They won.

He was still having a hard time processing it.

It felt like merely yesterday that Zatanna came to him with the news that one of his best friends could actually be alive, and even then Dick could hardly believe himself. Fast forward barely a week later and now he and his friends were standing next to the altar as Conner Kent and M'gann M'orzz exchanged their wedding vows.

Call him Gwen Stacy because he felt like he was about to die from whiplash.

Dick's eyes were locked on Zatanna the entire time, almost completely tuning out the beautiful speeches being delivered right in front of him. She eventually noticed his gaze and turned a deep red, winking back at him subtly while he smiled.

Dating for three years now and sometimes he still couldn't believe his eyes. She looked absolutely stunning, even compared to the other bridesmaids surrounding her. He wondered if it would ever be them in the middle, with their friends bearing witness as Alfred proclaimed her Zatanna Zatara-Grayson. He certainly hoped so…but then again, the ball was kind of in his court for that to happen.

"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."

Everyone cheered as the half-Kryptonian and White Martian locked lips, and Dick was snapped out of his trance to join in the applause. Conner jokingly dipped M'gann mid-kiss, much to the crowd's enjoyment, and some of the younger heroes jumped up to celebrate when he carried her off the stage.

"Ooh, I wanna throw the bouquet!" He laughed before depositing her to her feet and stepping aside as she flung the sack of flowers behind her head without warning. To everyone's surprise, Icicle Jr. was the one to catch it, and Conner subtly sent him a thumbs up when he smiled with terrifying glee.

With the formalities out of the way, the impressive audience of heroes got out of their seats and began mingling with one another in the front lawn of the Kent-Morse household. Once the whole crew stepped off stage, Wally patted Conner on the back and threw an arm around Dick's shoulders. "Congrats, SB. The first of us to make it, huh?"

"I can still remember the day the three of us busted you outta that lab in Cadmus together."

"And now look at us, ten years later as we celebrate your nuptials."

The clone chuckled. "Well once these two finish planning the wedding I'll be more than happy to have Wally join me." On that cue, Artemis pinched the speedster's side and grinned.

"We're working on it. But today's about you guys. And I'm pretty sure you've got a dance to get to." M'gann smirked at her best friend, and whether it be to prove a point or just because she could, she levitated Conner into the sky before floating after him to have their first dance 16 feet in the air. Artemis rolled her eyes. "Show off." Everyone laughed as they started waltzing in midair, and Dick threw an arm around Zatanna's waist while taking a sip from his drink.

Despite being incapable of flight, the half-Kryptonian felt perfectly at home in the air. Unbeknownst to many others he actually despised sky travel, but being under the telekinetic grasp of the love of his life made him feel more comfortable than ever as they moved back and forth, using the air as their personal dance floor. He even laughed when she spun him around like a salsa dancer. She tugged him back to her embrace after a few more twirls and they entered a much more traditional square dance position with his hand around her waist while hers went to his shoulder.

At this point the song was well over, but the newlyweds were still in the air. A few more seconds of watching them elegantly maneuver the skies and Bart whispered something into Vic's ear. Vic used his technopathy to link up to the stereo set, and a few seconds later M'gann's pop star album began blasting at max volume. From up in the sky, M'gann nearly dropped Conner from the surprise but they both laughed before floating back down and joining their friends as they danced on the lawn, not a care in the world that their music could be heard from miles away.

Conner's arms found their way to M'gann's waist while hers went up behind his neck, and despite the upbeat music in the background they kept their dance rather slow, opting instead to sway back and forth with one another.

"I love you, M'gann." She got up to her toes to kiss her now-husband before resting her head on his broad chest.

"I love you too, Conner."

"You look amazing." She blushed.

"Zatanna and Karen picked the dress out." He wasn't surprised. Out of all her bridesmaids, the magician and the scientist were the two most fashionable.

"Can't believe we finally did it."

"I know. It's been ten years in the making, but we're here now."

"I was hoping we could leave for our honeymoon the day after tomorrow." M'gann hummed in agreement, but was curious as to where he was taking her. He sensed her curiosity through the mindlink and smiled before clarifying. "I got us tickets to Fiji. You've always wanted to go there so I figured it'd be-"

He was cut off with a chaste kiss from the Martian, who planted her arms firmly on his shoulders while he leaned back and pulled her with him, silently giggling into each other the whole time.

From the snack bar, Wally ate a piece of pie as he watched Zatanna and Artemis move together under the beautiful twilight sky, and he looked to his side to see his best friend next to him with a drink in hand.

"Do you think it's weird how comfortable our girlfriends are in each other's arms?" The acrobat chuckled but shook his head as he sipped his drink.

"I used to, but then I made the mistake of inviting Artemis to some of our night outs. Now I'm used to it. I think she might've danced more with her than me at this point."

"Oof. Well, I don't blame her. Artemis is Artemis, and you kinda look like a street rat."

The speedster rubbed his arm in pain when Dick punched him, cackling the whole time.

"Wait, when did you invite Arty to clubs with you two?"

"Oh, it was when you…y'know…"

The air around the two best friends suddenly went bitterly dry, but Wally broke the tension with a smile and a hand on Dick's shoulder.

"Thank you for looking out for her. And for looking out for yourself."

He shook his head. "I didn't. After you…after it happened, I was pretty lost. But Zee didn't give up on either one of us. She started taking us out with her to try and get our minds off what had happened…and eventually she and I found our something with each other again." Dick smiled while his eyes traced over his girlfriend, laughing with Artemis while they moved back and forth to the beat. "I might just be the luckiest guy on Earth."

"I'm pretty sure that exact sentence has been uttered by everyone who's dating the love of their life." Wally took a bite out of his pie. "But yeah. You're pretty damn lucky. If you ask me, she could do a lot better than you."

A wide smile spread to Dick's lips as he draped an arm over Wally's shoulders. "I know I've said this before…but I'm really fucking happy you're back, Wall."

What followed was a rather heartwarming embrace between the redhead and raven, broken off far too soon for either one's liking.

"Yeah. Me too."

Their eyes traced over the vivid scene in front of them until Wally spotted a rather jarring couple on the dance floor.

"Wait…is Raquel dancing with Orion? " Dick looked off to the side, and sure enough, their teammate was rather casually getting down with a New God.

"Huh. Thought I saw something between them."

Wally shook his head in disbelief while Dick bit back a smirk. The former Boy Wonder let his eyes drift over his friends - his family - and his lips curled up into a massive smile as he thought back to the countless things they had to get right in order to all be standing here today.

They freed Conner from his Cadmus pod, claimed their independence, and started this team together.

They stopped Vandal Savage from exploiting the immense danger of a mind-controlled Justice League.

They saved the Earth from an alien invasion, albeit at immeasurable personal cost.

They worked to undo the dangers of meta-trafficking and prevented a greater evil from getting his hands on the Anti-Life Equation.

They freed a lost friend from the prison of the Speedforce, reuniting him with his family.

They defied all odds to bring back one of their own from hell itself and, with his help, prevented an army of evil Supermen from conquering the planet.

And along the way, they forged lifelong relationships and romances, some of which had blossomed into beautiful families and others that were only just beginning to sprout wings.

After all the torment, all the fighting, they finally won. They persevered, they found peace. They found love with each other, and he was at long last…happy.

He should've known it wouldn't last.
