Pre-Preggers, Season 1, episode 4
*Flashback: (August 22nd) – Noah's house*
Quinn and Noah lay on his bed. They are both fuzzy from the wine coolers they've been drinking all day. Quinn came over earlier with them, and convinced Noah to drink with her. She is so stressed from the last two months of seeing Rachel at lunch.
She has to try so hard to not let herself slip when she is at home. She has to keep her father believing that they are doing exactly as he says, bullying Rachel, and calling her names, but that they have no other contact, besides Glee Club, with the Diva.
She thinks maybe this will get her mind off of it. So she bought some wine coolers with her fake ID, and she brought them over to Noah's house, and she convinced her friend to get drunk on them with her, and then convinced him that it would be a good idea for them to have sex.
"Are you sure this is what you want?" Noah asks gently as he hovers over Quinn. He acts like a badass and everything, but Quinn isn't just another girl. She's his best friend, first and foremost.
Quinn nods slowly. "Yes, I'm sure," she consents, and then adds, "Tell me again."
"You're beautiful, Quinn. Beautiful like an angel." Quinn smiles softly at the nickname.
"You've got protection, right?"
"Of course. Don't worry, okay? I'll take care of you."
*End of flashback*
*1 month later (September) – lunch – McKinley High – Choir room*
It's lunchtime again. The girls went for 15 minutes this week, and so far, everything has gone really well. Today is also Friday, which means it'll be the day that all three show up instead of just one.
Quinn arrives at the choir room early this time. She's waiting for Santana and Brittany, but mostly she just needs Rachel to hurry up and get here.
Her mind flashes back to nearly a month ago at Noah's house, that day when they got drunk on wine coolers and had sex.
And then it flashes to last week, when she realized her period was. She tried not to freak out at first, figured it's just a few days late; that's all.
But then, this morning happened. This morning, in the girls' bathroom, where she took a pregnancy test and was met with a tiny, plus pink sign three minutes later.
She tries to calm her breathing. Tries not to think about what it means. This isn't how it was supposed to go. She was supposed to graduate high school and college first. Meet a perfect Christian man, get married and then have sex.
That is what's expected of her. That's how she is supposed to show she is a good Christian, at least, it is how she wants to prove to her parents that she is.
She's not supposed to be 15 when it happened.
Quinn is shaken from her thoughts as Rachel enters the room. "Quinn? Hey, you're early." The Diva drops her bag by the piano where Quinn is seated. She gets a good look at the blonde's face, and immediately her expression turns to one of worry and concern.
"Hey," She whispers as she slides next to Quinn on the bench. "what's the matter?" Quinn lets out a breath as she leans on the brunette's shoulder. She feels the tears begin to fall as Rachel wraps an arm around her shoulder. "Talk to me, Quinn. Tell me what's wrong, please."
"Rae…" she begins. She doesn't how to say it. She doesn't know how to tell her that she let herself get pregnant, and she certainly does not want Rachel to be disappointed in her. She feels Rachel pull away and realizes she'd been caught up in her thoughts.
"Quinn, talk to me. Whatever it is, I'm here for you. I promise." She nods to that. That wasn't something she doubted, but it is nice to hear regardless.
She takes a deep breath and steels herself to say it. "I'm pregnant." It's so quiet after her confession that she can actually feel Rachel lose the ability to respond.
She watches as Rachel blinks and opens and shuts her mouth a few times. It would be amusing given any other situation than the current one. Finally, Rachel seems to gain back the ability to speak.
"Um…I'm not sure what to say to that, Quinn. Are-are you sure? I mean, did you take a test or anything?"
Quinn nods to that. "I'm late for this month, and yeah, I took one this morning. It was positive." Rachel nods also.
"Okay, but are you sure? I mean, it could have been a false positive. And there are other reasons for being late. Have you been sick or stressed out lately?"
And, just like that, Quinn suddenly feels a lot better. Because yes, she has been stressed out. Quite a lot lately with seeing Rachel at lunch and trying not to get caught.
"Um, yeah, I've been pretty stressed out these past few weeks." She scrunches her eyebrows up. "Can that really cause a person to be late?"
"Yes, there are several reasons for being late. If you have been stressed out, or are really sick. If your eating habits have changed drastically or you have had an excessive weight gain or loss." Quinn nods along as Rachel speaks, thinking of reasons for her symptoms other than pregnancy.
"How do we find out for sure?"
"Well, you'll need to go to the doctor's, take some tests, just to be sure." Quinn's reaction isn't what she expected, as the blonde begins to freak out.
"Rach, no. I can't go to the doctors. My parents, they-they cannot find out about this. They will go crazy if they find out."
"Okay, okay," Rachel holds up a hand. "Then we will just have to go somewhere your parents won't find out about." She goes over to her bag, getting out her cell phone. She speed-dials a number right as Santana and Brittany show up.
"Hey, Q, Berry." Santana greets as she and Brittany enter the room.
"Hi, Rachie!" Britt gives her a hug, which she returns easily. Rachel informs that she is going to make a call, and then heads outside to the hallway. Lunch only just started, meaning they have about 45 minutes left, so the hallways are all empty.
The phone rings a few times before someone picks up, "Hello?"
"Hey, it's Rachel. I need a favor."

*In the choir room*
"What was that all about?" Santana asks as soon as Rachel leaves the room. "Who is she calling?"
Quinn sighs, knowing she is going to have to tell them about what is going on. "Rachel is calling in a favor, I don't know who to, but she is going to help me find out if I am pregnant or not." Santana blinks in surprise, obviously not expecting that answer.
"What?"
Quinn just shrugs. "I'm late, San," she tells her. "I'm late and I took a test this morning. It came back positive, and if I hadn't of been so freaked out, I probably would have realized myself that there are other reasons for being late. Like, how stressed we have been these past few weeks." She sighs again.
"So, Rach is going to call in a favor. I'll go and take a test at a doctor's office, and then have it confirmed whether or not I am actually pregnant."
Santana nods along with that.
"Ok. Do you need anything from Britt or me?"
"I need you to come with me, wherever I will be going. I-I want Rachel to, but…" Quinn trails off not needing to give her reason. They already know; Rachel can't come because they can't be seen with her out in public.
"Ok, Q. We'll come."
Rachel reenters the room then.
"I called Jake," That's Rachel's cousin. Jacob lives in Lima and works at a doctor's office. "He's going to come and check you out, Quinn. We can come with you, if you'd like, but it will be best if only one comes along,"
"Santana and Britt are coming with me," Quinn answers quietly. Rachel nods as she is putting her phone up.
"Okay, just wait for them to call you three. I told Jake you would text him, or I could do it if you need me to."
But Santana is already doing it so Rachel just decides to make the best of the time they have. She motions for Brittany to come and the two start on the notes Rachel has been teaching Britt during the week.
About 10 minutes later, Rachel's phone goes off with her text alert. It's her cousin, letting her know he is out front. He will go to the office and sign the girls out, and asks for Rachel to send them to meet him there.
She sighs.
"Okay, LuLu," She looks up, catching Santana's eye before turning to Quinn, using her childhood nickname for the blonde. "Jake is at the front office. He wants you to meet him there.
Quinn holds eye contact with Rachel for a few more seconds, trying to communicate something, what, Rachel isn't sure, but she doesn't have time to ask as Quinn is standing up and walking out of the room.
"We'll meet you back here during Glee," Santana tells her before following Quinn while Brittany hugs her and runs after the other girls.
She wishes they would tell her what was going on.
Why they have to sneak around to see her. Why she couldn't come with them.
God, if only she knew.

Pre-Preggers, Season 1, episode 4
*McKinley High School*
It's right before the bell on Monday when Rachel gets the call.
Her cousin, Jacob, has the test results back for Quinn.
He needs her to come to the office. Its protocol, otherwise, he would let Rachel be the one to tell her. He will check her out at lunch just like he did on Friday.
She warns to please, please do not use the sentence congratulations, Miss Fabray, you are pregnant.
He tells her of course. And it hurts her heart so much because he understands more than he should. He knows who her father is. He knows better than to 15-year-old Quinn Fabray "congrats" on her pregnancy.
So, in the hallway, Rachel looks around. She spots Santana at her locker. The Latina is watching her with an…unreadable…expression on her face.
Rachel lifts one hand, just to her waist, and, once Santana's eyes have dropped down, she signs the letters… J…a…k…e.
And Santana gives a nod, so tiny and imperceptible, that Rachel would not have seen it had she not been specifically looking for it.

*Lunchtime – Free Clinic*
Jacob checks them out just before lunch. Santana and Quinn and Brittany come with him to his Free Clinic, and he takes them to a room.
He sits them down and he sighs and his heart hurts so much because he can see Quinn is terrified and he can see that she knows what he is about to say. Even if she is trying to hide behind her "Head Bitch in Charge" façade.
No matter how much she wanted to believe Rachel when the Diva explained that a missed period could also be caused by extreme stress, no matter how much she just wanted that to be true, he knows that she knows that…it isn't.
"Jake…"
It's been so long since he's heard it.
"I'm so sorry, Babygirl." He whispers, forgoing his professional "Doctor Holiday" voice. "Your tests came back positive. You are pregnant."
He hears Brittany whimper from across the room, where she and Santana stand, frozen. He can't tell which expression is winning out on Santana's face – shock or fear or panic or…or if it's just a mixture of all of them at once.
He sees it happen a split second before the two girls do. Quinn's "Head Bitch in Charge" attitude crumbles into nothing more than a scared little girl's heartbreaking expression.
Santana's arms are around her in the next second, and then…she is breaking down, sobbing, and burying her face into her best friend's neck.
Brittany hugs him and he hugs her back, but only for a second because then she is hugging her two best friends, and Santana is whispering something that has the blonde reeling back with, what he knows, is panic.
"Santana, no. We can't do that! It's too soon."
"Screw it being too soon," The Latina snaps but Brittany seems to know it isn't directed towards her. It's never directed towards her.
"Screw that, B." He wonders if he should leave the room and gives the three a moment to themselves, but he stops himself. Something tells him he needs to be here for Santana's next words.
"Screw it," She whispers. "Quinn just had her whole world come down around her, and right now, Rachel is the only one that can put it back together long enough for us to get through the rest of the day."
Santana then looks to him, and he is taken aback at the amount of pure determination in her eyes.
"Go check your cousin out, Jake. Rachel is needed here more than she is at school."
He doesn't even question it. He just nods. He nods and he turns and he leaves the room, putting a piece of paper that says do not disturb in the plastic folder on the door.
And then, he goes to McKinley High School. He goes to the Office, and he texts Rachel, and he asks for her to come to the Office, and he checks her out.
He can see in her eyes and on her face that she is about to complain about missing school. Lunch is almost over and there is no way they can go to wherever they are going and get back in time for the next period to start.
But one look at his face.
And she knows.
So she nods and she follows him outside to his car, and he takes her back to the Clinic. He brings her straight to the room where the Unholy Trinity is.
He says he'll give them some time. To take as long as they need.
Rachel isn't even listening once she zeros in on her best friend.
"Oh, LuLu," She whispers and, once she is close enough, Santana steps back to let her take her place in holding Quinn.
Rachel holds her and she feels her heart hurting with how hard Quinn is sobbing and she knows how scared she is. She wonders how the hell things got so fucked up. She feels herself panicking at the thought of Russell Fabray finding out his teenage daughter is pregnant.
In order to stem the panic, Rachel looks to her left, at Santana wrapped in Brittany's arms, at her cousin who is sitting, waiting, watching, at all of those stupid fucking posters declaring a woman's options for her pregnancy, and how wonderful it is to be carrying a child.
Rachel sees Brittany's face. She sees how this girl has had to grow up so quickly in the last four years, how she couldn't be more childlike, as she was when they were actually little kids.
"You can't go home," She says it before her brain can filter it. And she speaks to Britt and San, because she knows Quinn is in no shape to be listening and processing what she is saying right now.
"You-you can't go home, ok?" Brittany nods. "Go to San's house, or Britt's, or…or somewhere, but you cannot go home today. It's…"
She stops herself, her eyes flicking to Jacob and she just lets the sentence hang. She knows they know, and she knows he knows, so there is no reason to say exactly what she was thinking you can't go home, because Quinn is no shape to pretend everything is fine around her mother and father.
Brittany is nodding, though. And Santana turns just enough to let Rachel know she heard, also. So the Diva averts her attention back to Quinn.
"You're ok, LuLu," She whispers, rubbing the blonde's back. "You're ok. It's…everything is going to be ok."
They stay there, in that room. And they let the thought of Quinn's life being over, especially if Russell finds out, wash over them. The Unholy Trinity lets Rachel, for the first time in four years, see the raw, unbridled emotional side of all three of them.
And they let themselves, if only for a few moments, believe Rachel's words of it being ok.
I had originally had this to be up after the girls told Rachel everything, so if you see anything that indicates Rachel knows more than she does, please let me know and I will remove it. She does not know yet, and as of right now, tentatively, the "talk" will be chapter 10 (only four to go!)
Next Up: Preggers. Quinn tells Finn she is pregnant.
Please review and let me know what you thought! :)
