A/N: Intros takes place three-one weeks prior to the Reaping.

Barnum Pax, 10

District Thirteen Tribute A

What did you do this time, Barnum?" Barnum's mother asked him as she walked into the principal's office.

Principal Richard tapped his pencil on his desk as he told the mother, "He got into another fight, Miss Pax."

"I'll take him home early. Thank you, calling me Richard," Miss Pax sighed as Barnum followed her out of the room. "Barnum, why did you get into a fight? You know this is the third school you've been to. There aren't many schools in the district." She frowned at her son.

"Mom, he was talking horribly about you...and dad. I don't like them talking bad about my mom." Barnum looked up at his mother.

"I know you love me, and I know you are still upset about your father leaving us, but you shouldn't be taking your anger out on everyone." Miss Pax opened the car door and got in.

"I know, mom," Barnum sighed as he got into his seat.

"Okay. Just promise me you'll try not to fight and will control your anger." Miss Pax looked back at Barnum.

"Yes, I promise. I love you, mom." Barnum smiled slightly.

"Alright, thank you." Miss Pax took her hand off the steering wheel and patted his shoulder before driving away. Barnum shut his eyes, remembering when his father left him and his mother. It had only been a little over a year since he'd left home and never returned.

As they pulled up to the garage, Barnum recalled every single memory of what happened on his father's last night in their family. Barnum stared blankly at the front door, where he remembered his mother yelling at his father and throwing his belongings at him. She told him never to return, and he never did. Apparently he had got another woman pregnant and hid the pregnancy from Barnum's mother.

His mother initially became quite suspicious of her ex-husband after he started having "constant work trips". One day, she found a letter in the mail from the woman he got pregnant, and she became furious. Barnum remembered that he was playing with his toy dinosaurs when he heard his mother telling off his father for what he did. And Barnum thinks she had every right to.

Barnum was just nine at the time, but he was already fully aware of what separation and divorce were. His best friend, Elle, went through something similar before him, and so he knew almost as much as his mother did.

After his father left, Barnum had started to act out in school, and was constantly in fights. Eventually, he behaved badly enough to get himself kicked out of two schools in District Thirteen. But this school was Barnum's last chance, and he knew he couldn't fuck it up anymore.

Barnum opened his eyes as he got out of the car and walked to the front door.

"Barnum, I'll make you dinner when I'm done showering. For now, I want you to go stay in your room and think about what you did. Understood?" Miss Pax unlocked the door with her key and walk in with Barnum.

"Yes, mom," Barnum said as he hung up his backpack on the clothes rack's hook.

"I love you, Barnum," his mother told him.

"I love you too, mom." Barnum smiled at his mother before she went into the bathroom to take her shower.

As Barnum headed to his room, he flopped onto the bed and sighed. He wondered where his father was now, and what h was doing. He knew he never wanted to see his face again, but he did want to ask him "why?" For now, though, that word would never come out Barnum's mouth.

Zuri Yente, 12

District Six Tribute B

Zuri was seen as different amongst most of her peers. She wasn't the biggest fan of makeup, dresses, or anything girly really. Zuri had always known she was a tomboy, and she's very accepting of it. She likes to spray paint with her friends, play sports, and wear casual shirts and brown pants.

She was picked on at school, but did she care? Not one fucking bit. She embraced her personality and interests.

Zuri was spray painting a skull onto some cement with Viktor and Kat, who were her best friends.

"How does it look guys?" Zuri says as she finishes the final touches on the white skull with rose colored eyes.

"It looks amazing, Zuri. You are really improving with your designs." Viktor said with a giant grin on his face.

"Yeah I agree with Viktor!" Kat said as she smiled back enthusiastically.

"Thank you two, I really love spray painting you know so it's nice to hear some praises every once in awhile." Zuri gruffed with a smile as she un-braids her pigtails her mother did for her and wraps it up i'm a bun.

"That's better." Zuri smiled.

Zuri stretches her arms after she finished spray painting. She was exhausted after school today. She was a straight A's student and was pretty smart. But of course she is picked on, but after awhile she started to ignore it, and now it doesn't seem to bother her the slightest bit.

Her phone rang, it was a message from her mother. Zuri took out her phone and sighed.

"Guys I got to go home for family dinner. We invited all of my relatives in the district. I'll see you guys tomorrow." Zuri grabbed in saddle and placed her phone, and all her paint cans inside.

Zuri began tried to remember her family relatives, but for some reason she couldn't think much. Zuri hasn't spoken or practically seen any of them since the holidays, six years ago. She doesn't know why they haven't talked to her family, and why the suddenly want to speak to us after six years. But whatever the reason was, it had to be a good one.

It took Zuri ten minutes to walk to her home. And when she arrived at her home, cars were all parked along her family's house.

"They're here…" Zuri frowned and walked to the entrance and knocked on the door. After a few seconds of awkward silence, Zuri's mother opened the door and hugged her daughter.

"Sweetie! Come on in your relatives would like to see you again!" Mrs. Yente said as she smiled brightly at her daughter.

Zuri stepped into the house and as she entered the living room, everyone was sitting on some furniture. As they turned to look at Zuri she stood there in awkward silence before finally spat out something.

"Hi…." Zuri awkwardly says as she sat down on one of the couches.

"Hey Zuri, how have you been?" Uncle Brandon coughed as he spoke to Zuri.

"I'm doing alright. I didn't expect something like this would happen today." Zuri clenched her teeth together.

"That's great! You probably are wondering why we are here right now, don't you?" Uncle Brandon chuckled as he spoke.

"Yes, I do…" Zuri sighed.

"Well, we wanted to have a family meeting after the quell twist was announced." Uncle Brandon coughed louder as he spoke to Zuri.

"Oh, well I'm going to be in my room. Come get me when dinner's ready." Zuri frowned as she went to her room. It was obvious her uncle wanted to say something to her, but he kept his mouth closed and watched her as she went to her room.
