack of raptors.
But Vikki could wait anymore. She watched Lioness's back was turned against an oncoming Raptor as she tried to fend off one in front of her. If the Raptor got her from behind it would all be over.
Vikki dashed over the boulder forgetting to grab her Quiver and jumped into the air and pulling back the bowstring and shot the Raptor in the back of its neck. It screeched in pain catching the Lioness's attention.
She was surprised by the sudden shot that had incapacitated the Raptor. She noticed the arrow in the back of its neck and then saw who was the one that fired close by. She saw a green haired human woman!
"By the Spirits!" She gasped as this human looked rather different than other humans she had seen. Never had she seen one with long green hair. Her outfit seemed to be different as it was peculiar design, but she had a bow in her hands, and she had to be the one who saved her from getting attacked from behind.
"Behind you!" Vikki pointed in warning as a Raptor came close behind the Lioness. She quickly turned around and stabbed it through its chest with her spear. It screeched pain as she thrusted her spear in more and twisted causing the dinosaur to drop dead yanking out her spear.
With the Raptor pack suffering many losses they began to scatter. Most ran the opposite way of the Lioness while a couple of others took off from her left and right into the jungle. Vikki smiled seeing the Raptors finally flee from the Lioness she had saved her from what could have been a fatal attack.
Her blood was pumping, and the adrenaline surged through her when she made that leap and letting loose her arrow that incapacitated the raptor that would have gotten the lioness from behind. It wallowed on the ground in pain trying to reach for the arrow lodged in its neck, but the Lioness finished it by stabbing through its head with her spear.
Once she took her spear out she looked at the one who had helped her giving her a kind smile. The Human looked rather beautiful for someone of her kind certainly she had earned her attention for her selfless act of helping her.
She started to walk over letting her muscles ease and her facial expression calm. She didn't want the human to feel she was in danger. But right she when was coming close she saw one raptor creep up behind the unsuspecting human. Vikki was giving the lioness a kind smile unaware that a raptor still desired to make a meal out of one of them.
"Look out, human!" The Lioness shouted making, Vikki turned around just in time to see a Raptor come at her with its mouth wide open she threw up her bow to protect herself and the Raptor chomped on it with so much pressure it shattered down the middle and, Vikki moved to her left to narrowly avoid being bitten next.
However, the Raptor may have missed her with its teeth it was not letting this prey get away. It rammed the human so hard that she was thrown up into the air and came down onto a rock that her head collided hard on it.
The Pain was so overwhelming that Vikki could barely stay awake. The Raptor then saw its opportunity and ran towards the human intending to sink its teeth into her. But just before it could get close enough to bite a long sharp spear penetrated the back of its neck.
It screeched out a deathly cry as the Lioness had saw what had happened with the human and was not going to let the one who had helped her die. She ran and leaped up and stabbed her spear right into raptor letting it cry out before it perished tossing the corpse of one of the worlds fiercest predators onto the ground joining the many others that fell to her spear.
After making sure it was dead the Lioness came up to the green haired human who she saw fell into unconsciousness. She looked the human over to see if she was injured in any other pace. Moving her head carefully she felt the back of, Vikki's head feeling a nasty bump but thankfully no blood.
"It could have been so much worse." She said glad to see the human would be alright. But the question was why did the human help her? Not that she was not unappreciative of her actions, but it had been some time since she seen human and this one was not like the humans she knew.
The way her skin looked showed she had not seen the sun as often as most. Her two-piece outfit was made of material that was foreign to her. Such a peculiar looking female. She would have to ask her many questions but for now she needed to be cared for.
"Come along, love. Ill take you to a safe place." The Lioness cooed reaching under, Vikki's arms and legs and picked her up gently. She held her close to her chest and walked off with her. She left her spear behind as she couldn't carry it with the humans in her arms, but she had nothing to fear with the Raptors gone with many of their numbers lost they would not attack twice and where she made her home was close by and it was a safe ground. She would have many questions for the human but the first thing she would wish to tell her was her thanks for her selfless act that was worthy of respect and a return of the favor by helping her too.
