Link and I easily rose to the challenge of the tower, as easy as it was. All it took really were some kind words to Midna and some solid footing. Getting outside was simple too. I took care of the Keeses with a few easy shots from my Foxfire while Link made the jumps, and then I followed him out. Midna smiled at me as I landed on the roof by Link.

"Well, look at that. You make up for being a crappy swimmer by being an impressive jumper." She remarked. I raised an eyebrow.

"Thanks? I guess." I wasn't sure what to think about such an insulting compliment. Link shrugged, and started forward as Midna got him moving.

"See that tower over there? At its peak is the girl I want you two to meet. You especially, Foxy. Even if you already know who she is." Midna pointed out. I kinda figured she'd want Zelda to know about me, considering how much I know. Midna's probably gonna be amazed by my origins.

Together the three of us moved across the rooftops. Shadow Kargoroks were alerted of course, but dealt with by a simple one-two combo from Link's pounce and my Foxfire. I personally didn't feel like trying out those monster's dicks. I think they may be a bit big for me anyways. When we made it across the roofs, Link jumped into Zelda's tower first. I followed closely behind.

When we reached the top, Link nosed his way through an open door, and I slipped in after him. At first, he seemed on guard from the person standing in a hooded robe by the window. I rolled my eyes at his defensive stance, and trotted past him.

"Yo, wassup Princess." I greeted casually. I glanced around at her room, admiring the quality. "Nice Gilded Cage you've got here. Hope you haven't been too lonely up here." I added. Zelda was already quick to turn around with a shocked gasp when I said hi. She stared at me for a second, before glancing at Midna.

"Midna?!" Zelda stared, clearly shocked.

"Aw, how nice. You remembered my name… it's an honor." Midna just as casually remarked. Zelda then returned her gaze to me and Link.

"...So these are the ones you were looking for?" Zelda asked.

"I had my doubts, but the fox here apparently already knows everything. So if she says the doggie is actually the reincarnated hero, well… I guess we'll have to make due with what we've got, right?" Midna answered. Link raised an eyebrow.

"The heck is that supposed to mean?" He objected. Zelda kneeled to inspect us. As she looked over me, I could legitimately sense her curiosity.

"And how is it you know things?" Zelda asked.

"I'm an observer from another world. The specifics are a bit much to get into here, but I suppose if you wanted to get a study of my world, I wouldn't object to you joining us on this adventure. I know you're on a tight schedule here, what with that guard coming to check up on you here in a minute." I told her. Zelda sighed sadly.

"As much as I wish to take you up on that offer, I'm afraid I must remain here. To protect my people." Zelda declined.

"From what? A madman with a childish temper that you could outwit with a simple snap of your fingers? Wisdom is Worthless without the courage to act on it. Power is Blind without the Wisdom to guide it. And Courage is Hopeless without Power to back it up. You're smart, princess. Come up with a plan. You have resources now, so use them." I snapped at her. She stared at me with a dropped jaw. Midna whistled, impressed.

"Damn, girl. You've got guts to talk to a princess like that." Midna commented. Zelda looked down, seeming to think. Then, she laughed. It sounded bittersweet.

"The creed of Unity. It's been so long since I've heard it, I'd forgotten it existed. And to hear it from a Kitsune of another world…" Zelda laughed.

"Wait what-" I was a little bit taken off guard. I didn't quite understand what she meant by that. Midna seemed curious too, though she definitely noticed how I clearly lacked knowledge of it.

"Oh, finally. Something she is surprised by. I knew there had to be something you didn't know." Midna smugly teased.

"Oh can it, you royal imp. I only know what happens in the event that I don't exist in this world." I shot back. Zelda takes a breath as she stands up to get our attention.

"The Triforce has always been a creation of the gods. There have always been only 3 that the Golden Goddesses made. What few know and what hasn't been recorded in history is the existence of a fourth made entirely by mankind. The Triforce of Unity. It is said that those who bear it know the darkest secrets of our world. I've even heard rumors of the bearers of Unity having the ability to control time." Zelda explained. She then leaned down again, lifting my right paw, and tracing over a vague shape on it, causing the shape to shine suddenly. I stared in shock. I had a Triforce…

"So it seems you bear the Triforce of Unity. In that case… I will gladly join you on your journey. You are correct in stating what I know… Zant will hurt my people if I leave. But it will be the people he has already been hurting. And I have reason to believe you know how to save them from what Zant has been doing to them." Zelda said. Needless to say, I was stunned. I didn't know where to start with all that info.

"So, miss Oracle. What's next?" Midna asked.

"Uh. Right… I'm pretty sure we need to get Link a shield… Zelda, do you have weapons with you?" I asked, going on automatic. I was still processing just how pivotal to this story I'd become.

"...I do not. But I had heard Ordon Village was sending a representative bearing a sword as a gift for the royal family." Zelda admitted. Thinking over what to do about that, I thought over the risk of checking the Master Sword. I know the First Link started with it essentially, but this Link only got it halfway through his adventure, definitely strong enough to handle a fully powered master sword. Mostly.

"You're in luck. Link here is that representative. The thing is though, we'd need to go back to Ordon to pick it up. Link, I know this will leave you without a sword, but I know where we can get the Master Sword. I'm just not sure if you're prepared to handle it yet." I rattled off. Midna giggled.

"I've got transport handled. I'll take you back once you're all ready." Midna offered. I smiled at her thankfully.

"And then once we get to Ordon… There's a couple things I want to take care of. Princess, would you mind coming with me to translate? I know as a beast, most folks that don't know magic won't be able to understand me." I requested.

"Oh yeah, that's right. You tried to stop those monsters that came and kidnapped the kids. I guess it'd be nice if everyone left knew things were gonna be okay." Midna speculated. I nodded.

"Not to mention Mayor Bo has a key item Link is gonna need for getting through Death Mountain to save their patriarch." I added.

"I'd be happy to help. I will do what I can." Zelda agreed. Happy with that, I took a deep breath.

"Then let's-" I cut off as I heard a door swing open and footsteps echoing from the spiral staircase. "The guard."

"We don't have time to jump out the way we came for a subtle escape." Link noted. I cursed.

"No time like the present then. Let's get this Sequence Break started." I said, turning to Midna. Midna nodded with a cheeky grin.

"Try not to throw up on the other said, 'kay?" She warned. I didn't get a chance to respond. Before I knew it, I felt my body lock up, and then start to squeeze itself through a straw. By the time it was over, my awareness had gone through 50 different perspectives, and it messed with me so fucking bad. I just flopped into the spring, nauseous as fuck. Zelda leaned down, hand glowing as she looked over me. The nausea faded.

"Mmph. Thanks." I muttered as I got back up. I looked around, and though I knew Midna was nowhere to be seen, I did notice Link's shadow seemed to be acting a bit oddly. It didn't flicker like the rest of ours.

"Where's Midna?" Link asked. I glanced at his shadow.

"She's here. She's got a few tricks to make sure the light doesn't horribly burn her." I answered. Link winced.

"Jeeze, is it really that bad for the people from the Twilight Realm?" He asked dubiously. Zelda sighed.

"Unfortunately it is. You do not want to see radiant burns." Zelda said, shaking her head. Midna spoke from Link's shadow.

"You got that right. I'll just be staying in your shadows unless you need me, alright?" Midna said. With that, I lead the way into the village. Link decided to speak up on the way though.

"Uh… any idea why we're still beasts?" Link asked me. I just shrugged.

"Honestly, I don't think I ever got the exact lore of why. Something to do with a curse. All I know is, we'll be turning back once we save Faron from their fate. Oh yeah, and touching the Master Sword can cure it as long as you're not still in the cursed twilight." I told him.

"Well that's pretty good to know." Link said. We paused as we spotted one of the Bulblins. I glanced at Link.

"...I kinda forgot these guys were still here. Let's clean up the cleanup party, shall we?" I said. Link nodded, and jumped at the monster before it noticed him, pinning it to the floor. I followed up with a foxfire bolt straight to its heart. That seemed to kill it, making it fade to dust. Once it was gone, I hurried ahead with the others following right behind me. Then we came up to Link's house. There were two monsters here. This time I let Link focus on one while I took out the other. I decided to have a little fun with it though, and tried to see how many times I could juggle the Bulblin with my fire before it imploded into ash. As I counted, Link came over to see me smiling in sadistic Glee.

"...I think it's dead, Gilda." He stated simply. I finally let it drop and vanish into ash.

"Oops. Guess I got lost in trying to juggle it with my attacks." I carelessly said with a shrug.

"I guess I see where you're coming from. It can be fun to count your combos." He admitted. Then he and Zelda started going ahead into the village. I saw Zelda glance back at Link's house as she followed, seeming interested in the house. I joined up with them. Once we made it into the village propper, I looked around to see where everybody was. Mayor Bo and Jaggle were discussing something in front of Jaggle's house, Hanch was by the Hawk grass on the upper rocks, miserably crying… and Rusl and Uli were by Rusl's house.

"So this is Ordon. It is one thing to view the world through a pictograph… it is another, I suppose, to actually visit in person." Zelda commented. "If it weren't for the tense situation, this place might have been a happy and welcoming place to stay."

"It is. I enjoyed growing up here. I wouldn't be the man I am today without the villagers who raised me here." Link responded.

"I am sure you're going to miss this place…" Zelda added. Link stayed silent in that regard. I took that as my cue to get moving, and headed over to see Mayor Bo. I looked towards Link.

"You and I should probably stay out of sight until Zelda explains what's happened to us." I advised him. Begrudgingly, he nodded. I stopped just outside the torchlight, while Zelda stepped into it. Mayor Bo and Jaggle stopped their conversation as Zelda stepped into the light.

"Don't worry. You and the others in this village should be safe now. The one you call Link has made certain of that." Zelda told them. The two of them went wide eyed at the mention of Link.

"Link is back?! Where is he?" Bo asked.

"And the Otherworlder? Gilda, I think she's called?" Jaggle asked. Zelda gestured for us to come forward.

"They have been cursed. Please do not fear what they have become. The curse can be lifted at a later time." Zelda told them as we stepped into the light. To make it easier to be less afraid of me, I sat on my haunches. Bo and Jaggle looked between the two of us before settling on Link.

"That's… oh, Link… Gilda…" Bo seemed to lament. I yapped when he said my name, and got back up, trotting up to Bo and brushing past his legs like a cat.

"So… who are you?" Jaggle asked. I was a bit disappointed they didn't get distracted and start petting me, but eh. Not the end of the world.

"...I am Zelda." Zelda answered as she lowered her hood. That immediately made Bo and Jaggle drop their jaws. They hurried to bow, and I got out of Bo's way so he could. "There is no need to bow. I no longer hold my crown. Hyrule has… fallen." Zelda told them. Hesitantly, No and Jaggle stood back up.

"Do you… know what happened to the children?" Bo asked. At that, I spoke up.

I Quickly spoke up, but Bo and Jaggle looked at me, confused.

"Uh… Gilda, honey, we can't understand ya." Jaggle interjected.

"I can." Zelda stated. "She tells us that she taught the young ones some techniques, so that they can escape. By her predictions, those other than the one called Illia can be found safe in Kakariko Village. Illia herself though is said to be in Castle Town by the time the influence of the Twilight has been fought off."

"So they're all gonna be okay then… h-how do ya know, Gilda?" Bo asked. I rattled off a quick excuse, which Zelda translated for me.

"She has explained it simply as… time shenanigans. I am unsure what that means, but I can only assume she intends to say time travel has been involved." Zelda explained for me. I just nodded at that. Then I turned to ask Zelda to request the Iron Boots.

"Hey… since we're eventually gonna be scaling Death Mountain, do you mind asking mayor Bo about his little secret that he used to gain the Goron's trust? He's got a pair of iron boots that Link will be needing so he can do the same. The Goron's have been affected by the Twilight too. Their patriarch, Darbus, has a Fused Shadow." I requested.

"Gilda does have a request for you, Bo. I'm told you have a secret technique you used to earn the Goron's trust. An item? According to her, their patriarch has been influenced by the Twilight, causing the Goron tribe as a whole to become distrusting of the outside." Zelda translated for me. Bo looked quite shocked.

"So she knows about that too? Hmm… Tell you what. Y'all come back human, and I'll be here to test you for it. I ain't gonna just give 'em up cuz you asked nicely, you hear?" Bo told me. I sighed, but nodded.

"They're more for Link than for me. I'll just look for another way up there." I replied. Zelda summarily translated.

"Alright. Now, y'all get goin then. If ya know how to fix this, I'm looking forward to the results." Bo said, standing tall. I nodded, and turned to leave when Jaggle spoke up.

"Wait. Link is gonna need a shield when he turns back to normal. Hold on right there, I'll go get it." Jaggle headed into his house. He came out a few minutes later with the Ordon shield. Link looked pretty happy when he got it. Tail wagging, pose and everything. Jaggle leaned over to Bo.

"Is it bad that I wanna pet him when he looks so happy like that?" Jaggle asked. Mayor Bo looked conflicted too.

"I dunno, Jaggle. I feel it too." He responded. I rolled my eyes and yapped at them, before lightly headbutting Bo. Finally, he gave in and bent down to pet me. "Guess Gilda wants it."

"Huh. Whoda thought she'd be inta that kind of thing." Jaggle commented. Zelda smiled too.

"She does seem to enjoy being a Kitsune. Perhaps the curse is more of a blessing to her." Zelda speculated. She wasn't wrong. I did enjoy being soft and fluffy. I pouted a bit when Bo stopped giving me ear scratches.

"Well, y'all should probably be on your way then. I won't hold you up any longer." Bo said. I nodded understandingly.

"Okay, but when this is all over, I'm coming back to you for more." I told him. Zelda didn't translate, but Bo seemed to understand the basic message.

"When it's all over, Gilda. I'll see you again." Bo answered. With that, I turned and left him.

"Well. That went about as I expected. Can I still say I'm disappointed that he didn't just give us the boots if I already knew he still wanted to test us for it?" I asked.

"Nope." Midna answered. I sighed, rolling my eyes as Link laughed.

"Let's at least let Rusl know we're fine then. Then we can go." I said, heading towards Rusl. Link and Zelda followed. Once we got to Rusl's house, I once again stopped outside the torchlight. Link stopped with me as Zelda went forth.

"You need not worry about the children." Zelda said, interrupting Rusl and Uli's discussion. Zelda looked at Rusl, easily spotting his wounds. "You are injured… I'm sorry."

Rusl was surprised to see Zelda. "Princess Zelda…? But why have you come? Uh… don't get me wrong, you're welcome here, but I was led to believe there wasn't any reason for you to leave the castle?" He asked, while trying to bow. Zelda sighed.

"I had believed so too. At least until an acquaintance of yours reminded me of the fallacy of order in ruin. Hyrule has fallen, but together we will take it back." Zelda told him. I took that as my cue to enter the torchlight. Rusl was too stunned by the fall of Hyrule to properly react. Zelda capitalized on that. "Gilda here has a message for you. I've come as a translator due to her current form."

"Gilda?" He looked at me in confusion. I nodded at him with a yap. Then I turned to Zelda for the message.

"She wishes to apologize for withholding information in regards to the future of our world. She's explained that she couldn't decide between continuity or compassion." Zelda translated for me. Rusl looked hurt.

"Gilda… you knew? You knew the kids were going to be taken?" He asked. I sighed, but nodded. I rattled off an explanation for Zelda to translate.

"She says the day before it was to happen, she gained the courage to act on what she knew would happen… but ultimately did not have the power necessary to change anything. She has vowed to take responsibility for this failure and do everything she can to correct it." Zelda told Rusl. Then she smiled. "It is… a commitment I can appreciate. I too have had to deal with such a conundrum. Knowing of Ganon's return… I have long had to choose between following my duty or following my heart. And until recently, I did not believe I had a choice."

"I… see." Rusl frowned in thought. Then he looked down at me. "Then I will believe in you, Gilda. If there is anything you need, do not hesitate to ask." I nodded at him. Rusl then looked at Zelda. "Do you know if she will be able to change back? It's a bit concerning to see Gilda transformed as such."

"Yes. The Light Spirits are capable of breaking this curse. But first we must save them from the fate they've fallen to." Zelda answers.

"And Link? Is he okay?" Rusl asked.

"He too has become cursed into the form of a beast. But likewise the curse can be lifted." Zelda answered as Link stepped into view. Rusl sighed in relief.

"I am glad… I suppose Hyrule is in good hands. I will join you as soon as I am able. But for now… I must heal." He gestures to his wounds. Link nods in understanding, barking in response. Rusl chuckles, taking a minute to lean down and pet Link. He at least seemed to appreciate the gesture.

"Then rest, Rusl. We will meet again." Zelda bid farewell. After that, she turned to leave. I followed, and Link joined us shortly after.

"Okay. The hard part's out of the way. Now let's go save Faron." I said. Link nods as Zelda takes a deep breath to prepare herself.

"Hard part?" Midna asked incredulously. I sighed.

"It's always hard to deal with your own guilt." I explained. Midna strangely didn't have a snarky retort for that. Zelda put a hand on my… back? Shoulders? It had that effect at least.

"To that, I can agree. It is never easy to make these decisions. We can only live on and hope that the consequences of our choices aren't as bad as we fear." Zelda added. I smiled.

"I'm glad you joined us. The Triforce of Wisdom suits you." I told her. Zelda smiled back. As we made our way back to Faron though, I stopped in front of Ordon's spring. We all heard Ordona's voice calling to us.

"Holders… of the Triforce…" I immediately turned to enter Ordona's spring instead of stopping.

"Normally I'd skip the dialogue, but I don't feel like hunting shadow bugs in Ordon. Let's beat up a Twilit Messenger and take over that warp point up there." I replied. Midna laughed.

"Man, it's nice having somebody on top of things. Alright, let's see how this goes." She grinned as she prepared to watch. I got ready to kick ass as Link follows me into the spring. The pillars dropped, creating the fence keeping us in… and three Twilit Messengers fell into the arena. I raised an eyebrow.

"Okay, that's different. I was expecting just one." I commented. Zelda frowns.

"This may have been because of my escape. Zant no longer has a reason to hold back." Zelda advised.

"Makes sense." I replied as I blasted one of them in the face with fire. Link leaped at the other, and started tearing into it, so I simply waited, baiting the monster into attacking me, and dodging. "My presence in this world does have consequences. Guess from now on we should avoid splitting the party. Especially if things get redesigned for more than just one hero and his…" I glanced at Midna. She probably would take offense to "sidekick". Maybe a partner? Or… "Guide." I finished.

"Redesigned?" Zelda asked. Link looked at me questioningly as he finished off his target.

"Let's just say most of what happens in the coming days was on a script that I've broken. Obviously a broken script needs to be improvised." I explained. Zelda nodded at that. Link pounces at the second monster, and as he does I sidestep another attack and go for my own lunge. Together, we ripped the two remaining monsters apart. The three monsters burst into twilit fragments that soon shot up into the sky. I grinned.

"Well, it seems you even know how to beat those guys, foxy." Midna smirked. I shrugged.

"Yeah. But for future reference, Link… If you leave the last one alive, he'll just scream and revive the rest." I tell Link. He nods to acknowledge it.

"Thank you, heroes. But the journey has only just begun. Young Gilda… you know what has befallen Hyrule. You know what is to come. But beware the events that have changed. You cannot prepare for everything, and must learn to adapt. Good luck, bearers of the Triforce." Ordona said. I nodded.

"I'll do my best." With that, I turned to look at the rest of the party. "Let's go get the master sword and save Faron."
