Hi everyone. I bet you're wondering what this little number is about, but before that, I'm throwing up a spoilers warning for content in Chapter 1, 5 and 6.

In ToS: Dawn of the New World, there are a few instances in Chapters 1, 5 and 6 where you are put into a situation where you can't win. In cases like these, the sotry will only progress if you get KO'd in the battle. These include Lloyd Irving in Chapter 1 and Richter Abend (2nd Fight) in Chapter 5.

There are also two battles where you can't win, but you must survive the fight until the next cutscene triggers or it's game over. These fights include Richter (1st Fight) Chapter 5 and Brute (Chapter 6)

In Chapter 6, during the battle with Richter (3rd Fight), the story progress' regardless if you beat him or not, but you must be decently leveled and be very patient on your first playthrough.

Why bring this up? This is in regards to the fight with Richter at the Cape Fortress in Chapter 5. On your first run, you'll most likely lose to him, but on your second playthrough (New Game +), Emil and Marta will be more then properly leveled up to curb stomp him. If you beat him, it'll play an extended version of the scene where instead of Richter holding Emil down, Richter actually gets worn out like Marta and Zelos, with Emil checking up on Richter before the latter grabs him, leading into the same scene. Not a huge difference, but nice detail regardless.

With this, it leads into this little story. In a New Game +, Emil and Marta are able to defeat Lloyd. However, it stills plays the same scene as if you lost. To be fair, the context of the story only works if Lloyd has Lumen's core, especially in regards to the plot twist in Chapter 8. So for this story, I'm going to write a little short story to show what an extended version of the scene would look like if you beat Lloyd on New Game +.

I hope you'll enjoy this.

A while ago, there was intense clashing of metal echoing in this small room, but now, apart from heavy breathing, there was silence.

Emil Castagnier, a young boy from Luin, was fighting the murderer of his parents and everyone in Palmacosta, Lloyd Irving. Fortunately, he had help from Marta Lualdi, a young girl who saved him from a monster some time ago.

Rage filled his entire being, as not only did Lloyd kill his parents, but he also hurt Richter, a person he considered a mentor and one of two people to ever show him kindness, primarily by protecting him from bullies and giving him the advise 'Courage is the magic that turns dreams into reality'. While he was confused and upset with him trying to kill Marta, the other person who was also kind to him, he wanted to believe that Richter was a good person and even hoped to convince him not to kill Marta. Turned out he was injured by Lloyd earlier and now he was fighting Marta, apparently trying to kill her too.

What made this worse, is when he questioned Lloyd about Palmacosta, he only said "Not again... with Palmacosta...". After that, Emil's became engaged with his turning red as he taped into Ratatosk's power. He then proceeded to attack along with Marta.

He didn't care that Lloyd was most likely stronger then him, he will not lose to this mass murderer! He intended to beat him down and expose him to Luin for the monster he really was. While he and Marta suffered injuries, they also did a surprising number on him too, leading to this moment.

*Pant* *Pant* Emil let out as his red eyes turned back to green, his rage slightly abated.

'Did... we beat him?' Emil thought as he didn't expect to do any form of damage to Lloyd. Perhaps he wasn't as strong as the stories about him mentioned.

*Pant* Pant* Marta loosely let out as she caught her breath. Having to heal herself and Emil along with fending off Lloyd took a toll on her, but she fought worse.

'That... was close. I guess the stories about his strength were true, but I guess we got lucky.' Marta thought once she noticed Lloyd was worn out. She didn't know why, but she thought Lloyd would overpower them, but she just brushed it off as anxiety.

*Pant* *Pant* Lloyd let out as he was on one knee. He thought he could easily knock out these two teenagers, but being distracted by the mention of Palmacosta and underestimating the two led to him taking more damage then needed.

'Damn! I let my guard down! They shouldn't be able to hurt me this badly...' Lloyd mentally cursed himself as he lifted his head up. That's when he noticed Marta looking at the strange jewel on the Altar, but why was she looking for it to begin with?

"Emil, I know this is confusing, but can you keep an eye on him?" Marta questioned Emil, prompting the young boy to turn one eye to her.

"How come?" Emil replied as he can now think clearly while making sure Lloyd didn't try anything.

"I'll explain everything once we get that core on that Altar. Once we do that, we'll turn Lloyd over to Luin and make him face his crimes." Marta said to Emil, understanding why he was furious with Lloyd. She lost much in Palmacosta too, hence why when Emil mentioned his parents murder at Lloyd's hands, she could only gasp in shock. After telling Emil to watch Lloyd, she begin to walk over to the Altar as fast as her exhausted body could make.

'NO! I can't let them take it! They're putting themselves in danger!' Lloyd thought in a panic as he suddenly stood up and lept in front of the Altar.

*Gasp* Marta let out as Lloyd was now blocking her way, even after that solid beaten he took. Emil only now noticed as Lloyd was really fast his his eye to catch him and began rush to Marta's side.

'Damn! At this rate, Lloyd's going to kill Marta!' Emil thought as the images of his dead parents and an injured Richter came back to him, but now he was burdened with the image of a dead Marta in his mind. He didn't know her for that long, but as one of the two people who treated him with kindness for the first time in six months, he wasn't going to let Lloyd do as he pleased to her.

"LLOYD IRVING!" Emil shouted, his eyes red again as he charged toward his sworn enemy. Marta, who snapped out of her shock, joined Emil in taking down the Lloyd. But Lloyd however, with what appeared to be a downcast look...

"Forgive me..." Lloyd silently whispered as energy built up in both of his swords. By the time Emil and Marta noticed the energy appear in his blades, it was already too late for them.

"DOUBLE DEMON FANG!" Lloyd shouted as he unleashed two projectiles into them both, sending both Emil and Marta flying across the air.

"AHHHHHHHHHH!" Emil yelled outas his sword left his hand and his eyes turning back to it's natural green color. He then landed on his back on the cold ground, trying to stay conscious.

"AHHHHHHHHHH!" Marta cried out in pain as her grip on her spinner loosened. She was already unconscious by the time she landed on her back as the pain from Lloyd's attack was too much for her, not even feeling the hard impact of the ground.

'Ugh...' Emil thought as turned his head to check on Marta. To his dismay, all he saw was her face facing him with her eyes closed, lying helplessly a few feet away from him.

'N-no... Marta...' Emil cursed himself mentally for allowing this to happen. While he was able to get Richter away from here with Aqua's help, who was going to save him and Marta from Lloyd? As Tenebrae told him when he made the pact to become a Knight of Ratatosk, Centurions can't fight, so he couldn't save them even if he wanted too. Not to mention the Imp he made a pact with was knocked out part way during the fight with Lloyd, leaving Tenebrae unable to do anything but watch in worry.

If there was one regret Emil had right now, aside from not avenging the death of his parents, it was not being able to save the person next to him, a girl who saved his life from a monster, from being at the mercy of Lloyd's blood soaked blade.

'Mom... Dad... Richter... Marta... I'm... sorry...' Emil thought as he saw Lloyd walk up the Altar as his vision began to black out. If there was one thing to come from this, at least he and Marta won't be awake to see what happened next. At least they won't suffer a painful death...

"Mm-nmmmgh..." Emil groaned as he began to stir and opened his eyes as he got up, looking at his hands in disbelief.

"I'm alive." Emil said to himself in surprise as he thought Lloyd would've killed him while he was out. It was then he noticed Marta was sitting next to him, watching over him. Relief instantly filled him as she was spared from death too.

"I guess he decided not to kill us." Marta said somberly as she recalled that after waking up, Marta took the time to heal herself before walking over to Emil and healed him with her magic as he too thought they were done for. It was then Tenebrae came out, while relieved Marta and the boy he made a pact with were spared, flew up to the Altar and saw a shocking discovery.

"Lady Marta! Centurion Lumen's core is..." Tenebrae called out to the two as they slowly got up and walked over to the Altar, only to notice an empty spot where the jewel was.

"It's gone!" Marta shouted in disbelief as her eyes widened. What happened to it? She was out like a light after she got hit by that attack Lloyd threw out at her and Emil.

"A-are you talking about a white jewel? I think Lloyd took it with him." Emil told Marta and Tenebrae as he recalled what he saw before he passed out.

"He took it?! Are you sure?!" Marta asked in a panicked tone. Yes, that was why she was fighting Lloyd earlier, to make sure he didn't take it, but she wanted to be sure if that was really the case.

"Y-yeah. Was it important?" Emil replied as he cocked his head in confusion. If it wasn't important, why would Marta risk her life to fight someone as strong as Lloyd? Didn't she know that she could have gotten herself killed?

"Yes. Centurion Lumen's core is essential to our journey. Lady Marta, let's hurry. You and I must go after him." Tenebrae explained to Emil before turning to Marta, determined to get back the stolen jewel before the thieving marauder made off with the jewel.

*Sigh* "OK, but first..." Marta agreed with Tenebrae before she face Emil, her eyes full of gratitude and... something enamorous?

"Thank you so much, Emil. I really appreciate you saving me once again!" Marta said with great praise and happiness. Sure, Emil led Richter to her, but she figured he didn't know the implications of doing so and planned to explain it to him later. Besides, he did come to help her with Lloyd.

"Uh... I didn't do anything. I mean, I was pretty much useless." Emil said nervously as he scratched his head. After all, he let his temper get the better of him and that nearly costed both him and Marta their lives as a result.

"But you did save me. You became a knight, a Knight of Ratatosk. That's why you were able to save me, right? I always thought that you would make a wonderful knight! It's true! That's what I thought, ever since the first time we met." Marta said with such high praise that it would have embarrassed Emil, recalling their first encounter six months ago during the Blood Purge. Little did the young girl fail to notice, the boy was confused more than anything.

"You what?" Emil asked in confusion. What was she talking about? No matter how much he tried to think back, he truly can't remember her. It's obvious at this point that she wasn't mistaking him for somebody else at this point. How was he able to forget someone as pretty and memorable as Marta? Assuming he did meet her.

"It's okay! I guess that it just wasn't as memorable for you. But honestly I'm very grateful to you for saving me. What would I have done without you?" Marta said with a blush and a giggle, deciding to stop with the praise and give Emil her sincerest thanks, as she would have been in a lot more trouble if Emil didn't protect from Richter and help her out against Lloyd. Emil could only stutter nervously as the girl flirted and thanked him. No girl had ever been interested in him before. Sure, he got nervous with Richter, but he was intimidating and had a sense of strengh Emil looked up too. The nervousness he felt with Marta was a different kind entirely as his face flushed a little. But before he could think further about this...

"Lady Marta, we must hurry." Tenebrae chimed in, hoping to get Marta's head out of the clouds to get to the task at hand.

"Yes, you're right. Emil, would you help us? Just until we make it out of this place?" Marta asked Emil for his help a little longer. She felt bad dragging him into this after as he said he didn't remember her, but maybe helping her and Tenebrae out might jog his memory a little? Wishful thinking, she knew, but still.

"Uh...Sure." Emil replied nervously. It's not like he was going to abandon her here anyway. After all, if there's one thing he knew, he would never leave anyone in need of help behind. That was why he helped Richter despite what awful thing he was going to do. After seeing his parents die, he never wanted to see another person die in front of his face again

'Marta is kind of a strange girl.' Emil thought to himself as Marta bashfully turned from him as she walked to the entrance with Tenebrae. Strange as she was, he knew that like Richter, she's also a good person.

Emil didn't know what was going on, but for now, he was just happy that he and Marta survived. But why would Lloyd spare them? After all he's done? And why did he look like he felt guilt? Was he faking it?

Getting angry won't help now. With that, he and his new allies began to search for a way out of the cave.

To be Continued...

And there you have it. I wish that there was an extended scene if you beat Lloyd in New Game +, but what can you do. Well, this should tide you over until the next chapters for the current stpries come out.

See you later!
