Back with another prologue! This pov will be focused on one of our victors, Bless Alinafe. Let's dive in shall we?
Bless Alinafe, 29
Ex District Ten Tribute
Victor of the One Hundred Eighty Seventh Annual Hunger Games
Life in District Ten wasn't always easy for Bless, and everyone knew it. Growing up with two parents and eight siblings, two of which died in the hunger games. Bless was the third child reaped for the games when she was sixteen, and her mother and father wept in agony and pain as they thought their beloved daughter would get on the train and never return, but that was not the fate Bless wanted.
She was angry at the Capitol, almost to the point where you could see the rage in her eyes. She wanted the Capitol to hurt, just like she and her family did. But how could she do that without harm coming to her and her family? She later found out.
Her experience was interesting to say the least. She was considerably one of the more strong tributes of the one hundred eighty seventh hunger games. She focused her time on her survival skills, she barely focused her time on weapons because she didn't need to improve herself in weaponry. Furthermore, she knew just how to use a ax as much as anyone else. And that's what she did.
She wasn't the "excitedly ready" type during her interviews. She very much made the audience and Elizabeth Flickerman quite unsettled, throwing fire at how two of her siblings were killed in the games, and it's all their fault. But it did have some tearful moments of how she wanted to get home to her grieving parents. By the time her interview was done, there were surely mixed feelings about her around the nation of Panem.
The arena of the one hundred eighty seventh hunger games was a more memorable one in the last thirteen years, for sure. The arena was a recreation of the first annual hunger games arena, a simple coliseum. But the gamemakers created it to seem like it had a mind of its own. With its unsettling deathly silent nights, doors and walls that moved around on its own, and no glistening blue skies with the faces of the fallen tributes. Bless found it quite interesting that the arena moved like that, and knew she could use it to her advantage.
The bloodbath was one of the deadliest in the history of bloodbath. With fourteen dead in the ten minutes. Within those ten minutes, Bless snatched a kill of her own. Using the ax she found, she slit the neck of the boy from four, engaging the career alliance. But she managed to escape, the careers obviously didn't have as much stamina as she did.
For the next week, she awaited, noting each hour the doors and walls moved. It seemingly was on repeat every day that week. That's when she got the idea, but first she needed to use herself as hair to lead the careers towards her plan. But the question was how? That's when it hit her. A week ago during the bloodbath, she received spare arena clothing, similar to the ones she had one. She could use some sticks near her to make it look like someone was peeking through the door, and knowing how stupid this year's careers were, she knew it'll work.
After she set the trap up, she made a fire to lure the tributes towards her. She hid beneath a boulder, and waited for it to work.
The careers eventually came to the fire and saw the trap Bless set up. All six of them stepped towards the trap and into the room, as soon as they saw it was a trap Bless ran and shut the stone door just in time for the revolving walls to close. The sounds of screams and bone crushing could be heard all around the arena, as the walls reopened, a pool of blood squeezed its way through the cracks of the stone door, foaming a pool around Bless.
At that moment, she was proclaimed the victor. She could only imagine how happy her parents were, and they certainly tearfully hugged her when she returned. But her hatred for the Capitol only grew by the day.
Thirteen years of hatred has been beaming through her veins. Thirteen years of twenty-six bodies on the arena floor. She wanted them all to pay for each time blood that was shed.
Bless sat in her chair angrily. Why would they do such a twist? It really pissed her off. No children nor adults should be experiencing this no matter what. She knew that she must mentor again, but now she will be mentoring three tributes, one child, one teen, and one adult. She thought it was ridiculous.
All she wanted to do was tear apart the two who made this twist possible. She wanted to cut their tongues out, just like they did to avoxes. She hated them.
Bless hears a thought on her door and looks out her window, it was Avery. She hasn't spoken to him since last year, and doesn't want to know. After both of their tributes died, Avery blamed Bless. So they left on a sour note.
Avery continued to knock on Bless's door. After a few more seconds of being annoyed, Bless finally opened the door. Her face with obvious annoyance.
"What do you want, Avery?" Bless huffed.
"I know we both left on a sour note, and I'm sorry for that. But we need to talk." Avery sighed.
"Talk about what?" Bless lifted her head.
"You'll see. I'll tell you when I come in. May I come in, please?" Avery tapped his foot.
Bless opened her mouth, but closed it quickly. She hesitated to respond or how to respond. But she knew that if he wanted to talk privately, it must be seriously important.
"Fine, you got ten minutes." Bless says as she arched her eyebrows.
Thank you everyone for reading prologue two! Can't wait for the next chapter! Until next time,
