The rain fell against the glass windows of the car. Taylor shifted uneasily as the black limo they were in pulled up next to the gravesite. One by one the members of the squad got out, adjusted their dress uniforms and slipped their hats on. They walked to the back of the waiting hearse; nobody saying a word as they carefully pulled the flag draped coffin out.

Soon Taylor, Doc, Carlos, Jimmy, DK, Lombardo, and Walsh walked slowly to the gravesite.

The gravestone read:

CAFFEY Beloved Son and Brother 1972 ROBERTO 2001

After a few Bible passages, and a couple of prayers, Bobby was laid to rest. The Squad made their way back to the limo and back to the House. They milled around a bit, Jimmy and Lombardo left. DK eventually made his way out. Walsh walked back into the kitchen, his dress shirt's top button unbuttoned.

"You still here?" He asked

"Yeah, didn't feel much like going home you know?" Taylor asked as she fiddled with her empty water bottle against the surface of the table.

"You wanna go get some coffee or something?" He asked

Taylor looked up, "Sure." She replied

"Alright, I'll drive, if you don't mind being seen in a Jeep." He playfully said

Soon they were in a little diner not far from the Fire House.

"What can I get you two?" The waitress asked

Taylor put her menu down, "Can I have a piece of the Double Chocolate cake and a cup of coffee please?" Taylor asked

Walsh looked at her and smiled, "I'll have the same."

"Okay, two coffees and two pieces of Double Chocolate cake coming up." The waitress smiled

"You okay?" Walsh asked

Taylor had been staring out into the street that now had a light snow falling.

"Yeah, I don't know. It just doesn't seem right you know?" Taylor asked

"You mean not fair?" Walsh asked

"Yeah, you know, he was a good guy. Beware of the Ides of March I guess" She replied

"Okay Ms. Shakespeare." Walsh laughed, "He was a good guy. Wanted you pretty bad."

"Don't remind me." She said

The waitress came back with the coffee and cake. She sat them down on the table.

"Are you firefighters?" The waitress asked

"Yeah, we work at Squad 55." Walsh replied

"That's nice. If you need anything else, just let me know." The waitress added

"Okay." Taylor said

She sunk her fork into her cake and slowly took a bite. Walsh watched her.

"He wasn't the only one." He smiled

Taylor looked up at him. The continued to make small talk and the waitress refilled their coffee. Two hours went before they realized it. Walsh paid the bill and then he took Taylor home. He pulled up in front of her building.

"I had a wonderful time with you." He smiled

"I did too Billy." She smiled back

"So I'll see you tomorrow?" He asked

"Yeah, I'll see you tomorrow." She replied

She closed the door and went into her building amid the falling snowflakes that were now covering the ground. Walsh sat out front for a while and watched after she had gone out of sight. He knew that she was a special woman, and he had enjoyed the chat. Taylor was more than a friend to him. She was turning into his best friend.
